New AU: "Tai"ing it all Together

I wish Taiyang Xaio Long was better in canon. He has everything I love, single dad, handsome, slight himbo energy, yet he falls short because of his lack of interaction with his kids, Yang's mention of him being distant, and an overall lack of screen time. So, I'm going to write an AU where he has more importance to the story. Oh, there will also some Qrowdad (for Ruby specifically, but not in a way that makes Tai worse), Raven going out for milk and cigarettes and Ironwood being a stud. This is more lighthearted than my Reforming Bullies: AU, but it will have some drama. Will figure it out as I go.

🍎Dave's favorite character is Qrow: guy who cares deeply but acts nonchalant, fucking Sword, cool edgy aesthetic, he loves crows too. Guy who is trying hard but isnt perfect.

🍓Lyofya's favorite character is Ruby because she is full of hope and heart, she loves the rose aesthetic, though she's constantly waiting for Ruby to do something.

🍒Karkat's favorite character is Jaune because of how he is clearly the best leader even though he's the weakest (Jaune is the most shippable including the quadrant approach)

🍎Dave's favorite villain is Mercury because he's a similar vibe to Qrow, his favorite theory is Qrowdad. Oh not Qrow being Ruby's dad, Qrow being Mercury's dad. (he also is like. hm oh so he was traumatized by being raised to be a fighter. interesting)

🍓Lyofya's favorite villain is Neo, she loves the aesthetic and her fighting style immensely.

🍒Karkat's favorite villain is Adam (okay signless) because of his cool fights and also aesthetic.

What I'm thinking: red eyes are clearly an incompletely dominant trait because yang's are purple, a mix of raven's bright red and taiyang's blue but qrow's eyes are paler than his sister's implying that he has heterozygous genes for eye color like yang but with a netural color like gray OR SILVER so the question then becomes whether or not silver eyes are a dominant trait because if not then ruby would need to inherit a silver eye gene from her father in order to have -

What I say: it's just an AU, let people have fun

I think it's pretty intellectually bankrupt to think you can get away with blatant impersonation and slander using a low effort YouTube video made by a burner account; and creatively bankrupt to steal other peoples' work without credit and edit them shoddily.

Troy does not exist. Troy has no reason to impersonate me. You know who does? The obsessed Taiyang fan who's spent thousands on Tai commissions, to the extent of saying they want to saturate the fandom with pictures to sway CRWBY into treating it better.

The person who gets angry whenever the mere idea of Qrow x Summer or Qrowdad is brought up. The person who has a history of hating RWBY AUs and rewrites and will stop at nothing to defame or mock them. The person to whom multi-accounting is second nature and has no qualms pretending to be people they're not, so making a burner YouTube account is child's play to them. The person who's known to spend thousands of dollars on commissions so has no problems paying people to do work for them, like making fake screenshots and editing a video, even if it's such barebones effort that even a beginner with some determination and desperation could do it, i.e. themselves. In the words of another anon ask, "Why would I make a video on a channel when I literally have associates I can hire for that?"

Since when did canonseeker make videos involving the RWBY Fandom? And when did canonseeker have the ability to doctor images? You've always called him creatively and intellectually bankrupt, now suddenly he's able to do this? You know something is off. And its not the first time somebody pretended to be him. Who is Troy?

Canonseeker's actually made it clear for a while now that he had been wanting to make a video. While I'm pretty sure this Ask Me is just Canonseeker himself, in the 1% chance it's not, I'll try giving an answer as to how he made this video based on my experiences with video editing and image manipulation. If you're really not Canonseeker, I'd appreciate being messaged directly in Tumblr's chat instead of an Ask Me, because it makes verifying who is who much easier and differentiating between people who don't know about Canonseeker and people who do know. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. Moving onto the explanation! The quality of the video in question is something I could do in about 10 minutes in Vegas Pro 14. It's got two layers - Video and Audio. Video is where all of the images he used are uploaded to, while Audio is taken up solely by the music he picked. He starts the video with 8 seconds of blank screen (black) before it directly cuts to an edited version of SYTO's artwork. This image is the only one that lasts longer than 4 seconds that isn't the manufactured "conversation".

