Here’s my artwork for the @wipbigbang! I got to work with the lovely Prince_kun ( @nie-huaisangs-inner-thoughts) on the awesome fic Platonic Romances, Emotional Affairs, and Other Remedies. Follow Qin Su on her journey from girlhood to womanhood and motherhood, oh, and her platonic marriage with Lan Wangji. (Plus a romance of her own down the line!)

In a hilarious twist of fate, I had pitched the starting concept as an adoptable AU. I’m so glad this idea found a good home, and I’m very excited about the end result. I hope you’ll check out the fic on ao3!

Summary

Wei Wuxian is dead…and Qin Su is alive for now. After finding out Jin Guangyao’s schemes, she makes a run for it all the while knowing she’s unlucky to be carrying his unborn son. Yet, luck strikes her way when Hanguang-jun saves her and her unborn son from a fated death through marriage. The only catch in all of this is that, if her husband’s true love returns, she must allow there to be a mutual parting.

With so much on the line, maybe a mutual parting will be harder than she thinks. And yet maybe not if her heart is also swaying for someone else at the same time.

There's something so beautifully tragic about how the wens and wei wuxian made a home out of one of the burial mounds, some place that was previously considered unlivable. How they struggled and fought and made it into a place of love, hard won and well deserved. The tragic part is that the ones who fought the hardest to live and persist, who found family and joy in the most hopeless of conditions were wiped out because of greed. That no amount of sheer will could've kept them there, in the place they unconventionally called a home, they tried and they failed through no fault of their own.

#important to me that mu qing did steal that gold foil tho #the point isn’t that he never did anything wrong but that one lapse in judgement could’ve cost him everything #xie lian didn’t notice or care that the foil was missing but mq was terrified that he would be dismissed or punished #even though he was a child who thought he could do something to help his mom #it’s not that he never had a bad thought or action because he did #but the stakes were just vastly different for him #and no one around him is willing to cut him a break. ever #that being said: despite his reputation he is one of very very few gods with an actually clean record (via @taihua)

#see the thing about mu qing is that because he always sees and presumes the worst in everybody #and thinks everybody hates him (negative traits for sure) #is that everything he does he does with no expectation of reward or making things better for himself he assumes he'll be punished attacked #or ignored for it right? #but he still does it which means he's doing it because he thinks he should and that #is great and op you explained that all so well great post op (via @pbaintthetb)

#He's such a great 'good is not nice' kind of character #and it's a pity so many people stick to the surface level reading where he just comes off as a dick #'surface impressions are misleading' is a big theme in MXTX's work and yet... (via @octarina)

The thing about Mu Qing is that a lot of the time we see him, he doesn't have much but he offers all he has and beyond.

All he had were the few cherries he picked at the cost of being beaten and humiliated and called a thief (as the only poor disciple among many rich kids who could have bought those cherries any time they wanted) to give to his mother and yet when the poor children surrounded him he gave those cherries to them.

He had a cursed shackle and yet he was the only one who offered to accompany Xie Lian, Hua Cheng & and Mei Nianqing to Mt. Tonglu. (even though Jun Wu had told him that his friends would assume that he was a traitor and leave him to die and MNQ & Hua Cheng obviously hated him and he thought that XL & FX hated him, too.) He not only had a cursed shackle but burnt hands and feet and injured legs and yet he threw himself in the lava to fight and buy time for XL. He could barely walk but attacked Jun Wu head-on with his Zhanmaodo. The shackle tightened around his hand and it was draining his blood and his spiritual powers were sealed and his injuries and burns weren't healing and he was dangling from a freaking cliff and his hair had nearly touched the lava and yet! Right when MNQ wanted to help him up he asked him to send him further down so he could retrieve XL's sword for him!!

