a night to reminisce (malleus & maleficia)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this comic is based on a hc i made while reading this fic Berceuse by @chernabogs (banger fic once again ames ✨💞)
i thought that if Meleanor's lullaby came from her father, then what does Maleficia uses to lull children to sleep? Then i thought , ohhhh what if she tells a story instead to make them sleep?
Since all Draconias are people who talks a lot (they are all yappers lol) (Malleus obviously, and Meleanor as well (Lilia said that he used to stay up all night bcs Meleanor just cant stop talking lol)
Plus grandmothers are stereotypically loves to tell stories about their past,,,
Although, Maleficia only likes to talk about her past to Malleus and Meleanor.
She actually likes sharing her memories with other faes, but since it concerns dead people in her family, whenever she talks about this with other faes, all she's met with are sympathies and pitying faces, and she doesn't like receiving that (her leadership motto is literally "to keep my people's smile" so i feel like she doesn't want to see sad faces and why (I think) she perseveres to live on despite the tragedies she's been dealt with, because if she dies, many faes are going to be sad by it).
However, Meleanor and Malleus are different, they don't seem like they want to cry when she tells them about her husband or daughter, they just eagerly listen and curious about her stories with them, which is what Maleficia appreciates, when she tells a story, its not exactly that she misses them, she does, but the people she's telling stories from shouldn't only be remembered because of their death, they should also recognize how they lived.
This was also based on the popular hc that Maleficia generally sees Meleanor in Malleus 🥹 and ofc this song from Frozen 2 lol

lulling dragons to sleep is serious business💤😔

Queen Maleficia Draconia Headcanons
TW: I have not read CH 7 yet, so this may be inaccurate and will be edited in the future!
"So you are the human that my grandson keeps telling me about."
Appearance:
She is envisioned to be extremely and timelessly beautiful, but also old-looking, like an older version of Maleanor. Like her daughter and grandson, she has dark midnight bluish-black hair, except it is slightly greying, or having grey streaks and is usually tied up into a bun. She also has yellowish-green eyes comparable to that of peridots, with long eyelashes and a few wrinkles beneath her eyes. she also has alabaster moonlight white skin, and of course, the famous, elegant, S-shaped horns that dragons and dragon-fairies are known for. Her attire would typically consist of the silver crown of the reigning monarch of Briar Valley, and long, black robes with green and silver accents as well as jewel and feather details.
Personality:
At first glance, Queen Maleficia seems to be cold-hearted, stern, and regal to the point of approachableness. But underneath that is actually a strong-hearted and passionate queen who loves her kingdom and people dearly, loved her daughter greatly, and is affectionate yet protective and strict towards her grandson. For that reason, many of her subjects praise her for her vast wisdom, knowledge, nobility, and being an amazing ruler. Humans, however, both fear and loathe her for her dark, cold aura and tend to take her inspiration for the villains of fairytales.
Background:
Long before the Human-Fae War started, Queen Maleficia actually had a human lover whom she loved very deeply, and promised to make him her king consort, regardless of how weak he was as a human and how short his lifespan was. However, much to her heartbreak, her human lover left her for a human princess, believing her to be much more beautiful, according to human beauty standards, and being much more "kind, graceful, and benevolent", which really meant her preferred softer, timider, and more insecure girls who suited his ego. Maleficia, following her draconic instincts (which many of us had assumed meant being jealous, possessive, and "hoarding their treasure"), was enraged, but kept her composure, knowing she had an image to maintain, being royalty and all, and tried to reason with him instead. She tried to tell him that beauty, especially human beauty doesn't last forever, and that she was the only one who would love him despite that and how his new human girlfriend's beauty would eventually fade. She also tried to tell him about how he would need someone wise like her to point out his flaws and faults and advise him so that he would be able to learn and grow as a person. When he got angry and continued to insist on leaving her, Maleficia finally snapped and decided her little human boyfriend needed a "punishment". She kidnapped his royal human bride and demanded ransom while torturing her. In the eyes of the fae, this was seen as acceptable, since fairies seek long-term relationships, strongly value loyalty, and believe that it is right to seek revenge when cheated on. Humans, on the other hand, were outraged, since they are more easily prone to cheating, being unfaithful to their spouses, but also moving on, and believed that Maleficia should be doing exactly just that instead of being a "jealous monster". As a result, Maleficia became the inspiration for numerous villainesses and witches in fairytales about "a princess who falls in love with a prince, but is hunted by a witch who is jealous of her relationship with the prince". Green also became a color associated with jealousy and envy since she often wore it, and sayings like "green-eyed monster" became invented. In the end, her human ex-boyfriend managed to rescue his human bride as well as severely injure her and return home where he was glorified as a hero. Centuries passed, and even when her human boyfriend died of old age and Maleficia found herself Malleus' grandfather, she still continues to resent her human ex-lover and the woman he left her for.
Ah, and of course, when the Human-Fae Wars started, Maleficia's hatred of humans increased tenfold, and when they killed her daughter, Maleanor Draconia, it was the final nail in the coffin.
Relationships:
Her daughter, Maleanor Draconia - Queen Maleficia loved her daughter very much and was very doting and protective. Afterall, she was basically a carbon copy of her and she would loathe herself forever if the same heartbreaking fate that happened to her happened to her daughter. That's why she was very wary of her son-in-law but eventually accepted him when he proved himself to her. She was beyond devastated when her daughter died and vowed vengeance against all the humans that caused her demise.
Her grandson, Malleus Draconia - Though she loves her grandson very dearly, she is very strict and protective of him. She acknowledges that he is the only heir left of Briar Valley, and how hard it was to hatch him. For that reason, she takes being his only living relative very seriously and disciplines him to become the perfect ruler that not only she, but the entire kingdom needs him to be. She also strives for his safety above all else and only hires the best guards and retainers to keep him safe. Lastly, she would also be very picky and judgmental if her grandson were to fall in love - not only would she hate to see her grandson get his heart broken, but it would be terrible news if the Crown Prince of Briar Valley was distracted from his royal duties.
Y/N - If Y/N was introduced to her BEFORE the overblot and she and Malleus were NOT dating and just friends, Queen Maleficia would be very cold and wary of her at best, harsh and hostile at worst. She wouldn't like how casual, informal, and intimate she would be with the Crown Prince. However, if Y/N was introduced to her AFTER the overblot while just being friends with Malleus, Maleficia would at first be shocked and refuse to believe it. Afterall, how could a magicless human possibly save one of the top five most powerful mages in the world??? However, over time, when she sees that her grandson isn't joking and hasn't gone insane, she would eventually warm up to you and be extremely kind to you. Afterall, you DID save her grandson's life. If Y/N was introduced to her BEFORE the overblot and while she and Malleus WERE dating, she would be ardently against the relationship. Not only would a dragon fairy crown prince with powerful magic dating a magicless human commoner cause numerous political and social problems, but she knows better than anyone else that humans can leave behind the most devastating of broken hearts even before they're dead. But if Y/N was introduced to her while she and Malleus were a couple AFTER the overblot, as mentioned earlier, she would be very reluctant to believe such a revelation but would eventually come to quite passionately, support the relationship. With that said, the most that you'll be is Malleus' future queen consort, and the least that you'll be is his mistress. If you were to choose the former, she would be overjoyed and along with all your royal fae teachers, teach you all that you need to know to be a member of the royal Draconia family as well as the future queen of Briar Valley.
A like is a punch to Queen Maleficia's human ex-boyfriend!

