simple guide to torrenting

hi everyone! i firmly believe that pirating media is good and cool, but a lot of people don’t know how to torrent. it’s actually super super easy!

step 1: get a torrent client

i highly recommend qbittorrent, which you can download here. this allows you to use torrent files to download media.

step 2: get a vpn (technically optional but recommended)

vpns disguise your ip address so your internet service provider can’t see it. i personally use setupvpn, a chrome extension, but you can use any vpn (either desktop or browser ones). connect to any country and you’re good. just turn the vpn on when you start torrenting and turn it off when the download’s complete.

step 3: find some stuff to pirate

here are a few popular torrenting sites and what they’re for:

piratebay (basically everything, movies tv games etc)

nyaa.si (anime and other japanese media)

libgen (anything readable-- books, comics, academic shit)

there’s tons but i’m able to find pretty much everything i need on these 3. go to any of these sites and search up a thing you wanna download.

btw most anime episodes from nyaa come in .mkv format rather than .mp4 and i recommend vlc for playing them (download vlc here), way better than whatever default bs windows or mac comes with

step 4: what does all the stuff on the screen mean

here’s an example of what you get if you search for spirited away on nyaa and piratebay.

here are the parts that are actually important:

the magnet symbols you see on the right side of the link column on nyaa and under the file name on piratebay are your download links. click these to get your torrent client to start downloading.

the seeds column (the one with the up arrow and green numbers on nyaa and the one labelled “SE” on piratebay) shows you how many computers are seeding the file (hosting it so you can download it.) the more seeds, the faster your download will be. no seeds = no download. nyaa sorts by date by default and piratebay sorts by seed by default.

here is what my qbittorrent looks like right now:

when you click the magnet link, qbit will automatically start torrenting. when the progress bar reaches 100, it will automatically start seeding. if you don’t want to seed, just right-click an entry and hit “pause” and it will change to “completed”. the finished files will appear in your downloads folder by default. when you’re done with something, right click it and press delete.

that’s it

get qbit, get a vpn, press the magnet button, you’re good. that’s literally it. no more subscriptions to a billion different streaming services, no more overpriced textbooks, no more shitty illicit streaming sites with 10 thousand ads, just quick easy free (and ad-free) torrenting!

While, due to the Superposition and Quantum Entanglement phenomenon, the one Qbit can store 2 numbers of information, and 2 Qbits can store 4 numbers of information, and it keeps doubling as we keep adding more and more Qbits. So, 10 Qbit can store 1024 numbers, 11 Qbit will double the number to 2048, and if we have 100 Qbit the numbers it contains will reach up to 1,267,650,600,228,299,401,496,703,205,376. Ahh! I can not even read that number, that is the level of power it provides us. How close we are from achieving Quantum Computing Technology?
