2: is there a band with only one song you like?

The first thing that comes to mind is the song Goodbye Horses by Q. Lazzarus. I don’t think she had any really big songs after that, but I absolutely love that song.

4: name a great band you recently discovered

I’ve discovered that I really love Sampha. I kinda knew who he was from being featured on a Drake song, but I watched him open for The xx not too long ago and he was fucking amazing. Listened to his discography and it’s killer.

6: is there an artist whose solo career you prefer over their work with their band(s)?

Not that I can think of...

8: which song do you think should everybody listen to at least once in their lives?

Either the Ballad of Sister Sue, or When the Sun Hits by Slowdive. Both songs are so beautifully crafted and I believe everyone should listen to them at least once.

I guess Sampha would count for this one too lol. But, um... IO Echo, and EMA are some others that I can think of right now.

Opinion on Rabbits Are Roadkill On Rt. 37?

okay listen we got very few raw bitter vengeful songs Back In The Day with afi like that only started to really show on black sails with like The Last Kiss and God Called In Sick, and then ofc we got a lot more after that but not a lot of them were so openly angry yk? those are the songs that really keep me coming back to afi and they mean a lot to me and rabbits is just a solid Good song and i just!!!! love it so so much

ugh why don't I have any AFI friends anymore, I need to scream to somebody about all the fucking great songs they've been pulling out on this tour (and how grateful I am for decent quality phone footage). Rabbits are Roadkill on Rt. 37! Reiver's Music! Midnight Sun!!! Like the only thing they could do to improve this would be to add a Crash Love b-side and tbh I wouldn't put it past them for it to happen by the end of this dang tour. All I can hope for is that this pattern doesn't disappear on their next tour where I'll actually get to see them hopefully ;0;

A song by a performer you’ve seen live

I've seen AFI live somewhere between five and seven times, with friends who have seen them a LOT more, and we had a tradition of making set list requests that were a mix of things we actually wanted to see and like, jokey silly requests to show we were just having fun with the band. But we would always put a super rare B-side or two on there just in case. My favorite AFI song is one they released on a MySpace compilation album (YEAH. THAT OLD.) that they've played live maybe four times, but it was always my request. In 2013? 2014? I saw them in Cincinnati and requested it, and they played it and I cried. Then my friend got the actual setlist from the band at the end of the show and gave it to me, I still have it framed somewhere.

AFI personal story:

SO, a long, long time ago (2006/7ish?), I belonged to a couple of AFI message boards and that’s where I’d get all my AFI news and such. Now, I didn’t have a twitter or anything like that, or the internet, and news didn’t seem to travel as fast as it does now. Anyway, around this time, AFI released a few b-sides by the names of “Rabbits Are Roadkill on Rt. 37″, “Carcinogen Crush”, and “Ether”. My thing was that I HAD to have every AFI song that I could possibly get my hands on and on those message boards I was able to download mp3s of those songs from various (I guess not completely legal) sources. Suffice to say, the sound quality of those songs weren’t great (mostly decent recordings of the songs instead of the song file itself) and I’ve been listening to those same mp3s till now. It wasn’t until rn that it occurred to me that I could experience those songs as they should be heard by downloading new versions now that ppl have had a chance to upload higher quality files. SMH @ MEEEEE 5ever.
