"What, you haven't heard?" you asked, looking down at the basket of fried cheese. Beomgyu shook his head, leaning in closer. "No, tell me." You laughed again. "I got into a fight last week. At Blue Hour," you said, grabbing Beomgyu's half empty styrofoam cup and taking a sip of the soda. He looked up at you, eyebrows raised. "No shit? With who?" he asked, taking another mozzarella stick and tearing it in half. "Kamila Valieva," you said, watching him dip half the mozzarella stick into the almost empty marinara sauce. Beomgyu looked up at you, confusion written on his face. "Vali-what?" he asked, making you laugh loudly. He smiled up at you, taking a bite of the fried cheese. "She's one of the most famous figure skaters in the world, Beom," you answered. "Wait. The one with the doping incident?" he asked, perking up. You nodded. "Oh shit," he laughed. "Never thought an ice fairy would be able to hit you," he continued, smile fading almost instantly when he saw your expression. "Sorry," he murmured. "You should see her though," you heard a voice say and glanced up to see Sunghoon and Sophie standing by the table. You smiled up at your friends. "Hey," Sophie said, taking a seat beside you and grabbing one of the last mozzarella sticks. "Hey!" Beomgyu whined. You turned to smile at him, reaching up to softly pinch his cheek. "Don't be stingy, Beommie," you cooed. He rolled his eyes. "Only 'cause you asked so nicely," he said, smiling in return.

I really like the interaction between Y/N and Beomgyu in a scene from an upcoming story of mine, Jam the Ice. I think the reason I'm proud of it so much is because I wrote it in my outline after the scene just popped into my head. I could see it play out like in a movie and that doesn't normally happen when I'm working on an outline.

These are characters. They do not have feelings, they are not governed by laws or morality, they are objects.

If I told you "hey I think a fork and a spoon should make out" you'd probably be like "weird, but whatever you're into man"

But if I dare say "hey I think Sam and Dean Winchester should make out" suddenly it's "nooooo!!! You can't do that!!!! They're related"

Guess what? The fork and the spoon are related too. They're both utensils.

You only have a problem with the second statement because the characters are human characters. This can apply to any humanoid or vaguely anthropomorphized character. Once something has human traits you forget that it's just an object.

Sam and Dean Winchester exist only in ink, film, and the minds of the creators and fans. They are not out there driving around in a 1967 Chevy Impala, hunting monsters and stealing credit cards to pay for cheap motel rooms.

You cannot police objects, and you cannot police fandom.

And you know what, since the callout post this is responding to brought rp/kink into it, I'm going to do the same:

But me writing a story where Blorbo from Hyperfixation drugs, kidnaps, and brainwashes OC is not harmful because the characters aren't real

A BDSM scene where my partner ties me up and uses whips or flogs on me is not harmful because it is pre-negotiated and has safety measures in place to make sure we are both safe and comfortable.

If two consenting adults agree to roleplay as siblings or step siblings that is no different. If they want to introduce a parent/child dynamic all the power to them. These things aren't harmful because they are not real.

I'm not going to sit here and advocate for actual incest. Absolutely the fuck not. But I am going to keep writing stories about my favorite twins going on little dates, or being horribly codependent thanks to their mother, or just being flat out abusive and terrible to eachother. Why? Because. Its. Fiction.

Make sense now? Are we all on the same page finally?

Oh, before I go actually. Anyone who consumes media portraying incest and immediately thinks "this is ok and I'm going to do it" lacks the ability to critically consume media that the vast majority people have. They are not the average, they are outliers.

Anyone who uses media to justify doing bad things is pathetic, and a coward who can't take responsibility for their own actions ❤️

Honestly, I think I relate to Lillith from the Owl House a lot now that I'm caught up/nearly done with the show! Ace as hell, hyperfixated in history, laid back when I need to be, but loyal to the people I care most about while also rocking that goth/raven look. Though if I were in TOH universe id see my palisment being more like a magpie though🖤🤍💙

🍼- What is your favorite memory?