A Unrealized Enemy
(A over 5,000 word fic that I have been typing out the whole week. Enjoy.)
Silver wished that Lilia would have simply left him at home when he left. Even though his Papa was technically retired he still enjoyed going out on missions with Baul. They took it as a time to bond because Lilia didn’t like that Baul lived by his lonesome since his wife died years before Sebek was even born.
“He may be as old as I am but it isn’t good for him to be all alone. Even before you came along I spent my days with Malleus usually or others at the castle…He doesn’t do the same though. I worry he may be lonely but never speak of being so.” Silver didn’t mind that his Papa was leaving to stay with the man who he considered a Grandfather.
He was honestly glad that he was spending time with someone else he considered to be his friend. But he didn’t exactly want to stay at the castle. He may have been ten but two weeks alone wouldn’t have been a terrible thing. Lilia had left him alone for a week before when he was eight and everything had been fine. That was until Sebek visited halfway through the week and told his parents who seemed to have talked Lilia’s ear off about him still being too young to be left alone.
Now though he was simply left to his own devices in the castle. Lilia had told Silver that both Malleus and the Queen may be busy so he wouldn’t see them much but they knew he was there. Silver rarely ever saw the Queen she had watched him in the past. The woman was sweet considering that she had a hard demeanor on the outside and didn’t speak much with others. A part of Silver wondered if Malleus and Queen Maleficia actually knew he was there.
It wouldn’t be the first time Lilia would have left Silver at the castle and trusted that Malleus had received a text from him that Silver would be staying there. But it seemed Lilia was telling the truth because a maid seemed to approach him as soon as he entered the castle.
He guessed the woman was more like a babysitter than a maid. She was maybe six feet tall and seemed to be a elderly water like fae. The gills that seemed to be along her neck and her ears gave the idea of the fae type she may be. “My name is Ms.Periwinkle. If you would please follow me” she instructed before walking to lead the way. Her dark blue hair was slicked back into a bun and she wore a dark green button up shirt and black skirt with heels that clacked as she walked with Silver to the room he guessed he would be staying in.
She reminded Silver of what a principal looked like on some shows about schools he had seen on the tv. Principal’s on TV always seemed to be so put together and knowledgeable. The woman seemed to be so as well but maybe a little bit more intimidating and without the glasses that most people who seemed to look like her on shows wore.
Silver fiddled nervously with the golden dragon bracelet he was wearing. The dragon seemed to circle around and looked like it was eating its tail. Malleus had presented the bracelet to Silver when he was eight and expressed his determination to become Malleus’ knight and knights in training wore the golden dragon bracelets. Now Silver wore it alongside the bracelet his Papa had given him before leaving Night Raven College.
Malleus had spent hours searching for the beads that had broken off of the bracelet before he returned it to Silver. Silver couldn’t express how happy he was but he really was so happy. When Silver and the woman arrived at the room she walked Silver to wasn’t the one he usually stayed in while at the castle. He hadn’t exactly been to the room she had brought him to before. It was one of the guest rooms.
He guessed it would make sense why he would be staying in a guest room. His room was close to Malleus’s and it was possible they were worried that he would catch what he may have. “For the remainder of your stay we would like for you to please remain here.” Silver gave a nod he was sure that he could stay in that area while he was in the castle. “Can I go outside?”
Silver was hoping he could maybe walk around the garden and possibly read or even train some in the training yard. He had a sword that he practiced with there. “You may but please stay away from the highnesses side of the castle. The Prince and Queen are both stressed and we don’t wish for her to worry about much else.” The woman left and Silver pushed his bag under the guest bed before heading outside.
He guessed that most of the garden was most likely off limits. At least that left a good chunk of the garden left. The best part of the garden, the training ground, was left though. No one was there for the time being. The sound of swords against swords or against the training targets wasn’t there. When he entered Silver went straight for his training sword.
He looked over the sword after taking it from its sheath and smiled. Lilia had finally allowed Silver to get a sword that was actually made of metal. It wasn’t sharp enough to cut skin easily and was like the blades of safety scissors but able to get a good thwack if needed and could cause damage if the user was determined.
The hilt of the blade was made with a black metal that seemed to twist around a silver metal that looked like a rainbow when reflected by the sun and ended with a dragon’s head with a single green emerald for it’s eye on the base of the sword while its handle seemed to be the tale of the dragon. Silver had only seen the design on his own sword and Sebek’s.
The only difference was that Sebek’s had a bright green metal that twisted with the black instead but it fit him like Silver’s did. He went over to a burlap training dummy. He practiced swinging his sword and trying to remember the stance he should hold before turning to the dummy and beginning his attack on it. The dummy’s at the castle were magic. When you were ready to engage they would grab a wooden sword and would engage in battle against you.
Somehow their swords seemed to withstand any kind of sword whether metal or not that went against them. When you made a deadly blow of some kind or serious injury the dummy would kneel and admit defeat but if it managed to get your sword you were to kneel to the dummy or it would continue to engage in combat with you.
Whenever the battle was finished any tears in the dummy's material would somehow stitch itself back together and the dummy would be ready to battle again. Silver when training was mostly able to hit the middle section and legs of the dummy but if he jumped at it he could get higher up. Some animals wandered in to watch him and he placed his sword down for a moment and played with them.
The deer was the queen, a squirrel was the king and two rabbits were the princesses. In the end Silver’s goal was to save them from the dummy so he took up his sword before going to attack it. Silver guessed that the dummies had been made to stop if he did and occasionally he would look back and ask the animals if he was doing well while the dummy leaned against its wooden sword. Each time they would not or almost seem to make a noise that sounded like yes. Silver wasn’t sure how long he was in the training area but it had to have been awhile.
Lilia had dropped him off three hours after twelve and it seemed the sun was starting to set. A bat had even arrived to watch Silver it seemed. Silver pet the bat that was perched on a bar in the training room. Silver placed his sheathed sword to the side and turned to leave. Someone seemed to walk in. The person reminded Silver of Sebek. He looked like a knight coming in to train.
The fae had short wavy magenta hair that went to his chin. He sported a white long sleeved button up shirt and jeans with boots and on his hand was a gold bracelet similar to the one Silver had received from Malleus. Silver bet that they were most likely a knight in training unless he just really liked the bracelet. Usually when someone became a knight at the palace they would have a necklace on them at all times that signified they worked for the castle.
The necklace was silver and shaped like a dragon skull. It symbolized that they were responsible for the lives of both Malleus and Queen Maleficia. Sebek now wore the necklace of a knight. Even though fae didn’t become knights until they were three hundred an exception had been made for Sebek. He was ecstatic the day he received his own necklace. The fae looked older than Sebek. He looked like he was around Sebek’s age. Silver gave a wave to the fae when he entered. The fae looked at Silver and gave a small wave before grabbing his sword.
He must have realized who he had just waved at because he froze once he grabbed his sword before looking back at Silver. The fae ran at Silver, his sword drawn and Silver fell backwards when he went to run before trying to shield himself with his arms. Nothing happened though. Slowly Silver lowered his arms and noticed the fae’s sword by his face. He had stopped attacking Silver but didn’t seem pleased still. “What are you doing here, human scum?” Silver gave a nervous smile.
“V-visiting? My Papa left me here since he had to go somewhere with my Grandpa.” The fae took his sword away. “I would suggest you don’t come back here if you know what’s good for you unless you're an idiot. The other fae won’t be as nice as I am if they saw you here. You’re lucky I didn’t kill you.” Silver glared at the fae who seemed to be giving him a look of disgust still.
He knew that fae didn’t like humans but he highly doubted what the fae he was looking at said. Silver simply stood up and walked away back to the castle fidgeting with his bracelets. It wasn’t until Ms.Periwinkle asked that Silver noticed he had a gash on the skin over his left cheek bone that was bleeding.
///////////////
When Silver went back a day later the fae he had met before seemed to have already arrived. Ms.Periwinkle had been hesitant to let Silver go back to train the day after he received the cut and wanted him to stay in the castle at least one more day before he went back. “You know that if anyone gives you trouble the Queen and Prince won’t mind addressing them.” Silver simply gave her a confused look. “It’s fine. I think he thought I was a fae knight like him.”
Ms.Periwinkle raised a brow as she went over his cheek with some healing water. The cut didn’t seem to want to go away though no matter what she tried. “So someone did this to you?” Silver froze up for a moment. He had accidentally revealed that he had lied about accidentally injuring himself. “Ummm maybe. But it’s fine though. Maybe man might know fae kids who are better at being prepared for anything. Which means I need to train more.”
Ms.Periwinkle took a cotton ball with cleaning alcohol on it and patted Silver's cheek. “Trust me child, you are more than well prepared compared to any fae. If this maybe man seems any more hostile come see me immediately or if it is a dire situation the Prince or Queen.” Once Silver’s cheek had been bandaged Ms.Periwinkle held out her hand to Silver. “Now would you like to go get some cookies?” Silver knew he had promised Ms.Periwinkle he would and he did intend to keep that promise. He was certain the fae had seen him but didn’t take mind.
Silver wandered over and took his sword from the stand and belted its sheath to him before drawing the sword. Silver wandered over to one of the training dummies and began to battle with it. The swords clattered against each other and Silver seemed to defeat the dummy nearly every time. His height gave him a good advantage in being able to duck under the blows of the dummy. Silver found it even more helpful when the swing of an unexpected sword came at him. The sword came back and quickly Silver blocked it.
It was instinct to continue blocking as the sword came at him. The fae Silver had met earlier held the just swung sword in his hand. Silver looked at him confused. “What was that for?” The fae gave a menacing smile. “I wished to see if you were truly a knight in training or if you had simply stolen the bracelet you have. It seems you have better training than some knights I know.” Silver grinned proudly. “Of course I am. Though I bet I could have faced a knight anytime and have been able to take their bracelet from them. By the way my name's Silver.”
The magenta haired fae chuckled. “Is that so? I thought a human like you then would understand it isn’t a good thing to share your name with a fae.” Silver shrugged. “I’ve heard that it’s a myth that fae can steal someone’s name.” The magenta haired fae chuckled. “You may possibly be right. I guess since you met me on so bravely I should tell you my name. It’s Belladon.” Silver looked up in awe at Belladon. “Your name’s so cool.”
Belladon seemed proud of what Silver said. “It is. Now Silver I would like to propose an idea. The first to get the others bracelet gets to keep it.” Silver giggled. “That sounds fun. Let’s do it.” Silver realized it wasn’t best to expect the knight in training wouldn’t immediately start attacking. But in the end both were soon slashing at each other with their swords. Silver had to duck multiple times to avoid the blade that threatened to hit him and the opposing fae seemed as if he was simply having fun as he went against Silver.
He must have gotten lost in the fury of swinging his blade though because he hadn’t moved to make any tries to grab Silver’s bracelet. It left an opening then for Silver. If he was careful enough about ducking to aim for the bracelet he wanted to grab he would be able to tear it off maybe without the fae even noticing.
He chose to do it when the knight in training swung at him for the tenth time. The fae seemed to know what Silver was planning though and while he was going under his sword grabbed him back the back of his shirt as he dodged the sword.
The fae looked up at Silver and gave a successful grin. That was until Silver held up the fae’s bracelet to him. His face immediately fell and Silver was dropped to the ground. He was quick to rebound and stand up, holding the bracelet out to the fae. “I guess even weak humans can have beginner's luck.” Silver felt a twinge of hurt but glared at the soldier. “I’m not a weak human! You’re just a weak knight!”
