Vaccines that Spread: Corona Chronicle 8
By Arjuwan Lakkdawala
Ink in the Internet
There has been much talk about humans taking vaccines, without a doubt vaccines have through the years saved millions of lives. According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control) There are vaccines for 17 dangerous or deadly diseases. Perhaps the list hasn’t been updated because till the time I posted this article Covid 19 or its vaccine hadn’t been added to the list.
This is my 8th Chronicle about the pandemic, I thought I was done by the 7th. Thanks to widespread awareness especially about hygiene, masks, and social distancing, though it is shameful that humans needed an unprecedented pandemic to get them to wash their hands properly.
As a news observer I found everything is going in the right direction in combating this pandemic, but the debate and confusion surrounding vaccines got me to write again.
I stand by vaccines that have been properly tested and not made out of some rush, which might not make them as effective and safe as they should be.
To understand vaccines and their significance I thought it’s important to understand that vaccines exist naturally and the artificial lab made vaccines are only trying to imitate nature.
One example is the chicken pox, if you get it, you are automatically vaccinated against it so you never get it again.
The antivenom is different but still a brilliant example of how antibodies form to fight toxins.
Horses, or sheep, because they have robust immune systems are injected with a small amount of venom, and then the anti-bodies through bleeding are purified and harvested to make antivenom.
This method was first developed by French scientist Albert Calmette in 1895, and it hasn’t changed much.
A July 2020 paper by Scott L. Nuismer and James J. Bull on the Nature Ecology and Evolution website, speaks of
“vaccines that spread”
It goes to the root of the risk by zoonotic infectious diseases sporadically spilling over and causing epidemics.
The report says SARS-Cov-2 is just a recent example of how ineffective the world is at controlling infectious diseases.
Instead of vaccinating humans after an epidemic or pandemic, I think the report’s prevention method of self-disseminating vaccines is a better approach.
The idea is to make contagious vaccines, it can be made to spread through animals either by injecting them with the vaccin, which is infectious like a virus, or by applying the vaccine on an animal – bat for example and it spreads the vaccine as it comes into contact with other animals.
However, this aspiring concept is not without challenges as stated in the report. According to www.nature.com There are about 1,400 known species of human pathogens and they make up less than 1% of the microbial species on the planet, so predicting which of these is likely mutate to become an infectious disease to humans could require infinite research.
The report by Scott L. Nuismer and James J. Bull says using the self-disseminating vaccine to eradicate known viruses like the rabies, would still be a hard task, as the virus circulates between different animal reservoir species. But because effective wildlife vaccines exist. Achieving self-dissemination would be a good way to start in making its vaccine viral for distribution among different animal groups.

Massive Goof-Up! Three Elderly Women Vaccinated Against Rabies Instead Of Covid-19 In UP’s Shamli
Covid-19 vaccination in Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking case of gross negligience in UP’s Shamli, three elderly women who went for getting vaccinated against corona were instead given vaccinated against rabies. The negligence of the health center was exposed after the condition of the old woman receiving the jab became serious and the relatives complained to the chief medical officers demanding…

A general Guideline On How Often Should Your Dog Go To The Vet?From Puppy To Adult Dog.
Tumblr media
Should you take your dog on a regular base to see the veterinarian.
Dogs are considered man’s best friends, and for us, we feel that our dogs are part of the family. As much as you care for your family and friends when they do not feel well, and you insist that they should see a Doctor or Specialist find out what is wrong and they get the right treatment. The same rule should apply to your dog. To ensure that your dog has a healthy and long life they need to go to the vet on a regular base. That is called regular check-ups.
Tumblr media
Every Dog Owners has a different opinion on how often to go to the vet
It can sometimes be bothering to go to the vet as my dogs do know when we go, and I can tell you, I need to be quite creative to outsmart them. It is love that you care about your dog or dogs and that you see your veterinarian on a regular basis. There are different Dog Owners, who go on a regular base to the vet, and then there are dog owners they sometimes go to see their veterinarian, and there are Dog Owners only visit the Veterinarian if their dog is sick or injured. I know a Veterinarian bill can be quite expensive but it does not need to be, there is pet insurance out there who cover those costs. I use it as I have 4 dogs and 3 cats. Why Regular Check-ups for your dog is important.
