Qibli, breathless: Wow... your eyes are like sapphires...
Qibli, looking away: Oh! Sorry. That's pretty corny though, isn't it?
Winter: No, not at all. I think anyone would like it.

hey so speaking of shipping things, I used to be a Qinter shipper but stopped bc I realized the fandom's interpretation of the playful teaser and the irritated dude wasn't that great. But now I've started shipping it again because I see it closer to your PoV: two guys who've been let down by the various parental figures in your life healing together. So, thank you :3 /silly
Honestly the pipeline from "I love Qinter <333" to "Qinter is honestly overrated and the dynamic is often portrayed in fandom spaces make it dry and dull as it is a gross oversimplification of their personalities" to "Qinter has the capabilities of being an incredibly impactful relationship when put into the right hands due to their traumas being so similar and their bond being a lot more complex than what the fandom would lead you to believe" to "I love Qinter <333" is very real

qinter is a hilarious ship to me and i am obsessed with the dynamic. and i am now going to talk aimlessly about qinter
im in love with them. guy who was raised in a strict social hierarchy that values etiquette and skill and was fucked up by the pressure to be perfect. and he always fell short, constantly reminded of his failures. so he overcompensates by acting superior whenever he can, constantly looking for things that make him better. but he wants so desperately to be acknowledged and appreciated and loved and accepted. and also his parents did try to sacrifice him to help his brother that did happen
and then guy who was basically raised in the shadiest area ever just left to figure shit out on his own on the streets when his mom would kick him out during the day. and he knew from all logic that his mother didnt really love him but would still try so hard to make her notice him, always trying to believe that deep down she loved him. and then he realizes she didnt and she never did and to her he was worth nothing. and he constantly tries to make himself likable, he tries to be kind and charming and always make himself liked.
they are both so similar and so different i want to put them in a blender and see what happens. i want them to bond over being thrown out by their family.
anyways their dynamic is soooo silly. guy who is cold and proper and guy who is silly and goofy will never not be a good dynamic to me what can i say im an akusai shipper ofc i love these two. theyre just two kids who have dealt with so much fucked up shit. i want them to hug. i dont think winter would be ready for romance honestly. but qibli probably is fine. anyways i dont mind qibli and moon being canon(?) (i think theyre canon) but qinter means so much to me. anyways this has been my late night rambling session of the day

Hi sorry it's Qinterposting time I love the Qinters I love the Qinters there so fucked up I love the Qinters.
The Qinters Guys, imagine seeing someone and noticing all the little cracks in there image. Not even out of curiosity, but out of fear. They did Not Like Each Other, Qibli did not Like Winter he was planning to kill him if he did something. Winter was suspicious of Qibli and Qibli the same but ultimately both parties realized that there first impressions of each other were horribly mangled purposeful and curated personas.
Qibli especially has a very purposeful and curated persona, but Winter basically lies to himself until he believes it. You can tell when you read Winter Turning that Winter actually has very different beliefs than what he and his mind tell everyone.
The best showcase is when earlier in the book he thinks about how his mom was the best Icewing mom but then a bit later when he's talking with Qibli about there parents and how his siblings would stab him with a spear and Winter mentions his parents would probably just note down all the things he did wrong, joining in on Qibli's mocking of his own family, then he immediately and very quickly says that that's what makes a good Icewing parent. There's a moment in time where we see Winter Stop Lying for a bit, and that's great.
Sorry for rambling about Winter, unfortunately for me everyday is Winterposting time. But it's also just lovely to see, the Qinters are Not Fucking Okay but damn they try there best to talk anyways. Every time they fuck up and argue and try to make up and talk again, every time Qibli makes a silly joke so Winter will feel better or when Winter gets better at noticing Qibli lying.
The way Qibli holds back a bit in there calmer moments or the way Winter lets himself go a bit with him. There comfortable with each other in a way I find really nice, I love it. Send me asks about them Now, I miss Them.

