It all started when your boyfriend called out for you and then stood at the edge of the pool with an open wide towel. It was summer and not cold at all, but you thought it was cute, so you just let Seungcheol wrap you up with the soft fabric.
“What's up, babe?” You asked softly, giving him a quick kiss.
“Nothing, I just wanted you to get out of there.”
You frowned with confusion, your boyfriend shooting deadly stares at every single person out there.
“What? Why?”
When you unwrapped the towel from you to use it to dry your hair, Seungcheol took it and covered you again, impatiently wrapping the towel around your body.
“Cheol…?” You started.
“Why did you have to wear such a tiny bikini?”
“Excuse me?!” You chuckled, towel resting on top of your shoulders. “I was swimming, Seungcheol.”
“But you could be wearing shorts or something,” he argued. “And don't call me Seungcheol.”
Your boyfriend had always been protective over all, but not actually jealous. Most of the time, he just trusted the fact he was a black belt in taekwondo and was training jiu-jitsu if someone ever approached you. Okay, he always had something to say about you wearing revealing or short clothing, but most of the time you just ignored it.
“You wanted me to wear shorts to the pool?”
“Yeah, what's so shocking about it?”
Your boyfriend sighed with frustration, eyebrows furrowed as he ran his hand through his hair, damp from his previous dive. He looked like a sin, exposed chest and swim shorts hanging low from his hips.
“You're just saying anything,” you scoffed, giving him back the towel. “I'm getting a drink.”
“No, I think you should dress up.”
You had just turned your back to walk towards the house, but turned back around after hearing those words.
“What?”
“It's too small,” he said as if it was obvious. “Put on some shorts or change for another bikini.”
“You've got to be fucking kidding me,” you chuckled.
Walking inside the house your boyfriend and his friends rented to spend summer, you went to the kitchen, finding a shirtless Seokmin chopping something by the sink.
“Hey, are you hungry?” He asked as you opened the fridge. “Mingyu is grilling meat. I'm preparing a salad.”
He proudly showed you a bowl full of perfectly chopped lettuce and spinach, thinly sliced cucumbers and purple onions, a wide smile on his face as you popped a soda can.
“Great job,” you gave him a thumbs up. “Should I be scared that you're this good with a knife?”
Seokmin laughed, loud as usual, making you laugh along with him as you stood by his side to watch him cut up something else.
“What's so funny?”
Seungcheol's voice made you sigh, and as he walked inside the kitchen, Seokmin's smile slowly faded as soon as he saw the older man's expression. You turned around to stare at your boyfriend, leaning against the kitchen's sink.
“Seokmin was just talking about his salad,” you said.
“And you're shitting your pants from that?”
“Cheol, we're not gonna do this,” you said firmly. “If you have a problem, say it out loud like an adult.”
“I just said and you turned your back at me,” he argued.
“No, you—”
“Guys,” Seokmin said softly.
“You never listen to me anyway,” Seungcheol shrugged.
“I'll listen if you stop talking nonsense.”
“Nonsense?!” He stepped closer to you, staring into your eyes. “You think it's nonsense?”
“Cheol—”
“Shut up, Seokmin,” he gave his friend a deadly stare. “It's none of your business.”
“Don't talk to him like that,” you said, frowning. “God, what's gotten into you today?!”
“I'll talk to people however the fuck I want.”
Seungcheol was standing just a few inches away from you, eyes fiercely staring into yours.
“Okay, but he doesn't have anything to do with this—”
“Why are you defending him anyways?” Seungcheol got even closer, lips now inches away from yours. “I bet you're getting off from knowing everyone here wants to fuck you, right?”
Your jaw dropped, and you weren't sure if you wanted to cry or punch your boyfriend in the face.
“Dude, what are you saying?” Seokmin was just as shocked as you. “I would never— No one here would ever look at your girlfriend that way.”
“Oh, miss me with the bullshit,” Seungcheol stepped away, turning his back.
Knowing him pretty well, stepping away meant he was trying not to lose his temper.
“I'm actually offended that you think of me that way,” Seokmin said.
