Ocean Jasper (Orbicular Jasper) is a very rare variety of Jasper that can only be found in Madagascar. This particular variety of Jasper is known for it's vibrant colors and distinctive orb-like patterns which are a result of Quartz (Feldspar) needle-like crystals that come together to create spherical structures. Ocean jasper comes in green, brown, blue, yellow, grey, white, pink, and red. The red Hughes derive from iron in the form of hematite, yellow and gray from Clay, and brown often from Geothite. The earliest history of Ocean Jasper is unknown. Although, deposits were first written about in Alfred LaCroix's "Mineralogy of Madagascar" and the earliest known examples of Ocean Jasper belonged to Richard Baldauf in Kambamby. The stone's rarity could arguably be a result of the harsh conditions of which it must be extracted. Ocean Jasper is mined from the base of a cliff, only accessed by boat during low tide. Because of this, the stone can only be collected by hand, as large mechanical digging equipment could not be used. The extraction of Ocean Jasper was stopped in 2006 when locality was deemed depleted as well as heightened safety risks. Sadly, only seven deposits have been found and most, if not all have been mined out. Jasper on the market today is either a back stock or has been hoarded by collectors and sellers for years.

Geography:
Great Kettering is based on the UK islands physical geography*. Great Kettering has slight weather changes with the seasons, primarily an increase in humidity and less rainfall in the summer months. Mostly known to be cold and wet overall. Tsunamis can happen along the coast to the south, and south-east. Earthquakes are small distant shakes from the far west. Droughts are rare and only in very dire situations. Lots of coastal towns are on the coast cliffs rather than the coast, and therefore are generally safe from the usual tsunamis that occur. Boat living... isn't uncommon yet dangerous depending on the time of year (hence the phrase, sturdy like GK's fishers). Earthquakes aren't an issue just noticeable along the west border. Great winters are prepared for a lot like Solistal does.
*but only when I feel like it lol
Architecture:
GK is a mix of my personal headcanons for orcs and fantasy England. The most common form of landmark is the stone/moss circles, each with their own pattern, like a fingerprint. Generally, only those born in the area will be familiar with these landmarks without a map. Because of this, the moss circles are speculated to be linked to the orc-ish Aeons religion. Kelp forests are a special sight along GK coasts. The most well known location in GK is the sunken castle, and its bridges to nowhere. One explanation is that the coastal cliff was washed away and the castle was too heavy so it fell into the ocean to be forgotten, another blames the mythological 'Thorns' for putting it their during one of their tantrums. For a foreigner, the knight tourneys are a highly anticipated event due to the invitation of both the highest king and lowest servant. Most towns start with a safe drinking water source in the middle, market and community buildings around that, then common dwellings around those. For Kettering, the capital, there are 'districts' that citizens must get permits to build inside. These districts help with deliveries, city planning, guard patrols, and lock down procedures. Again, most towns are situated along the south coast, and it's either the direct coast or, if the cliffs are too severe, then it'll be as high on a hill they can get while still in viewing distance of the sea. On the north side of Great Kettering, it still follows the idea of the highest hills. Including Kettering, which itself has a 'natural moat' around it, although the city surrounding the castle has since expanded further around the lake as well. In smaller towns, people are clumped together, tiny and people live in each others pockets, whereas bigger towns are more spacious. That said, construction is trending towards taller rather than wider. Common structures are in the easy to acquire and transport materials, where the elegant marbles and quartz are left for Kettering or other religious sites in other large towns.
Trade/Commerce:
GK trade away seafood for different 'exotic' foods and their artisans are highly sorted after. They import from Solistal for specialty materials to craft with. Kamikita holds a chokehold on trading routes and this frustrates GK. They import from Birkina for island herbs and spices, as well as dyes for their crafts. Can be self-sufficient if trades were to be suddenly cut. The world trade is currency based but smaller store keepers accept barters... if you can talk them into it. Solistal's ores/minerals and their jewelcrafters are flaunted as expensive goods and a highly requested import. Whereas 'seals' or magical coins are the least sought after. GK's embroiders are the most asked for export.