Silver hadn’t meant to be too mean but it was obvious within seconds that he struck a nerve. A sharp pain on his cheek from being whacked revealed that. Silver bit his lip trying not to sob in front of the fae. Sebek had told him it was weak to cry in the face of someone who is your enemy. “I don’t understand why they started to accept human scum here but you must be the worst one they’ve accepted. Can’t even face a hit head on.” Silver didn’t try to go to the training ground after that.
///////////////
It was halfway through his first week at the castle when Silver finally saw Malleus. He had been wandering around and both Malleus and Sebek were at the library. He had rumors that the two were leaving later that night. At the moment they were looking around the library and looking over books. Silver made sure to keep as quiet as possible since they hadn’t noticed him. It wasn’t hard to find a couch on the other side of the library and sit on it with the books he had decided to read.
He seemed to be able to blend in as well because Malleus and Sebek almost didn’t notice he was there. It wasn’t until Silver sneezed that they even realized someone else was in the room. Silver quickly apologized and when he realized they didn’t mind he couldn’t try to hide that he was there anymore because seeing them jump out of their skin almost after they heard him sneeze was hilarious.
“How long have you been there?” Malleus inquired, all attention lost to the books he had been looking at. Silver shrugged, unsure of an answer himself. “Don’t know. Probably a while. Why?” Malleus didn’t have much of an answer besides wondering why. “It was just an interest of mine. I was wondering though why I haven’t seen you around. I’ve checked your room and you weren’t there.”
Silver now understood maybe why he had stayed in a separate room. “Ms.Periwinkle took me to a different room because everyone was busy doing stuff and she didn’t want me to accidentally interrupt. It makes sense though because otherwise you wouldn’t have gotten anything done right?” Malleus didn’t respond to his question and simply gave another. “Who is Ms.Periwinkle? I don’t believe I’ve seen her around the castle before.” Silver was surprised.
“Ms.Periwinkle is like this awesome lady I think Queen Maleficia assigned to me as a babysitter. She's super nice and gives me cookies. We should definitely see her later.” Malleus didn’t have any opposition but Sebek did. “Me and Malleus both have important things we must do! We’ll have to meet her some other time!” Malleus gave Sebek a look before he turned back to Silver.
“Besides the fact that we must meet her, I was wondering if you wished to go to the training grounds later. I don’t know if you have gone there often but it would do Sebek well to get in some training. Maybe you both could train together.” Silver gave a smile. He hadn’t been to the training grounds with Sebek for a bit and hopefully Belladon wouldn’t be there. If he was, Silver was going to apologize. Maybe he had been too mean.
“By the way Silver I was wondering what happened to your cheek?” Silver was confused at first until he remembered the bandage that was covering the cut on it that was under his eye. “I accidentally got cut on a rock when I fell asleep. Ms.Periwinkle said it’ll heal but it might take a bit and may leave a scar. It’s fine though.” Silver hurried to get to the library door not wanting Malleus to bother about it and he was sure Belladon hadn’t meant to hurt him.
As they walked Silver thought over how to apologize to Belladon. He guessed just going up and apologizing outright would be best. When the three got to the training grounds it seemed Belladon wasn’t in sight. No one was in sight. He guessed it had been empty when he visited. Maybe it had been ordered that he was alone when he went out there. But that wouldn’t make sense. Unless Belladon had been ignoring orders. But it wouldn’t be good on his part as a knight in training. It was possible he had been away and hadn’t realized the order was given.
That was the only reason Silver could think of. Silver didn’t want to think of it much more. He didn’t care if Belladon wasn’t there. He had said something mean about humans. Papa said it was best to ignore people’s mean words and tell him or Malleus if he needed to. Silver didn’t train much with Sebek and Malleus. Mostly Sebek and Malleus would go against one another. It was still hard for Sebek to raise a sword against Malleus even when it was him who asked.
But watching them duel was beautiful. There would be magic surrounding that was green smoke combined with lightning to make a beautiful scene around them like a picture. Silver had stopped going against the dummy he had been facing against to watch the beautiful dance of swords they both seemed to perform. When Sebek grew tired of going against Malleus and worried he would injure him, Sebek went against Silver.
It was so much more enjoyable than going against the dummies. It felt so much more real. Even if Sebek went easy on him, going against someone he knew felt like an actual training battle. When he had gone against Belladon it felt like he was trying to survive against an enemy. Going against a friend was thriving like he had seen between Sebek and Malleus or other knights that had trained against one another when he visited. That was until the bandage on Silver’s cheek came off.
It had covered his wound but also helped hide the bruise that had formed after Belladon had hit him. Sebek immediately stopped when the bandage came off. He looked like he was going to say something at first but stopped his gaze now focused on Silver’s face. Silver expected Sebek to yell and demand to know what had happened to his cheek.
His silence was worse.
Silver would rather Sebek yell at him than go silent. Slowly he walked over to Silver and brought his hand up to Silver’s cheek. It was reflex to flinch away from his hand when he went to touch the injury. It may have been a few days since he received it but the wound was still sore. Sebek then let out the most quiet voice Silver had ever heard him speak when addressing him.
“Silver, who hit you?”
///////////////
Ms.Periwinkle had been put in charge of heavily watching over Silver now. He had told Sebek and Malleus that a dummy had accidentally hit him with a sword. The answer hadn’t satisfied either one of them. Silver didn’t want to get Belladon in trouble. He had made him mad so it wouldn’t make sense to make it seem like Belladon was in the wrong. Before they left Malleus tried to get an answer out of Silver but all he did was repeat the answer he gave earlier.
Malleus seemed to drop it and kissed Silver’s forehead before he and Sebek left. It had been laced with healing magic and managed to heal his bruise but the cut on his cheek still remained. Five days had passed since they left and Silver had gone back to being bored. He mostly read in the castle and walked around the grounds. The sound of swords clashing at the training grounds was tempting now.
He was still worried about seeing Belladon but maybe it would be best to just get apologizing over with. Plus Ms.Periwinkle seemed to be getting suspicious over the fact that he hadn’t visited the training grounds. It was as thrilling as Silver had thought when he saw the training grounds. They left once both were dressed in clothes that were suitable for sword training.
Like usual there were fae of all kinds. All of them looked magical and were around Sebek’s age or older. Silver would never say that to any fae but it did make him question how old they were sometimes. Lilia had taught him it was rude to ask so Silver would simply be left to guess what could possibly be. He looked up at Ms.Periwinkle to make sure he got permission to leave. She gave him a nod and Silver ran off. Knights and knights in training waved to Silver while others focused on practicing.
Silver went over and walked over to a training dummy that was open to anyone’s use. Training with the dummy while others were around him made it feel more mystical. Like he was actually in a battle and helping to defend the castle from a threat that may enter it. Silver felt like he was his true and natural self doing something that felt engraved in his soul and bones. The spell eventually has to break though and it was broken when a sword seemed to slash at him.
He turned to deflect it but there seemed to be a knight who had already blocked it. Belladon was the wielder of the sword that had been swung at him. Silver smiled widely and waved to Belladon. Belladon didn’t smile or wave back and instead glared at the knight. “Why did you block me?” he asked accusingly. The bearded fae glared back at Belladon. “You raised your blade against a child.” the elderly fae replied with a gravely European accent.
“He is not incapable of defending himself. I trained with him some days ago.” Ms.Periwinkle walked to stand next to the knight. “Have you gone against the Queen’s word then? She instructed that knights were not to go against Silver unless there was someone to watch over the battle that the Queen trusted?” Belladon rolled his eyes. “I didn’t expect of all people it was a human that the Queen had made the rule for. I believed it was the half fae Sebek.” Silver looked towards the Knight and Ms.Periwinkle.
“He’s ok. Belladon didn’t do anything wrong. Anyways, I wanted to apologize for being rude to him yesterday.” Ms.Periwinkle looked down at Silver before she gently ushered him in front of her. “You may speak your peace to him. Belladon will have to be escorted away in a moment.” Silver looked up at Belladon. He looked disgusted as he looked down at Silver.
Silver didn’t shy away though he was determined to apologize. “I’m sorry for saying you were a weak knight after what you said. I didn’t mean to make you upset.” Belladon didn’t seem to take any mind to the apology. “My words still stand as to what I said.” Silver gave Belladon a determined look. “Then I’ll train more and prove to you that I’m not a weak human with beginner’s luck and that the other stuff you said isn’t true.”
Silver seemed to have gained the attention of the other knights who were training after he said that. Ms.Periwinkle looked down at Silver before she kneeled to his height. “Silver dear can you tell me what else he said to you?” Silver was confused. “Yeah he said mean stuff when we first met. It was a bunch of mean stuff. Papa said some fae may be mean though so it’s fine.” Ms.Periwinkle seemed to differ in what Silver thought.
“Silver, dear this isn’t really ok. I need to know what he said to you.” Silver hesitantly looked at Ms.Periwinkle. “Promise he won’t get in trouble?” Ms.Periwinkle shook her head. “I can’t promise that but I can say his punishment may not be too bad if you tell me the truth.” Silver sighed. “Well when we first met I think I scared him and he called me human scum and said not to come back here unless I was an idiot.” Silver wasn’t enjoying having to talk about what happened. Especially when the knights were staring intensely.
“B-but I didn’t want to listen. Malleus said that none of the Knights were allowed to tell me what to do unless it was an emergency and they said fall back. So I came back. We had a challenge to see who could get the other’s bracelet. I ended up winning but didn’t want to keep his bracelet like he said the winner would so I gave it back.” Silver started fiddling with his bracelets. It helped to keep him focused.
“He said I was a weak human that got beginner’s luck. So I said I wasn’t a weak human but he was a weak knight and then he got mad. and said he didn't understand why they were starting to accept human scum and that I couldn' take a hit head on.” Silver looked away ashamed tears in his eyes. “I promise I didn’t mean to make him upset. I’m sorry.” Ms.Periwinkle patted Silver’s shoulder. “It is not your fault, child. Tell me though when you mentioned a hit did he attack or hurt you?” Silver gave a shrug.
“Wh-when I scared him accidentally cut my cheek with his sword. That’s how I got my cut a-an when he got mad he hit my face. It’s how I got that bruise. ” Silver quickly rubbed away his tears. “D-don’t be mad at him or m-me. Please. I know it was my fault and I lied to Malleus and Sebek and you but please.” Silver broke down sobbing trying to quickly wipe away his tears. Ms.Periwinkle brought her hand up to Silver’s face and stroked away his tears.
“Child of Man I am not mad at you. Simply at the fae who dared cause you harm. Know that from now on if any fae does this to you again I wish to know personally.”
Silver recognized the voice that spoke to him. Ms.Periwinkle’s voice sounded like his grandma’s. Like Queen Maleficia’s. The Knight who defended Silver held out his hand to Ms.Periwinkle. “Do you require assistance, My Queen?”She shook her head no and stood. In a sudden blink Queen Maleficia was standing on the training ground dressed in clothes worn to practice with swords. “Knight Edond I trust you will take care of this fae along with the others?” The Knight gave a nod and kneeled to Queen Maleficia. “We shall carry out whatever you wish, My Queen.”
Queen Maleficia gave a gentle smile. “Then you may rise.” Knight Edond rose and smiled towards Silver. “You are brave for telling us the truth now young human. Thank you.” Silver gave a wet smile towards Knight Edond. “Thanks Mr.Edond.” Queen Maleficia looked towards Silver and held out her hand to him. “Let us go inside Silver. I wish to spend time with you as myself.” Silver happily took her hand in his own excitement to spend time with Queen Maleficia.
(Ok so first Ms.Periwinkle is the Queen's disguise for when she doesn't want anyone to notice her. Easily she can make the knights. Knight Edond is a very trusted Knight of her's though so she has no problem with him knowing this information and he has known it for a long time. The Ms.Periwinkle form Queen Maleficia has is useful more now if she wants to do anything in the future with Silver ad leave the castle without attracting fame.
Now onto the reason Silver's cut wouldn't heal since Queen Maleficia was the person healing it. Fae poison magic. Belladon laces his swords with poison and unless he willing gives it over there is no antidote for the poison so the best Queen Maleficia can do is heal the would as much as possible. Her magic takes away all of the horrible side effects but she cannot remove any possible scarring it may cause.")