“Ignore it, he's just being insane,” you told your friend, turning back to the sink. “Go back to your salad.”
“I'm being insane?” Seungcheol said, sarcastic smile on his face. “Then why is he popping jokes every five minutes to get your attention? It's not the first time today.”
“That's just who I am?” Seokmin said with confusion. “If you don't want anyone here to talk to your girlfriend then you shouldn't have invited her.”
Seungcheol went towards Seokmin, staring into the other's eyes.
“Don't think I won't beat you up just because we're friends,” he threatened. “Keep up with your shit and you'll see what happens.”
“I think you should calm down,” you said, pushing your boyfriend away.
Seokmin stood there motionless, not because he was scared, but because he probably felt betrayed that his long term friend didn't trust him.
When Seungcheol looked at you, he was almost foaming at the mouth as he spoke in between teeth.
“I'll calm down once you get fucking dressed.”
Seungcheol didn't even raise his voice. He didn't have to. If it was anyone else, they would've already pissed their pants and went home crying. But that was your boyfriend for three years now, you knew exactly how things worked with him. So you went to the living room, Seungcheol right behind you.
“They're literally your friends. And everyone has been nothing but respectful—”
“Oh, yeah, I saw how respectfully Wonwoo stared at your ass when you got out of the pool,” he said sarcastically.
“I'm sure he didn't do that.”
“I literally saw it!”
“Okay, whatever, why does it matter?” You shrugged. “It's not like he tried anything or—”
“Why does it matter? You must have lost your fucking mind.” He sneered at you.
“What the fuck are you talking about?!” You said with irritation, voice slightly raising.
“I just don't want them looking at your body.”
“You're fucking crazy,” you said nonchalantly. “We're swimming. It's summer. People wear bikinis.”
“I didn't fucking ask,” Seungcheol looked scarily calm. “Go put on some clothes.”
You laughed sarcastically, still not believing his words.
“I'm not changing just because you're insecure.”
That seemed to make him snap. If his eyes could turn red, they would've. Seungcheol slowly got closer, eyes glued to yours.
“What the fuck did you just say?”
“That's where jealousy comes from. Insecurity,” you shrugged.
Seungcheol grabbed you by the chin, lips inches away from yours.
“Get upstairs.”
You laughed at his face.
“I'm not going anywhere.”
“You're getting upstairs because I fucking told you so,” he spat the words. “Otherwise I'll take you out and fuck you right in front of everyone since you like to show-off so much.”
Your body temperature raised as you stared into your boyfriend's eyes, his words echoing in the back of your head. It was a pattern you had to work on; every time he got angry, it went straight down your pussy, thighs clenching and all.
“Oh, did I upset you, Cheollie?”
Your lips crashed, your boyfriend eager as his hands grabbed tight around your waist, pushing his body against yours. You wrapped your arms around his neck, Seungcheol's hand gripping so tight at your ass it made you moan against his lips.
“Cheol—” You gasped as he sucked at the skin in your neck. “Let's go upstairs—”
“Now you want to go upstairs?”
Seungcheol held tighter around your waist, pushing you against the sofa. You laid down with your heart racing, your boyfriend getting on top of you with a devilish smirk on his lips.
“Wait— What if someone sees us?”
“Isn't that what you want?” He leaned down, lips pressed to your ear. “My pretty little attention whore.”
Shivers went down your spine as he bit on your neck, gasps escaping from your lips and your shaking hands going through his hair. He sucked on your skin hard enough to leave marks, heat growing in between your legs.
“Seriously— Ah!”
Seungcheol had pulled your bikinis top to the sides, exposing your boobs to suck on your nipples.
“Weren't you all over Wonwoo? You won't mind if he sees me sucking your tits, will you?”
“Please— Not here—”
“Wow, you're polite all of a sudden?”
Your boyfriend slipped his hand inside your bikini bottom as you desperately put your top back in place, looking over your head at the giant glass window from where the sun came in and you could see the pool.