Lots of good ones to choose from! I think at the moment I have the memory of going to Oceanside in California with my friends and family back when I was in middle school going through my head. I'd love to just go back and walk along the beach, get my feet wet in the ocean, and then go and walk around downtown and get some frozen yogurt after and watch cars pass. As you can tell I'm really missing my life in California as of late, but I hope I can go back sooner than never💖.

I feel like logan is very self-aware (much like the song) but would so melt if reader showed him a little patience and tenderness 💖 thank you for sending this!!

some little grumpy x sunshine moments I think they might have:

logan’s scowl softening the moment reader walks in the room (the rest of the apt / x-mansion sneaking a look because they haven’t seen heart-eyes like that before)

he isn’t super into pda but presses a kiss against reader’s temple when they’re out together, an arm curling around their waist to tug them close

(and likewise - absolutely and silently melts when reader calls him handsome, just a complete mental 🥰 moment, even if he outwardly grunts and tries to hide a smile. can’t give wade any ammunition, after all)

agrees to going to an event or outing that he’s already turned down - when reader is grilled about it later by his friends, they’re just like “… I just asked?”

maybe reader isn’t used to being taken care of - logan’s perception and protective instincts and his inner strength can be just as soothing as words

he definitely notices when reader likes something - and it might end up on their desk a couple weeks later. he brushes off the praise and cooing thanks with an “ah, just thought you’d like it”, a hand raking through his hair. sweetly embarrassed and sweetly pleased

Lately I've been kinda swamped with fic commitments and rushing stuff last-minute (my own fault ofc 😅) writing mostly romance, so now im just itching to go back to my platonic stuff! nothing against romance, im enjoying writing it for sure, but god i can't wait to work on my Steve Henderson au again

for now tho the probably-never-to-be-written worms are about Steve bunking with the Buckleys post s4. maybe his parents just never came home, maybe they were there and had a big blowup argument with Steve about leaving, but they're not around now and Robins not about to let Mr Walking-Sepsis-Risk live alone for the apocalypse

in my head i imagine the buckleys house is kinda like max's before s4, a smaller 1-story but cozy, and no guest room so Steve stays in Robin's room.

her parents let them but they're definitely a little wary and a little lost but at least a little used to it, both thanking whatever power they believe in that no matter how freakishly clingy they are now, its still world's better than the violently freakishly clingy stobin was right after starcourt, when both of them looked to be hanging on by a thread and that thread was each other.

so they're like. chill. they plow through an awkward conversation about how bad an idea it would be to be up to something right now with steves injuries and robin sees herself out like halfway through, piling all the old stuffed animal onto her bed and keeping them there for the next week to avoid thinking about it. And Steve, abandoned by his partner in crime, stumbles through his own awkward explanation along the lines of 'you don't have to worry about that, i promise' before joining Robin in her embarrassed cringing-party, featuring notable guests such as Mr. Cat, Doodles, and Floppsy Bunny.

Not much of a plot in my head really, I'm just enjoying all the vague ideas floating around this premise. theres lots of details about Steve and his wounds, like wearing button downs that are easier to put on than pull-overs, Mr. Buckley letting him borrow some when Steve only finds a couple (or when he packs his normal clothes not realizing how miserable itd be to take them on and off constantly to check how things are healing).

