You are my sunshine.
Send me “You are my sunshine” for my muse’s reaction to yours dying in their arms
Gentle hands found themselves gently holding sunken blue cheeks. Disease didn’t end at Earthlife. No, it was a foul word that plagued the cosmos. A cruel reminder from nature that no matter how strong she was, that nature was always stronger. Always crueler. Always the winner.
“It’s okay,” she tells her, her voice soft; weighed with the implications of her words. She knew the blue gem strived to be strong. To be there for her, to be in control of herself. But this was different. Death from the inside out couldn’t be controlled with mere level headedness.
Maroon eyes clouded with tears that never to end. An endless stream of guilt and fear that plagued her. The had first realized the blue gem was ill months ago, mid movie night, when Garnet seemed to just crumple. Passed off as a mere accident. It was okay, Sapphire insisted. A lapse of concentration.
A lapse of concentration that linger into days, which lingered into weeks. It was a rare disease that preferred fused gems. Attempting to alter their physical chemistry to make the fusion permanent. Being fused too long was dangerous, you begin to lose yourself; to mutate.
“You can let go,” the red gem explains; the words just barely making it pass the hiccups that butchered her speech. Seven months, two weeks, and six days is a long time to suffer. They didn’t have a cure here. They were mere rejects from a society that had long but forgotten them. And as much as it hurt her to say, Sapphire wasn’t going to make it through this. It was time for her to stop being selfish, to let her partner pass without fear of letting her down.
Strong hands brushed withered locks away from the blue gem’s eye. Her body shifting to press a long, slow kiss to her eyelid. “I love you.” And as she pulls back, she sees one final smile form on her partner’s lips. Weak and withered, but happy. And just like that, she’s gone. Physical form disappearing, and blue gem tumbling to fill the space where she once was; rolling into the dent of the couch, before dimming.
Tears filled to the brim of her eyes, as she reaches to scoop pick up the gem. Raising the hollowed stone to her lips, that felt so hopelessly light in her hands, to give it one last final kiss. “I love you, Sapphire.”

❛ Oh -- hey. ❜
He hedges carefully, arms drawing close to his sides and voice dim and cautious. A ginger smile crosses his lips, hopeful but still somewhat wary.
❛ So, the temple’s not frosty. Does that mean -- I thought, uh, --... everything’s okay, right? ❜

If Garnet was ever certain of one thing, it was that she was never alone. And that one thing was usually enough. Some nights, though, her arms ached to hold another gem and her own waist just didn’t cut it. Sometimes, though she was made of love, loneliness tainted her edges. Nights like that, like this, she unfused, and two little gems found themselves nestled together in a bed that was now much too big.
Ruby blinked at Sapphire, smiling once she realized where she was. “Hey.”

Hoe Don't Do It.
16.Playing a game of chicken with cars
“I’ve got this.” Jasper wasn’t sure why she was doing this, exactly, but it was less painstakingly boring than doing nothing. She waited before bolting out into the road, planning on only just missing being hit by the truck.
Instead, the truck hit her, the horn of it sounding loudly, while Jasper just had to wait until it managed to brake.
She got up pretty quickly, limping, but with a sense of urgency in her eyes, she shouted to the other. “Fucking run this asshole is pissed off!”

The gem was sitting at the edge of the cliff, legs dangling as she stared down at the unclear, foggy bottom. She wouldn’t jump - she never could - but that doesn’t mean she didn’t want to. It would give her time away, at least. If she were lucky it would break her gem. She was a ruby. Now that wasn’t particularly good or bad, but she was the broken among them. She didn’t have patience, or self-control. She had a temper and an attitude, and hated following orders. This made her unlikable to most other gems, being a race of order. Finally she looked up as the sun started going down, a sigh passing through her lips. She didn’t have any place to go, no, but it was smarter not to be near the cliff by the time the sun fell. The gem stood up and moved away, heading to the tree not far from the cliff and resting against it. ❝I’m useless...❞ Ruby groaned at the thought of her days spent trying to fit in. Eventually she gave out and just stopped caring, but the words of others still hurt. Freak, Uncontrollable, Dangerous. It was true...