(For Ficlet Frenzy)
Lilia had to go on yet another long mission but not without entrusting his infant son’s safety to Malleus and his fairy godmother Queen Maleficia. Malleus has to tend to his lessons for the afternoon so the queen watches over the baby.
By the time Malleus finishes his lessons and Lilia returns she does not want to part from the baby she grew so fond of- so much so that she has gone full grandmother mode and tries to keep Silver with her.
(Please make this super fluffy and cute!! I need to be nuked with cuteness)
[✐] ficlet frenzy note: this was written before chapter 7 part 6!
“Malleus. Where is Silver?”
Tumblr media
Footsteps echo in the empty hall as Lilia strides down it, heart thumping against his chest as though rattling against jail bars. Even now, so many years later, he cannot help the pinpricks of anxiety that spike his blood at the thought of approaching her Majesty for anything; even if the queen places a great deal of trust in Lilia, continuing to call upon his assistance in spite of his retirement, it is still daunting to stand under her sharp gaze, emerald-green eyes that seem to pierce his very soul.
He’d left Silver in Malleus’ care when leaving for this trip — and to a greater extent, the queen’s as well, for this was her castle, after all.
So how had things escalated to the extent where Malleus was no longer Silver’s primary caretaker?
Before he realises it, he’s reached the end of the hallway. Lilia stares up at the tall oak doors looming over him. For the first time in quite a while, he feels small again, as though he has shrunken to insignificance, his power diluted and severed.
Swallowing the lump in his throat, Lilia raises a fist, and knocks three times.
And after a while, he hears it: “You may enter.”
“Your Majesty,” Lilia greets as he pushes open the doors to the old nursery. Once, it had been a space for Malleus, the young prince living in it for many decades until he outgrew his nest and moved into sprawling chambers of his own. But now, a new life has been breathed into it: a cradle takes up the centrepiece of the room, a hand-crafted mobile spinning lazily above it, with dangling charms of dragons circling round and round. The rest of the room is taken up by deceptively simple wooden furniture, minimalistic in their appearance, yet sporting elegant carvings — such as the open toy box Lilia’s eyes flick to, numerous toys spread out across the carpeted-covered floor.
And what a sight it is, to bear witness to the Queen Maleficia, great ruler of Briar Valley, sitting on the floor and cooing at a human infant stacking wooden blocks! She scarcely pays Lilia any mind as he lingers awkwardly in the doorway, instead clapping her hands together as Silver finishes stacking a block. “Oh, how smart you are, my little sunshine!” she praises, reaching to wrap her clawed hands under Silver’s arms — a sight that makes Lilia wince, mind flashing through worst-case scenarios of claws slicing flesh — before lifting him up in the air. “You learn so quickly for a human,” she coos as Silver babbles excitedly, chubby fingers reaching for her horns.
“Ah-ah-ah!” Queen Maleficia raises Silver a little away from her, clicking her tongue. “Naughty, naughty! What have I said about touching my horns, hm, my sweet potato?” It is nigh miraculous that her voice lacks any semblance of anger or irritation, instead flooded with a sickening fondness; to touch the horns of royalty is a blatant breach of boundaries at best, and a crime punishable by death at worst. “I understand that they are quite beautiful,” Maleficia says, voice slicked with pride, “but they are truly sensitive, dear Silver; why not play with this instead?”
He watches as she places Silver down onto the mat before pressing another toy — a wooden dragon littered with scorch marks, making it clear who it used to belong to — into his hands. It is only when Silver is giggling and moving the wooden beast back and forth in the air that Lilia clears his throat, making his presence clear.
The change is instantaneous. As soon as Maleficia lays her eyes on him, her face twists into cool, impassive neutrality, the regal expression of an experienced queen. “Vanrouge,” she greets, her reserved voice a stark contrast to the babbling baby beside her, and her earlier display of sickening sweetness. “So you’ve returned.”
“Your Majesty,” Lilia repeats again. Sweat beads along the back of his neck, but he will not back down; he has to bring his child home, after all. “I thank you and Prince Malleus for taking such good care of Silver in my absence. However, I best be bringing him home now—”
“No.”
He blinks. “I— pardon?”
“Why not stay a while longer, Vanrouge?” Maleficia asks, turning away from him, her face breaking into yet another smitten smile as she reaches for Silver, ruffling his hair as he babbles excitedly at her. Lilia squints; did Silver just call her Malfi?! “There is no rush for you both to return home, is there? Besides, a growing boy like you, my tiny snowball—” She reaches to tickle him, causing Silver to erupt into a giggling fit, tumbling back onto the floor as he squeals excitedly, “—needs excellent food to grow strong and healthy.” Her eyes flick back to Lilia, and he feels pinned to the spot. “Is that not right, Vanrouge?”
“...I could not possibly deny such a generous request, my queen,” Lilia eventually forces out, eyes flicking between Silver and Maleficia.
“Good, good.” With two claps of her hand, Maleficia smiles at him. “I shall see you at dinner then, hm? Do not be late, Vanrouge.”
“I shall not. But… Queen Maleficia—”
“Yes?”
“I would quite like to… spend some time with my child.”
Lilia stares at Silver, silently pleading with him to glance over at Lilia and call out for him, only to be silently betrayed when the infant calls again for “Malfi!” Curses, he thinks, as Maleficia answers the call with a joyful vigour. Silver, how could you…!
“We shall see you at dinner, Vanrouge,” Maleficia answers smoothly, not even looking at him anymore. “Do pardon me for wishing to spend some time with my godson before he leaves, would you?”
And Lilia has no room to reply.