I do not need to mention the fact that it is essential for a dog especially for a puppy or a senior dog to have regular visits to the Veterinarian. The routine check up 's and the vaccination ( even you are not a friend of it) is essential in a dog's life. Did you know that emergency appointments can be more costly and could have been avoided when your vet is familiar with your dog? Instead of doing certain things in a period and keep them on file, when an emergency occurs the vet has to make all the basic stuff in one time to determine what could be wrong. It is the same as a human.
What are the basics your dog should have during its lifetime?
It should be common sense, and you should not need a reason why taking your dog to the vet is essential: Vaccine Shots - To stay healthy your Dog needs regular vaccine shots. Vaccines can prevent many diseases and can prolong their life span for a long time to come. Unvaccinated dogs can easily contract a disease and pass it on to other dogs in dog parks. It is a responsibility for every dog owner to do the necessary vaccinations to keep your dog and the people around him save. ( especially if you have kids) When a dog contracts a disease it will hit your dog in full and might cost him his life. On Top, it might burn a big hole into your wallet for treatment. I know there are different opinions on vaccinations, and I will not discuss this here, for me I want my pet to be healthy and protected. ( I leave it to each dog owner to vaccinate or not )
Basic vaccination schedule for your puppy
Tumblr media
First 6–8 weeks: The first shot is called DHLPPC shot (combined vaccine for distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, parvo and corona). It has to be in a series over the first year of your puppies life. 2nd. 10–12 weeks: second DHLPPC shot 3rd.12–24 weeks: Rabies ( depending on the country, most countries require rabies injections. Not many countries are rabies-free.) 14–16 weeks: third DHLPPC shot

Is distemper vaccine the same as rabies?
The canine distemper vaccine is typically given in some variation of a combination vaccine that also protects your pet from several other serious diseases, such as parvovirus infection. Many of the diseases that are prevented by this combination vaccine have no effective treatment other than supportive care; however, vaccination can prevent these diseases or minimise the signs of illness.

Why Is A Regular Checkup Essential For Your Dog?
I can not stretch how important that is. Even if your dog looks perfectly healthy, it is a necessary procedure for a healthy dog to go to the vet on a regular base. Tracking the development of your dogs' growth. Annual examinations are a vital part of preventative care. A general guideline is that all dogs should have a complete physical check-up at least once a year.

What is Preventative Care?
See it as an umbrella term that includes all the things you do to care for your dog. For example proper Nutrition, exercise and play, regular vet care, socialising your dog with other dogs, grooming ( depend on the breed) etc. By taking your dog to regular checkup's, you make a choice to care and find out illnesses or issues early enough, what is key to successful treatment.
What Are Ear Mites?
Ear mites are familiar with dogs. Those small infestations are tricky to make your dog uncomfortable and itchy. A vet can determine how severe the infestation is and prescribe appropriate medication to treat the ear mites. If left untreated they can cause bacteria to grow within the tissues and will find their way eventually to your dog's brain causing possible death. Fleas and Ticks Those are common among dogs. Fleas can be easily contracted from other dogs or animals outside. To get rid of them is not easy and a lengthy procedure what means a lot of work for you. Fleas can bite humans as well. Immediately action has to be taken, and your veterinarian knows the best remedy for it as your Vet has to deal with fleas and ticks on a regular base.
