Greetings, Bibliophiles!
Greetings fellow book lovers! My name is Deanna and I decided to create this page so I can share my love of books and fully immerse myself in the book reading community.
I have always loved to read. As a kid, I spent lots of time zipping through books like Wild Magic and Stephen King's The Eye of the Dragon. The time I have spent with books over the years has definitely made an impact on me as an individual. While I lost interest in reading for probably 20+ years, I have recently found my love of reading again and have no intentions of holding back!
I am a wife and mother of 2 and currently work in a hospital as a med/surg secretary. While I am not a fast reader I find that I have a lot of time on my hands throughout the day so I manage to consume quite a bit of content. I am a little OCD and have a bad habit of obsessing over the things I enjoy. You'll see as time goes on how this comes into play.
But for now, I thought my first blog should be a "getting to know you" post so you can learn a little more about me!
1) Favorite book of all time
My favorite book of all time (at present) is A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas. While I do have several other books that are on par or even rated higher, this is the one that I think back on often and still swoon over.
2) Favorite book five years ago
My favorite book from five or more years ago would probably be Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynn Jones. This book was beautifully whimsical and so very different from the movie that first piqued my interest. The content left out by the movie was some of my favorites from the gifts given to the journey undergone.
3) Favorite Duology/Trilogy/Series
My favorite series to date is probably The Boys of Chapel Crest by K G Reuss. This is a Dark Bully Asylum Romance and it captivated me. The pain the characters go through and the unification between them is heart wrenching. While I haven't yet finished this series, I have one more book that I'm holding off on until the last two books come out so I'm not trapped on a cliffhanger.
4) Last book you read
The last book I read was The Ever Queen by L J Andrews. I was initially hesitant about this series after starting the first book. The writing is a little foreign to me based solely on the accents and terminology used but the characters. But that's to be expected since it's Vikings and Pirates in the same setting.
5) Last book of poetry you read
Ummm... maybe Edgar Allen Poe's collective works? I'm not much of a poetry or classics reader. I like my fantasy and contemporary romances.
6) What book most influenced your life
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. This book renewed my love of reading to the point of obsession. I couldn't be more grateful to her and to this book. I had been struggling with my OCD the past several years as well as using the friends I had RPd with and this book fell into my lap when I needed an outlet most.
7) Book that made you ugly cry
When Lies Unfold by R C Boldt made me sob. The ending. That’s all I will say.
8) Book that made you laugh
Oh gosh, definitely Lights Out by Navessa Allen. I listened to this one on Audiobook and it was well worth it. Josh was so funny, I couldn't get over how goofy and adorable of a golden retriever he was.
9) Character you’d like to be for a day
Honestly, probably Wendy Darling from the Lost Girl series by T A Lawrence. While she goes through a great deal, I love the idea of being a mother to all those boys. To being the light in their darkness to give them something better to work towards. Even Hook. I just loved this series (can't hurt me with a good retelling).
10) Book so good you dreamt about it
I can't say I've dreamt about any of my books recently. And anything older than this past year I wouldn't be able to say as it's been so long. But there are several that I think about regularly:
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas
Phantasma by Kaylie Smith
The Boys of Chapel Crest series by K G Reuss
When Lies Unfold by R C Boldt
Lights Out by Navessa Allen
The Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros
11) Book you DNF
Ugh, I hate thinking about this. I've DNF'd two in the past year. Thankfully they're few and far between but the one that makes me angry at myself is Ours by A K Rose. I ordered the special editions of this complete 9 book series. I adored the first book. The second book I struggled through with the characters making some really stupid decisions and withholding information just for plot purposes. But I powered through! The third book, however, those same miscommunications and stupid decisions persisted and I could not get past chapter 5. I don't know if the rest of the series is any better but I'm still fuming that I spent so much money on a series that I DNF'd by the 3rd book. I have been rethinking my habits of buying series all in one go ever since.
12) Name a book you are excited to read
I am very excited to pick up Fairydale by Veronica Lancet. I've seen snippits about this book and everyone who talks about it is raving. It's definitely on my list to pick up next weekend when I go to the book store. If they don't have it I'll pick it up online. I want to read it that badly!
************************************************************************
I hope that you were able to learn a little bit more about me! I cannot wait to begin writing blogs and posting book reviews! Do not hesitate to give me book recommendations!

