The Pretenders with Neil Young do a great version of “My City Was Gone” from the band’s 2005 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Fun fact: From Seneca to Cuyahoga Falls is about 100 miles. Hynde’s hometown of Akron is just south of Cuyahoga Falls.

"If I were a mystic... [sighs] If I were a mystic, I guess Clarence and mine's friendship would lead me to believe that we, we stood together in other older times, ya know and uh, in other lives, along other rivers, in other ancient cities, in other fields, workin' side by side, with the sun settin', doin' our modest version of God's work. I'll see you in the next life Big Man" - Bruce Springsteen, Springsteen on Broadway, 2018
Old Man Yaoi Tournament Round 3

#“idk why the irl one is winning”#because bruce and clarence often declared their love for each other and referred to each other as soulmates#because bruce talked about clarence last - after his own wife - in his R&RHOF induction speech#with the same tenderness as if he was reading wedding vows#because bruce would eulogize clarence every night he played his one-man show on broadway#because when a rolling stone reporter asked bruce about his relationship with clarence he refused to put a label on it#anyways#bruce and clarence prob won't make it past the next round but it's been nice to offer a bit of propaganda for them <3

Well, the wedding was a resounding success. The bride and groom both said "I do".
It was a grand affair, albeit several miles out of Downtown Cleveland where we were staying. Which I have to say looks much like most larger American cities with big office buildings and hotels. But not every large town has a Great Lake sitting at the bottom of the street, nor do they have the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The lake is certainly big, though from the edge doesn't look quite so large, especially as there's a protective rock bank a short way out, so you can't see to the horizon. The R&RHoF is good fun, though predictably has larger spaces devoted to artists like Elvis, The Beatles, The Stones, Hendrix than other - more recent - artists. There were a couple of Taylor Swift dresses, but not much considering how big she is currently.

But back to the wedding. We went to a very jolly pre-wedding dinner on the Friday night out at a golf club, which was very well appointed and as it turns out quite close to the actual wedding venue. The wedding was held on the estate of the bride's grandmother, which was very much an estate, with more than one house and a lot of land, which hosted the actual ceremony and the evening meal and celebratory dancing. I can't help but think it must have cost a LOT of dollars to put the show on.
The only sour note to the day was on the trip back to the hotel in the bus, when one of the younger male attendees threw up over the back of my sister-in-law. Not a great way to end the evening to say the least!
In other news - I fell off my bike on Monday evening. Well, to be more accurate, I tripped over my bike while getting onto it because I hadn't fully decided what to do with the bag of shopping I had just picked up from Trader Joe's. Obviously I was more hurt by the embarrassment of falling off than I was physically damaged, but I do have a lovely scrape down my right shin!
It's been rather damp here this week. Not cold, but frequently rainy, especially heavy at times.

Quora: Why did Peter Cetera refuse to associate with the band Chicago after he left including the induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
(Answered by Adam Begun) In Peter’s own words: “when it’s over, its over”. Pete didn’t leave with a polite handshake and a “best to you all” attitude. He left with a “thank f*cking God I don’t ever have to do THIS/THAT again” attitude. As for the R&RHOF: he was approached by the band to sing “25 or 6 to 4” for the group’s performance that evening. The song is in the key of A minor and has been…

The Cars - The Cars
Easily one of my top ten albums of all time. I wore this one out on cassette and only recently picked it up on vinyl.
All indications are this is an original. I had heard the reissue sounds amazing so I'll keep looking for that one. This copy was well loved and it has been played a lot. 😎
Best decade in music, IMHO, was mid 70s to mid 80s. By the late 80s I think the sound started falling apart. But The Cars got it right; especially on this album. Not a bad song in the bunch (yes, even In Touch with Your World! lol) You can play the whole thing back to back on repeat. From the three singles, (Needed, Best Friends and Good Times) to the well known "album tracks" like Moving In Stereo, this 1978 release is a must-have LP for the "80's" sound!

R+RHOF NIN fan day Q&A poster.
IMO, this is the holy grail of NIN memorabilia. The embossed poster was given away along with a tote bag to all the guests at the event. I had considered going, but the logistics didn’t work out. Had I known the NIN alumni would be in attendance (and perform live the next evening), I would have spent the cash to overcome the logistical conflict. Le Sigh.
Personally, the only in-person autographs I’m missing are Richard Patrick, Chris Vrenna, and Atticus Ross.
