My favourite movies
In no particular order. I'll say a couple of words why they are too.
Eternal Sunshine Of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Such a visually stunning movie, God Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey were such good picks for this. Genuinely changed my perspective on life and romance, like alot of these will haha.
The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
Honestly reminds me of my relationship with my own dad, the music in this movie is gorgeous and I cried so much. The ending makes you feel as if you're the one with the success and that's such an unexplored theme.
A Clockwork Orange (1971)
I put off watching this for SO LONG. God please watch it, such an interesting and twisted narrative on if mankind can be truly "fixed" from evil, or just forced. Kubrics cinematography in this is AMAZING. A foreword though for graphic r*pe and heavy themes, although they play a big part of the plot.
Catch Me if You Can (2002)
One of the more "lighthearted" on this list to be fair, which says alot. Genuinely clever and witty in the plot, and quick!! Leonardo De Caprio was brilliant in this role and wouldn't of expected anyone else to play him. And Tom Hanks too.
The Truman Show (1998)
If you want the most heartbreaking "psychological horror" watch this, again, Jim Carrey did the perfect job. The angles, music and general beauty of this movie will make you so confused and literally entranced.
It's A Wonderful Life (1946)
This is the oldest but God does it hold well, the way it holds the message of someone's importance regardless of how little they think they do, and SHOWS it, is something so interesting. Anyway, I don't care at all that it's sorta a Christmas movie.
The Prince of Egypt (1998)
Even if you're not religious you need to watch this. Everytime someone brings it up I have to sit down and rant because the MUSIC, THE ANIMATION, THE PLOT, THE VOICE ACTING. I literally have nothing against this movie. "Deliver us" is the best opening I've ever seen in a movie and the way it builds a MASSIVE world and characters is amazing.
(had to put in a massive GIF its so good)
Avatar (2009)
Don't even care how popular Avatar is, I had to include it, beautiful plot, beautiful CGI, probably the only time I approve of a mostly CGI movie, it's gorgeous and the world that James Cameron helped to create makes me respect him even more.
Stardust (2009)
As if I couldn't love Neil Gaiman anymore mwah, love it, so funny and cute and mmmm yes okay 10/10. Totally coherent review ♡
Alright I've run out I'll make a shows one next xoxo

For the fic writer ask game: ✈️👁️😀
✈️if you could be transported into one of your fics which would you chose?
probably either be kind, unwind (SPN RPF, jared/jensen) or water out of wine (captain america, steve/bucky - as of yet unfinished).
the first one because i genuinely like all the characters (especially danneel) and because i would just love to be part of the silly rom-com story this turned out to be.
the second because i just want to be natasha romanov and watch these two idiot sexy geriatrics misunderstand each other even after seventy years of being in love. also, i just want to help steve through his obvious depression.
👁 have you ever accidentally foreshadowed something you fully didn't intend to happen?
i can't immediately think of a good example, but i think i must have. i used to start writing without properly thinking about where i wanted a story to go and i would just see where the characters would end me up - i've quite changed strategies since then, but it used to be my favourite part of writing a story when you just watch a story unfold itself and you get to this moment where everything just clicks and the whole thing suddenly makes sense.
i did have a kind of eureka moment when planning OLITDP, but i don't want to spoil the story, so you'll have to read on to figure out what that moment is.
😀which of your fics did you not think a lot people would like but they did?
honestly, it's 100% our love is these days' piano (bridgerton, penelope/anthony, in progress). i started writing it purely because i liked the idea of penelope getting (what i feel is) the biggest catch in the show? i had no idea there were so many people who didn't like penthony as a ship. and when i posted it, i thought it might get like ten kudos and maybe a comment here or there. but now it's turned out to be the most succesful fic i've ever written.
in all fairness, i also expected it to be a light-hearted romp of six or seven chapters, so i was wrong on all counts where OLITDP is concerned.
thanks for the ask, @colettebronte!!
i also got an anonymous ask for this one, so i'm answering it here too:
🎥If you could make a movie/tv show for one of your fics which one would you chose?
i think probably cut here (SPN RPF, jared/jensen), but i feel that's kind of a cop-out, because i wrote it for spn_cinema and it's based on eternal sunshine of the spotless mind?
but i'm genuinely proud of this one, because i truly like the jensen and jared relationship i've written here. i think they're both pretty rounded characters and i feel that's one of the few strengths i have as a writer - or at least one i hope i have.
also, go look at @amindaya's amazing art and tell me this isn't something you want to see on your screen.
also, shoutout to R&R (doctor who, nine/rose). i don't want to toot my own horn too much, but i think this would make an interesting episode of doctor who. it's one i would like to watch, at least.

