As most of you know by now:

Steven Universe has been placed onto a hiatus, ending on an unannounced date in September.

This means we’ll have all of August without a new Steven Universe episode.

So I figured I would take the liberty to come up with an idea to keep the fandom stirring with a fun event to bridge us to the new episode.

And the idea I came up with?

MONTH OF GUITAR DAD!

An entire month dedicated to the appreciation of Greg, Mr. Universe himself. An appreciation month for the man who without him, Steven wouldn’t be around. The human that touched the heart of a Gem, lives out of a van, cooperated with the Gems to build a house, and pays for all his sons expenses. The man deserves a bit of love, so let’s give him the chance.

(Reminder: This is in no way putting down other characters, or saying Greg is in any way more important than anyone of the rest of the main cast. I just felt like making a character appreciation event, and felt like he was an optimal choice. This is simply for fun.)

WITH THAT BEING SAID, and out of the way…I’ll answer a few questions some of you may have.

What is it that should be done for the event?

Answer:

Fan Art, GIF Sets, Fanfictions, Edits, AMVs, etc. As long as it pertains to Greg Universe, it is accepted.

How do we submit our works?

Answer:

One of two options, either submit it through our submit page. Or simply tag your post with the tag, #MOGD. If you submit your work, we’ll post it promptly. If you put it in the tag, we’ll reblog your post. Simple as that.

Can we submit NSFW works?

Answer:

No, but feel free to make NSFW works to celebrate regardless. Just don’t submit them to us, as one of our admins is not fond of NSFW Steven Universe art, and it makes her uncomfortable so please, be respectful of that, which means no submitting anything NSFW.

When does this start? How long does it last for?

Answer:

The event starts on the 10th of August (8/10/15) and runs until the 10th of September (9/10/15).

Okay I just love how…cuddly the Gems have gotten with Steven

I feel like in a lot of the earlier episodes, we see Steven being left to his own devices in the house while the Gems go on mission or go back into their rooms. But they’ve slowly been getting closer–less mentor and more family.

We’ve moved from Steven spending most of the time wandering the boardwalk, making himself food, or watching tv alone to shots of stuff like

and it makes me so happy.

    Still, he quickly finds his smile when Sadie drifts into his      periphery -- though picking his head up from the table      in the shop might take a little more effort.

                                    His dreams are turbulent. 

For days, they are a fragmented mess -- crashing storms, avalanches,  flight and falling and breaking through ice. He can’t remember them, not  entirely when he wakes; the only thing that remains is the buzzing fear that  he’s reaching, reaching, reaching but can’t make any contact with something  that’s falling apart -- 

And then he’s drowning. But he’s not. 

                  I know what this is. 

It’s been a while -- he’d thought that he’d lost the connection entirely. But  he’s certain, he’s sure --

     He’s quiet and cautious, biting his lip as he hovers on the edge of       the room. The fear is there, dull but present ( my fault? be careful )       but he forges on ahead. 

❛ D’you -- uh, can you help me -- bake something? Connie sent me this    cookie recipe and I wanted to try --... but I’m not really good at that    kind of stuff and you are and... ❜

      He hedges carefully, arms drawing close to his sides and        voice dim and cautious. A ginger smile crosses his lips,        hopeful but still somewhat wary.