wait omg what are the canon endgame wof pairings you DON'T like? 👀 no pressure of course, im just not a fan of several of them either and im interested to hear what you think :]
honestly most of them?? like idk 😭
ripnami for one is just odd to me. like i don’t dislike riptide but there’s an age difference and a like, immediate love type thing, and the romance is just sorta Boring and Annoying imo?? maybe that’s just cuz im gay though
starflights whole debacle was ATROCIOUS. like i understand why he mightve had a crush on sunny— she was like one of the only other people he knew growing up— but they were all essentially adopted siblings and she obviously felt platonically towards him? and then fatespeaker was brought in, and one part of fans hated her for replacing sunny cuz they shipped sunnyflight, another group of fans hated her for obviously being practically written AS a sunny replacement, and then the last third just fiercely loved her out of spite. so like. starspeaker is Cute, sure, but it just feels like a weird work around to the supreme awkwardness of sunnyflight.
clay and peril? ehhh. clay seems like, SO aromantic to me, so that’s one reason i dont like it, and the other is just. peril as a character always felt like she was handled weirdly. like im not sure if she was a good concept poorly executed, or a bad concept that sort of followed itself through well, but either way my feelings on her constantly go back and forth. i get that she’s probably just like, genuinely mentally ill, but i don’t think the author really represented it too well? but at the same time, i don’t think i’m one to talk on the rep of people like that. (is sociopath the right word??? i literally don’t even know). basically it bothers me how she swings from like. yandere to hilarious older sister character. i love her, but i also feel weird about her. she’s like a girboss in a bad way.
glorybringer… okay theyre really cute, it’s just their development feels a little silly to me. then again, it’s a children’s book. also there’s an age difference, although idk how much that counts for dragons??
moonbli: i hate moonbli okay. they dumped qinter— one of the Only Well Developed Ships— for moonbli. ive ranted before about how much i hate the winter-qibli-moon love triangle, but GOD it’s so bad. like— in book six, moon is fascinated by both the boys. winter treats her like shit, but she can hear that in his thoughts he actually thinks she’s incredible. qibli is nice to her, but he’s like, super sus for some reason. moon actually TELLS DS that she doesn’t like either of them, but she Must pick one because her futures say so? like UM??? (she’s aromantic but denying herself or something) meanwhile in the winter pov book he’s absolutely tortured by guilt and his abusive family, so eventually he breaks off to find moon because he feels bad for treating her bad cuz he’s in love with her. also they have some Moments together. then in qiblis book, he’s also in love with moon, but spends the entire book bonding and flirting with his roommate winter! who is no longer an asshole now that he’s broken off from his family. moon is busy hanging out with some 2000 year old guy who attempted literal genocide, but it’s okay because he’s sad. anyway after like 200 pages of flirting, winter and qibli meet up with moon again and they’re happy because they’re both in love with her or something. except winter is upset because moon is defending the guy who tried to genocide his race and is going to do it again. moon and qibli decide this makes winter the biggest asshole in the entire world, abandon him, and then defeat DS together without him. then moon decides she “chooses” qibli and moonbli becomes canon and they leave winter in some random ass town. like? WHAT THE FUCK??? and we’re supposed to enjoy the moonbli ship :|
like no fuck off and PLEASE give us aromantic moon and mlm qinter please. THERE ARE NO CANON MLM RELATIONSHIPS. and im not just saying this cuz im a gay guy, like qinter legitimately had so much good development throughout arc two and then they get dropped like a hot potato
and then finally we have… whats left, turtlejou? i could take it or leave it ig. too much weird magic stuff there. i would actually maybe prefer turtle and peril just because they’re Actually Friends and their dynamic in book 8 was cool and way less creepy then cleril.
sundew and willow? they're cute but ive seen the mean lesbian and nice lesbian trope many times and they just didn’t pull it off too well. still better then 90% of the ships here though.
SORRY THIS GOT SO LONG I HAD A LOT MORE TO SAY THEN I REALIZED…. IF THIS SOUNDS AGGRESSIVE ITS AIMED AT THE AUTHOR NOT AT YOU ANON

root shadow? 🎉
These boys. Are so soft. And I adore them.
I just. They're so cute and their interactions are so much more natural than BristleRoot's . . . OKAY LEMME RANT ABOUT THIS FOR A SECOND, BristleRoot is definitely one of those "Love at first sight 😍" kinda things, at least on Rootpaw's side. It just doesn't seem natural, it just seems forced and jeurjsjdjx ugh. I would've loved to see Rootpaw slowly realizing his feelings for Bristlefrost, and honestly when it comes to ShadowRoot it kinda seems like that's the case. Rootpaw thinks about Shadowsight quite a lot actually in LS and TST it's cute! I was talking to my bf the other day and I said "I keep saying that I hate AlderNeedle and I always think that I'm just being stupid and that the only reason I dislike it is because it's straight but no you dumbass it's because it's forced. I'd be just as upset if a gay relationship was as forced as AlderNeedle is." And that's exactly how I feel about BristleRoot as well.
Back to ShadowRoot, it reminds me of Qinter (from WoF). It seems a bit more fleshed out and obvious, with Shadowpaw and Rootpaw both being seen as "weird little apprentices". Qinter still pisses me off TO THIS DAY because Qibli and Winter's relationship was so much more fleshed out than Qibli and Moon's relationship.
Anyway that was sort of off topic but what I mean to say is: it seems like ShadowRoot will be more fleshed out than BristleRoot and that pisses me off.
ANYWAY sorry dhwisjsggs for getting off topic. ShadowRoot is a really cute, soft ship as most medicine cat ships are (not saying Root is a med cat, it just seems as though ships involving med cats are always cuter even though it's forbidden 😂). It seems as though Rootspring has a crush on Shadowsight just as much as he has a crush on Bristlefrost. Root's got a big heart.
I can't decide if I see Root's crush on Shadow being once sided or not. It seems like Shadowsight is too busy to think about romance but I love the idea that he just. Can't get that silly SkyClan cat off his mind. Like he's sorting through herbs and his mind wonders to those soft blue eyes and his lovely smelling fur. He starts wondering what he smells like. Pine maybe? No, no, that's not it. Oak? Alder? Maybe just the forest in general. He smells like a warm, sunny- NOPE, that's enough Shadowsight, keep working. I LOVE IT.
They're just. So soft. I adore them. Sorry this was mostly me ranting about Qinter and BristleRoot 😂 I'm just tired of straight ships fucking over better gay ships tbh . . .
Also sorry i keep saying rootpaw i keep forgetting he's a warriorsbjwjxxn our bb's all grown up 🥺