After this, each image he uses fades into the next one, and it isn't even timed properly to account for the dialogue that Canonseeker himself edited in since each image is on screen for the same amount of time, excluding the first and last one. What I think happened was that Canonseeker just dragged and dropped the images, overlaid them on top of each other in one layer, and called it a day. Their timestamps are too similar for this to not be the case.

After all the stolen art, the video directly cuts to a single, very vertical, image of the "conversation" between Canonseeker and CYTOseeker. This can be done quite easily. In Vegas Pro 14, you can click on an icon that brings up a timeline, set two points, and simply reposition the image so the video box is at different locations on the same image over a period of time. The program does all of the movement in between Point A and Point B for you. This can be done in under 30 seconds.

Once the nonsense passes by, it cuts to black again for about 7 seconds, but there's a flash frame at the end entirely in white. I'm not sure why this is the case, but it might be a piece of something else Canonseeker is working on, or just an image he forgot to slip in that he zoomed in way too far for.

The audio is the laziest bit about this. It's just music. No sound effects, no blending, no nothing. Dragged and dropped and that was that. This takes less than 3 seconds to do.

To answer on this "Troy" person, "Troy" is just a Canonseeker alt, considering the account was made yesterday and the video uploaded shortly after. "Troy" has never been mentioned or name dropped at any other point in the history of Canonseeker's shenanigans, so I really don't see why or how someone who is significant enough in Canonseeker's life would suddenly appear now of all times instead of several months ago when people were still unsure as to who or what Canonseeker was during all the callout posts.

Dose Yang know?

After looking into the Qrowdad theory- I’ve found Yang is commonly written out of the theory. Refered to as Ruby’s actual (unknown to her) Cusin but at heart her sister -end of story.

But- if this theory were to be true, would that really be the end of the story?

Or is there something deeper?

Dose Yang actually know that Ruby isn’t her sister but chooses to keep that to herself? If when Summer died Yang was old enough to understand and process that Raven was her biological mother, then unless Summer, Tai, and Qrow were lying from before Ruby was even born- Yang should know that Tai isn’t Ruby’s father, right?

The most popular opinion I’ve seen on this theory is that Qrow left after Summer died, so following that point of view little Yang would’ve had a lot of questions when all the sudden her cusin was calling her father “Dad”.

Anyway, just a small question that came to mind, feel free to discuss! I really want to know what others think of this.

I keep seeing “Qrow is Ruby’s father” Discourse so I wanted to submit my essay:

A lot of the people who don’t like it say they don’t because they like found family stories - but if Qrow were her father that would mean Ruby and Tai were found family. But their argument against the theory is still valid for the same reason that I really like the theory: Tai and Ruby’s relationship has no development. 

Ruby's had one conversation with Tai. One. THAT QROW. INTERRUPTED.

We've had three scenes that show the importance of Summer to Ruby: the Red Trailer, the beginning of Vol. 3, and the final memory in Vol. 6 that lets her trigger her eyes. I'm throwing the net a bit wide here, but Summer's dead, so that is a LOT of focus on their relationship! Does Ruby even really remember her?

Tai and Yang were the first memory Ruby tried to draw on to get her eyes to work. Yes! Good! Support for the canon! Other than that: he was present in the background for a few seconds when she visited Summer, and half a conversation that Qrow interrupted.

So Tai is canonically Ruby's father. But their relationship is so underdeveloped I'm not interested in it. I'm willing to believe Tai is Ruby's dad but I need to see them talk for more than 83 seconds. Yang and Qrow ALSO had only one conversation with just them, and they talked 56 seconds longer!

As for the parents’ relationships with each other, Phoenix has a lot more development than Rosedragon, but I’m willing to chalk that up to Raven still being alive and relevant to the plot. But boy I do love Hummingbird/Flown North and the delicious angsty idea of Qrow giving Ruby up to keep her safe from his Semblance because he blames it for Summer’s death. And the idea of Tai getting Summer pregnant about 14 months after Raven leaves is squicky to me - I mean, he still seems like he’s not over Raven

I will abandon the Qrowdad theory when canon develops Ruby and Tai’s relationship in ANY interesting way. So, probably the Vacuo arc? Unless Raven portals them to Atlas to help. Who knows. Miles and Kerry. They know.