Birthstones: February💕
It's February, and this month's birthstone is amethyst. Let’s discuss its physical and metaphysical properties as we begin the month.
Amethyst
Citrine is a type of quartz, a mineral made of silicon dioxide (SiO₂). It is made when amethyst or smoky quartz are heated up in the Earth's crust. This heating, along with the iron present in its structure, causes the yellowish colour. Natural citrine is relatively rare; most citrine on the market is heat treated amethyst or smoky quartz. The easiest tell between the two is both colour and presentation: real citrine is rarely a deep orange, nor does it come on a stark white geode.
Historically, amethyst was used to recover from addictions and addictive relationships, earning the nickname "stone of sobriety." Amethyst is believed to relieve stress, promotes inner strength, and transmutes negative energy into love energy. Amethyst is associated with spiritual healing, calmness, and wisdom. It may aid in meditation, intuition, and psychic abilities. The stone is believed to enhance spiritual awareness and wisdom. Physically, it may help alleviate headaches, migraines, and eyestrain.
Amethyst shares the same hardness rating of 7 that all quartzes have, and due to a lack of cleavage, is hard to break. However, amethyst is famously sensitive to UV, and should be kept away from sunlight. Use warm, soapy water to clean amethysts.

#SO CLEAR QUARTZ IS—[cane yanks me off the stage]
i strangle the person holding the cane with my bare hands and push you back on stage "clear quartz is what. keep going keep saying things."
my ray of sunshine. beloved. you have just opened a Pandora's box of madness, i hope you're prepared ✨
SO CLEAR QUARTZ IS–also known as silicon dioxide (SiO2) and naturally grows in a crystalline structure, hence its common appearance in clusters & spiky growths (think about crystal caves & all their jagged edges!! sick af, huh?)
in the crystal & mineral world (hello fellow rock hounds), stones are given a numerical value on something called the Moh's Hardness Scale. clear quartz clocks in at a solid 7, which means it's impervious to water (so it's safe to submerge when making crystal elixirs) and also very, very hard to the touch. stones that rate below a 5 on the scale can actually be scratched & marked using quartz and can become toxic when exposed to water for long periods of time, depending on the stone!
in modern witchcraft, clear quartz is considered both an amplifying and neutralizing stone, depending on your intention. it's often added to rituals and altars to enhance the already present energies. kind of like a beacon to the spirit world, y'know? it's also used in divination practices and is the most common stone you'll find when purchasing or acquiring a pendulum.
quartz itself comes in many different colors, some natural and some artificial. whereas smoky quartz and rose quartz are naturally occurring and can be mined in caves around the world, stones like strawberry quartz and aura quartz are dyed, heated, or processed to give them their color and shine. pro tip: never pay more for an artificially treated stone than you would a natural one – 'tis a scam! (also if your citrine is super orange, it's been heat treated! natural citrine is much smokier and darker in color)
finally, because quartz is so hard but simultaneously easy to chip away at (given the proper tools) it's by far the best option when buying intricately carved pieces – including skulls! stones like malachite, bumblebee jasper, and calcite are incredibly soft and therefore take a steadier, more experienced hand to carve, so you'll usually wind up paying more! in this house we ball on a budget, so 90% of our carved stones are quartz-based. and they're amazing!
my love, i hope you've enjoyed enabling my infodumping. crystals are my life. so much so it's actually stupid. and i am dreading nothing more than having to transport all my rocks when it comes time to move. buy stock in bubble wrap now, people, 'cause i'm about to corner the market 😭
#hello and welcome back to crystal time with ray & macy 💎✨#i am. so sorry about this.#i have no self control#and too many factoids in my skull#i needed an outlet and you gave me one so i hope i didn't disappoint 😭#macy babbles#whatthebodygraspsnot#ALSO#have i ever mentioned that i owned an online crystal shop with my wife once upon a time?#or that i made & sold crystal jewelry/wire wrapped things?#no?#well now ya know asjdksk