Tumblr media
Ticks need to be treated right away. When removing a tick, it is essential that you know what you do. If the tick bites the dog the poison of the tick will go into your dog's bloodstream and that can kill your dog.  Your Vet can determine how bad the situation is and provide the necessary treatments to keep the infestation from causing too many problems. (Be aware Ticks when they full with blood, can fall off your dog after a few days they will look for a new host, and ticks also choose humans as host and that can be dangerous.) https://www.healthline.com/health/tick-bites
Worms/Parasites
Your dog can have and contract a different kind of worms. Some worms can be contracted from your dog by humans like the ringworm. In general, worms are common in dogs and can be easily treated, there are so many different kinds of worm species with different impacts on your dog that it is necessary to see a vet for the determination of what kind of worms your dog has and what treatments are needed. Your Veterinarian is more qualified to examine the dog and takes out the guessing on what worm or parasite it is.

Dental Health
Dental health is essential for your dog. Your Veterinarian will clean from time to time your dog's teeth and will explain to you how you can help your dog to clean the teeth. Your dog's teeth need to be cleaned and checked on a regular base to avoid that bacteria is growing inside the mouth of your dog and gets out of hand. You would not think so but bacteria can cause all sorts of ailments for your dog, so keep on top of your dog's dental health to prevent any costly treatments that might occur when dental needs are left unchecked and untreated. Senior dogs will have a different schedule. Senior dogs need more regular checkups, as they can develop different diseases over a short period. Cushing's Disease, Diabetes, Arthritis, and so on. It is a good treat, and a sign of love to determine these diseases early to prevent them from getting worse and your dog is suffering from pain. With senior dogs, you should see the veterinarian at least twice a year. When should you not think twice going to the vet? The ideal situation is going twice a year, but an annual visit is already a big step. In case of an emergency, it is important not to think twice bringing your dog to your Veterinarian. Knowing the signs of an emergency is essential and can save the life of your dog. Symptoms and signs where you should look for an animal ER immediately. #Your dog has been hit by a car, or a blunt object and your dog is unconscious. #Being attacked by another dog and your dog is injured. #Your dog is unconscious and does not wake up # Your dog has trouble breathing or breathing stopped # If you see your dog vomiting and or vomiting blood # Diarrhea for a more extended period than 24 hours, #Feeling disorientated and not walking properly # If you think your dog has broken bones # Pale gums # Your dog is having a seizure #Has eaten some toxic substances, like rat poison, household cleaners, antifreeze, etc. #Pizza and chocolate can be toxic to a dog. #Pain ( whining, refuse to socialize, shaking or standing up) # If your dog shows a hard abdomen or swollen stomach # your dog refuses to eat and drink water over a longer period.
Tumblr media
No one knows your dog better than you. Trust your instincts. You can not go wrong with that. If your dog or puppy behaviour is suddenly changing visit your veterinarian right away. Don't take any chances, better to be saved than sorry. I have my Pet insurance now nearly 10 years and I am happy to have it, as it is big ease when you think of the veterinarian bills. It can always something happen just go to the park and your dog gets badly injured. Medical Bills are not cheap. Get a free quote today.

The Bottom Line Preventative healthcare at all ages can prolong your dog’s life. Once you find a vet you love and feel comfortable with, it is a pleasure to visit them at least once a year. I mean it will be ok for you, but as you know your dog will not find it a pleasure to see the vet. At least my dogs do not love the visit to the vet. I sometimes have the vet coming to me, especially when I have to have a check-up for all 4 dogs. Your dog's health is just as important as the health of your family. After all your dog is part of the family. Take care of your dog and get them checked on a regular basis. Your vet is trained to recognise many different ailments, sometimes detecting them long before things go wrong. Your dog could live to a ripe, old age with the proper care and the watchful eye of his veterinarian. It is essential and important that you go to your Vet on a regular schedule. At least once a year for a checkup.

Phil Shaw’s Shelf Isolation 2
In the midst of the coronavirus crisis many of us have resorted to fiction for consolation, distraction and information.
Myself, I have generally avoided harrowing dystopian tales, inventive novels about conspiracies, and books about personal tragedies — there’s enough of all this in real life which I can access through print, social and broadcast media.
