lets start with a classic 90s icon: rachel green, these two are my favorite outfits she's worn on the show

and continuing her legacy we have monet de haan, the gg spin off might have been painfully mid but monet is my daughter and i am in love with this dress

So over the course of July, I’ve gotten material from me (yay!), Noora Rose, and Bendi Barrett, and forwarded all of that over to Jared Sinclair, the official editor of Roseville Beach (and really, all of Rose Island). I don’t brag much about my own skills, but I get to work with some of the most thoughtful and skilled people in tabletop RPGs. Jared wrapped up his developmental comments on this first round of documents late last week, so we’re ready to start making some previews.

Dim All the Lights 1: New Characters on Roseville Beach

While I call Dim All the Lights a “Mystery Book,” it includes new tools and toys for players as well as GMs. The first of these is a set of origin stories:

The Veteran has spent most of their adult life hunting monsters and studying the occult in the employ of the wealthy and powerful. Now you’ve come here to Roseville Beach to use your skills to keep a community safe. You’ve forgotten more than most people will ever know. Each session, you choose a background and during the session pick three skills you want to use as you need them. You also have a Go Bag from which you can make your own new Supply Checks for equipment others wouldn’t thave access to.

The Changeling was once a normal kid in the terrestrial world but were taken away to another. You’ve since grown up and returned, only to discover someone else has been living your life. Your time among non-humans has give you a deep understanding of what others are thinking and taught you a few supernatural tricks (that are more routine but easier than working magic with sorcery and words of power).

The Rose Island Regular has a job like everyone else, but they’ve had more Rose Island jobs than almost anyone else. Instead of a separate set of skills and backgrounds, the Regular takes a current job and two former jobs. They’ve also got a reputation around town, and know a lot of Roseville Beach gossip.

The Mainland Renegade came out to Roseville Beach for a short getaway. It was supposed to be a few days. And then you stayed. The Renegade is a slightly more mature version of The Fresh Face from the core book, and was inspired by Mary Ann Singleton from Maupin’s Tales of the City.

The book also includes a few more jobs around Roseville Beach (like fire fighter, drag king/queen, and bookstore clerk) and Rose Island (like an admin for the park department), and the option of being self-employed as a band member, writer, swim coach, or repairperson.

Dim All the Lights 2: Entities of Roseville Beach

Inspired by The X Files, SCP, and The Magus Archives, Noora Rose wrote five new “Entities of Roseville Beach.” Moonlight on Roseville Beach doesn’t have opponent, antagonist, creature, NPC, or monster stats: If you can figure out how to hurt something, it has up to 3 hit points. Instead, Noora took things in a new direction and focused instead on the entity’s victims and the evidence they leave behind.

Noora, who wrote the strange events generator of Moonlight on Roseville Beach, where ever die roll is a small, eerie fragment of a horrifying story, tackled this section, and I spoke after reading an early draft of her work back in June, but now Noora’s expanded the section, adding more detail and some GM notes.

Instead of focusing on the entities, Noora focuses on their victims, looking at what witnesses saw and what the victims recorded in their own journals and logs. Her work not only introduces the entities but creates clues and player handouts. I’ve mocked up a couple of layouts here.

Here, Dr. Jo Norris is logging her observations on a mysterious sea slug that she’ll soon learn can take the form of anything it’s near.

Here, we take a look at the diary of Nicole Wolf, a young woman who went missing after starting to date a singer named whose waterlogged diary was found at the beach.

Noora also added a bunch of GM notes on using the entities, and I've created a short mystery generator using the entities in Roseville Beach.

Dottir in Trouble Part 1 

Warning: Some violence, but not too much

Freya’s POV

Being the dottir of Ragnar Lothbrok is difficult but my mother makes it easier. I love my mother so much, she is the only one who helps me get my brothers to back up sometimes. My brothers are all older than me and it’s very annoying especially when it comes to boys. 

I was walking around in the village, saying hello to some people. Some children passed by me and I noticed one fall down. “Are you okay?” I ask, bending down to help her up. “My leg hurts.” she says. I pull up her dress and see she has a gash on her knee. “Let's fix that up, shall we?” I say, giving her my hand. She takes my hand as we stand up and then I pick her up, resting her on my side. I bring her to the great hall and then ask “Noora, can you get me some bandages, a cloth and some water please”. “Of course, Princess.” Noora says. I set the girl on my bed and grab a stool to sit in front of her. “What’s your name?” I ask. “Thora.” the little girl says. “That’s a beautiful name. Thank you Noora.” I say, as Noora brings the things I asked. I bandage Thora’s leg and then pick her up and bring her to her family. As I walk up to the family, I see the mother sprint to us. “Thora, what happened?” she says. “Thora fell down so I brought her to the great hall and fixed her up.” I say. “Thank you, Princess. How can we ever repay you?” the mother says. “Perhaps by letting me check in on Thora.” I say. “Okay. Come Thora.” the mother says, leading Thora inside their home. “Goodbye Princess.” Thora says. “Bye, Thora.” I say, waving at her. I turn around and see my mother watching me from afar. “You will make a wonderful Queen some day, my sweetheart.” she says, walking up to me. “Thank you, Mother. But I could never be better than you.” I say. “Someday you will. I will see you at dinner.” she says, kissing my forehead then walking away. I continue to walk around the village and end up in the forest picking up flowers for my mother. I didn’t realize I was far away from the village until I saw 2 men surrounding me.

