so Peggy has some lumps under her skin. we noticed them on Tuesday night, there's two of them close together on her hip. called the vet this morning and they got her in at 2pm and took a biopsy and they'll call me back either Saturday or Monday with what's going on, they won't speculate or anything, but I did the very unwise pet parent thing and took to Google and based on everything I can find it is most likely fibrosarcoma which is a difficult to treat cancer and also expensive bc it involves surgery and continuous radiation/chemotherapy for several months and frankly I don't care how much it costs I will go into all the debt for this cat, I have a 9k limit on CareCredit and am unafraid to max it out + my other credit cards it's not even the money that bothers me, but if I'm right about what it is the prognosis isn't great for long term health and that is going to break me. She's my baby, she's only 7, she was literally the only thing keeping me from going off the deep end at some points in college, she's supposed to meet the kids I want to have in a few years, she's been here for most of my adult life and I will absolutely lose my sanity if I lose her anytime in the next few years. she has to make it to 10, ideally she'd be around for another 10 years past that but I'm realistic, I know 12 is perfectly reasonable so that's what the goal has always been, I literally can't do this without her. and my partners love her SO. MUCH. Peyton dotes on her, he's only been around for 5 of those years but he is so so in love with this cat, she is our baby, I would be lost without her so uhh if this turns out to be what I am afraid it is, don't be surprised if long form rant text posts become more common here bc I will absolutely lose more than a shred of my sanity.

I know I didn't put it off substantially and I really trust this vet they've been great but I could HEAR her as they were trying to numb and biopsy the spots she was so angry at them and once they shaved the area it looks SO much bigger than we could feel, like we knew there was one spot but were iffy on a second one and you can see them so clearly now they're big and slightly discolored and I am afraid. thankfully she hasn't been acting any different like she was literally having zoomies this morning but the idea of not having her zooming around makes me want to crawl into a bog and be preserved for a thousand years okay

Break out for the ps1 was made in 3D but its was still the basic break out with some different game playstyle to spice up the game play. Every so often you unlock pegs which have there own abilities.

Peggle has the break idea but you have to break orange pegs to win but you only have a limited amount of ball ( unless you get it in the moving pot. There are also characters that have there own abilities.

(Different Anon) Mario Party's at it's best when RNG is still present, but it's not the only defining factor of the game. For the best games is 33% Skill, 30% Strategy, and 30% RNG, combining into a cocktail of Chaos with 4 players. It's why Mario Party 1 isn't very good. Boards that take away Agency, no items, little control over your fate RNG has about an 85% chokehold over your game. Anyone can be a winner, but those who are better at the game tend to place better.

To me, you're just describing the magic sweet spot a lot of the best "games of chance" try to hit. Like, the thing I think about a lot with regards to this is Peggle.

The goal of Peggle is to shoot a ball at the top of the well and have it land in the tub at the bottom. The tub is constantly sweeping back and forth, so even if you have a clear shot, it can be hard to land in the tub. When you factor in all the pegs you bounce off of, it's almost impossible to accurately predict where your ball will land once it gets to the bottom.

But that's sort of the point. You have a clear picture of the first few bounces, and after that the estimates only get more and more vague. It's this mixture of chance and skill that allowed the game to take the world by storm in the early-to-mid 2000's. (It's also why Peggle 2 was such a massive botch by EA, because they took one of the most successful and fun games of its era and destroyed it making it an early example of games being f2p nightmares).

Or, like, Nanaca Crash, right. That game's been on my mind. There's a strategy to that game, but the strategy revolves around gameplay elements that are purely random. You cannot predict the patterns you will get, but you can work with and around them.

This is also why Mario Kart games can make me so angry. The worst Mario Kart games are the ones that lean heavily on items that take out multiple racers at the same time. Mario Kart Wii was the worst about this -- you had the POW Block, the Blooper, the Lightning Bolt. You could be in 1st place and somebody in 7th place who can't even see you can launch a successful attack against you that they never even benefit from. You didn't do anything wrong, you can't do anything to guard yourself, you just have to put up with the random number generator deciding you get slapped around.

RNG is a very useful tool to making games engaging but too much can ruin everything. It doesn't surprise me that there are "good" Mario Party games and "bad" ones with too much RNG. I imagine it probably ebbs and flows a lot like Mario Kart and Smash Bros. in that regard.