Instead I have gone for more optimistic fiction, whatever ends in what Tolkien dubbed eucatastrophe, the upbeat ending, instead of the catastrophic conclusions where hearts hang heavy and melancholy pertains.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
⬆️ Medieval PPE, ancient and modern
Largely that has meant children’s fiction and fantasy. I am steadily working my way through Maria Sachiko Cecire‘s fascinating Re-Enchanted (University of Minnesota Press 2019), subtitled The Rise of Children’s Fantasy Literature in the Twentieth Century, finding insights on every page about the positive nature of modern fantasy along with some of the less salubrious aspects that rear their head — anglocentrism, imperialism, racism, and sexism, for example. While I have recently questioned the charge of escapism sometimes levelled at these genres (indeed at literature in general) I was grateful to have the chance to consider the other -isms in more detail.
But for now, let me consider the current Covid-19 buzzwords that are going the rounds — social distancing (‘physical distancing’ is perhaps better), self-isolating, contagion and pandemic — and relate them to a few novels I’ve read over the years (links are to review-discussions).
First, social distancing and self-isolation aren’t new. Robert Carse‘s The Castaways: A Narrative History of Some Survivors from the Dangers of the Sea details several who were (usually) forcibly separated from fellow humans, many literally ‘cast away’ on the open ocean or marooned on an island. But it can also happen that one can become isolated (the word is from Italian isola, an island) somewhere landlocked. This is the case with the protagonist in Robert C O’Brien‘s famous Z for Zachariah: in this meditation on solitude the lone survivor of a nuclear holocaust, holed up in a mid-Western valley in the States, finds her refuge hasn’t insulated her from an intruder who, remarkably, seems to have avoided death from radiation sickness.
The main character in Agatha Christie‘s Absent in the Spring is also, after a fashion, forced to self-isolate and in so doing does what many of us may be contemplating, how long will this last, and when it does what does the future hold? Yet her isolation comes not from a nuclear winter but from the lack of a train connection, being sick at heart a result of soul-searching, not infection. The titular character in Philippa Pearce‘s Tom’s Midnight Garden goes into quarantine with older relatives to escape being infected by his brother, who has contracted the very infectious measles virus; the story is set in 1958, ten years before a measles vaccine was available in the UK. Still, he’s curiously reluctant to return home once the danger is past.
Tumblr media
Corona typewriter, Book-ish café, Crickhowell
We’re social-distancing now to avoid a particular contagion, obviously. I read Albert Camus‘ La Peste many years ago, before I began reviewing, but that’s apparently one of the go-to novels flying off the virtual bookshelves at the moment, along with Boccaccio’s Decameron and Daniel Defoe’s A Journal of the Plague Year. But there are other significant fictions about plague of one kind or another.
I called P D James‘s The Children of Men a disturbing dystopia, a “critique of totalitarianism masquerading as a benevolent despotism, of privilege assuming it has a right to power, of religion distorted into the worst forms of superstition.” Sound vaguely familiar? Though the main events occur in 2021, crucial to the plot is the sudden drop to zero of male sperm counts around the world in the year 1995, through no known agency (though most likely due to a virus, I suspect). The author’s centenary is celebrated this August, so if you’re unfamiliar with her work this might be a good place to start. A future pandemic which also creates infertility is a trigger for Eifion Jenkins‘s future dystopia If You Fall I Will Catch You, set in the years following 2084 (aptly, 100 years after the date chosen for Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-four).
You’ll have realised that my title is a not so covert reference to Gabriel García Márquez‘s novel Love in the Time of Cholera which, though I haven’t yet read it, includes a play on words (cholera in Spanish is cólera, which can also translate as passion). I have however read his novella Of Love and Other Demons, which includes a girl bitten by a rabid dog. Though she survives she infects many others with a whole range of passions, mainly because of the fact that, as well as recovering from rabies with no ill effects, she is somehow perceived as strange, as different, as abnormal and therefore some kind of threat to society, to religion, to propriety.
