So what's your mom like? She still with us?
She's still kickin'! Bless her heart. She's younger than my daddy but they're still up their high 70's by now. I'll take my hat off sayin this but I ain't all sure they got much juice left in em. Pa's strong as ever but Mama has trouble writin' back to me sometimes. Issues in her wrist.
I come home every summer. Worried one of these might be the last in which I got folks waitin'. Gonna have to hire a ranch hand to watch the animals after that until I retire.
Anyway, she's a right old sweetheart, my momma. Darlin' thing, her name is Dolly. Suits her just right. Quiltin', knittin', she loves that stuff. She cooks, bakes- or used to. Does enough to keep them livin' nowadays, but she's always made up a hearty meal when I visit.
She's a short thing– shorter than me. Head full'a white. Glasses. Pudgy, n loves pink n blue together. I remember how she used ta be with the animals when I was a boy. One'a my first memories of doin' anything with her was her feeding a calve whose mother was dry. I think she was teachin' me the know-hows but I couldn't focus none. The animals were excitin' and my Mama was damn cool.
She's still Southern strong. I think she'd do just fine without my daddy, even as slow as she is now.
Man, I love my ma.

Hello Bathroom My Old Friend
I've been betrayed by my butt. A Buttrayal, if you will. Not sure what caused it, but I cancelled my classes for the day.
I do not make enough money to risk shitting myself in front of a room full of quiltin' ladies.
I have IBS, and I'm without a gallbladder, so I am very careful to avoid triggers. However, thanks to Covid, stress is a trigger, too. Geez. Thanks, body.
Also thanks to Covid, I can't eat anything with chocolate, peanut, coffee, onion, or garlic in it. (Can't even have it in the house. Ugh.)
I used to adore Indian food. I can't get near any of the restaurants now.
Thanks to the IBS I can't eat any MSG, which also means I have to be super careful about foods that are naturally high in glutamate. So no commercially produced soups, very few salad dressings, almost no boxed dinner type things, no breaded and fried fast food, no Honey Baked Ham, no sausage, and no Chinese buffet. (Interestingly, I have a close relationship with the few Asian places that are kind enough to make my food without MSG and I'm pathetically grateful to them.)
So there's precious little that I can eat as it is! I don't need new triggers! Goddamn it!

Saving Time and Improving Accuracy With Fabric Cutters For Quilting
With the advance of technology is revolving and making it easier for the artists. An 18 x 24 cutting mat is available in the market for the convenience of the quilters so that they won't harm themselves or other items like tables, etc.
1. The Traditional Quilting Challenges
Traditionally, quilters used scissors or rotary cutters to manually cut fabric pieces for their quilts. This process was labor-intensive and often resulted in uneven shapes and imprecise measurements. Quilters had to meticulously measure and cut each piece by hand, which was not only time-consuming but also prone to human error.
2. The Introduction Of Fabric Cutters
Fabric cutters, also known as rotary fabric cutters or fabric cutting machines, have changed the game for quilters. These innovative tools utilize a rotary blade and a cutting mat to precisely cut fabric with ease. They come in various forms, including manual and electric cutters, offering options to suit different preferences and budgets.
3. Time-Saving Benefits
One of the most significant advantages of fabric cutters is the time they save during the quilting process. With manual cutting methods, quilters had to spend hours cutting fabric pieces individually. However, fabric cutters for quilting can cut multiple layers of fabric simultaneously, reducing cutting time significantly. This allows quilters to complete projects faster and move on to the fun part of quilting – sewing and assembling their creations.
4. Enhanced Accuracy And Consistency
Fabric cutters offer unmatched precision and accuracy, ensuring that fabric pieces are cut to the exact measurements needed for quilting projects. The rotary blades are designed to create clean, straight edges and consistent shapes, eliminating the variations that can occur with manual cutting. This accuracy is especially crucial for intricate quilting patterns that require precise matching and alignment of fabric pieces.
5. Versatility And Efficiency
Fabric cutters are versatile tools that can handle various fabric types and thicknesses. Whether you're working with cotton, flannel, or even multiple layers of fabric, fabric cutters can effortlessly cut through them with precision. Additionally, fabric cutters often come with interchangeable blades and cutting dies, allowing quilters to create different shapes and design effortlessly.
6. Reduced Strain And Fatigue
Manual cutting methods can strain the hands, wrists, and shoulders, leading to fatigue and discomfort, especially during large quilting projects.A fabric cutting board, on the other hand, requires minimal physical effort to operate. The ergonomic design and smooth cutting motion of fabric cutters reduce the strain on the body, making quilting a more enjoyable and comfortable experience.
7. Exploring Creative Possibilities
Fabric cutters open up a world of creative possibilities for quilters. With pre-designed cutting dies or templates, quilters can easily replicate complex shapes and intricate patterns. Moreover, this eliminates the need for time-consuming tracing and hand-cutting, allowing quilters to focus on experimenting with various fabric combinations and design arrangements.

Pic #1:  Fabric & pattern for my next quilt; it’ll be baby-size.  I also have to use a specialty ruler for this one.  Nervous, but ready to give it a go.
Pic #2:  Put together a new mug rug for my desk last night.  Also wanted to try combining these colors to see the effect.  I’m never going to be a fan of pink, but this combination works for me.
Pic #3:  Celeb picture from a 1910 issue of Harper’s Weekly.  With all the beading that dress must have weighed a ton.