“Look what we have here.” one man says. “What a beauty she is. Perhaps we can have our way with her before leaving the woods.” another says. “Good idea, Jalmari.” the first man says. “Stay back.” I say, taking out my knife from my pocket. The men laugh and then the first man walks up to me. “You are just a little girl. You mean nothing.” he says, wacking the knife out of my hand. I slapped him in the face, and I guess he didn’t like that cause he then slapped me back, making me fall to the ground. The other man was behind me and that's when I knew I was in big trouble. They both start beating me up until I pass out.

Freya’s POV

Opening my eyes, I look around and see the men are no longer here. I push myself off the ground and lean up against a tree. I look up and realize it's dark, so my mother would be looking for me. I could feel everything those men did to me all over my body, especially my head and in that area. I felt dizzy but I knew I needed to get home quickly before they or anything came for me. As I was right outside the gate, I saw two guards come up to me with their weapons. “Princess?” one of them asked. “Yes. It’s me.” I say, holding my side. “Come inside, quickly.” the other says. He puts one of my arms over his shoulder so he can help. We walk to the great hall and go inside. “Queen Aslaug.” the man carrying me says.

Aslaug looks at who called her name and sees her dottir in bad shape. “Freya! What happened?” she asks. “I am not sure. We found her outside the gate.” the man says. “Noora, run a bath.” Aslaug commands. Soon, it was getting hard for Freya to see, making her faint and fall to the ground, but the man picked her up bridal style before she fell to the ground. “Bring her to her room,” Aslaug commands him. He puts her on her bed and leaves them be. “Oh, my dottir. Who did this to you?” Aslaug whispers to her dottir. The slave, Noora, helps Aslaug wash Freya and then put her nightgown on. Aslaug tucks her dottir in her bed, wrapping the furs around her, then she proceeds to her bed.

Our first meetup was when we got to know one another. Afterwhich the second meetup was to choose our outfits.

No doubt the beautiful array of outfits made it difficult for us to make a decision. Without compromising to our requests and added with your valuable expertise and inputs, we selected our outfits eventually and were very ecstatic to wear it. Special thanks to Kak Rosita for accomodating to the needed alterations and for the beautiful outfits.

The solemnization is where all the jitters began. Kak Juls helped me calm my nerves and makeup was a breeze. There was never an awkward moment as there was always something to talk about.

Kak Juls will listen to your preference and willingly work around with it. Like how she decided to change my lipstick colour from her original choice when I mentioned that i liked a certain type of look for our outdoor photoshoot.

The fact that we exceeded her working hours for the photoshoot; she never once cringe.

The reception day, she had her assistant along and both of them delivered with much enthusiasm. She prioritised us before herself and even our family members are aware of it.

Kak Juls is not only excellent at what she does, she exudes charisma and is an optimist. Brides and grooms needs someone positive on their special day and Kak Juls would be the perfect person to be with!

Dearest Kak Juls, I had waited over 2 years to be the bride you will care for. And finally, Alhamdulillah, the days arrived and passed. I was always attracted and impressed by the transformations you did on your brides and I love how the make up does not look "scary". I never regretted moving away from Ratu to Juls Abdullah. We pretty much clicked right away from the 1st appointment. Laughing, joking, etc. From there, I knew I had made the right choice. We had more than 3 appointments prior to the wedding due to us being fickle-minded of the chosen outfits. Kak Juls never stopped us from getting and trying on the ones we wanted and always give her suggestions and is also always open for our suggestions.

Kak Juls has the energy of early 20s. She never failed to crack me up with some if her wrongly said phrases. Her professionalism is really top notch. She doesnt stop me from being myself as a bride. I was really hyper upon seeing 2 of my girlfriends who were supposed to be overseas I definitely didnt look elegant or a queen like I should. Thank you Kak Juls.

She worries more about my make up more than her own sleep!! Having a super active oil glands on my nose and below the nose, my make up gave way numerous times. She tirelessly touch-up those areas each time she sees them off. The wedding day was much better. My oil glands were tamed for the day with her foundation creams. Lol! Thank you Kak Juls for solving that problem. The dresses were beautiful. 2 were alr aimed even before I went for selection and she knows exactly which one after briefly describing them. Masya Allah... There are so much dedication she puts in her career.

To the florist who did my fresh bridal bouquet: the flowers are super pretty la kay, arrangements and decoration is simple and elegant - just what I needed to complete my looks. Beautiful. Thank you so much.

Kak Juls is punctual. This is essential as bridegroom has to beat the clock to be on time for solemnization & sanding (reception). She also has a great collection of costumes for petite sizes.

I was specific how to complete my vintage 1930's look with my red gown. I was swept off my feet when she made it a reality with the tight ringlets hairstyle.

The sanggul had hooked on to the low roof of the Alfa Romeo car on the way to the event place. It was right before the sanding entrance. While I was worried sick we would be delayed any further, Kak Juls calmly came to my side, took a good look at the sanggul & fixed it in a minute.

