All Chloe could manage at this point were smiles and eye rolls, but at this point, it was "quintessential Deckerstar" as Lucifer put it. She stared into his eyes, but then the moment was ruined by her cell going off. She rolled her eyes as she answered. "Decker," her mood immediately dropped and a dark look crossed her face. "No, I will not accept his call." This was the fifth time the person on the other line had called her. She looked back up at Lucifer after taking a deep breath and calming herself down. "We should go back inside. I have to talk to Eve."

A glaring example of Lucifer's growth was right there, in the simple fact that he'd not only forgiven Chloe for how she reacted to him and what she'd done and had almost done, but he understood it more than ever. After being with Eve, someone who claimed to love and care for him but spent every moment trying to change him, it really put things into perspective for him. Sure, Chloe didn't have the ideal reaction off the bat, and she'd hurt him after the fact, but she'd come around. She was trying. She was providing a space for him to be himself, whereas Eve was only working to hold him back. The contrast made it all more apparent who was in his corner and who wasn't. It made him smile to know the Detective was there for him at the end of the day. "Thank you, Detective. Thank you for being honest with me, even when it's hard." His smile turned mischievously into a smirk as he continued. "So yes, let's be honest, you love my skillset. You love my help, you'd be lost without me!"

Still feeling a bit playful, albeit with a more calm approach, of course he remembered their conversation. He cherished every moment he's ever spent with Chloe, and he'd tell her as much in less of a softass way. "It was a pivotal moment for us, Detective! I knew in that moment, should you have me, I'd prove it to you." A bit gentler still, he continued. "And don't you remember what else you said? You said I didn't scare you. It took some time, but I think we're back to that." Chloe was the last person in the universe he'd want to scare. In fact, all he wanted was to protect her. "Perhaps we'll arrange a meeting! I'd certainly love to see that. You'll have to promise me time to fetch some popcorn though!" There was his devilish wit in all of its humour. It meant a lot to him though, even if it was just a thought.

To verbalize the difference between Chloe and Eve as it pertained to his own identity and the acceptance thereof was a weirdly difficult thing to do, but a lot can happen in eight months. In those eight months, he'd been shown who was there for him honestly and with the right intentions. It didn't matter so much that Chloe was still struggling with the Devil face because if she truly accepted him at his core, then that fear would eventually subside. It was increasingly obvious that Eve's love and support were Devil face-deep, and that was just something he couldn't live with anymore. Maybe Chloe didn't realize how much she'd proven herself to him already, but he intended to show her how much it meant to him by sticking by her and putting her first now. "I think you're right, Detective. And that's why the choice is so clear now. So easy." He tilted his head as he finished, feeling a wave of relief as he looked into her beautiful blue eyes. He'd definitely made the right choice.