The Unhatched Egg [Book 7 Spoilers]
It has taken him some time to drag himself to the nursery. The years it has been since anyone stepped foot in here, ah, he wonders. The General of the East carefully opens the doors, slipping his small frame inside. This room is untouched. So much so, it's not just dust that's settled, but the lingering of her magic.
The abandoned egg. The heir...
Nestled sweetly in its crib. Sorrowfully abandoned in a deep grief. The loss of the princess was too much for any of them, so much so that the child she left behind remains stagnant.
There is a fear that lingers in Lilia's heart. That the egg has gone cold, and dead. It takes so much magic and love to hatch a baby dragon... but they don't know what happens if the mother dies, and the egg is left alone.
The magestone in the crib kept it warm. Slowly, he lifts the dusty egg in his arms, holding it close.
Her magic lingers--but. But!
Tears spring from his eyes. When was the last time he wept?
The little one's alive.
There's hope.
---
He spends many days with it. Not just days, but months. Even years go by with this secret task.
Slipping unseen into the nursery. Cleaning it up himself... and cradling the little one. He tries his best to pour magic in. The vain hope that he might be able to hatch the little one himself. With sweet songs and all the love he has to give.
Stories of his parents, those he loved so very much. Tales of the world he's seen beyond their little Valley. The home they have left. Even promises, that he'll always be there for this little one... as his parents cannot.
The idea of approaching Malefencia with the egg is not a wise move. She is still well and deep in the throes of her grief.
Yet, the resolve to tell her solidifies. When he finally feels movement from the little one.
---
"My Queen." He approaches without decorum or ceremony. He knows what he risks like this, but it's fine. To give the heir a chance to be properly hatched--which is beyond his abilities, he thinks, despite the effort he's put forth.
Nothing compares to the magic of a dragon.
"Lilia, what brings--" The voice catches in his queen's throat as she spies the egg bundled in his arms. The rage starts to build in her. The daring folly, the--
"He moves!" Ah, that temper of his dear queen...
"What?" She's stunned, enough that the lightning she was gathering to smite him dissipates.
"He--" Rushing toward her, but being mindful of the lovely bundle in his arms, he then offers the egg out to her. "He moves, my Queen."
Tentatively, she reaches to take the egg into her arms. A soft sound falls from her lips. "...He moves..."
There, she cradles the egg close to her. Turning, and leaving the room without a word.
Lilia lets out a sigh of relief: his life is spared...
And with their Queen to pour her magic into the little egg, the heir will soon hatch.
The only true piece that their lost princess left behind.
And... and hope.
Hope for the future.