When XL had just saved Mu Qing and Bai Wuxiang dragged him down Ruoye, which earlier was explained wouldn't do pointless things (and when asked by XL to grab onto something firm and reliable grabbed onto FX & MQ after HC) made a lunge for Mu Qing, because it knew that Mu Qing would grab it and maybe could do something to save Xie Lian. And Mu Qing, having just been saved, balancing on a sword on burnt legs in the middle of running lava grabbed onto Ruoye with burnt hands and didn't let go even when he was overpowered and dragged along with Xie Lian.

And for all of these, he never expects anything in return! No gratitude, no credit, no friendship, and no affection. He just does these things because that's the kind of person he is.

He's the kind of person who refuses to recruit child soldiers, he's the kind of person who sees a random lady going through forced abortion and tries to save her and the baby, he's the kind of person who even when he's chased out of the house by a broom by his friends, leaves the rice he brought with them, he's the kind of person who even if he assumes XL threw the clock on him & pretended not to know him on purpose disguises himself and goes to XL's help, he's the kind of person who tries to save FX even when he has a cursed shackle, he's the kind of person who not only doesn't abandon his friends under Jun Wu's threats but goes after them knowing that at every step Jun Wu will try to frame him and as far as he knows, his friends don't trust him or like him and he doesn't even think they're friends. he's the kind of person who couldn't bring himself to steal one golden leaf from the prince who had hundreds of them in the depths of his poverty to help his mother yet doesn't blame XL for trying to steal that one time because he understands, he's the kind of person who claims that "truly, there's no point in being a good person" but still helps every time everywhere he can. He's the one who when he can't do anything, when he's lost his attacking powers after going for Jun Wu all he can think about is XL who is grabbed by Jun Wu and calls out for XL to run even as he throws up blood. He's the god who when he ascends what we hear of his followers are: "General Xuan Zhen is generous and kind!"

Just...Mu Qing and his unfailing kindness!

The only thing I remember is that Wei Wuxian designed a tool for Jiang Yanli, possibly a hairpin or other headpiece, that utilized her energy so that she slowed down or froze fierce corpses. I don't remember what fic 16 is exactly, but I know the scene OP is talking about and have extended info! The reason Wwx was making a spell to summon swords was initially to retrieve Su She's sword from the waterborne abyss, and it was later used to retrieve some of the swords for everyone trapped in the xuanwu cave! Was this also the fic wwx created barriers for all of the sects as some kind of reparation?? It was definitely not a time travel fic, but inventor wwx fic

I don't recall if #16 sword summoning talisman is part of the turtle shield inventor WWX one, but as I also can't recall the title/author, here's more details on the turtle shield inventor one: I'm pretty sure it's madam yu/JC critical, WWX gets named Turtle Lord or something for his shields, LZ gave WWX the special jade he needed to make the shield and then Madam Yu ordered him to give it to JC. I think LZ gave his CR token to WWX so he could create another shield...

no that's definitely a different fic I remember turtle shield fic much more clearly and it didn't have that. I meant barriers to protect the Sect strongholds, using a series of nodes at points using the sects' insignia as a map/blueprint, not individual shields for a person

I’m looking for a WIP, abo, royalty au fic where the main pairing was lsz/jl with background emperor!lwj/empress!wwx. the summary was that o!jin ling had been warned away by jc from the royal fam his entire life bc of empress!wwx’s supposed role in jyl’s death, but, when he goes to the capital, meets and starts falling in love with a!prince!lan sizhui (to his own displeasure). in one scene, jl is going through his heat, lsz smells him and drops his sword running away. wwx and lwj had three kids, and one of the later chapters revealed that wwx was pregnant again. i’m pretty sure it’s been deleted/hidden bc it doesn’t come up in any of the relevant tags, but I’d be deeply grateful if someone has a link to it on the way back machine or something similar. thank you for your help!

20. For fic finder: It was set in canon era, WangXian. Golden cores were literal orb-like jewels that could be cut out of a cultivator’s chest, thus creating the opportunity for an illegal poaching trade. There was a scene where Wen Chao gleefully cut out Jiang Cheng’s, and I think he also took Wuxian’s. During the Sunshot Campaign when JC and LWJ get their swords back they also find the room of stolen cores, and are shocked to find WWX’s. Anyone know this one? Please!

