12.) how well does your OC do in school?

Really bad….. it’s a combination of things why (school not accustoming to him (in part because of his parents refusing to put him in special needs), making him struggle with core curriculum) but his school performance, in comparison to his doctor brother, is one of the reasons long before BW proper he was already spiraling.

It’s not that he isn’t smart it’s just the courses weren’t suited for him.

14.) An embarrassing secret about your OC?

Hilbert compared him to a Pyukumuku a lot when he was a kid. He owns a few pyukumuku toys as a result that he has yet to get rid of .

GLAD YOU SEE MY VISION the Nate + Cheren friendship is very special to me, so I wanted to make Blightblur Nathaniel Blake and Cheren Slater have something important going on too. <3

22. When were they the most vulnerable with each other?

Nate showed vulnerability much earlier! Literally their first night at Castelia City; he was feeling particularly homesick, and in Cheren's Castelia condo, while Rosa and Hugh slept on his bed, Nate couldn't and saw Cheren by the balcony. He missed his mom and his bed terribly, and he stayed at the balcony with Cheren watching the night lights while he opened up his anxieties about his journey.

When he woke up that morning, he realized he fell asleep on the couch, with a blanket covering him. Cheren was already awake and cooking breakfast for all three of them.

As for Nate seeing Cheren be vulnerable around him..

Despite Nate already knowing of Cheren's relationship with Hilbert and why he insisted on following after the Aspertia trio, he doesn't really see how fully vulnerable Cheren is until Chargestone Cave; N's Zorua had just joined the party, and it wasn't fully respecting Nate as a trainer yet. However, Zorua knew Cheren as someone important to Hilbert- and thus, wanted to gain Cheren's affections. Unfortunately, Cheren has an understandably bad reaction to Zorua, especially since it belonged to N.

Yancy, who joined them temporarily, tricks Zorua into transforming into Hilbert- naturally, when Zorua!Hilbert shows itself to Cheren, it triggers a bad panic attack and he keeps spiraling until Hugh pulls Zorua and Yancy away- and begins suspecting them of something.

Not Cheren's proudest moment. He never wanted to show how badly Hilbert's abandonment affected him.

But when he calmed down, he was sitting somewhere with Nate by his side, pressed against him and hands clasped around his own to warm him.

Perhaps this was when Nate realized how much he loved him; it was a similar feeling from when he witnessed Purrloin getting stolen, and how Hugh fought tooth and nail to protect him, his sister, and his Oshawott. To be a hero is to have something to protect- and Nate fully understands that now. He doesn't need to be like Hilbert to be Cheren's hero.

Rewording this question to "describe how you envision your ideal friend"!

I don't really have an image for an "ideal" friend! The friends I have rn, and the friends I'll meet eventually- all will be very different. They'll have traits I admire, traits I peeve, and regardless, I'll like them!

I don't necessarily have uniform standards for those I befriend, with the exception that they at least meet the bare minimum of being a decent person- aka, not a bigot.

6.) what is the thing your oc likes the least about themselves?

His appearance. Ultimately he views what he’s done to himself as a good thing, taking pride in how “free” he’s become. But the way he views himself is very dehumanizing, on top of how people run away at the mere sight of him sometimes.

He reasons that once people see his way of thinking and more people open themselves to this it’ll all be ok. But given how he grew up being told the fact that he looked human made him loved. It kind of sucks.

22.) what is holding your OC back to achieve their goals?

What holds Ingram back is how much faith he puts in humans. In the end, he believes humans and pokemons to be inferior life forms on their own. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t put faith in them.

The quickest path to his goals would be to just. Do everything he does on his own. But he still asks for permission, he tries to treat people with decency. Part of it is because he knows him doing stuff on his own won’t win him any favors. But also it’s because he doesn’t want to lose what little company he has.

23.) what are your OC’s biggest flaws and biggest strengths?

This goes both ways for him honestly, but it’s genuinely his lack of morality and humanity. His lack of morality makes him comfortable with the idea of doing what others may consider as “dirty work.” His hands are already dirty. But his lack of morality makes people reject him and afraid of him. The only people that he really associates with are people who are looking to hire him for his research, given the uniqueness of the stuff he does.