With the recent likes I’ve been getting in regards to the Grandma Draconia drawing from last year, I’m starting to think: how on earth will Jo gain her blessing to even marry Malleus 😆
I have a feeling Queen Maleficia would be even more intimidating to approach than her grandson.
God, all of the meet-the-in-laws headcanons will begin to rise when we know more about her in the future or even see her 🥲 my pen will be ready
((Shameless plug, please let her be some sort gorgeous-cougar 😆 or I don’t know, Angelina Jolie in Yana Toboso art style haha ))

What I envision Queen Maleficia to look like!
The Draconia Family
Tumblr media
Malleus's mother and grandmother
I made his mother look more youthful
As for the grand mother i also didn't want to make her look too old since fae don't age regularly like humans
I'm currently drawing a mini-comic with them as main characters

Queen Rose: Today's event has brought me satisfaction. May we have the pleasure of repeating such an occasion upon your next visit to Devildom.
MC: I'm looking forward to it. *smiles*
Queen Rose: Ah, I mustn't overlook this: I am eagerly anticipating the moment when I shall address you as "Your Majesty" upon our next meeting.
MC: Of course. I'm glad to- Huh? Can you repeat that, Your Majesty?
Queen Rose: *chuckles* I will leave the explanation to Diavolo. *disappears*
MC: ...
Ace: YOU'RE GOING TO BE A ROYALTY?!!
Deuce: From being a prefect of Ramshackle dorm to being a professor of Night Raven College, and now-
Solomon: A deity.
MC: Me becoming a demon noble doesn't mean that I'll be a deity, Sol.
Solomon: But it's the truth.
MC: ...
MC: That can't be.
Solomon: Thirteen confirmed it. You are now a deity.
MC: ...
MC: No.
MC: Nonononononono-
Simeon: Solomon, you scared MC.
Solomon: Haha! My bad!
Vil: Why are you so against becoming a deity?
MC: I promised my wife that I would give her my soul when she asks for it someday.
Vil: ...
Vil: What?
MC: And becoming a deity would mean beefing with Michael.
Simeon: *chuckles* Oh, yes. That will surely happen.
Leona: This "Michael" doesn't like you?
MC: You could say that.
Riddle: I see. Well, it seems that's your only concern and not the fact that you will be marrying Diavolo.
MC: Why would I be concerned about that?
Leona: Wow. So if I ask you to marry me, you wouldn't mind?
MC: ...
MC: It depends. You like kids?
Vil: Pft-
Leona: ...
Riddle: One way to deter Leona-senpai.
Satan: MC, there was a fairy who handed us this piece of paper.
Belphie: *yawns* I think it's some letter of some sort.
Satan: And it's addressed to you so we didn't open it.
MC: Oh. Thank you, Satan, Belphie.
MC: *proceeds to open and read the contents of the letter*
MC: Ah. It's an invitation from the Queen of Briar Valley.
Belphie: Malleus's grandma?
MC: Yes. Queen Maleficia. She wants me to visit right now.
Satan: Eh... But you said that you are going to spend time with us.
Belphie: *frowns*
MC: I'll be back before this evening, I promise.
Belphie: Evening.
MC: Yes. Evening.
Satan: Still, be careful. Summon us if you encounter any problems.
MC: Sure thing.
Maleficia: What do you think?
MC: *looking at a wedding dress* It looks great.
Maleficia: Right? Malleus's future spouse will be wearing this.
MC: Eh? You have found a partner for him?
Maleficia: Yes. *then proceeds to stare at them*
MC: ...
MC: Do I know this person?
Maleficia: Yes. You know them very well.
MC: ...
MC: Your Majesty... I am... the worst option.
Maleficia: But think about it, Malleus will be your only husband here in Twisted Wonderland.
MC: Ma'am, I love your grandson. We're friends. But spare him. Please.

