Kaylee's feet lifted off the ground in an almost choreographed routine as Wes caught her exuberant hug. He always seemed to catch her no matter what was going on.

Her feet settled on the ground and she pushed into his shoulder playfully. "You don't give yourself enough credit." she told him encouragingly. She knew Wes was brilliant. His intelligence, and his visions, they put hers to shame. Sure, Kaylee was the perfect child. She was smart, kind, always knew just what to say to own an entire room and have them eating out of the palm of her hand but Wes, he was a visionary and had the chops to make it a reality.

"Oooh and an arborist! I want to make sure we can continue to grow the plants with time without causing structural issues to the building."

As if anticipating the enthusiasm, Wes was able to catch his older but still smaller sister in a hug without batting and eye when she threw herself at him. It looked almost like a coordinated routine. It kinda was. "Oh no" Wes scoffed a laugh when Kay compared him to their dad. "I wouldn't go that far." Make Tony Stark look dumb? Wes was just standing on the shoulders of giants and his family's hard work. Not that he was so overly-humble to say that he didn't possess a certain level of genius. Look at his family. But nobody made his dad look dumb.... except for sometimes their mother and that was really just the love-struck expression Tony got on his face when looking at her. It was both gross and sweet.

Wes spun the hologram again before swiping it out away and out of sight. "But we go from hologram to prototype by you giving me a few days...and possibly in contact with a dendrologist." Not that Wes really wanted anyone to come to his private lab. Notes would be fine, maybe a zoom call.

ONE  WOULD  THINK  DISTANCE  AND  TIME  WOULD  MAKE  IT  EASIER.  that  perhaps,  with  time,  feelings  would  grow  out  of  place.  it’s  weird,  he  had  been  alive  for  around  300  years  and  yet,  half  of  it  had  been  with  a  soul,  and  in  all  those  years,  he  had  only  loved  one  person.  he  thinks,  perhaps  different  cities,  different  lifestyles  would  make  encounters  like  this  less.  .  .difficult.  But  he  sees  her  and  it’s  like  the  beginning  all  over  again.  “hey.  .  .wasn’t  expecting  you  here.”  Los  Angeles.  He  knows  her  father  lives  here.  Perhaps  she  moved  here  in  order  to  get  a  break  from  sunnydale.  Just  that.  A  part  of  him  hopes  she  was  there  to  see  him,  but  it  would  be  reckless.  “any  big  monsters  comin’  this  way?  had  been  a  lazy  week.”  No  big  cases,  he  is  wondering  if  something  big  is  up.  Brown  eyes  inspect  her  down,  taking  her  in.  Even  if  time  passes  for  her.  .  .she  looks  the  same  to  him.  “You  look  good.”

The incredulous sound in her voice caught Peeta's attention. Ever so slightly his head cocked to the side and his jaw set tightly and his brow quirked. Peeta knew Katniss in and out, but as their relationship grew beyond the aches and pains of the games, he started to learn much more about her than he previously thought.

Katniss was a deep person. A raging storm beneath a stoic exterior, but more and more she was learning that she could show him all of those parts of herself. "At least you're self aware." Peeta retorted before the curl to his lips brought a smile.

It's a warm start to the morning again today. Just taking a few moments for myself before the kids wake up and the day begins. I've been just gobsmacked by the great reaction to the #instasockkal - thank you to everyone who is joining in and enjoying the #bobsock pattern. My job for this week is to work on the directions for the heel and I'm also planning to get the 2nd sock started too. I like to have both socks on the go to reduce the likelihood of 2nd sock syndrome. The eldest of the Danvers-Stark clan had to float above a sea of excited fur as the dogs scrambled to get attention between all the party goers. She moved seamlessly across them, beating all the bipeds to the punch as she threw her arms around Wes’ neck in a warm embrace.

“Who ya talkin’ too?” she laughed, a warm smile on her face. “So we have games. And cake. And dog toys. Aaaaaaand-” she nodded for Stevie to come over. “C’mon Stevie, show him the miniatures you’ve been working on.” Kay called out to their youngest sibling. “It’s been far too long without a DND game.”