A different kind of pestilence rages in Rome at the conclusion to Henry James‘s novella Daisy Miller, namely malaria, caused by a mosquito parasite and sometimes called ‘the Roman fever’ (which is also the title of one of Edith Wharton’s short stories). However, the contagion in Michael Crichton‘s The Andromeda Strain is due not to an earth-borne virus but to an extraterrestrial micro-organism from a meteor crashing into a returning spacecraft. On our planet’s surface it attacks humans by clotting their blood, causing instant death. It also mutates…
Before you get too freaked you might like to smile at my recreation of PPE for medieval quacks, or reread the titles in Phil Shaw‘s Shelf Isolation 2 (photo above) in sequence. I tried something similar to Shaw’s artwork on Twitter, and if you’re at a loose end you might like to try your hand as well — though probably with more success.
Tumblr media
Emotionally weird
It reads
“Emotionally weird, I shall wear midnight behind the scenes at the museum.” Hunted down, Titus awakes, changing planes in strangest Europe. “The Secret of this book? Understanding English place-names of giants. How to stop time? Feel the fear and do it anyway.”
Books in the time of coronavirus In the midst of the coronavirus crisis many of us have resorted to fiction for consolation, distraction and information.

Locking down the Virus, rather than locking down people. #IndiaVsCovid-19
Tumblr media
Since my inception in this world, which is almost two and a half decades now, never have I ever seen this world witness a trouble time as the one it is witnessing now. From the richest of the rich to the poorest of the poor, from the heir of the Great Britain to a common daily wager in remote Bihar, everyone has been affected by Corona Virus by some or the other way. Some are suffering health, some are suffering hunger, some are suffering economy and mostly everyone bothered in someway or the other.
Coming to the China virus, its done really well for China, which is now exporting $3000 ventilator for $50000 each and $0.02 masks for $0.20 each. Out of the several viruses we came across in the past years like the Ebola (50% mortality rate), Marburg (25%), Influenza (40%), Rabies (100%), how come a virus which has one of the least mortality rate (3.4%) of all the viruses has been able to create such a worldwide panic situation. Or is this just a game plan of China, to boost its exports by exporting fear?
People talk about how every country is trying to cope up with this situation and win the war for humanity in its own way. More precisely, even the big people from the WHO talk about how India can lead the world against this pandemic. But, is India really doing that good for itself and the world? With the kind of leadership that we have, one must admit that among all, this is the best that we have got and they are putting all efforts to uplift the country from this danger.
Lockdown, social distancing, clapping, lighting lamps and candles etc seem to be fruitful but are these really enough? Or are we missing some common sense here?
If we look at how corona virus spreads from one person to the other, its mostly when the infected person breaths out or coughs. The virus then infects the surrounding air and the surfaces nearby. Now instead of locking down people at their homes and pushing the economy to recession, how about locking down the virus itself?
We know that the vaccine for this virus is not coming anytime soon and hence we need to adapt to cope up with this virus.
If Modiji could appeal the people to make masks a part of their lifestyle compulsorily for the next few weeks, and slowly start lifting the lockdown. Within no time, the virus effect will come down to its knees and the economy will start reviving itself towards a real high growth. Just following the normal routine along with wearing masks all the time and everywhere, along with washing hands regularly, the chances of spreading the virus will come down drastically.
Just one condition that each and every person follows this religiously.
If then an infected person also comes near a healthy person, his own mask will prevent virus outbreak from him and the healthy person’s mask will further protect the latter by wiping out any minor possibility of the some particles escaping the infected person.
Now, every person needs to change at least 3 masks a day, this can be post breakfast, lunch and dinner. Followed by a proper hand-wash and disposal of the used mask. And any touching of the worn mask while having water or any other short instance of touching the nose or mouth should be done with sanitized hands.
This way the virus will remain locked down within the infected person, hence there won’t be a need of locking down the whole country. Also, we will also stop the spread of virus within the family members of the infected people.