イ. ⸺ 𝗞𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶 𝗡𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗮 𝗘𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗲
In the realm of nights and the melodies of the day, she reflects the charm of moonlit tranquility and daytime serenity. Identified by the pronouns she/her, interaction is restricted for those underage, abrupt, prejudiced, impolite, or promoting negativity. Remarkably perceptive, she tunes into the subtleties of conversations, swiftly capturing the essence even in the briefest exchanges.
Film and TV series enthusiast ( アマチュアオタク。)
She truly delights in engaging conversations and has a chatty nature. While she's generally quick to respond to messages, there are times when she might take a bit longer. Her passion lies in the world of cinema, and she's open to deep discussions on the subject, willing to invest a significant amount of time—up to several hours, if needed. One of her charming traits is her attentive listening, always eager to absorb information and insights from others.
She stays on top of the latest happenings in the entertainment industry, keeping a close eye on recent film and TV releases. Her taste in movies spans a broad spectrum, from eagerly awaited sequels like Top Gun: Maverick and John Wick: Chapter 4 to international gems like Titanic, Suzume, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and independent films such as A Man Called Otto, Past Lives, and Noktah Merah Perkawinan. Blockbusters like Harry Potter, The Batman, No Time to Die, and Fast and Furious appeal to her, as do action-packed spy movies like Mission Impossible.
On the television front, she's just as diverse in her preferences. Dramas like The Queen’s Gambit, Scenes From a Marriage, Severance, and Chernobyl capture her interest, along with coming-of-age stories like Normal People and supernatural/fantastical shows such as Stranger Things, The Umbrella Academy and Spinning Out. She, also, has a profound passion for crime, thriller, and mystery TV shows like Criminal: United Kingdom and Germany. The medical drama The Good Doctor is another favorite. Furthermore, she indulges in captivating international series such as Detective Conan and Youth of May, a Korean drama, and immerses herself in the timeless masterpieces crafted by Studio Ghibli, including Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Howl’s Moving Castle. Notably, she's eagerly anticipating the TV adaptation of the beloved video game, The Last of Us.
Kashi's musical palette is quite extensive, drawing the attention of many. She's into a diverse range of genres, including alt-pop, pop (semi-rock), and R&B. Her playlist features tracks from artists like DPR IAN, Charles Leclerc, Mäneskin, Celine Dion, Westlife, LAUV, Billie Eilish, Lewis Capaldi, and GFRIEND.
Alongside her love for music, she's deeply engaged in the Formula 1 world, with Scuderia Ferrari and Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Carlos Sainz, Max Verstappen, and Oscar Piastri earning her favor as her preferred constructor and drivers.
Despite finding joy in the tranquility of living alone and cherishing the small, humorous moments that bring a smile to her face, Kashi is a sensitive soul, easily moved to tears. Yet, this sensitivity is complemented by her natural ability to empathize with others and offer support when needed.

