Beyond War on Terror Dear Big Fan of History, Crackdowns were never the answer, and annihilation never worked. They only breed grassroot networks of revenge and guerrilla warfare. Guerilla warefare is a very different ball game; elephants stand stranded for they can't follow the mice to the holes, and their ethics prevent them from stepping on innocent lives in the chase; if not out of morality than out of fear of turning the mice's loved ones against the elephants. And if elephants managed to recruit cats to catch the mice, the mice will breed faster for survival, especially when backed by a fascist ideology based on a distorted view of religion that supports it; an ideology that recruits and conditions the alienated, disfranchised, dismembered, incarcerated and stigmatized — way beyond war zones and areas of conflict. My heart bleeds with every drop of blood spilled, for I know that it feeds the disease of perpetual violence; and I know it is not the answer; not the solution. War never succeeded in annihilating an idea-virus, and never will, says history. I'm aware of the initiatives and steps being taken for reform and development in the perceived zone of conflict, and I consider them a step in the right direction ONLY IF, and ONLY WHEN the root cause and not the symptoms are addressed and treated. Otherwise, the casualties will carry much more expensive bills in terms of human life, properties, and projects of great potential. I know you're in a very tight spot, and as a soldier, you might be doing what you think is best. I'm not here to criticize; I'm here to empathize, and pray for the best of outcomes.
