Honestly one of my favorite HotD scenes is when young Aemond (Leo Ashton) claims Vhagar- despite the poor lighting by HBO

Although upon watching it for the nth time I am AMAZED at how composed Granny Vhagar is. My husband barely survives waking me and this toddler woke a 200+ year old dragon from a deep sleep and walked out on top. LEGEND

Saw this au! And it's beyond perfect!

Imagine a Kingsguard Daemon au! Like he joined the Kingsguard because he loved Viserys and wanted to remain by his side and protect him forever.

He loves Viserys but is appalled by how Viserys treats his new young wife.

He finds the young Queen one night after she comes from Viserys' room, distressed and crying.

He tries to comfort and be friends with her. He tells her stories and sings to her and makes her laugh and they slowly become friends. Truly enjoying each other's company. Daemon begins to try and spend more of his free time with her. And the reader is so grateful to be someone's choice.

I imagine she was a chore for her father. And a duty for Viserys. Never really wanted by anyone.

So, she's so happy to have a companion. She slowly falls in love with him. And Daemon falls in love with her too.

His idea of love is protection. He's so happy to be accepted and embraced by someone who'd just appreciate and love his fierce emotions.

He's basically her puppy. She loves him and keeps him all to herself.

Maybe her kids turn out to be his. More little people for him to love and protect. They'd be fiercely protective and loving towards their kids. Raising them to be amazing rulers and knights.

I want the reader going from soft and meek to becoming strong for her kids. Daemon empowering her.

She wants her kids on the Throne. She knows how much Rhaenyra wants Daemon. Hayes her half siblings and the Queen.

But she's no longer the meek girl her father sold to the King. That the King mistreated. That Rhaenyra mocked. That was unloved and helpless.

She's a Queen and she has a strong lover at her side. Her kids are Targaryens and they are so sweet and loved.

Of course they'll make great King and Queen.

Her and Daemon's relationship made these bunch of perfect humans. And she loves them.

Daemon is the ultimate protector!