Also Steve helping around the house and the Buckley's getting to know him better and not just the Polite Steve that they usually see because Steve couldn't risk his best friends parents not liking him (and because usually robin would go to his house, its a lot easier to sneak out than it is to smuggle someone in, especially with freaky upside down nightmares). Maybe Steve gets to actually joke around with Robin's dad, talk real shit with her mom (maybe about the future, hippie mom offering a different perspective on what life can be, how you can figure things out, just try things even if you don't have a perfect plan)

Steve finding safety not just with Robin, but with Robins family. the four of them growing this sweet relationship, not like a second child for the buckleys but more like a second home for Steve. stobin are firmly strange best friends to me (as opposed to siblings), and i like the dynamic of steve and robin's parents as 'my kids best friend' type stuff, not cause there's any less love but more like they're not trying to replace Steve's parents, they just end up filling in the gaps.

hi queenie i find myself humbly at your doorstep again (if there was a bowing emoji i would put it here) so question! do you outline your stories? and if so, how? another writer i admire was nice enough to lay out a "tutorial" of sorts but i have so much trouble with the small stuff. like i have so many Big Moments planned and tiny tiny moments planned but the medium moments? do you have any idea on how to plan the medium moments???? i'm going crazy! 😩

extremely long story short: i do outline my stories! i live in constant awe of people who can write by the seat of their pants. alas, like the humble ant, i am always digging out pathways to follow later...usually the pathways are intricate. maze-like. bottomless. 😫 hehehe but i know E X A C T L Y what you mean, finding ways to connect everything can be...so much, especially when all you really want to do is get to those big, juicy moments, AHHH!

i'll throw my general process under the cut, and i hope it'll help in some way/shape/form!!! 💖

OH FUCK, I THINK I HAVE A FIC IDEA an outlining process by theicyqueen

hehehe okay, so as always, this is my general process, and what works for me might not work for others, so by all means take EVERY LAST THING I SAY with a boulder-sized grain of salt ;P

for the most part, my outlining process for oneshots and multichaps is roughly the same: (1) i get a central idea i want to expand on, (2) i write that fucker down in as much detail as possible, (3) i sit squinting at it like that kate beaton comic with edgar allan poe for a week or two waiting for a divine vision to hit, (4) profit. in all seriousness, though, this is typically my order of operations:

get the main idea down: this could be an overarching idea for a story (e.g., hawke and varric attend a fancy party and a murder mystery occurs) OR a big, juicy influential scene (e.g., incensed at hubert being an asshole, varric hurls a pillow at him and uncovers a secret door hidden in the wall!)

think about where you want to go from there: do you want this to be a oneshot? a multichap? how much MORE do you want to add to that main idea, essentially, or how far do you think you can stretch it?

get the biggest scenes down first: you know the ones. the ones you REALLY want to get to. write them down NOW. just trust me on this. WRITE THEM DOWN RIGHT NOW I STG!!!

if there are little scenes in your head, get those down too: don't worry about getting them down IN ORDER, just get them down! you think you'll remember them later: you will not. i love you. you will not remember them later. you're so smart. you will not. remember. them later. this is the writer's curse.

put those scenes into some sort of skeleton: here's where you start thinking about the order you want scenes in. where do you want those big, juicy things? where will your smaller moments fit in between them? what KEY POINTS need to occur before juicy scene b so it makes sense to the reader? what KEY POINTS will have to come AFTER juicy scene b to make sense? if you don't quite know where to put something yet, keep it separated, either in a separate doc, or just off to the side; don't touch it again until you have an idea of where it should go chronologically

look at what you have so far: sometimes, if you're lucky, the way to connect these pieces together will become apparent once you see what you already have laid out in one place. life is beautiful when this happens, but it doesn't always, so don't beat yourself up if you just CAN'T figure out how to get from point a to point h - let it sit. let it simmer. let it STEW. maybe eat some stew. it can't hurt.

consider the evil bits >:)c : what this means FOR ME is usually foreshadowing. is there some big twist you want to drop breadcrumbs for throughout the rest of the story? think about what that might look like! if you decide, for example, that you want to reveal a character was evil the whole time by the end of the story, think about what little nugget of foreshadowing you could insert sneakily into the beginning - a lot of the time tiny, almost insignificant details like this can help trigger bigger scenes in your head, "connecty" scenes, if you will. other examples of "evil bits," might be winks to canon material, easter eggs referring to other works of yours (or a friend's!), wordbuilding info that doesn't fit anywhere else, or not-so-subtle inclusions of your own headcanons that you have no earthly reason to include other than to make yourself smile (for example, in the project i'm working on right now, i'm making it a point to have travis hackett smell a girl's hair against her will! this is not a necessary detail by any means, but god help me my characterization of that freak will be known 🙃). it sounds fake, but seriously, sometimes the tiniest details can help you connect things later. the human brain is inscrutable.