People forget every other detail of their wedding. They will only remember the event as the photos tell the story. Even 50 years down the road, photos will preserve how gorgeous/handsome we looked & felt as we donned the outfits.

When Kak Juls Abdullah arrives for her makeup assignment, she comes prepared with a (very large) arsenal of products and tools, along with a remarkable wealth of experience and knowledge. She knows what will work for you and what will not. And when she tells you to trust her, you should!

If you were to browse through pictures of her work, you will see that no two brides look the same, and that for me was the biggest pull factor. I did not want a template look and I also had very specific ideas on how I wanted my makeup and hair to be. All Kak Juls needed was a short discussion and a few pictures as reference. She nailed it - all three looks were on point and I loved every single one.

Kak juls, words cant thank you enough for everything you have done to make my wedding a blast! I've known you thru my cousin's wedding and since then i told myself, kak juls will be my MUA for my wedding and nobody else.. Alhamdulillah its been exactly 15 days since our big day!

First and foremost, i would like to THANK the awesome lady who transformed me with her magic fingers Kak Juls, @julsdsweet! She was always looking out for me, making sure I smiled, comfort me when i was stressed and she always cracks me up with her jokes! It was a joyful time with you and Aida..

Kak Juls, the amazingly talented M.U.A that will forever be the best in my eyes. Do you know, readers, that even before I planned for my wedding, I would dream about having Kak Juls as my M.U.A and guess what, my dream did came true! And it came true beautifully for me. I couldn't ask for more.

The first time I got to know about Kak Juls was through my sister who got married 6 years ago and engaged her as the M.U.A. Even back then her touch was as magical and brilliant because 6 years later, I wanted her badly as my wedding M.U.A.

Unlike other brides who have a list of M.U.A on their list before their ultimate decision, mine has only one :) Alhamdulillah Kak Juls wasn't booked during that weekend because we made the booking quite late into the wedding preps.

Ok here are somethings about Kak Juls that I personally came across.

Her soft, delicate touch: Yes! These are some of the qualities of Kak Juls, I still am amazed at her. She is so so gentle, graceful and careful when she does the make up on me. During the transition, I am never bored or anything like that because Kak Juls is a jovial and funny person in reality who would make uncomfortable situation a breeze and I really had so much fun with her and her assistant too!  She is also concerned about her bride's health and wellness because I had sinus in the early morning and bad flu in the afternoon of my wedding day. And she would remind me to drink up water and even if I didn't ask for it, she just sort of knew that I needed water to ease my little discomfort. How nice :)

I should also say that Kak Juls is a really multi-talented and informative person that will give you advise whenever you need it. Not only that she transforms you into a beautiful bride, she also takes great pictures! You WILL LOVE them!

Oh and also I am not a natural in front of the camera and don't really know how to pose for a photo. Senang kata in malay I am very the kaku! This being said, Kak Juls had made me feel relaxed because I was really tensed the moment cameras were all over me! She would also teach you how to pose naturally for the cameras and it is really ok if you are the kaku type like me because Kak Juls' personal experiences and calmness will eventually loosen up your uptight nerves. (TELL ME ABOUT IT KAN)

Kak Juls is the gerek type of M.U.A and is always joking/laughing and cheering on me till the end. She is patient with me and is professional at work in all sorts of circumstances. At times she would share a tip or two about make up with me while donning me. Seriously I really couldn't ask for more. There is nothing bad/awful that I would say about her.

I believe Kak Juls does her work in the most amicable way which makes you feel the trust in between. :)

Before I end, I would like to thank Kak Juls for her amazing M.U.A service and I would also recommend her to all my friends who haven't got married YET but I will still do that hehe because she is just awesomely talented lah :))

I hope in future if I plan to have a photoshoot of some kind I would definitely look for her. Inshaa Allah. Till then, Assalamualaikum WBR. :)

It has been a week since you make up for me! I love the way you interact with your brides esp me! Hehe. You make me feel easy when the situation was lil bit tensed. You and your assistant made the situation more relaxing with laughters while doing the makeups and all.

Never once did i ever regret having you as my MUA. The outcome is so gorgeous! Your wide range of wedding dresses are awesome!

1st of all I would like to say thank you for accommodating to my last minute request.

Secondly thank you for the wonderful work you've done. I'm very satisfied with the end product. When I reached at the venue, none of my colleagues could recognised me till I approached them. Every1 gave me a great compliments & comments. Even my boss told me that I should put on the make up when I come to work.

Fun Fact: Estee is a very girly young woman. She doesn't like to do much girly things. Expect for going on adventures with her brothers. She may be girly, but she is very active when it comes to helping her mother. And helping Princess Peach. While Princess Peach is on a trip. It is Estee's duty to look out for the Kingdom while she is away. Since Estee is going to be a queen someday and rule her own kingdom in her family. she pretty much love hanging out with the toads. she mostly hangs out with Purple Toad. That's why she is very active when it comes to watching over the kingdom. When the Kingdom is in danger while the princess is out. She is very calm to evacuate all the toads that is in toad town.