An Armored Heart by R. C. Boldt
An Armored Heart is the fourth book by R. C. Boldt that I have read. The previous books of hers I read fell into the category of paranormal romance and romantic suspense. I enjoyed them and so I picked up An Armored Heart, which falls in the contemporary romance category, expecting great things. It did not disappoint. In her newest release she gives her readers a mash up of a fake relationship,…

He Loves Me... Knot by R.C. Boldt
Tumblr media
Rating:  ❤ ❤  1/2
Genre: Chick-lit; contemporary romance
Release Date:  14 November 2017
Synopsis:
Sometimes love needs a second chance… I never looked back after skipping out on my own wedding, even if it did leave me estranged from most of my family. Eight years later, I have the life I’ve always wanted. As an advertising account executive, my world is damn near perfect. Until I come face-to-face with my past. With the man I once loved. The man who holds my future in his hands. The man who’s hell-bent on getting even with me for leaving him at the altar. Even with all the unfinished business between us, I still love Knox Montgomery. The only problem? He loves me…KNOT.
“The thing about encountering someone from your past, someone you were never able to get closure with, is when you see them, there’s always this tiny ache in the center of your chest. As if your heart recognizes that person without you articulating a single word; it immediately recalls the agonizing pain it once endured. The pain might ease with time, but it will always remain; it will never cease to be a vulnerability. For me, that’s Knox Montgomery.”
Emma Jane, Emma Jane. We spend so much time with Emma Jane, and yet, I want to yell at her.
Loudly.
Angrily.
Because SERIOUSLY?
Anyways.
Emma Jane left her wedding, her family, her fiance, everyone she knew, met a pro footballer (...how?), became his best friend (.... even more how??), and then 8 years pass in the turn of a page.
Don’t worry- we get plenty of flashbacks to let us see their past, both from Emma Jane’s perspective, as well as Knox Montgomery’s- yes, his name is Knox. I know, I want to change it too.
The premise isn’t horrible- a second chance at love? Sign me up. However, the delivery fell flat.
“I’m not certain I can truly be friends with someone who’s dealt such a devastating blow to my heart. The old adage about forgiving and forgetting is unfathomable to me because I don’t believe it’s possible to erase the memory of the pain Knox inflicted on my heart. Which means the smart thing to do is to politely refuse his offer. As it turns out, I’m not smart at all when it comes to this man.”
You spend the whole book wanting to find out why Emma Jane left Knox at the altar, and when you find out, you sit there staring at the page/screen for a moment. Then another. And another yet. Because is that what I waited a whole book to find out? Really?
“I hesitate a moment, as a part of me realizes how ridiculous it was to have to document an employee going home sick for the day. But I did this and…  No. I mentally shake off the errant thoughts trying to cloud my vision. She did this. She’s the one who set this in motion years ago.”
After two books in a row with a similar concept, I’m gonna call it- I am not a fan of the “romance with the boss” trope at all. Especially when that relationship is used in some way, which it is in both books.
Beckett, the best friend (and NFL star- again, how???), is the star of this story. He gets this not only for putting up with Emma Jane, but for being an awesome guy. From the moment you meet him, you can tell he’s a Good Guy, something we need more of in stories.
I wouldn’t mind reading other work by Boldt, as I enjoyed the style of writing in this book. This book just happened to be one that I didn’t enjoy the subject matter of.
Happy ending? Yes. Ish. Emma Jane is happy, in any case. It’s a quick read, done in a couple of hours, and nothing too strenuous. Just a bunch of eye rolling because COME ON CHARACTERS, BE CORPOREAL SO I CAN YELL AT YOU ALREADY.

My February Wrap-Up | http://thesociallyawkwardscientist.blogspot.co.uk/2017/03/my-february-wrap-up.html Sometimes, it's the dark and disturbing that make the best reads; sometimes, a book has that rare ability to put your emotions through the wringer, bleed your heart dry and gut you with the power of its words. Maybe, like me, you relish that kind of torture and will take this month's special rec on board🐿💀

R.C Boldt is fast climbing the list of authors who are must reads for me. I went into Too Good at Goodbyes unsure about where the book was going to go and Ms Boldt blew me away with Simone’s story.
Simone, the female lead in Too Good at Goodbyes, is an incredibly strong character. I loved the multiple layers to her persona and the way some of her more vulnerable moments were revealed as the story…

Repartiendo unos cuantos millones
Jay y Bey vuelven a casa

I felt like a kid in a candy store running up and down aisles lined with every shape and size of RV you can imagine. Big ones, small ones, red ones, blue ones. There were RVs that looked exactly like how I pictured them to be, and others that looked like they were created for astronauts.

