I wanted to get into loona for a while, but once I did, they disbanded so now idk where to start ;( I became infatuated with Heejin after seeing a clip of her from Queendom 2 a while ago, there's something about her that's so alluring. As a new fan, where do u recommend I should start in terms of music/content?

Heejin is everyone's first love in Loona, I guess 😁 It was unfortunate that they disbanded once you wanted to get to know them. Basically, as you know, Loona is a group consisting of 12 members that debut as a solo, sub-unit, then full group.

So in terms of music, I guess you can start by watching their MV's (this was in order, btw). For me, it's fun to watch in order to see how they grow before they form as a full group. they also have yt content like Loona Log, Loona Note, and my favorite Loona The Tam S1 & S2,

For future tournaments, maybe you can do like “songs by nugu/under-appreciated artists”. You could limit it to artists who have less than a certain amount of MV views, or who aren’t under the Big 4, or who don’t have a first win yet. However you define nugu.

You could also do a “survival show song tournament”: Songs from the Produce series, Girls/Boys planet, Queendom/Kingdom, etc.

A lot of kpop artists release music in Japan so maybe you could do “Best Japanese language song by a Kpop artist”. You could exclude any song that first came out in South Korea so it’s just original music in Japanese. For example with Twice, “Cheer Up - Japanese version” wouldn’t count but “Candy Pop” would. Or the Japanese version had to be released first. So like “Breakthrough” by Twice is ok since the JPN version came out before the KOR version.

What is the honest thoughts of each gidle members about queencard comeback ?

Soyeon’s opinion is about the idea of the MV tracks themselves and the message she wanted to deliver (about fighting against the traditions in the k-pop industry). She believes she did justice to this message. She wanted the message to be delivered and she did it.

Miyeon thinks this era is giving the issues of their industry. She also believes their era achieved many things to them thanks to their hard work. She's happy and satisfied about how Queendom era worked out.

Minnie thinks Queendom as an era is about the courage of bringing awareness about their industry. It also made the era opening many doors and options towards her.

Yuqi .. It looks like it's really her idea, huh? Her intuition told her to make Soyeon do this, and the success really is here. Similar as Miyeon, it's an achievement to her that speaks out about their industry that bring her material security for the girls. She's really happy about it.

Shuhua.. Honestly, she is following the girls like a puppy. It bring her material security like Miyeon and Yuqi and this era might be her moment to break out of her shell. She might want to be more active individually. She might be ready for it.

hi!! i know you’ve said you’re not into girl groups as much, but i was wondering if loona is at all on your radar?? their stuff lives in my brain rent free and i’d love to hear your thoughts on their lore and concepts, especially the solos and units! no pressure ofc, just if you’re interested!

to be honest they were not on my radar at all pre queendom and they're still not on my radar now. i watched a chunk of their mvs and im not gonna lie, i don't see it. their mvs aren't that interesting, neither is the music, none of them are crazy standout performers. it's all just fine 🤷. i can see the genesis of a lot of jaeden jeong's ideas about how to build a group around design and typography, but imo it's not very well executed. there's definitely some playing with it, but i struggle to see how it's supposed fit together around all the subunits and weird lore that doesn't really make any sense. the concept is too large and relies too much on fans filling in the blanks, the scale for a first attempt at an idea like this is much too ambitious. the narrowing down and simplifying that happened with onlyoneof is a much more effective use of the concept and they've managed to successfully communicate both the high concept stuff like techno-religiousity in their early stuff and the small scale interpersonal with the b series.

Admittedly Verbal Justice is not my fave melody line, the verses slap but the chorus is a bit slow with a haunting mantra-like repetition that can get grating unlike Femme Fatale. I understand it's intentional considering like saviour/path to God references though and it was fun though not something I'll slap onto a playlist I'll listen everyday unlike Magic Transistor or Hoodstars. Also Giga-P's never known for having a bad chorus so tough competition to beat there.

Queendom is an autobiographical song about Awich's life story here and it's well worth a watch, phenomenal storytelling and I adore it so much.

And so it's like doubly amazing they got the Queen herself to make lyrics for Otome who's in a similar position of climbing to power with her own smarts, resolve and words for a better world in her homeplace like Awich returning to Japan where she moves hearts with her voice too. But well, there are clear differences there storyline wise when Otome is set up to be one of the top villains/antagonists. Very understandable sentiment tho.

And speaking of origin stories, Awich did do a collab with some Oikinawan youths, SugLawd Familiar and CHICO CARLITO called Longiness Remix. comments say they're (I think SugLawd Familiar in particular) in high school? Seriously?? And it's a jam!
