I just rewatched BBC Atlantis and I’d forgotten how good it was? So I have three things to say:

1. Way to cancel the show right having canon gays, guys (but at least there were gays? As a Merlin fan, this is an improvement, so I don’t know whether to be happy or not)

2. I think I’m going to murder BBC for cancelling it (joking for legal reasons, but seriously what the fuck)

3. There had better be so much Pythagorus/Icarus fic on AO3. I mean so much.

Okay so I have been here before, having a 2 frame clip that made me go insane and its for a pairing that isn’t even popular (and I have no idea why because they’re canon but the show was cancelled even though s2 was way better and it had found its feet and yeah I’m still bitter)   They’re Icarus and Pythagoras from BBC Atlantis (pythacarus is the ship name and man I miss my blog for them I accidentally deleted it years ago because I’m a dumbass)

Here’s a vid of a few I made on this pairing for anyone interested (and because they deserve so much more love and attention than they get...the pairing not my mediocre vids lol)

Their love story was so well done, it had angst and romance and slow burn and was beautifully understated and just *there*. And before we even got to their story in the 2nd season we had a 2 second gif of a forehead touch in the trailer that just inspired us all so much and we wrote fanfic and had headcanons all over this small scene where we had zero context (and at that point it wasn’t absolutely clarified that it was gonna be a love story) but later the actors just kept releasing tidbits which all built it up and finally, watching their love story unfold and become canon (as they kissed) is a night I’ll never forget asfghjk

I mean they had dialogue like “You mean everything to me” “May the Gods be with you” They counted the stars from a rooftop together, they were SO SOFT with each other (and the actors both liked my tweet I sent them about how beautiful their portrayal was) 

and it was just so special and now I’m feeling it all over again with the kiss between Aziraphale and Crowley, my heart and imagination is running wild (and I’m an angst queen so would like a little bit of delicious angst) And I can’t stop thinking about how Crowley PULLS HIM IN and Aziraphale has his eyes closed and I’m just HFBGDSHFVGADSHFGA

So yeah I need all the fics and headcanons I can get about this leak and what everyone thinks will happen because I cannot wait until July!

Ok i need to go insane about an almost forgotten TV show for a bit

Its BBC's Atlantis, If you know it im in love with you kissing you on the lips. if you dont, let me convert you.

Heavy spoiler warning if you care abt that, but its only 2 series, watch it this afternoon and come back :D

First for all my Trekkie pals, Alexander Siddig is in it, he plays King Minos. beareded, a wife guy, kinda a dilf. pop off.

Secnd, this is again playing to those who care about Actors and Celebs- ANYA TALOR-JOY plays Cassandra. Yes, a young Taylor-joy playing the casiical Cassandra. the prophet noone beleves. shes fucking amazing (duh) but you have to stick aroung till S2.

Ok and now moving on to the actuall show, our mc is a himbo 'real worlder' Jason (Of the Argonaut) sent back in time to the ancinet city of Atlantis. He then, runs naked across a beach, steals some clothes from fishermen, fights a two headed dragon, is chased by Palace Gards, and meets Pythogoras

"The triangle guy" yes. the one from first year maths. and his Roommate Herculease.

this all (and more, lots more) happen whithin the first 10 mins of the first epp.

If you are thinking about Merlin in this, i dont blame you. It is a blantet Merlin profit chaser and had a lot of the same people work on it.

BUT

IT HAS A CANNON GAY RELATION SHIP

those of you who care about mythology stop reading now (if you havnt allready) beacuse the ship is Pythogoras and Icarus.

Even as im wrighting i cant beleve what im saying, BUT IT IS.

Icarus son od Deadalus, is young, dumb and SO sad and Gay for PYTHAGORAS the maths guy. It is the friends th=o lovers, betrayal to love, story arc that you dare not beleve is cannot BUT IS (in the very last epp., BUT THATS MORE THAN YOU MERLIN BITCHES GOT)

Im gonna come back to this post (not that anyone is gonna read it) when i think of more to say but this show is INSANE and i love it watch it NOW NOW NOW

forever thinking abt pythagoras x icarus on bbc atlantis. like canon gay couple on the bbc in 2013 but it's pythagoras, real historical (fictionalised) Greek philosopher and mathematician pythagoras (of the pythagorean theorem) and icarus??? of Greek myth?????? like yes obviously that's iconic but that's literally unhinged

like from conception to script to on-screen development, including a dramatic (incredibly homo-erotically charged) betrayal mini-arc, reconciliation and eventual kiss?? between these two men in 2013 which is so beautiful and important but like. the STEPS? the timeline ?!

imagine watching a show about victorian england and then charles dickens has an on-screen romance with like. robin hood. am i making sense here is this anything .