The Best RVs of 2019 Revealed at RVX
Last week, we had a chance to attend RVX: The RV Experience with Go RVing’s Kickoff to Camping Season. As a trade-only event, we got an exclusive look into the RV industry and all the exciting innovations that are happening. If you only started following us recently, we lived in an Airstream for three months. I still vividly remember the first time I got behind the wheel. It was equally exciting and intimidating, but after a few moments on the road, the excitement overcame all my other emotions. There were definitely new aspects to living on the road that we had to learn, but it was a lot easier than we thought it would be and we absolutely loved how free it felt to go and live anywhere.
Since leaving our Airstream, we still talk about getting back into an RV. We recently bought a car (we’ll be sharing more about that in a future post), and one of our must-haves was the ability to tow at least 5,000 lbs. Our current plan is to eventually get an RV that we can live on the road with 2-3 months at a time out of the year. Being at RVX reignited the excitement about that.
Even though we’re pretty familiar with the RV world, there were still so many types of RVs we had never seen. There really is something for every budget and lifestyle. Want to go all out with a patio, garage, spacious bathroom, reclining chairs, and washer/dryer? You’ll find plenty of luxury options. Prefer something eco-friendly and sustainable? They have an all-electric RV. Looking for something that’s easy to get around in since you’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors? Plus, there’s everything in between.
More: Recap of Our Endless Caravan
We prefer a mix of luxury and convenience, and of course something photogenic. The huge RVs are luxurious. The amount of comfort and amenities that they have always wow us. We spent a lot of time during the show just sitting and hanging out inside these RVs. We still want the luxury of an RV, but in something more compact so we can move easily. We also really like the trailer set up so we can leave our home and still take our car out for micro adventures in the area.
The Reveal
One of the most exciting moments at the conference was The Reveal, where they highlighted the industry’s best new products. They had nine different categories and a panel of consumer media and social media experts selected their faves. It really shows you how wide of a selection there is within the RV world.

Litigation Update: Zantac Leadership Is Selected
On Friday, May 8th, District Judge Robin Rosenberg, of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, appointed 26 lawyers to a range of leadership positions to the Zantac MDL that was transferred to Florida last February. Initially, the Judge had created an interim team to handle some special tasks given the Covid-19 outbreak. Zantac was removed from the shelves earlier this year after the FDA announced that its active ingredient, ranitidine, was shown to allegedly cause cancer. The appointments include four Co-Lead Counsel: Tracy Finken Magnotta (Anapol Weiss), Robert Gilbert (Kopelowitz Ostrow Ferguson Weiselberg Gilbert), Michael McGlamry (Pope McGlamry) and Adam Pulaski (Pulaski Kherkher PLLC). Additionally, 15 members were appointed to the Steering Committee: Rosemarie Riddell Bogdan (Martin, Harding & Mazzotti), Mark J. Dearman (Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP), Elizabeth A. Fegan (Fegan Scott LLC), Marlene J. Goldenberg (Goldenberglaw, PLLC), Roopal P. Luhana (Chaffin Luhana LLP), Ricardo M. Martinez-Cid (Podhurst Orseck, P.A.), Lauren S. Miller (Cory Watson, P.C.), Melanie H. Muhlstock (Parker Waichman LLP), Daniel A. Nigh (Levin, Papantonio, Thomas, Mitchell, Rafferty & Proctor, P.A.), Carmen S. Scott (Motley Rice, LLC), Mikal C. Watts (Watts Guerra LLP), Sarah N. Westcot (Bursor & Fisher, P.A.), Conlee S. Whiteley (Kanner & Whiteley, L.L.C.), R. Brent Wisner (Baum Hedlund Aristei & Goldman, P.C.), and Frank Woodson (Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C.). In an innovative effort to give access to new lawyers to acquire experience in the MDL leadership field, Judge Rosenberg created a “Leadership Development Committee” with the following appointments: Paige Boldt (Watts Guerra LLP), Je Yon Jung (May Lightfoot, PLLC), Adam William Krause (Krause and Kinsman, LLC), Nicola Larmond-Harvey (Saunders & Walker, P.A.), and Bradford B. Lear (Lear Werts LLP). These five lawyers will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the logistics of a major MDL and learn from experienced mentors such as co-chairs Melanie Muhlstock (Parker Waichman) and Carmen Scott (Motley Rice).  Judge Rosenberg made a point to emphasize the diversity of the applicant pool and her intentions to help increase the opportunities and demographics in MDL leaderships. She also commented that only 31 percent of the applicants were women, a very small number of applicants identified themselves as non-Caucasian, and none identified as LGBTQ or disabled. Other appointments included: Ashley Keller (Keller Lenkner) as chairman, and Fred Longer (Levin, Sedran & Berman) as co-chairman, of the Law & Briefing Committee, and Daniel Nigh (Levin, Papantonio, Thomas, Mitchell, Rafferty & Proctor) as chairman of the Science & Experts Committee. Additionally Mikal Watts (Watts Guerra) and Brent Wisner (Baum, Hedlund, Aristei & Goldman), were appointed as co-chairs of the Bellwether & Trial Team. Lastly, according to the Order, “In PTO #15, the Court ordered that the deadline for the first tranche of Census Plus Forms would be 60 days from the date of this Order (Order filed 5/8/2020). The Court hereby extends the deadline for submission of the Census Plus Forms for both filed and unfiled cases by 14 days. This extension shall only apply to those forms for cases filed in the MDL on or before May 22, 2020, or cases for which retention agreements are signed on or before May 22, 2020. Deadlines for cases filed or retained after May 22, 2020 are not extended by this Order.” Click on this link for information on Zantac’s Litigation Support Services.