I thinkkkkk 'Entertainment' might allude to the themes of hedonism that Dream of the Red Chamber has. If we take the sanity regen of his EGO in a more plot wise sense, I think he's lying to himself and others, and, as he's done a few times in story, distracting people.

As for Don since you are a Don guy, her character promo does have her calling someone a villain, though it's vague who. Perhaps 'Righteous Retribution' refers to what happened at the carnival? Oh, and fuel for the Sancho Don theory, her EGO is the lowest roller out of everyone's, like there just isn't anything there that really makes that EGO firm and real. That's my thoughts anyways.

This actually funny because I saw a lot of theories about Outis EGO being fake, and yet Don Quixote's makes more sense if you think about it(being weak, and her not having Pride to fuel it. IN EVERY OF HER ID. But I guess Qinq Don does wear blue so there is a chance to get a first Pride skill for her. Or maybe it will be gloom with madness and depression)

She again showed herself as a more capable liar than grandma.

Her passive can tell about Carnival, but the problem we know next to nothing about it, so it's difficult to theorize around it. It also intresting that someone forcibly silence her in this trailer...

Okay Hong Lu using hedonism as a way to lie to himself is actually intresting of we remember that his core sin is Lust...

7. What is your deepest joy about writing?

Talking to people. The running joke is that I write and publish things to lure poor, unsuspecting souls into talking to me 😂 But joking aside, I think I enjoy writing itself a lot, it relaxes me and helps me de-stress, at the same time, it keeps my braincells engaged - 'does this setting work?' 'would this character do this?' 'is this the right word?' It's constant enrichment for Marrons.

22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?

Eeeeeeeee... I use no tools? I am a mess, truly.

Like I am pretty much freestyling when I write. I usually do talk the ideas through with friends, to see if they are as cool as I think they are, and very oftenI get pointers on how to make certain things work better, or how x is similar to y so 'maybe something else here?'. I am a pack animal, so I like to talk about ideas and to submit them to 'peer review' so to say.

I usually have to have the ending figured out before I start writing though - I have to have a clear goal in mind towards which the plot is heading.

I write longer, plotty things in tandem with Ascel and our notes are much more detailed and full of memes and random scribbles we cannot decipher later. We also run a doc with 'AGENDA' of ideas to write together, with all the plot points we came up with, so this is the serious business.

24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?

Prep work? You are giving me too much credit here, I am afraid, I just sit down and write, usually with a designated playlist playing. Unless we are talking about research, then there are two modes:

Shanghai - in this case, it is common that I first finish a book about 1930s Shanghai and then realize 'ooooh, you can make a fic out of this!' and boom, there it happens. I try not to come off as a manic academic in my notes, so I refrain from citing exactly which book inspired which part of the story, but if it takes place in Shanghai then I can trace the inspiration pretty well 😅

Random research that happens in the middle of the story and takes up half of the day. My favourite bits of such random research are: texting Ascel 'can they have cars????' in the Mummy au without any preamble, so that it sounded like I was talking about my siblings (yes, they can historically have cars. My siblings also can have cars, in case you were wondering), me doing research into the history of lollipops to check if ZYL can have those (Mummy au again) and ending up buried deep in articles about victorian medicine available in stores, and me looking up the maps of different palaces and chinese houses for dragon!SW au for literally one scene to work. One second I am finishing a sentence, the next it's 2 hours later and I have a lot of useless knowledge about idk, Qinq dynasty palace rooftops, you know how this goes... I enjoy it quite a lot.

Taipei Fashion Week recently returned for its sixth year, providing a platform for both emerging and established Taiwanese designers. The event began with an opening show titled “CrossLab: Dialogue Between Traditional Performance, Craftsmanship, and Fashion,” followed by a Sustainable Collections group show later in the week. Overall, the Fall Winter 2023 season featured collections by 11 fashion brands and three “new breed” designers, offering a diverse range of styles and themes.