Quartz Countertops 101: Common Questions & Expert Answers
Quartz is one of the most common materials for countertops. Since its introduction in 1960, this man-made marvel quickly gained popularity in the countertop market due to its exceptional durability and minimal maintenance needs. Ultra Quartz surfaces have been meeting homeowners' expectations for more than a decade now.
The wide range of trending quartz colors and patterns suit various design styles, from traditional to contemporary. Like any other material, quartz comes with a set of benefits and limitations. In this blog, we are giving honest answers to the most common questions asked by clients about quartz countertops.
What are the main benefits of quartz countertops?
Quartz offers a number of benefits. Its countertops are known for their durability. They are dense, non-porous, and chemically inactive. As a result, kitchen countertops are resistant to scratching, staining, and etching from domestic acidic products. These surfaces are so durable that no sealing is required. Furthermore, quartz surfaces can be manufactured into any color and pattern possible. All slabs look identical, allowing for a uniform look.
Are quartz countertops heat-resistant?
They are heat resistant to a certain degree. Quartz can withstand heat up to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, which underlines the need for using trivets or hot pads to avoid potential damage. The presence of resin in the quartz reacts in extreme temperatures, resulting in warping or discoloration. Also, sudden exposure to heat can cause cracking of the slab.
How do I clean and maintain quartz countertops?
Quartz slabs and tiles are super easy to clean. Daily cleaning can help preserve its beautiful appearance for a longer period. You can use mild soap, water, and a microfiber cloth for cleaning. Since quartz does not react with acid substances such as wine, coffee, vinegar, or lemon juice, and does not absorb liquids, the risk of etching and staining is relatively lower than natural stones. Therefore, incorporating quartz countertops into your kitchen can make the space more functional and user-friendly.
Are quartz countertops eco-friendly?
Despite being an engineered material, quartz is eco-friendly and suitable for families with children. These stones do not emit any harmful chemicals and last for a lifetime. Technological advancements have contributed to the adaptation of eco-friendly and conscious manufacturing processes. In addition, their impeccable durability reduces the need for frequent replacement or disposal.
Can quartz countertops be used outdoors?
Quartz can not withstand outdoor use for long. It is highly reactive to UV rays, leading to discoloration and warpage. Thus, prolonged exposure to the sun can affect the slab’s aesthetic and structural integrity. We do not recommend using this engineered stone for outdoor applications. Source link

What Is Brown Amethyst Stone
In the colorful world of gemstones, brown amethyst stands out with its unique color and mysterious aura, attracting the attention of numerous jewelry enthusiasts and collectors. As a relatively rare gemstone variety, brown amethyst not only possesses extremely high ornamental value but also carries rich cultural and historical connotations. Below, we will provide a detailed introduction to brown amethyst, covering its definition, characteristics, origins, identification methods, and market value.
Definition of Brown Amethyst
Brown amethyst, as the name suggests, is a type of amethyst that exhibits a brown hue. In gemology, amethyst belongs to the quartz family, with a chemical composition mainly of silicon dioxide (SiO2) and a crystal structure of the trigonal system. Brown amethyst forms its unique brown tone under natural conditions due to geological processes or changes in mineral composition, which alter the content and distribution of manganese ions in the amethyst.
Characteristics of Brown Amethyst
The characteristics of brown amethyst are mainly reflected in its color, transparency, luster, and hardness.
Color: Brown amethyst ranges in color from light brown to dark brown, sometimes presenting a mixture of purple or red hues. This unique color makes brown amethyst distinctive in the gemstone world.
Transparency: The transparency of brown amethyst varies among individual stones, with some exhibiting a translucent state while others are more transparent. The level of transparency directly affects the gemstone’s ornamental value and market value.
Luster: Brown amethyst typically has a gentle luster, exhibiting a glassy or greasy sheen. This luster allows brown amethyst to display a charming radiance under light.
Hardness: Brown amethyst has a hardness of 7, relatively high, making it resistant to scratching or abrasion in daily wear.
The Origins of Brown Amethyst
The formation of brown amethyst is closely related to geological processes and mineral composition. During geological processes, magma or hydrothermal fluids rich in silicon dioxide crystallize under appropriate temperatures and pressures, forming the primitive crystals of amethyst. In this process, the content and distribution of manganese ions have a significant impact on the color of the amethyst. When the manganese ion content is moderate and evenly distributed, the amethyst will exhibit a vibrant purple color; when the manganese ion content is too high or unevenly distributed, it may form brown or other colors of amethyst.
Identification Methods for Brown Amethyst
To identify the authenticity and quality of brown amethyst, one can start from the following aspects:
Observing Color: Genuine brown amethyst has a natural, even color with a certain depth. Dyed or synthetic brown amethyst may exhibit overly bright or uniform colors, lacking a natural feel.
Checking Transparency: The transparency of brown amethyst varies among individual stones but is usually not completely transparent. Excessively transparent or turbid brown amethyst may indicate issues.
Observing Luster: Brown amethyst typically has a gentle luster, exhibiting a glassy or greasy sheen. Brown amethyst with excessively dull or overly bright luster may be problematic.
Testing Hardness: Brown amethyst has a hardness of 7 and can be tested using a hardness tester. However, it should be noted that hardness testing may damage the gemstone, so it should be conducted under the guidance of professionals.
Using Professional Equipment: For difficult-to-judge brown amethyst, professional gemstone identification equipment such as UV lights or microscopes can be used for detection. These devices can help us more accurately determine the authenticity and quality of brown amethyst.
Market Value of Brown Amethyst
The market value of brown amethyst varies depending on factors such as color, transparency, size, and cutting craftsmanship. Generally, brown amethyst with vibrant colors, high transparency, moderate size, and exquisite cutting craftsmanship has higher market value.
Color: Color is an important factor affecting the market value of brown amethyst. Brown amethyst with vibrant and even colors is more popular and therefore commands higher prices.
Transparency: Highly transparent brown amethyst can better showcase its internal structure and brilliance, thus commanding higher prices.
Size: The size of a gemstone is usually directly proportional to its market value. Therefore, larger brown amethyst often has higher market value.
Cutting Craftsmanship: Exquisite cutting craftsmanship can maximize the beauty and brilliance of brown amethyst, thereby enhancing its market value.
Cultural Implications and Wearing Suggestions for Brown Amethyst
Brown amethyst not only possesses unique beauty and precious market value but also carries rich cultural and historical connotations. In many cultures, brown is regarded as a symbol of stability, maturity, and mystery. Therefore, brown amethyst is also considered a gemstone that can bring calmness, wisdom, and strength.
Conclusion