Fortunately, they were probably all gathered outside at the table by the grill, but if anyone decided they wanted to go swimming, you'd be fucked. Not in a good way.
“Cheol, what if—”
Seungcheol started rubbing your clit, your cunt getting wet in seconds as you gripped onto his shoulders.
“I'm just gonna show you how insecure I am,” he smirked, fingers brushing at your entrance.
“Let's go—”
You were stopped by your boyfriend untying one side of your bikini bottoms, pulling the rest to the side and exposing you right in the middle of the living room in a house where six other people could walk in at any moment.
“Shit, don't—”
You swallowed dry as Seungcheol started moving down, hands softly caressing your hips before he went down in between your legs, leaving open mouth kisses in your inner thighs.
“Fuck, no…” You moaned, his fingers playing with your cunt.
“Are you scared Seokmin might see us?”
Seungcheol's lips were really close to your cunt when he spoke, his warm breathing hitting against your core, making your toes curl.
“Anyone could see us—”
Your hand almost smacked your mouth when Cheol wrapped his lips around your folds, sucking hard on your clit, slurping your juices. Your legs trembled as you looked up once again, then at the kitchen’s door, waiting for someone to walk in.
Cheol didn't seem to care, wet sounds from his lips against your dripping cunt taking over the room as you pressed your hand tight against your mouth to keep yourself quiet.
“You looked really pretty with this bikini,” his tongue brushed against your entrance. “But your wet pussy looks better. And they can't have it.”
Cheol pushed one of his fingers inside your cunt, softly stretching your entrance. Your back arched, your heart skipping a beat when you heard Mingyu's laugh, followed by Seokmin's high pitched scream.
“Oh, God—” You whispered.
Giving in, you held tight onto your boyfriend's hair, shoving his face harder into your wet cunt to try to make him go faster. Instead of working harder, he simply grabbed one of your calves and placed your leg on top of his shoulder.
With your pussy spread out to him, you let Cheol’s finger fuck into you as his tongue sucked on your clit so hard you felt your soul almost leaving your body.
“Babe— A room—” You whined.
Cheol surprised you by pushing a second finger in, still sucking hard at your clit, heat pooling down your core as you squirmed under him. Losing yourself, you closed your eyes and let him stretch you out, his fingers hitting just right as you gripped onto the sofa's armrest. Cheol’s soft lips felt like heaven, especially when he started moving his head faster.
You just didn't expect him to pull out his cock and shove into you without a warning, his thickness stretching you out so good you let a loud and clear moan escape from your lips.
Desperate, you once again looked around, checking every exit and window, your friends nowhere to be seen.
“What? Want them to watch me fucking you?”
Seungcheol grabbed your chin, making you stare into his eyes, and when you held tight around his neck and wrapped your legs around his hips, it was just you, him, and the adrenaline rushing through your veins. You got lost into the sensation of his thick tip hitting deep, every thrust making you bite hard onto your own lip to keep quiet.
“You're. All. Mine.”
Every pause of his previous words turned into a hard, deep pound, your legs turning into jelly as you opened yourself even more to him. You didn't want to open your eyes, because you were pretty sure you'd end up seeing a crowd watching your boyfriend fuck you into oblivion, anxiety mixing with the feeling of your walls tightening around your boyfriend's big cock.
“Fuck—” You whispered, scratching his back. “Cheol— I'm—”
Your back arched as the wave of pleasure hit you like a punch in the stomach, leaving you breathless and almost paralyzed as Seungcheol started thrusting even harder, your sensitive clit and walls pulsing. You held onto him as you felt Cheol's cock fill you up with his cum, leaking as he kept thrusting until there was nothing left.
“Fuck,” he gasped. “That's what you needed, right?”
Seungcheol grabbed your face, your cheeks squeezed into his hand as he breathed hard while staring deeply into your eyes.
“Never forget you're mine.”

So, I've been writing a blind character who cooks. So far, I've written him as being someone who relies a lot on routine and habit, who navigates the kitchen by touch and by memory. He's a bit rigid, and insists on using his own tools, which are color coded (he can see them up close with what residual vision he has) and marked with braille, but I was wondering what other tools a blind person might use when cooking.