Now the next question is how to achieve this. So, either the government can distribute a box of masks for every person just the way they are distributing ration, or people themselves can make simple masks at their homes using ordinary cloth or a hankie. Some questions will arise that how effective will be a surgical mask and a home made mask compared to the N-95 masks. So the N-95 mask prevents 95% of the liquid particles to breach inside. While the plain surgical mask prevents just 5% input. But the interesting thing is that even the ordinary mask is capable of confining the output from an infected person’s breath or coughing. So with all the people wearing even the ordinary of masks, the infected person wont let out any virus from him and the healthy person wont have a chance to intake it. Hence, this spread is bound to stop. And after buying this amount of time, our country is capable enough to produce the N-95s or N-99 masks for even better protection. As an additional information, the cost of making a plain mask is less than one rupee and the N-95 mask costs approximately 20 rupees each.
This is the time when whole world economy is hitting the rock bottom and China is continuously exporting fear to make it worse. India needs to rise and lead the world not only against the virus but also against the economic and biological world war started by China. This is the time for India to realize its $5 Trillion economy dream and beyond. To stand like a superpower and gain the global supremacy it had during the medieval era.

What to expect when you bring home a Puppy (3 months to 8 months)
In continuation to our puppy series, we share things you should expect when your pup is 3 months and older:
Your puppy at week 13 to week 20 (3 months to 5 months)
At this stage, your puppy’s teething is at full bloom. Expect to find chewed shoes, chewed furniture and anything that your puppy can find to sooth his/her teething.
• Vaccination – During the fourth month, you should focus on getting your puppy his/her third and last round of puppy vaccination. It is always necessary to have your puppy complete all the three vital rounds of puppy vaccination to ensure that your puppy is fully protected. Missing any round of vaccination may not ensure an effective vaccine protection. Vaccines due in the fourth month – Distemper, Parvo virus, Corona, Rabies and any other vaccine as advised by your vet.
• How to Manage Teething – Your puppy will be nipping and biting at every corner. While this may be a totally irritating time for you as your puppy will begin to chew household items, furniture, shoes and anything your puppy can get his hands on. However, this is a natural stage in the teething process and you can totally manage it without any stress or suffer any damage. To stop your puppy from nipping on your hands every time you are playing, make sure that you end playtime when the nipping starts. Do this continuously until your puppy understands that nipping would mean an end to playtime. You can also use the bait and switch technique – every time your pup nips at your hands/feet, redirect his attention towards a puppy chew toy instead. You can select from a chew toy, rubber toy, chew bones to help your puppy relieve his/her teething issues. At this stage, your puppy’s teeth are going to fall out and the adult teeth will push through. Most dogs have a full set of teeth by the time they are six months old. As a DIY tip, you can freeze your pup’s chew toys during summers and offer them to chew on as cold chew toys sooth the gums easily.
• Socialization tips – By week 4 your puppy must have received all the vaccination shots and he/she is ready to be outdoors and socialize with other puppies. The outings should be a fun and happy time for your puppy. Always remember to be around your puppy as you are the guardian and the protector and it is your job to ensure that your puppy stays away from any frightening or stressed out situation with other dogs. Never force your puppy to interact as it may cause fear in any future situation and can be a hindrance towards his/her much-needed social skills.
• Independence & Training – By week 5, your puppy will start to become more and more independent. From a little ball of fur who followed you around everywhere, you will find an independent toddler. It is at this stage that you must enforce a day-to-day training to set some boundaries and discipline. If you fail to do so, your puppy may have behavior issues and it will only be difficult to train your pup at a later date. Using positive reinforcement techniques is the key to ensure that you reward correct behavior. Here are some daily training tips:
• Sit before going out – Train your puppy to sit at the front door before you both go out to teach him patience. Use treats to lure your puppy to sit at the door. Then open the door and whenever your puppy stands up, close the door. Reward him every time your pup sits still upon the door being opened.
