I recreated the Tarte Queijada de Sintra (Portuguese cinnamon cheesecake)! I found a Portuguese recipe online with a video where it looked very similar to the one I had in Sintra so I translated the recipe. It's very easy:
Blend:
4 egg yolks
400g ricotta or cottage cheese (I used the latter)
200g sugar
50g flour
1 tablespoon cinnamon
Add it to a store bought pie crust (prick holes in the bottom with a fork). The recipe said to bake at 180°C for 30 min, I followed the pie crust instructions and baked at 170°C for 40 min.

Entre páginas e páginas de aventuras, o nosso improvável herói vai alimentando o desejo de se tornar cavaleiro. Um incidente inesperado acaba por tornar realidade este seu desejo (pelo menos para ele).
Na sua fantasia muda de nome para D. Quixote e embarca numa louca e disparatada aventura, distorcendo a realidade sob um olhar quase infantil e uma imaginação delirante. Acompanhado por Sancho Pança - personagem ingénua e simples que acredita no sonho de D. Quixote - parte em viagem atrás do Cavaleiro Negro e em busca da sua amada Dulcineia.
Esta adaptação do Cavaleiro da Triste Figura é uma comédia de enganos marcada pela paródia burlesca com gargalhadas garantidas do primeiro ao último minuto.

(top) Pastry was like a macaron, filled with sweet creamy interior.

(left) Supposedly cheese pastry. Exterior was sort of hard with a sweet custard-y interior.
🧁 Pastel Sintra (€ 1.70, $2.48)
(right) Honestly, the middle feels like the Pastel Cruz Alta. Not much different between the 3 except maybe the crust?
🧁 Travesserio (€ 1.80, $2.63)
Soft flaky exterior with sweet egg and almond cream. Not as creamy but we preferred this to the other tarts.

Normal cuppa.

The cloisters of the Lorvão Monastery, in Penacova, will host the second edition of the National Conventual Sweets Exhibition, between the 14th and 15th of October, said the municipality.
The National Exhibition of Conventual Sweets in Lorvão will welcome two dozen confectioners “from Minho to Alentejo”, said the Penacova Chamber.
In addition to the presence of confectioners from mainland Portugal, the municipality of Praia da Vitória (twinned with Penacova) will also be represented, which “will showcase the best convent sweets from the island of Terceira, in the Azores”, he highlighted.
“In addition to the inimitable snowfalls of Penacova and the fabulous pastries of Lorvão, we will have soft eggs from Aveiro, sponge cake from Ovar, pies from Azeitão, pastel from Tentúgal, bread crumbs and walnut stew from Évora , the cheese from the sky of Arouca, the cornucopias of Alcobaça, the Morgado of Bussaco, the templarias, the little windows of the chapter and the pampilhos of Tomar, the marmalade of Odivelas, the queijadas of Pereira and much much more”.

A creature sick as you should be put down
You are becoming far too acclimated to this. To the sounds of their begging, inevitably cut off by a twist of the head or a fatal jab to the heart, perhaps a deep slice across the throat. Whatever suits you best in that moment.
Right now, you've got your hands around the neck of a particularly vile man; recently released from prison under the guise of a new man. Right. Turnover or not, no one will miss a child predator.
Blood pools in his face the harder you squeeze, and you silently revel in how he thrashes beneath you, prying at your wrists and kicking his legs as though it will do a thing to deter you. It spurs you on just as much as it aggravates you.
"Please--"
Ah. But that voice aggravates you even more. Strained by immense pressure and the lack of oxygen.
The thumb of your left hand presses just beneath his mandible, digging around until -- ah, you've found it. With just enough pressure there, at the hyoid bone, you can silence him for good.
Crack
How pleasant it feels when it breaks against your fingers.
Not enough to still his squirming, but it's satisfactory to the point you can finally eat. And when his bitter blood coats your teeth, you briefly wonder what the blood of someone innocent might taste like.

"Ay, meu doce menino! How long has it been since you've come to see your mama?"
Ah.. she hasn't changed. Her worrisome nature only brings a smile to your face, and it grows all the brighter when this poor woman gathers you into her arms like you're a little boy again, as if you don't tower a good foot above her.
"You look like you've lost weight, querido," she comments, cupping your face in her hands and turning it here and there to take a better look at one of her younger boys. But she says that about all of her children when they come to visit. Despite having grown to be so strong, she still frets over you like you're still a child. Something in your chest aches when you think about it.
She ushers you over to the kitchen table, already setting a plate of pastries before you and going her way to prepare a cup of coffee.
Despite your, ah.. large meal, you nibble at a queijada, watching as flakes of the pastry scatter to the plate and idly pushing them all into one spot.
"Are you hungry? I have some soup going, it should be ready in a little while."
Little flashbacks play in your mind then. A man beneath you, strangled to death with a chunk missing from his left shoulder.
A grin spreads over your lips.
"I'm not that hungry, mãe. I already had a pretty big meal."