A Bunch of Stuff For Blind People Who Want to Cook
I don’t know where and when your story takes place, so what is used might change depending on the character. Here are some options to get you started. There are many tools and techniques devoted to making cooking easier. I don’t know as much about the subject, so I’ll do my best. Please add any other ideas in the notes.
First, the creator @canseecantsee on YouTube and TikTok is an excellent resource. She has lots of videos showcasing how she cooks and does various daily tasks. She demonstrates the use of many tools, such as heat resistant gloves and high contrast items. Here is a video in which she demonstrates chopping vegetables.
Notice the high contrast items such as the yellow chopping board and purple knife. In the video, she demonstrates use of the towel or a place mat beneath the cutting board to prevent slipping. As she cuts a cucumber, tomatoes, and onions, she also uses a technique that allows her to feel the edge of the item so that she knows where she wants to cut and how thick the slices will be.
Here is a video by TheBlindLife showcasing his accessible kitchen. He has excellent points on the importance of contrast, from color contrast to shape contrast. The video includes
bump dots
labels
high contrast colors of tools
high contrast plates and bowls
talking scale and thermometer
heat resistant gloves
and alternatives for glass cups
High contrast is important and can be created by being mindful of the kind of countertops or tables used. For example, in the video, there is a triangular plate that is decorated like a pizza slice. Eating on this plate might cause food to get lost visually, especially food that has the same colors as the plate. Much like the plate, counters or tablecloths with busy patterns might cause items to be harder to see due to lack of contrast. Plain counters, tables, or tablecloths make items stand out more.
Additionally, creating contrast between surfaces and the items on them is helpful. The table is a dark wood? Light plates, bowls, and cups it is. The counter is plain white? The plates and bowls are a dark color.
For glass cups, the video offers solid, colorful plastic cups that offer better contrast. The fact that glasses are clear makes them even more of a challenge and colorful plastic alleviates that concern. However, if someone wants to use glass cups, they can use some that are either made with colorful glass or have color somewhere on them. This might help depending on the contrast and lighting.
In addition to memory, your character can also use labels and various markers. Sharpie, different colors and shapes, textural elements like bump dots, actual Braille or large print labels, tape, stickers, string, or ribbon. Label makers are great, but plenty of other options exist, particularly considering the aesthetic the kitchen has. He may also enjoy decorating this way since he has residual vision. Ribbons tied around containers of sugar, salt, and flour can be cute and functional.
A few other ideas after searching cooking stuff:
talking items, such as a blender, rice cooker, or microwave oven
marking speed on electric mixers or other devices
talking, high contrast, or large print timers
funnel or liquid level indicator
Braille or large print labeled measuring cups
individual bowls for portions, such as soup, rice, sauces, proteins, etc. Different shapes, sizes, or color could also indicate what food item typically goes in what bowl.
You can also come up with other ideas by thinking about what your character would use and how that might be done more easily. While I prefer characters use blindness techniques and assistive devices, people also naturally make things easier for themselves through organization and creating their own labels. A person who cooks might also be able to distinguish certain ingredients by smell or texture.
Another tip I have is to watch blind content creators on social media. Chances are, some of them show themselves cooking or discuss how they do it.
Lighting is also going to be a big deal. The kitchen will need good lighting, both overhead and under cabinets. Natural lighting is also great, although this is not as reliable or constant.
What he uses might also depend on various factors such as income; how often a character cooks; amount of available space; time period and setting; cultural practices around cooking, eating, and utensils used; access to the blind community; willingness to use assistive devices for blind people; any internalized ableism or ableism from family; and level of vision.
Hope that helps.

ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ᴏɴᴇ: A Pot of Stew
Ssssss....
The crackle of the fireplace is all you really hear as you flit around through your home, grabbing the big stew pot from the wooden cabinet. The house was quiet, which was surprising, considering you lived with three other people.