• Meal Serving Manners – Puppies are hugely motivated by food and if your puppy jumps and gets anxious every time the food is being served, then this is important to teach your pup self control. Upon serving your meal, ensure that your puppy patiently waits until the food is served and he has the permission to eat. Give the stay command and place the bowl on the floor. Every time your puppy does not stay, pick up the bowl and try in another 10 minutes. This will teach your puppy self control and will only get better with practice.
• Greeting visitors with a jump – One of the most annoying habits of puppies and dogs is how they jump on every visitor. Practice the ‘no jumping’ session as soon as you reach home. Avoid greeting your pup if he jumps on you and reward every time he listens to your command.
Teaching your dog good chewing and bad chewing habits
Your puppy is at a highly curious stage. It is exploring his/her new world by smelling, touching and at times chewing! And you should expect loads and loads of chewing as it is a natural behavior and should be channelized properly to ensure it does not turn out to be a destructive behavior.
Your puppy at week 26 to week 34 (6 months to 8 months)
At week 26, your puppy is entering adolescence or the teenage phase. All their baby teeth should have shed off to welcome adult teeth. Your puppy will be growing rapidly at this time between 6 to 8 months and there will be rapid changes in his physical development. This is the most active period of your doggie’s life. Keep your dog engaged in loads of physical activities to eliminate boredom and to avoid destructive behavior such as chewing shoes or furniture.
What Food Should My Dog Eat At This Age?
At this age, your puppy should eat a diet that is formulated for growing pups. You can reduce the feeding intervals from three times a day to two times a day. There are numerous breed specific dog foods available that offer the best of nutrition to your dog.
What about training?
Keep the basic training to avoid your dog being unruly. Some basic obedience tricks such as recall training, impulse control, etc. are important. This is also the age to offer loads of exercise to burn off the extra energy.
What about vaccinations?
By 6 months, your pup should have completed their full series of vaccination. Consult your vet on when should the next batch of vaccination start.
What should be the walking frequency?
Puppies at this age will be able to hold their urine for about 7 to 8 hours. Take them out atleast thrice a day to relieve themselves.
Puberty
If you haven’t spayed your puppy yet, expect the signs of puberty. If you have a male dog, he will be lifting his leg to mark his territory and mount on other dogs, humans and even furniture! A non-spayed female will be in heat for the first time in between 6 to 8 months of age. Non-spayed females attract males by urine and males use it to mark their territory.
Check out our carefully curated collection dedicated for puppies here.

Why are regular check-ups important | Dog care
New Post has been published on http://pettrainingdepot.com/regular-check-ups-important-dog-care/
Why are regular check-ups important | Dog care
Why are regular check-ups important? Every dog owner asks this type of question, often. If you failed to do the regular check-ups, then the dog may end up having some major diseases that you don’t know about. Hence, you need to pay lot of money both to the veterinarians for consultancy and for the required drugs useful for the therapy of the clinical condition.
One may not be able to find out the very commonly occurring clinical conditions in case of their dogs because of less experience with dog diseases or dog rearing. This is why check ups are important. For example, if the dog has potbelly, the condition may not look abnormal many times. But if the dog is subjected to the regular check-up, then the veterinarian immediately finds it out and gives the appropriate therapy. If not, the animal may experience diarrhea and the dehydration.
If the dog has any signs of illness, then don’t wait for the regular check-up. Instead, you need to approach the veterinarian immediately. Check ups if done in a regular manner will help to give vaccinations against canine distemper, parvovirus, corona virus, rabies virus, hepatitis virus, and more.
Booster vaccinations will be carried out in such cases without any delay in the injections and this helps to improve the immunity level of the dog against such diseases in a remarkable degree. Regular check up is the essential one with proper stools examination. Hence, the deworming may be carried out with drugs like fenbendazole, albendazole, etc.
Abnormalities like signs of pain may be ruled out during such examinations. If not, helminthiasis may affect the animal and diarrhea may occur in addition to the other types of digestive upsets and anemia. Regular examinations help to rule out the external parasitic conditions like lice or tick infestations. Dental problems are also found out during the regular check ups in reputed veterinary hospitals.
