Happy monday everyone! Weekly update

No bite club this past week but my trainer, J, invited me to go up on saturday with him to help a couple of his friends train their competition dogs. The friends of his are "vendors" which in the working dog community means that they buy, breed, train and sell dogs to law enforcement for patrol or detection work. They also train a few personal dogs for ring and apparently have been quite successful. I don't know if I want to go into specifics, but their way of training; although it gets results, is not how I like to work my dog. I did take the opportunity though to have him play tug with the kid and do a bit of bite development which went well. Regardless of what I say about his training methods, his bitework is clean. A little conflict on rhe bite but this is a new person and a new place and I'm not particularly worried about it. J worked his DOH which is looking better by the day.

Also! I asked around in one of the disc groups and someone sent me a set of pvybe jam cards! I'm so happy! Most of these tricks are out of our skill level but a couple friends and I are going to start doing disc meetups to practice routines.

All in all a fun weekend.

I'm heading to Montana for a week for PVybe camp and I have no idea how many bags to bring. I just hope Tesla's system settles down by then

Pawsitive Vybe is a dog training studio run by Ron Watson and Apryl Lea. They are most well known for their disc dog training (the sport of playing Frisbee with dogs) but also help regular pet owners train and communicate with their dogs through positive reinforcement. A few things that make PVybe unique are their early use and incorporation of internet technology to reach students all over the world, their “Bed and Breakfast” where students can live and bring their own dogs to PVybe HQ and have weekend intensive and immersive training sessions, their YouTube dog training and lifestyle webseries, and all their very generous and free training information that they post on their blog.  While many dog training classes are geared towards getting dogs to comply with what their owners want them to do, at PVybe, Ron and Apryl focus on teaching humans to be better trainers and get into the nitty-gritty of learning theory so that the handler has a better understanding of how to communicate with their dog and how to have fun learning alongside their dog in the process.