1 - Character Everyone Gets Wrong
There's so sosos osososoo many but since I'm thinking about him, I'll say Qibli. Martin Blackwood also falls into that category, where in fanon versions of them they become the facade they put on, but since I assume more people that follow me are familiar with good ol' Q-Tip than British Guy from The Horrors, I'll point him out.
Blah blah blah, I already talked about him at length. His whole surface level personality is a mask he puts on to make people like him as he feels as though he has to put on a performance to make others like him. His wish for animus magic so that he can enchant everyone to like him comes from a deep-rooted desire to be genuine and true and not be worried about others hating him. Yada yada all that. I need to write more Qinter but right now I'm writing about silly murder men (who also people get wrong)(they get My Guy wrong a lot)(to the point where I refuse to read for the main fandom I write for cause it feels like my spinal cord is being torn from me whenever I read anything about The Guy that doesn't align with my exact thoughts 100%)

For the ask game: 1, 8, 10, 14, 23
Oh boy quite a lot. Let's do it.
1 - The Character Everyone Gets Wrong
For Wof no joke it's gotta be Qibli. So many people write him off as a goofy silly guy who thinks a lot and is really smart when honestly he's a massive overthinker with horrible social anxiety and uses a cocky and confident persona to a) cope and b) try to make friends. He's not a joke-spewing machine that can't read the room and stop when somebody is in distress.
For TF2 it's probably Saxton Hale. Yeah he's funny and cool, but he's not really a good boss like. at all. Not even a good person before the comics. He was characterized as a guy who liked hunting endangered animals and selling terrible and cheap weapons to keep the Gravel War going. It's 500% more funny when he's got jokes about how unions and workers rights are a nasty thorn in his side.
8 - Common Fandom Opinion Everyone is Wrong About
[Insert character] being a Mary Sue. Typically it's Glory or Moon. Glory is a victim of poor character writing and favouritism on Tui's part and Moon's entre character is reduced to a plot device. Those aren't Mary Sues but just poorly written characters in ways different than a Sue. Plus I also just Hate the term and would rather people like...elaborate more on what they say as opposed to using vague buzzwords.
For TF2 it's probably that Engie is boring, both in gameplay and lore. For starters, put on the Gunslinger and Rescue Ranger and stop turtling in the same spots every round. Secondly, Engie's personality is one of the most fascinating due to it kinda being a little cover up. Not even to mention his whole family. So cool and interesting....
10 - Worst Part of Fanon
Hmmmm,,,flanderization is always terrible. I hate it especially with Qinter stuff since a good chunk of it horribly misses the mark of who Qibli and Winter (and even by extension Moon) are and what makes them click. Their whole this is that they have a persona and I feel Qinter as a whole should be based on them putting aside their exaggerated personalities and finding solidarity and comfort within being around each other as their pure selves. This and also the infantalization of characters like Whiteout. All my homes hate that.
Same thing can be said for TF2. Me and my homies hate Nazi Medic. Medic likes his coworkers, he just is a bit silly like that.
14 - One Thing you See in Fics all the Time
For WoF, it's gotta be swearing. I literally don't know why it kinda irks me, but it feels weird when you're writing something serious and straight-forward while the dragon characters say the fuck word. Nothing against it, I just...I dunno.
For TF2 it's always the goddamn shoe-horned in racism/queerphobia. Please man I don't need you to get up on your soap box and tell me that the 60s wasn't good for queers and people of colour I'm trying to read Old Man Yaoi. It's especially annoying when certain characters (ex: Soldier) only exist to really fulfill the role of being the person who make it "period accurate" by including 12 extremely harmful and horrible slurs in every sentence they speak.
23 - Ship You've Unwillingly Come Around To
For WoF: Cleril somehow. The "Cleril is good :)" -> "Peril is toxic and this relationship will never work" -> "Cleril is good :)" pipeline is real. Peril HAS been getting help and is vastly improving. She is doing so incredibly well. She uses Clay as a moral compass, but she's aware of that and trying to change. It's not that bad of a ship ngl.
For TF2: Jagerbombs (Demo/Medic). I'm God's strongest aro/ace Medic enjoyer so I like them best as friends, but honestly they're just great together. Literally written up like 19k words of these morons. Never would've thought in a million years I'd do it (especially considering how I'm the No. 4 Science Party person ever) but they're just wonderful. Honestly like them better than HeavyMed– *gets shot*