sugar sugar rune x twst au word salad
Tumblr media
“The heart is yours to take, but you must not allow yours to be taken.”
The concept of this AU borrows a lot of ideas from the animanga Sugar Sugar Rune! ^^ It’s an older shojo series that I always think of when Halloween season arrives. Sugar Sugar Rune is about two years witches who are best friends, Chocolat and Vanilla, who compete to capture the most hearts in the human world. Whoever is victorious will become queen of the Magical World—but with love comes danger. If their own hearts get stolen, then they can lose their lives.
I should add, I currently don’t intend to write a fic based on this, I just wanted to braindump my ideas out and speculate on how this AU would work.
And now, without further ado…!
I think a good place to start is to explain the key points about the world and other relevant lore! Then we will get into the characters. (No story spoilers though, this AU won’t follow the original plot of Sugar Sugar Rune to a T!)
So the Magical World of Sugar Sugar Rune is where all magical creatures, including witches and wizards, reside. In the Magical World, ecure (or hearts), crystallized emotions, serve as an energy source and currency. Mages must frequently venture into the Human World in order to "harvest "pick up"/harvest ecure since humans have the unique ability to regenerate their hearts even when already stolen. Contrasting humans, mages only have one heart. That means if a mage's heart is taken, they will surely die. When mages fall in love with one another, they exchange their hearts during their wedding vows. They have to be careful who they fall in love with, as they can literally "die of a broken heart" if their partner betrays them. It's ill-advised for a mage to fall in love with a human, as while humans lack the ability to "pick up" hearts, a mage has to voluntarily hand their heart over if they reach a certain point (the color red)
Speaking of red!! Ecure/hearts can come in various colors depending on the emotion associated with it. Each color (and thus emotion) is associated with a different value, which roughly aligns with the value of the Japanese yen. The values are, as follows:
Yellow or Jaune - surprise, fear (5 ecure)
Orange - love at first sight, crush, infatuation (300 ecure)
Green or Vert - friendship (350 ecure)
Rainbow - happiness, delight, amusement (500 ecure)
Pink or Rose - the beginning stages of love, sweet love (1000 ecure)
Purple or Violet - lust, forbidden love (2500 ecure)
Blue or Bleu - respect (3000 ecure)
Red or Rouge - passionate love (5000 ecure)
Black or Noir - hatred, jealousy (no known value, hurts mages) I think this works really well with the concept of Blot in Twst—
White or Blanc - innocence (no known value, purified black heart; has restorative or healing properties)
Besides serving as energy and currency, ecure are also a way of counting points for Queen Candidacy. In the Magical World, the ruler is determined not by birth by through a competition in which candidates compete to see who can collect the most ecure (I believe over the span of a year). In the original Sugar Sugar Rune, the two candidates are Vanilla and Chocolat. The former is shy, sweet, and sort of a crybaby, with her mother being the current queen. Chocolat is the daughter of the queen's former competitor and comes off as more of a brash tomboy.
So what I'm proposing for the Sugar Sugar Rune x Twst AU is :DD basically keep all the lore but replace the two protags with MALLEUS (as Vanilla) AND LEONA (as Chocolat). They won’t be besties like the original MCs were, but more like traditional rivals because it would be funny lmao
Malleus is the more regal and composed of the two (he is literally a crown prince), so he has that obvious parallel with Vanilla. Not only that, but he's more withdrawn and has deep insecurities about being alone (also similar to Vanilla). I think his reputation could play well into the AU as well; in the Magical World, everyone fears him so he’s used to being alone—but in the Human World, he’s beloved for being awkward and mysterious (reflecting the international Twst fandom’s adoration for the guy). Malleus would feel obligated to win to carry on his family’s legacy but also because he feels like if he doesn’t, he has nothing left. No friends, no people to keep at his side—but if he has the status of King, then he’ll have a whole nation looking to him. Since his mom is uh… “with the stars”, the current Magical World queen could be his grandmother, and Malleus may feel like he has that legacy to live up to.
Leona, like Chocolat, is the underdog. What he lacks in status (as crown prince) he makes up for in intelligence and charisma, which nets him many followers in the Magical World. He comes off as tough and hard to approach to humans who aren’t used to his demanding attitude though, so it puts him at a disadvantage in the competition. He’s very much the “bad boy” similar to how Chocolat wasn’t a traditionally girly girl, but it’s ultimately the heart of gold buried underneath his hard edges that will eventually put him toe-to-toe with Malleus. I think Leona’s reasoning for wanting to be King would be similar to what he expresses in his original source material—to prove himself worthy, regardless of the family or order he was born in. Maybe he was almost not considered to be a candidate at all and his brother Falena was supposed to compete? Or alternatively, Falena is Malleus’s real competitor but Leona snuck into the Human World as an upstart/self-imposed third entry 😂
Chocolat and Vanilla have a mentor mage in the Human World named Robin (who is a famous rock star fjsvwisnksks). He’s the one who explains things to them and serves as their guardian figure while they room together and study at a human school for the Queen Candidacy.
What I’m thinking is that Leona and Malleus will venture into the Human World under the guidance of… Crowley 🤡 LISTEN, IT WOULD BE FUNNY Crowley does a lot of the exposition in Twst, so he could reprise that role here. He is also vain and thinks highly of himself (but ultimately cherishes his students) like Robin. Picture Crowley having to mediate between Leona and Malleus fighting every second of the day while living together—
That’s honestly all we need to replace to get the AU rolling. If we want to, we could expand the Queen (King now I guess) Candidacy to have more candidates. Then maybe the other Twst characters could also participate but the story could still center on Malleus and Leona as the two to “keep an eye on”/audience favorites.
I don’t really know where I’m going with this 🤔 but I do think this could be a fun AU for like. Yume/self insert scenarios so you can angst about whether your feelings are real or fabricated so [insert mage of choice here] can harvest ya like a plant… Or angst about not being able to be with [insert mage of choice here] because they might literally perish… Many possibilities!

Sneak peek!! I started thinking about Lilia and Maleficia having a bit of a one-sided mother-son relationship + dragons always keeping their cherished treasure all nice and polished :>
"What are you wearing?" The queen's voice is full of bewilderment, her expression downright offended as Lilia strides into the garden where he, Princess Malenora, and Lord Revan were meant to meet with her majesty for tea. Due to her schedule it's difficult for one to have a personal audience with the queen, let alone sit down and have tea with her, so this is the first time Lilia has seen her and she has seen him since his return. Lilia halts in his tracks, whirling around for a moment to glance behind him to ensure that she was, indeed, speaking to him. "Clothes?" he questions in return. The queen's eyes track him with continued bewilderment as he approaches the table. Beside her, Malenora's shoulders shake with a barely-restrained laugh while on her other side a strained smile is etched onto Revan's face at the inevitable argument that's about to commence. Lilia can't see what's so appalling, really. He was wearing clothes, and it's even from his wardrobe and not his general's attire like he had considered before Malenora had shot him down. "I'm certain that Mother would have flames spewing out of her ears if she sees you wearing clothes other than what she had prepared for you," she had warned him with an amused smile. Lilia didn't think he would have the patience to deal with the queen's temper during what is meant to be a relaxing gathering, so he had relented and worn the silks, but just enough to cover himself and look presentable. He has no desire to drag around long sleeves and heavy robes everywhere he goes. He should've known though, that that would not be enough to appease a dragon.

TWST SVTFOE CROSSOVER
Since we’ve seen Queens predominantly take over the role of matriarch in the Draconia line, with Malleus being the exception (there’s Maleficia, Mallenor and quite possible Maleficent herself) I like to imagine a kind of magical queen crossover
Each queen still follows the dark aesthetic but they still get their own individuality and the “wand” being the staff maleficent made from a branch (check live action maleficent movie)
The wand is more or less an extension of their magic and unlike the svtfoe show it is more or less an artifact for show, a tool to help wield their powers, powers they can conjure themselves since they’re so ridiculously op

Princess Malenoa seems heavily correlated with Roses as her castle is named as Wild Rose Castle.
Tumblr media
It reminded me of Malleus mentioning that Maleficia always sends rose seeds when it was his birthday.
Malleus is Malenoa's son... I think her sentiment in sending the rose seeds every birthday is to tell Malleus that his mother is also attending and celebrating his birthday. 😭🌹
Tumblr media
Because of the amount of rose seeds Malleus' grandmother sends, Malleus eventually grew a rose garden out of it.
The current Briar Valley castle is called Black Scale Castle. Assuming the Malenoa's castle was destroyed or most likely the Land of Briar relocated to Briar Valley thus couldn't keep the castle—
I wonder if that's Maleficia's way to pay respects to the previous Wild Rose Castle? By making Malenoa's son plant the roses that used to surround it even after it no longer exists 😭 (I HC its full of roses that's why its called wild rose castle lol)
Tumblr media
I'd die actually if they literally reveal a non-silouette Princess Malenoa 🥲💕✨✨

Why Malleus' grandmother, Queen Maleficia is NOT Maleficent
In one of Malleus' cards (I don't actually play the game, I watch vids of it on YouTube), Sebek suggests that Malleus is going to be even more powerful than the Thorn Fairy (Maleficent) herself, and Malleus responds with "I can't even light a candle to my grandmother yet". This has caused many Twisted Wonderland fans to believe that Malleus' grandmother (Queen Maleficia) is Maleficent. However, the "even" part of his sentence suggests a comparison of power between Malleus himself, his grandmother (Queen Maleficia), and the Thorn Fairy (Maleficent), with Malleus being the least powerful of the three, his grandmother (Queen Maleficia) being the second powerful, and the Thorn Fairy (Maleficent) being the most powerful. Because there are not two, but three people that he is referring to and comparing when discussing his grandmother, it can be inferred that Malleus, his grandmother (Queen Maleficia), and the Thorn Fairy (Maleficent) are three separate people, meaning that Malleus' grandmother (Queen Maleficia) and the Thorn Fairy (Maleficent) are two separate people as well.
Also, in my "Queen Maleficia Headcanons", I stated that Queen Maleficia had a human ex-boyfriend who left her for a gentle human princess, and she sought vengeance against him by capturing, torturing, and demanding ransom of her. In the live-action Maleficient movie, Maleficent has something similar - she had a human boyfriend who cut off her wings and gave them to a human king in exchange for his daughter's, a princess' hand-in marriage, and she sought vengeance by cursing his [her human ex-boyfriend's] daughter, Princess Aurora/Sleeping Beauty. However, Twisted Wonderland is mostly based off of the animated, not live-action Disney movies, meaning that my "Queen Maleficia Headcanons" are simply common villain tropes I've noticed in fairytales and media that I placed onto Queen Maleficia, but aren't based off of Maleficent.

