Just after graduating from St Martins and planning my move to Paris I was contacted by Olivier Zahm from an incredible Magazine years ahead of its time called PURPLE PROSE - I’d met Olivier and Elein at the June Exhibition at @thaddaeusropac some time earlier. They were planning a Fashion Edition of their Magazine, featuring 5 photographers and 5 designers. Anders Edström was going to take photos of my work . .. The Groundhog Day. This photo-essay is about how isolation impacts people in different ways during the pandemic. Anxiety with bits of surrealism and madness. The feeling of physical and emotional isolation. Tension, depression, alcoholism, domestic conflicts and violence, the morbid obsession for the virus news and detachment from reality. The hoarding run for: toilet paper, wine, tinned food and hand sanitiser. The hysteria of ones waiting for the worse and those who believe in their alienation that nothing is really happen, this is just an economical plot. In between there will be those confused about the present and insecure about the future, but, nevertheless, trying to carry on with their life routines in the new confined reality. - Maybe wearing colourful clothes or party outfits might help to cheer the mood up, isn’t it?