With decades of experience and a commitment to innovation, Sudarshan Group has become a name synonymous with quality and reliability in the mineral industry. In this article, we will explore the importance of quartz powder, its applications, and why Sudarshan Group stands out among quartz powder manufacturers.
What is Quartz Powder?
Quartz powder is derived from natural quartz, a mineral composed primarily of silicon dioxide (SiO2). It is abundant in the Earth’s crust and occurs in a variety of forms, including large crystals, sand, and finely ground powder. Quartz has exceptional hardness, chemical stability, and optical properties, making it ideal for use in multiple industrial applications.
The process of creating quartz powder typically involves mining quartz deposits, crushing the raw material, and then grinding it to the desired particle size. High-purity quartz powder, which has fewer impurities such as iron and other trace minerals, is often used in specialized applications, especially in electronics and high-tech industries.
Applications of Quartz Powder
Glass Manufacturing: One of the most well-known applications of quartz powder is in the glass industry. Quartz is a key ingredient in the production of glass, contributing to the material’s strength, transparency, and resistance to high temperatures. The silica content in quartz powder acts as a flux, lowering the melting point of the raw materials used in glassmaking. This allows for the production of various types of glass, including soda-lime glass, borosilicate glass, and specialty glass used in laboratory equipment and optics.
Ceramics: In the ceramics industry, quartz powder is used as a filler material to enhance the mechanical strength of the final product. It helps improve the thermal shock resistance and overall durability of ceramic items, making them suitable for use in high-temperature environments. The fine particle size of quartz powder also ensures a smooth surface finish for ceramics, contributing to their aesthetic appeal.

Construction: Quartz powder is widely used in the construction industry, particularly in the production of concrete and mortar. The addition of quartz powder improves the strength, durability, and weather resistance of these materials, making them ideal for building structures that need to withstand harsh environmental conditions. In addition, quartz is used in engineered stone products, such as countertops and flooring, which combine beauty with practicality.
Electronics: High-purity quartz powder plays a critical role in the electronics industry. It is used in the production of semiconductors, integrated circuits, and solar cells due to its excellent electrical insulation properties. Quartz also has piezoelectric properties, meaning it can generate an electrical charge when subjected to mechanical stress. This makes it an essential component in devices like oscillators, sensors, and watches.
Paints and Coatings: In the paints and coatings industry, quartz powder is used as a filler material to improve the durability, gloss, and resistance of paints. It helps create coatings that are resistant to chemicals, heat, and wear, making them suitable for use in harsh environments. Quartz powder also enhances the adhesion of paint to surfaces, ensuring a long-lasting finish.
Foundry and Refractory Applications: Quartz powder is used in foundries to create molds for casting metals. Its high melting point and resistance to thermal expansion make it ideal for producing molds that can withstand extreme temperatures. In refractory applications, quartz powder is used to create heat-resistant materials that are essential for lining furnaces, kilns, and other high-temperature processing equipment.