Reassurance
(Chapter 14 of A Painful Apology)
Malleus had a throbbing headache when he woke up. It took a moment to remember all that had happened but he did immediately. Malleus whipped his head around desperately to see where Silver was. A hand gently touch his shoulder and the voice of a elderly woman spoke. "Lilia's charge is here with me and the grandson of Zigivolt is still asleep."
malleus turned to see his grandmother. A part of him had expected to see Lilia when he awoke demanding to know what had happened. He wasn't completely disappointed that his grandmother was there. Silver was asleep on her lap in one of Lilia's t-shirts and some shorts. Bandages were wrapped up his arms but Malleus's grandmother held him carefully and securely with her hand that wasn't on Malleus's shoulder.
"How are you feeling grandson?" Malleus shrugged. "I feel better than I thought I would have. My wounds do not feel painful." Queen Maleficia released Malleus' shoulder. "I was able to heal your wounds for the most part. At least better than the nurse that was here. The human was awake whenever I arrived and rather panicked. I'm confused by what he said but he seemed distraught over the fact that he had hurt you. Did he hurt you?"
Malleus hesitantly gave a answer. He had to approach the situation delicately or he wasn't sure his grandmother would let Silver live. No matter how much she loved the human secretly. "He was being controlled by a leshy I belied Al-Asim called it. The beast lured him and made the human close to overblotting by using magic and a protection bracelet his father had given him. He didn't mean to harm me."
Malleus carefully reached a hand out to Silver and gently touched a cut that was barely hidden by his hair. "I…accidentally harmed him first when I overblotted. He did the same and didn't mean to harm me. I blame the damned leshy. Not the human." Malleus looked up at his grandmother desperately. "Is there anyway to make him forget what happened in his dreams when I overblotted and about Mim? I don't want him to grow to hate himself because of who his biological father is."
The Queen shook her head and gave Malleus a sympathetic look. "Removing or making him forget is a dangerous thing. It is capable of destroying the mind if not done right. Even I would not attempt it." Queen Maleficia placed a hand on Silver's forehead and neck as if she was checking him for a fever. "Do you wish for me to awaken him? I've kept him in a state of distortation so that he wouldn't keep crying when he saw you and Zigivolt's grandson in the infirmary. His body is still healing itself worsening his sickness through stress isn't good."
Malleus placed his own hand on Silver's forehead. It was hotter than he would have thought it was. "I would like to speak with him when he is in his right mind. Have you tried giving him any medicine?" Malleus didn't doubt his grandmothers experience but was worried she may not have known what to do.
"I have. One of your professors had been drowning him in potions almost for a full day after I had met with the human. Every hour he came back with something else for him to take and instructed me to give him a drink of something every ten minutes to drink. His name was Crewel I believe. He was a nice man."
Queen Maleficia looked at Silver for a moment as if preparing for what would happen when he awoke before she placed the tip of her finger on Silver' forehead. It let off a small green glow and once it disappeared Silver opened his eyes. He gave a few confused blinks before looking up and seeing Malleus. Immediately he began to tear up as if he had been holding them back until Malleus awoke. The sobs soon followed and Silver covered his eyes as if trying to hide himself from Malleus. Or Malleus from himself.
Malleus tentatively reached out towards Silver and took him in his arms trying to shush him. He whispered soft and reassuring words trying to convince the child of man that everything was ok and would be ok as he gripped Malleus' shirt and sobbed into his chest. "I promise you he can't hurt you anymore. Mim can no longer harm you."
Malleus could see how his grandmother's face seemed to become filled with recognition before it turned to emotionless but with rage filled eyes. Silver on the other hand shook his head no. "I don' care if I'm hurt. I hurt you. I hurt you. I hurt you! I HURT YOU!" Silver's sobs became louder before they lowered into wet gasps with uneasy breathes that he barely took.
Malleus continued to try and calm him. He kept rubbing his back soothingly and rocking him slightly. He didn't wait long to grasp Silver's shoulders in a firm yet gentle grip and get Silver to look at him. "Silver listen to me please. I need you to try and calm yourself." Silver shook his head no his breathes only seeming to quicken when he looked at Malleus' face.
Malleus took Silver into his arms again and placed Silver's ear against his chest before slowly inhaling and letting out an exhale. "I promise I shalt not be mad if you listen to me. Follow my breathing child of man." Malleus continued to breathe in deeply before exhaling slowly. Silver seemed to try and follow Malleus' instructions after he said he wouldn't be mad.
It took some time before Silver was able to follow Malleus' breathing pattern but all the dragon fae did was continue to reassure Silver that he was doing well. "Are you calm now child?" Silver gave a slow nod refusing to speak. "If I may speak. Please do not be mad at yourself for something you could not control." Silver didn't respond but Malleus was sure that he didn't believe him. "You couldn't have done anything to prevent what happened." Silver kept glaring down at his lap. "I was nice to Mim. Shouldn't have done that. I was stupid."
"Whatever you could have changed wouldn't have stopped Manford child."
Silver and Malleus both looked at Queen Maeficia confused. The name was the one Lilia had spoken of before he left. The man he was hunting down for his final mission. "How do you know Mim's name? Did I say it? He told me I was gonna die if I said it." Silver's breathing picked up again. Malleus quickly took Silver in his arms hoping to keep him from panicking again. Queen Maleficia looked apologetic and patted Silver's shoulder.
Malleus couldn't tell how but it seemed she had lace the touch with magic. Silver seemed to calm once she did. "Whatever spell he bound you with is gone. I am more sue than anyone else can be in this world." Silver stared at her like he was trying to reveal all the truths in the world. "If your sure of that then tell me this…Am I bad cause of who my Daddy is?" Queen Maleficia looked at Silver intrigued.
"Tell me who was he." Silver looked to the side nervously and bit his lip. "Daddy's the one who killed Malleus's Mommy. He's the reason why Mim was mean. Papa hated him…I hate him." Queen Maleficia didn't react for a few moments. Malleus almost believed his grandmother wasn't breathing. It scared Malleus that she may lash out at Silver. "There are certain happenings that have gone about child that are in no way your doing child. They were 'his' doings."
Queen Maleficia carefully took Silver's face in her hands. "Do not hate yourself because you are related to someone who has done wrongs by those you care for. They are the doings of that person not you. If you do that you will only suffer more than you should. I cannot stop you from thinking otherwise but as a child try not to dwell in the past." The queen brushed a tear off of Silver's cheek as he nodded. "I'll try not to." Malleus knew that Silver may not fully understand what his grandmother said. But Malleus felt more peace from how Silver seemed to calm from Queen Maleficia's words than he had in weeks.
(You will have to rip the idea that Malleus didn't get his grandmother to warm up to Silver out of my soul before I let it go. Even though Malleus grandmother may not have been the best at being there for him he was still her grandson and she still cared about him. There's no proof that she was cold to Malleus or Sebek and Silver as far as I know.)

maybe im slow and this was obvious, but is Queen Maleficia actually based on Queen Elizabeth II?? By that I mean, she had deceased parents, lover, and now a daughter, her long lifespan despite several wars is akin to Queen Elizabeth's life too
I mean TWST is awfully british inspired, so I wouldnt be surprised that Yana will also incorporate the iconic Queen here, and Yana loves obvious British influeneces lol
Maybe when Queen Maleficia arrives in TWST, she'll be just like Queen Victoria (Black Butler) whose influences are quite obviously from Queen Victoria irl?? I hope she retains Queen Elizabeth's humor thoughh