So many.
Grease and Wizard of Oz a LOT through childhood because I had Anniversary Edition videotapes with behind the scenes documentaries, and I've always been just as (if not more) interested in HOW films get made.
The movies I remember renting the most from Blockbuster were Sailor Moon R, Thumbelina, The Swan Princess, The Last Unicorn
Fern Gully was the only videotape I remember there being in a kids room in a hospital when my mother was sick with cancer and so I watched it All The Time and it became a huge favorite.
I've seen The Iron Giant and Road to El Dorado probably a hundred times each and still love both dearly
Watched The Sound of Music constantly throughout my youth
Watched Anastasia constantly throughout my youth
Then watched Gremlins constantly (9-10 years old)
Then watched Beetlejuice constantly (I rented it from the video store one spring break when I was about 11 and watched it several times a day every single day of spring break and I still love it)
As a teenager the things I remember watching repeatedly the most are : Heathers, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Rent, Pump up the Volume, Wayne's World, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, Edward Scissorhands, The Breakfast Club, The Doom Generation
In my 20s the movies I remember watching repeatedly the most are: Waking Life, I Heart Huckabees, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Valerie and Her Week of Wonders, Bram Stoker's Dracula
I still have most of the physical copies- vhs and DVDs- of most of these, but nowadays in the world of streaming infinite options, I don't rewatch things over and over the way I used to
which movies have you watched the most amount of times? they dont have to be your actual favorite movies, just the ones youve rewatched most. for example: mine are the final destination movies and scream

I kept thinking of that poll from yesterday about writing down a list of 100 fav movies and so I just gave it a quick try...
Alien (don't make me choose between 1&2)
Heathers
The Breakfast Club
Nightmare on Elm Street (1, 3, 7)
but I'm a cheerleader
Star Wars 4, 5, 6
The Faculty
The Goonies
Terminator (1, 2, Dark Fate)

Mulan
The Little Mermaid
Lilo & Stitch
The Emperor's New Groove
Brave
Maleficent
The Hunger Games
GhostBusters (this franchise has no bad entry)
Scream (much like with Alien the third comes in last, but here the whole franchise is one big banger)
The Sixth Sense
Signs
Stardust
X-Men: Days of Future Past (I love almost all foX-Men films though, but 2 and DoFP are the best)
Avengers, Age of Ultron, Infinity War, Endgame (let me put them in a row and I will not pick any more from the MCU)
The Dark Knight
Back to the Future
Jurassic Park
The Lord of the Rings (SEE please)
North by Northwest
Witness for the Prosecution
Some Like it Hot
Mulholland Drive
Raiders of the Lost Ark (also Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, no wait probably more so 3>1, the others are fine)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Charlie's Angels + Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Pirates of the Caribbean (1, 2, 3)
Stephen King's IT Chapter One (funny enough I probably wouldn't qualify Two as a fav on its own, though it's a good and necessary second half of the story, but Chapter One is where it's at)
Carrie (1976)
The Mist (black-and-white is dope)
Misery
Stand by Me
Spaceballs
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Adventures in Babysitting
The Invisible Man (2020)
Pitch Black
Sunshine
The Cabin in the Woods
Evil Dead (especially 2)
Event Horizon
The Blob (1988)
Death Becomes Her
Steel Magnolias
A Fish called Wanda
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (German Dub supremacy though, Volle Kanne Hoshy)
Stranger than Fiction
An American Werewolf in London
The Silence of the Lambs
Starship Troopers
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Mamma Mia
Little Shop of Horrors
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Moulin Rouge
The Craft
A Chinese Ghost Story
Lady Vengeance
Silver Hawk
Dr. Wai in the Scripture with No Words (had to look up the English title, hey it's Jet Li's version of Indiana Jones and I have a soft spot for this one, even though it's far from Li's best and has so many flaws due to being a nightmare production)
Parasite
Mallrats
St. Trinian's
Ginger Snaps
The Fountain
Galaxy Quest
Elvira - Mistress of the Dark
Cruel Intentions
St. Elmo's Fire
Shaun of the Dead
Rock'n'Roll High School
The Prestige
Underworld (the first above all else)
Resident Evil (especially Afterlife)
Playing by Heart
The Heat
Kill Bill
Ever After
Donnie Darko
Happy Death Day
Trick 'r Treat
D.E.B.S.
Wait, how have I already reached 100? There aren't even the quirky films (like TiMER) or the fun horror trash (my love for Deep Blue Sea is endless). Didn't dive into European films (Amélie) or specific German stuff (bandits). I can do a 100 list for horror alone easily (omg not even The Haunting on here).
Anyway do not question how my mind wandered from title to title, also there is zero ranking involved. Damn, there are five on the list that I don't own on DVD or BD. hmmmm... What does favorite movie even mean? Who knows. In any case for the past few months I've gone back far more to stuff I already know instead of watching new things (that I plan to watch some day, but well, it never felt right).