determine whether you NEED to fill every gap: if you can't think of a way connect two scenes no matter how hard you try, it's ENTIRELY possible that they just don't need to be connected. at all. the reader doesn't always need to see characters move from one classroom to another, and we don't always need to see their skincare routine before they go to bed. those might be important scenes to include for what you're writing, don't get me wrong, but if they're not??? just...just skip 'em. DON'T connect the scene before and the scene after. if you're writing a oneshot, ask yourself: could i put a line break in here and just keep going? and if you're writing a multichap, the question is similar: can i just end the chapter here and pick up with the next one? sometimes you just don't NEED a medium-sized scene at all. just skip it!!!!!

talk to a friend who has no idea what any of this means: i'm. i'm so serious. if you're writing fandom stuff, please ask a friend with little to no knowledge of that fandom if you can talk at them about your story for a minute. if you're writing something original, please ask literally any friend at all if you can talk at them about your story for a minute. you will be. shocked. the words that come out of your mouth once you start doing this. shocked. sometimes there's stuff up in your brain you didn't even know was up there. i can't recommend it highly enough asldkjflakdjf

when in doubt, consider a humble "blanket paragraph:" i feel like...i feel like a lot of us...who got into creative writing...and who took creative writing classes...came to hate the simple blanket statement. but we shouldn't. we should love it. sometimes you don't need a scene at all - sometimes all you need is, "and then they ate dinner and watched some movies before bed." that's it. that can be your link. it can. i promise. i promise.

Summary: Loosely inspired by the legend of Chang E and Wu Gang. Ichigo is a half-mortal sent to the isolated and far-flung Guanghan Palace to be a disciple of the elusive and reclusive Moon Goddess, Rukia. Rukia, who is on a self-imposed exile since the last days of the Unholy War, does not take kindly to the intrusion of her living space. What starts off as animosity and reluctant cohabitation soon blossoms into a grudging respect towards one another and then, much to their surprise, a bond deeper and more intimate than they both had ever imagined. As tensions rise and the two struggle between heeding their hearts' desires and conforming to what is proper, there are forces that stir and lurk unseen in the dark corners of the Four Realms. In the ultimate war of good against evil, their bond and trust will be put to the test. Nothing is as simple as it seems and sacrifices will be made.

A bead of sweat trickles down his forehead. Ichigo pants. His lungs burn from the exertion. It is too dark to see where he is going.

"Kaa-san! Where are you?"

He squints at the void, guided by his instincts. Adrenaline surges through him. He thinks he can hear someone further down that path. His name–

"I-Ichi-Ichigo!"

He quickly halts. He recognises that voice. It's his mother calling him. It is getting louder too. He must be getting closer. She's there- right in front of him!

A burst of energy carries him through the dark, propelling him into the unknown. He crashes into her arms, shoulders sagging in relief as he buries his face in her familiar warmth, greedily inhaling his mother's scent.

Only–

Something isn't quite right. The scent of copper and stale air is overpowering. And Kaa-san–

Why isn't she hugging him back?

His heart hammers against his ribcage. He raises his head at her, horrified when his mother's body falls limp against him, pinning him down under her weight. The metallic scent of blood fills his nostrils, thick enough to make him gag. Fear chokes him, causing his vision to tunnel.

"Kaa-san?"

He screams when icy fingers grip at his forearm, pulling him forward. He hears a harsh whisper in his ears, tilting his face up to see a bloodied face staring right back at him, her brown eyes wide with unspeakable horror.

"I-Ichigo! R-Run!"
