Great Pyramid of Giza: to the bottom center can be seen the original smooth white limestone which would have originally completely covered the inner darker stepped blocks. The inner blocks were quarried in the Giza area while the while higher quality limestone was quarried up river at Tura and had to be transported via the Nile to the pyramid’s location.

Pyramid of Khufu | The Initial and Largest Among the Trio of Pyramids

Pyramid of Khufu: Delve into the widely recognized Great Pyramid of Giza, renowned for its towering height of 146 meters above ground. As the first and largest of the trio on the Giza plateau, it was finished around 2560 BC and held the title of the world's tallest structure for over 3,800 years.

"Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass and the country's Minister for Tourism Ahmed Eissa, announced the discovery Thursday at an unveiling ceremony outside the pyramid. The Scan Pyramids project, an international program that uses scans to look at unexplored sections of the ancient structure, was credited for the find.

Scientists from the project — which began in 2015 — attended the unveiling.

According to Christian Grosse, Professor of Non-destructive Testing at the Technical University of Munich and a leading member of the project, various scanning techniques were deployed to locate the chamber, including ultrasound measurements and ground penetrating radars. He hopes these techniques will lead to further findings within the pyramid."

This is a story from 2020, but I don't remember reading about it then. 'Course, I AM getting older... Still fascinating. The fact that they've only found 3 objects within Khufu's pyramid tells you how good the tomb robbers were and how often they went back for every tiny thing.
