GIFTED // @thelayersaustralia does a variety of Nyonya Kuih (娘惹糕/娘惹粿) boxes available to order and pickup on Sundays from Fuku Sushi, East Perth. They also do catering (refer to last pic). Last week we had the “Kuih Box 22.0”($32): - 4 x Kuih Talam - 4 x Ang Ku Kuih (mung bean filings) - 4 x Pulut Kaya (served with homemade kaya jam) - 2 x Corn Custard Kuih - 2 x Puteri Ayu My favourites were the Kuih Talam and Puteri Ayu. Kuih Talam was so fragrant and tasted strongly of pandan and coconut layers - these were as good as the ones back home in Penang & Singapore. Connie had kindly let me try two of the Puteri Ayu as personally I’m not a huge fan of corn. The Pulut Kaya (blue and white one) was paired with their homemade Kaya jam which tasted strongly of Gula Melaka. Brought these to a family dinner and my relatives were very impressed; commenting that these were the best Nyonya kuihs they’ve had so far in Perth and asked for their phone and catering details coz they don’t use social media. Thanks so much Sithu and Connie for gifting me these! Unexpected surprise as I had messaged them to order but they kindly gifted these to me.
