In the grand scheme of things, when one considers its owners, the modern house that occupies a suspiciously quiet hillside of the densely populated city really isn’t overly impressive... but, then, that's never been the point.

It's difficult, when one's spent their entire life as a deeply principled mortal, to consider the possibilities of being anything else; two centuries into forever, a former captain begins to wonder if he can ever be truly happy as a being so very far from human.

Hi! I've signed up as a writer, but I have a small doubt about what the 7th August deadline means. When you say "drafts" does it mean that one must submit a document with the whole story written down, even if maybe not corrected and stuff? Or is it supposed to be a summary + an outline of everything the story will contain (example: a list of all the scenes with a description or similar)?

Hello there! Thank you for asking, this is pretty important!

By draft I mean whatever you’ve written so far. You don’t have to write the whole story! It can even be a summary. If you’re writing a long story, or perhaps something that is atmospheric, then it would be nice to include an outline or a description as well. Keep in mind that this “draft” is meant for the artists: they’re going to base their art on it. We have to give them something to work with.

Here are some examples:

Let’s say you’re writing a plot-driven story. “Picard is stranded on a deserted planet. To his annoyance, Q is also there, claiming that the Continuum has once more stripped him of his powers and banished him. They must learn to trust each other in order to survive on a hostile planet.” →  This summary is enough. We gave the artist a setting, the overall mood and the direction your story might take. 

Now what if you’re writing something a bit more abstract? “Q and Picard discuss the afterlife.” →  The artist probably needs a little more than just the general concept that you’re going to explore. Perhaps add a time and place, a scene or two, even just a few lines of dialogue, so that your artist knows a bit more about your story. Where are they having this discussion? Are they in a relationship? Are they fighting? When is this happening? 

Just keep in mind that the draft/summary you’ll be submitting on the 7th will only be seen by the artists. It’s for them to base their work on.
