Just Fangirling Again…

Remember when I said I don't usually do ships… and then went on a rant about why Wally Franks & Lacie Benton are my BATIM OTP? Strap in, friends, cause I've got another ship for ya. A platonic OTP from my dream crossover.

Dib Membrane from Invader Zim and Dipper Pines from Gravity Falls. Seriously, this would be absolutely perfect.

Two nerdy boys with no friends their age (like, sure, Dib has his fellow Swollen Eyeball agents and Dipper has Soos & Grunkle Ford, but school is just a hell of bullies) bond over their love of the supernatural.

Dipper: “See?? I told you! ENORMOUS, prehistoric alien spaceship buried under the town!! We can't go in right now, though, 'cause Grunkle Ford took those magnet things and there are still security drones--”

Dib (suddenly recovering from awed silence): “--Be right back, I'll get Tak's ship from my garage!”

Prof. Membrane: “There better not be any walking dead in there!”

Dib: “That was ONE TIME!!”

Dipper: “YOU TOO?!”

Mabel: “The ONE THING I told you NOT TO DO.”

Dib: “This one time, I cursed my sister with the ability to only taste pig products and had to clean a toilet for a pig demon with my head.”

Dipper: “I got bodysnatched by a triangle demon and had to possess a sock puppet to beg my sister for help.”

Dib: “…”

Dipper: “…”

<Each sheds a single tear of shared demon-&-sister-related trauma as Mabel & Gaz bond over Waddles & Bloaty's in the background>

Dib: “WHY DOES EVERYONE SAY MY HEAD IS BIG?! EVEN THE MONSTERS IN THAT NIGHTMARE REALM!!”

Dipper: “You know… Ever since I made those clones of myself, I've been kind of self-conscious about how big my head is…”

Dib: <Eyes sparkle with understood tears>

Dipper: “Also, if you wanna talk nightmare realms, you should've seen Mabel's prison bubble… Although, Dimension MAB-3L.”

Gaz: “Just get it yourselves!”

Dib & Dipper (in unison): “WITH THESE NOODLE ARMS?!”

They'd be such an inseparable duo that their families would just have to put up with each other.

Mabel would have repeated near-death experiences being a hugger & personification of sunshine around Gaz. But she survives because, as I mentioned before, piggies.

Gaz wears the skull sweater Mabel made her only when nobody's around; she gets caught once and never lives it down (although 99% of the teasing is NOT gonna be to her face).

Grunkle Ford would totally sock Prof. Membrane for saying he wishes Dib would pursue "real science" and then Grunkle Stan would join in because when else do you get to punch a legit cyborg and-- DON'T YOU TOUCH MY BROTHER, POINDEXTER WANNABE.

It would be an old man battle for the ages!

And then Dib would take that apprenticeship Dipper turned down and Ford would probably join the Swollen Eyeball.

And Mabel would 100% agressively flirt with Dib; maybe his best friend would end up his brother-in-law (they do say you're most likely to marry someone who reminds you of a family member-- and then with Dib needing someone who actually gives him proper affection… <Chef's kiss>)!

Dib would really just get a lot more love from the Pines family than he does the Membranes (although Enter the Florpus did catch me off-guard with their little asides of letting him know they do actually care about him in their own messed-up ways, that was surprisingly sweet) and c'mon my boy deserves the best.

Okay… This has devolved into me rambling about how this crossover AU would go into the remotely foreseeable future; I'm done, pft. There's the most wholesome and relatable platonic ship in human history. It seriously kind of reminds me of my relationship with my bestie, hahaha…