You know whats sad, that BBC Atlantis season 2 had one of the most beautiful, understated CANON romantic love stories between two men and no one EVER talks about it.

I loved Pythagoras and Icarus I had a whole ass blog here for them (until I accidentally deleted it asdfghjkl) and the way they were written and developed was so natural, so real that it’s one of the best couples I have seen on TV. I don’t like rep that is forced or just done for the sake of it because tbh I find that insulting for everyone. But when it’s true to the show and characters and it’s just there, which it was for Pythagoras and Icarus, then that has far more impact imo.

Ok! But the heartbreaking scene where you can tell that Icarus is going in for a kiss, after everything has been revealed, because there are so many feelings between them. And then he’s pushed away by Pythagorus. Heartbreaking. Very Adrian/Deran “I want us to be ok”

DAMNIT.

Pythagoras’s “you would have seen me die. i mean nothing to you” literally has the same defeated, heartbroken vibes Adrian in their last scene. And Icarus not being able to deny his betrayal but so so so desperate to try and fix it.

That’s a tough one! Probably Connor/Cutter (Primeval), and the person who really made me love that pairing was Telperion15 and her huge long running Connor/Cutter fic series.

3. A PAIRING YOU USED TO LOVE, BUT IT ALL FELL APART FOR YOU.

Probably the obvious one is Connor/Abby in Primeval. I really disliked what canon did with that relationship in series 4 and 5, to the point where I kind of gave up on it. Also, I have still never forgiven that show for having them get together *offscreen* in between the end of series 3 and the beginning of series 4. WTF, show??!!

4.  HAVE YOU ADDED ANYTHING CRACKY/HILARIOUS TO YOUR FANDOM, IF SO, WHAT.

There’s a few fairly cracky Atlantis wallpapers, such as the one with Pyth/Jason mpreg (Jason is the one who is pregnant, I’d like to note). And the one with the Pyth/Jason sex pollen accidental aphrodisiac wallpaper.

5.  WHAT’S THE LONGEST YOU’VE EVER BEEN IN A FANDOM

Almost certainly Primeval. We are currently celebrating ten years of the show, and the fandom is still going, even though the show ended in 2012.

There isn’t one. For me, the show always come first, and then I go *looking* for the fandom.

I really liked what they did with Ariadne in series 2 of Atlantis. In series 1 she was a bit wet most of the time, and had *no* survival instinct when it came to baiting Pasiphae. But in series 2 she really took responsibility and stepped up and became a hero along with the boys.

9.  NAME THREE THINGS YOU WISH YOU SAW MORE OR IN YOUR MAIN FANDOM (OR A FANDOM OF CHOICE)

Hercules/Pythagoras pairing! I know most people’s reaction to that pairing is, “Ewwww!”, but I love it. All the wonderful, sarcastic, supportive, bickering, but genuinely affectionate, *funny*, old-married-couple-comedy-double-act thing they had going on, especially in series 1. I think there’s about three or four fics, and maybe a couple of fanarts for this pairing. And half of them are by me.

Oh, hang, I have to think of *three* things for this question? Um...

Okay, I’d also like to see more *realistic* post-series 2 Pythagoras/Icarus fics, where they take time and struggle to reconcile and forgive and trust again after what Icarus did. Much as I want them to ultimately have a happy ending, there are so many fics where it’s just magically better and forgiven straight away, and I think Pythagoras would take longer to properly deal with it and sort out how he feels after what they went through.

I’d also love to see more fics exploring the friendship between Pythagoras and Ariadne, and how that might have developed in a series 2/post series 2 setting.

I don’t think I have any headcanons that could be described as ‘scandalous’.

Pythagoras is is the top in Pyth/Icarus. I’m pretty certain that Icarus is actually the more sexually experienced of the two, and I’m also certain that in any other pairing - such as Pyth/Jason or Pyth/Hercules - Pyth would be the bottom. But with Icarus he is the more dominant of the two, and and that’s exactly how Icarus *wants* it. That said, they do switch occasionally, because Pyth is bound to be curious.

There are so many people that I have have become properly friends with in real life who I met through fandom. There are are so many sfi-fi cons, and theatre trips to see ‘some actor off the telly’ that I have done because of fandom. And even the friends who geography dictates I will never actually meet in person, if we have chatted online on a comments post, or on tumblr, or even got as far as e-mailing each other, then we are just as much friends as the people who I now know in RL. Fandom is a wonderful thing when it brings people together to squee about common interests.
