One of the reasons I love writing for AUs so much is being able to create crazy situations for characters that would never interact in canon.

Like, how else could I create a coherent storyline where Qrow and Merc bond over shitty childhoods and Qrow becomes Mercury's main role model.

How else am I gonna be able to make Oscar, Emerald, and Whitley a best friend trio that sticks together through their whole lives.

How else am I gonna get to create a situation in which Ozpin and Tyrian bond over being quirky, queer teachers working at the same school.

And these are all from one AU! AUs are beautiful and I love them.

so. has anyone else made the connection that Qrow and Raven are basically Dante and Vergil or am i the only one?

because like... a pair of estranged twins, one who is cold and wields a katana (who can open portals no less), the other who is easy-going and wields a broadsword and both have a secondary form they can transform into?

i can't be imagining this, right?

Since Raven was in that epilogue animatic shown at RTX, until proven otherwise I’m sticking with my little headcanon that when Raven heard about Atlas, she tried to portal to Yang and it didn’t work. And like, she will not admit she’s worried because like “blah blah the strong survive and the weak die, so if Yang wasn’t strong enough to survive she made her choice,” but she still secretly tries to open the portal once in a while. It never works, though, which almost definitely means Yang is dead.

(I have another rough headcanon that if Raven didn’t actually see Summer’s death and like ran away before it happened, maybe Raven trying to portal back only for the portal to not open is what told her Summer was gone)

Anyway one day when she’s alone a few months later she tries it again, just like out of habit, and wait, holy shit did the portal just open what the fuCK, hello???

That may be entirely off base tbh. Maybe Qrow found her and convinced her to come to Vacuo, or she already went to Vacuo on her own after learning about Atlas, or portalled to Qrow for intel and stuck around a bit, then she just spotted them while using bird mode to scope out the land or something. But the portal thing is just one of my favorite personal headcanons so I’m choosing to believe that until the show proves me wrong lol

(For Oz x Qrow in my RWBY AU)

For Oz, he Qrow's willingness to join the kids on their level. Playing stupid games with them, doing their activities with them, indulging their weird and imaginative ideas and conversations. Sometimes Qrow worries that he's being immature when he does it, but Oz finds it endearing. Once again, what Qrow thinks is a weakness, Oz sees as a strength.

For Qrow, it's probably just how much of a nerd Oz is, full stop. How much random shit he knows and how excited he gets talking and learning about history. He ends up finding interest in it himself, but he mostly just loves seeing Oz get excited for something he enjoys rather than getting excited for others.

This ask motivated me to write 204 words for Home is Where Your Light Shines Brightest.

Completely serious, I think Qrow's Beacon days should be exactly like Milo Murphy's Law. I think that'd be hilarious. I love the idea of him having to handle his luck ala Milo.

via @thesassiestcolor on my Would You Rather post about Qrow's semblance. I hope you don't mind me stealing your tags because I have been thinking about them for days.

It's got me thinking about the difference between Qrow and Clover's semblances. They're both basically probability manipulation, so what makes Qrow's "bad" and Clover's "good"?

Imagine Qrow growing up in the tribe. His semblance is discovered and they call it "luck" because what else would you call it? One small thing goes wrong and it becomes a common inside joke. "Looks like our little bad luck charm strikes again."

Suddenly, it's no longer neutral. It's negative. Every bad thing that happens is his fault. He can't escape the accusations. No one can teach him how to control it. He's just cursed to be a bad omen forever. And it eats away at him.

But what about Clover? We don't know much about him other than he grew up in Atlas (at least in the main show, I haven't dug around in the books and what not).

What if he was better off? His semblance gets discovered and everyone loves him. One small thing goes right and everyone starts saying he's lucky, the golden boy, the guy to beat.

Suddenly, everything feels easier. He's on top of the world, things falling into place for him seamlessly.

They both carry these mentalities into adulthood. The bad luck charm and the lucky stud.

Anyway, this is my headcanon now. Thank you, thesassiestcolor.

The idea that James Ironwood thinks so highly of him is still a little bit jarring. Part of Hazel doesn't know how to deal with it; it had been a long time since anyone had actually....cared about him, beyond his use as a tool. He hadn't realized what he'd been missing.

Thank you so much for all the OTP questions XD I wanted to answer this one first because it actually helped me figure out my plot problem 😆 I also loved this question in general!

(For Oz x Qrow in my RWBY AU)

For Qrow, he would not be able to see or hear or think about hot cocoa or certain types of sweets without thinking of Oz. He always thought it was cute and always knew Oz was around if he saw his mug sitting out, so that would hit hard if they ever broke up.

For Oz, he would miss his teasing and use of silly nicknames and such. Qrow calls Oz any variation of "King" or "Wizard" all the time, so much that it rubbed off and the kids now call him that, too, when they want to tease him. He usually doesn't mind and thinks it's funny, but if they broke up it would probably start to hurt.

(For my plot problem) The nickname thing jogged a memory of a name that Qrow uses exactly one (1) time, and I had completely forgotten about it until I tried to answer this question 😂 so thank you again for that haha

I mean everyone noticed that Diana in the JL RWBY movie is just Pyrrha, right? Like everyone noticed that they just made a new model and claimed it wasn't Pyrrha, but then gave her the exact same fucking character. The same emotional struggles. Largely the same way of speaking.

Like it's not even funny that the three chicks in the JL movie are reduced to caricatures of themselves based on badly stolen versions of fucking RWBY characters.

Like what the SHIT? Did they not READ A COMIC? Watch a TV show? God. I hate.
