He defended Pen from Portia. And again it works out for him.

He followed Pen in the carriage because he thought she was being kidnapped. Then he learned Pen was Whistledown and got his heart broke.

He tried to fix the blackmail with Cressida and only made it worse

It’s not until he stands back and lets Penelope handle things for herself, does he realize how capable she is as a person. And he falls more in love with her for it

I mean this as earnestly as possible but I love Hobie x OC ships because the idea itself is so punk - rewriting the story for yourself

And I really enjoy the oc pairings I see people put him with, what kind of people they think he'd love or how he'd treat them

Idk I just prefer it over any other canon x canon ship (other than the GOAT noirpunk)