Ohhhh I love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind!!!! It's one of my favorite movies. A very close friend of mind recommend it to me years ago and I LOVED IT VERY MUCH. I loved everything about it. I loved how Clem's hair color played a significant role about their relationship. It's actually one of those movies that I wish I could forget so I can experience watching it like the very first time. That movie was a masterpiece to me. I loved movies that hurts me deeply 🫣😏 (another example: Scarlett's HER).
- 🦄
It's actually why I placed R's mom in Montauk 🤭
I liked the idea of being able to erase someone, and then struggling through the process because you realize that you'd rather feel the pain of the memory than be without it altogether. I also love the stories of the side characters, the one where Kirsten Dunst underwent the procedure because she fell in love with a married man, but she fell in love with him again anyway. Love can be evitable like that you know?
Oh my god, I love Her. The power of Scarlett's acting, just using her voice. God, i felt her in that film.

~top nine movies tag game~
tagged by @neonun-au (ty mads!)
l-r, top to bottom: spirited away (miyazaki), eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (gondry), marie antoinette (sofia coppola), ratatouille (bird), pride and prejudice (wright), the muppet movie (frawley), scream (craven), midsommar (aster), the cranes are flying (kalatozov)
random thoughts about each film and two ~honorable mentions~ behind the cut because i wouldn’t be a failed film studies major if i didn’t talk about all the dumb things i love about movies
spirited away: my dad took me to see this as a surprise when it had a limited release and was playing at the arthouse theater an hour away (the same one i go to today, albeit its a ~5 min drive now) i know its cliche, but this movie changed my life. there are many little habits in my life that stem from watching the dvd on repeat as a child, teen, and now an adult. i love most ghibli works, but nothing will beat spirited away.
eternal sunshine: i have a love/hate relationship with manic pixie dream girls and the trope in general, but fuck do i love kate winslet as clem in this. probably my least watched film on this list (bc it hurts each time), but a forever fav.
marie antoinette: the soundtrack. the aesthetics. a visual and audio dream. parts of it are silly and absurd, but i can overlook those for all the beautiful shots of versailles. kiki dunst for life.
ratatouille: in a former life i was a big pixar nut with dreams of working there one day in the marketing dept (lol). i have deep rooted and controversial pixar takes, but i stanned ratatouille looooong before tiktok turned it into a musical and a meme.
pride and prejudice: do i need to explain my love for this one bc lord knows i reblog mads regency au!taeil fic enough for my love of p&p 05 to be known lmfao
the muppet movie: rainbow connection makes me cry every time lol. but also just a feel good movie.
scream: the first horror movie i could stomach in my early 20′s lol. will forever have a crush on sidney prescott.
midsommar: the second horror movie i could stomach (and only bc i read the script in advance so i knew what was coming lol) i even made my own may queen halloween costume that year and wore it to work at ikea lmfao. ~skål~
the cranes are flying: i had to watch this film twice in college (womens studies course on feminism in post WW2 russia and again for films of the USSR) and i can’t explain why i love this movie, but i do? the cinematography is excellent, but the plot slumps in the second half. soviet cinema has some real interesting stuff, but this was ultimately my favorite of anything i had to watch for class.
plus two honorable mentions not pictured: the handmaiden and little forest, both starring kim tae-ri. every other film on this list is a tried and true favorite of mine for at least a couple of years/repeat viewings, and these two films were just watched for the first time in 2022. little forest particularly has stuck with me, as someone with weird eating issues. the whole idea of a film where the protagonist is hungry both in the literal and figurative sense. i am too, as of late. its free to watch on viki and under 2 hours in length. highly recommend if you need ‘healing’ content (a word i haaate to use, but in this case certainly fits)