How to Stay on Budget During Your Summer Kitchen or Bath Renovation
Embarking on a kitchen or bath renovation project during the summer can be exciting yet daunting. The allure of a revamped space that reflects your style and enhances functionality is hard to resist. However, the cost of these renovations can quickly escalate if not carefully managed. Staying on budget is crucial to ensure the project is financially viable and manageable. Here are some strategies to help you stay on budget during your summer kitchen or bath renovation.
1. Plan Meticulously
The proper foundation of a successful renovation project is thorough planning. Begin by outlining your renovation goals. Determine which features are essential and which are optional. Create a detailed plan including design concepts for fixtures, such as Kohler smart toilets, materials, labor costs, and timelines. The more detailed your plan, the less likely you will encounter unexpected expenses.
2. Set a Realistic Budget
Establishing a realistic budget is crucial. Research the average costs of similar projects in your area to understand what to expect. Factor in all potential expenses, including labor, permits, materials, and a contingency fund for unexpected costs. Be honest about what you can afford and prioritize spending on areas that add the most value to your home.
3. Always Choose Quality
While it may be tempting to splurge on high-end materials and fixtures, balancing quality and cost is essential. Choose materials that offer durability and aesthetic appeal without breaking the bank. For example, instead of choosing expensive natural stone countertops, consider quartz or laminate, which can provide a similar look at a fraction of the cost.
4. Get Multiple Quotes
When hiring contractors, obtain quotes from at least three different professionals. This will give you a better idea of the market rate and help you avoid overpaying. Ensure that each quote includes a detailed breakdown of the costs so you can make an informed comparison. Don’t automatically choose the lowest bid; consider the contractor’s reputation and experience.
5. Be Flexible with Design
Flexibility in design can help you stay on budget. If your initial design plan exceeds your budget, be open to making adjustments. For instance, you might opt for semi-custom or stock cabinets instead of custom cabinetry. Similarly, you can achieve a high-end look with more affordable materials and fixtures by focusing on thoughtful design and creative solutions.
6. Shop Smart
Use sales, discounts, and wholesale stores to purchase materials and fixtures at lower prices. Look for clearance items or last season’s designs, which can offer significant savings without compromising style. Consider buying gently used or refurbished items from resale shops or online marketplaces.
7. Monitor Expenses Closely
Make sure to keep track of all expenses throughout the renovation process. Use a spreadsheet or budgeting app to monitor spending and compare it against your budget. Regularly reviewing your costs will help you identify where you might be overspending and allow you to make adjustments before it’s too late.
8. Plan for the Unexpected
Despite careful planning, unexpected costs can still arise. Allocate at least 10-15% of your budget for contingencies. This will provide a financial cushion for unforeseen expenses, such as hidden water damage or structural issues, ensuring your project stays on track even when surprises occur.
Following these strategies, you can successfully manage your summer kitchen or bath renovation project without exceeding your budget. The key is to plan meticulously, make informed decisions, visit a bath and kitchen showroom in Collegeville, and stay disciplined throughout the process. With careful budgeting, you can transform your space into a beautiful and functional area that enhances your home’s value and quality of life.

What Are the Pros and Cons of Granite Kitchen Countertops?
Granite kitchen countertops are popular among homeowners for their durability, natural beauty, and timeless appeal. However, granite, like all materials, has advantages and disadvantages.
Let's look at the pros and cons of granite countertops.
Pros of Granite Kitchen Countertops:
Exceptional Durability: Granite is one of the toughest natural stones, making it extremely resistant to heat, scratches, and stains. It can resist the rigors of daily kitchen use while retaining its attractiveness for years.
Unique Aesthetic: Each block of granite is unique, with naturally occurring patterns, colors, and veining. This variant allows homeowners to select a slab that suits their kitchen's decor and provides visual appeal.
Increased Home Value: Granite countertops are considered a high-end amenity that can boost a home's market value. They are highly valued by homeowners due to their longevity and aesthetic appeal.
Heat Resistance: Granite is heat-resistant, so hot pots and pans can be placed directly on its surface without causing harm. This makes it suitable for busy kitchens where cooking occurs frequently.
Low Maintenance: Once properly sealed, granite worktops require little maintenance. Routine washing with mild soap and water is typically enough to keep them looking good.
Cons of Granite Kitchen Countertops:
Requires Sealing: Granite is a porous material that requires frequent sealing to prevent stains and moisture absorption. Failure to maintain the seal might cause water marks and stains.
Heavy and Expensive: Granite countertops are hefty, which may necessitate additional support structures. Mining and manufacturing costs can make them more expensive than other countertop materials.
Limited Color Options: While granite comes in a variety of hues and designs, the options may be more limited than engineered quartz countertops, which can be personalized.
Susceptible to Cracking: Despite its durability, granite can crack if subjected to high pressure or impact. Take care not to drop large objects on the countertops.
Not Completely Uniform: Granite's inherent differences in color and design may not appeal to people who prefer a more uniform or constant look in their kitchen.
To summarize, granite kitchen countertops provide durability, beauty, and value, but they must be properly maintained and their particular attributes considered. Before deciding on granite for kitchen countertops, homeowners should consider the advantages and cons based on their lifestyle, budget, and aesthetic choices.
