Sign-ups Open on Oct 1st!

I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to announce we are about a week from opening the sign-ups for the Klance Pinefest!! But before you race off to start thinking about you’re new idea here’s some rules and guidelines for the challenge.

The Klance Pinefest is a traditional-style big bang event that pairs authors and artists to make some wonderful creations based upon the theme of pining!

Authors must write a 15k story in order to qualify and the story can in any canonverse, season or au. Sign ups will close in Mid-November and authors have until February to write.

Artists must create two pieces that go along with their assigned fic: one smaller header piece and one piece based on a scene from their assigned story. Pieces can be in either traditional or digital format. Claims will open in February and posting will occur in mid to late March.

All fics and art combos will also be feature on our sister blog @klancefanfictionvault to all of our followers!

Requirements for Participants

Authors

Authors will be required to write a minimum 15k story that is centred around both klance and pining between the pair. Pining can be, but is not limited to pining!lance, pining!keith, mutual pining, unrequited love, or missing each other while apart. The form of the pining is up to interpretation! Canonverse or au are both accepted!

There is no word count maximum

Authors are required to fulfil the periodic check points and respond to check-in by both the mods and their creation team.

All pieces should be beta read and edited properly. The Klance Pinefest will compile a list of available betas, but it is up to you to connect and work with one.

Authors will post their fic to the pinefest homepage along with a link to ao3 on their required post date. If you have issues with your assigned date, please contact us.

Artists

Artists will be required two complete two pieces of art to go along with their assigned fic. These pieces may be in traditional or digital style and be original to the artist.

Of these two pieces, one of which must be a header style piece that includes the title of the fic and credits to both the artist and the author. This piece will be used as an "advertisement" for the pic on final posting day.

The other piece can be pretty much anything you want as long as it is based on the assigned fic

Artists may claim multiple fics, but only after the initial round of claims

Photos, playlists and videos are not eligible for this event- if you have specific questions about mediums that quality please contact a mod.

Artists cannot talk about the fic they have been assigned to before the posting date-- no spoilers! We're all excited!

The first writing period for Chopped Madness has officially begun!! You will have 72 hours from now to write us a fic that centers around our Focus Character, complies with our theme, and includes BOTH of our chosen tropes!! Fics must be 5,000 words or less! We hope you’re ready to write!

Mods’ Review: I love that you stepped out of your comfort zone a little to write this fic! Octavia as Rapunzel!, whether she’s trapped under the floor or in a cave or up in a tall tower, you created a beautiful fairy tale image of her here! Making everyone Grounders and having O be a Nightblood was a clever canon-twist! Lincoln stole my heart! He was the one to give Octavia that bigger view of the world and belonging, both in canon and in your fic and I loved there time together so much. And Bellamy? Brother Knows Best...Whew—I think Octavia said it best that he loved her, selfishly, but it wasn’t real love. Such a bittersweet fic! -Sara

Mods’ Review: - As always, you never fail to amaze me with your writing. I loved the added detail of the ‘brides’ being kids from the drop ship, which is what leads Bellamy to go and become the next ‘bride’. I think that really fits with who he is as a character, and it worked so well for what the story was. Also, huge fan of the OG betrayal being Lexa and Costia falling in love behind Clarkes back (you know I’m such a sucker for Lostia in any form lol)! I think that added a lot of who Clarke’s character was, and why she did what she did. Wrong, and obvi very evil, but it was a great motivator, and it felt so realistic, because the idea that a betrayal of a more political kind would always happen is less likely than her assuming they’d fall in love with someone else instead! The story Bellamy tells her is so good too, I love that touch of canon added in, and the idea that he’d tell the skaikru story to a Grounder Commander makes so much sense, because its a story that she’d have no way of knowing! A perfect mix of canon + the fairy tale! Also, that ambiguous ending! SO GOOD! - Bailey