Your father was out with his friend, hoping to catch some fish before the harsh winter would freeze over the lakes. You had sent your brother out earlier to fetch some tomatoes from the market, as the small garden you maintained only produced lettuce, potatoes, onions, and strawberries when they were in season. Hopefully the tomatoes your brother brought back could have seeds that you could save to plant in the spring.
Your sister was most likely out at Chiyo’s home, the old woman ran the local apothecary was sweet enough to allow the small girl to aid her in crushing herbs and spices to create the medicines that lined her shelves.
Walking outside, you grab the big bucket by the door, making your way to the home of the Kirishimas, who had a well they let you use to fetch water.
You mentally groan, knowing that carrying a bucket of water would be a bitch to carry back home. Hopefully you could bug your red-haired friend to aid you in carrying it home if he was around.
He wasn’t there unfortunately, hooking the bucket to the rope before sending it down to collect water. Once if was full, you pulled the rope that you were holding onto with all your strength, allowing the pulley system to bear most of the weight.
Deadpanning, you know most of the water that spills out will end on you, sighing in defeat with the resignation that complaining will get you nowhere. You had a family to feed.
Rolling up the sleeves of your white blouse, you grab the bucket’s handle with both hands, almost dropping it from the sheer weight of it, lamenting the cold sting of the water against your skin as it seeps through your leggings.
It was almost comical, the way your face was scrunched in concentration as you made your way home, watching your step from the occasional loose pebble so you wouldn’t trip. Your muscles ached, but it was nothing you couldn’t handle, considering how much worse you’d been through when it came to other tasks that required similar feats. It was another perk of being the oldest child, though you were only a year older than your brother, yet you wouldn’t have it any other way. Your family meant the world to you, and you would do everything in your power to protect them.
Reaching the steps leading up to the door of your home, you set the bucket down finally, your arms practically singing in relief, only for you to pick it up again after turning the doorknob and closing the door shut with your boot-clad foot.
Making your way to the stew pot that was currently sitting over the fire, you fill it with the water you fetched, letting it boil while you prepared the vegetables you needed.
Busying yourself with chopping the ingredients you already had, you took the sprigs of cilantro you saved from a few days ago and sliced them so they were thin enough. As you worked your way through the small pile, the door opened to reveal a familiar tuft of purple hair.
“Hey Toshi!” you call out, waving from the kitchen to signal your presence.
Your brother takes notice, entering the room and setting the sack of tomatoes on the counter before making his way over to you, ruffling your hair in affection before raising an eyebrow.
“How much stew are you making?” he asks suspiciously “The four of us aren’t going to be able to eat all of that in time before it tastes bad.”
You snort, rolling your eyes. “You underestimate Eri’s appetite. Plus, Ejiro, Ochako and Izuku are coming over to join us. I’m making enough for each of our families.”
Hitoshi chuckles in response, walking over to the makeshift pantry you made a few months ago, grabbing a loaf of bread. “Y/N, you would feed the entire village if you could. Actually, you could, but we wouldn’t let you.” he rolls his eyes playfully and you send him a halfhearted glare.
“It’s called being nice, Mr. Hitoshi Aizawa, a concept foreign to your cold heart.” you say, placing the back of your hand on your forehead dramatically.
He groans, taking the knife from you to slice the bread, while you move to take the tomatoes. “Ugh stop, you sound like Toshinori.” he gripes, punching your shoulder in annoyance.
A giggle bursts out of your lips at that, abandoning the tomatoes you were washing in the basket to strike a pose, letting out an “I AM HERE!” in the best Toshinori Yagi impression you could.
They used to call him All Might, a war hero who was known for bringing your home country countless victories, the wars he entered had casualty numbers so low that you wondered if he was blessed by the gods. Blessed in the past tense though, as after a critical injury in a recent war, he was deemed unable to fight and left the army with an honorable discharge, growing into the old man he was today, running a stand at the marketplace where he sold quality vegetables from his extensive garden.
You must’ve looked ridiculous as you posed however, because your brother cackles, throwing his head back and smiling so wide his face must’ve hurt. You laugh too, happiness bubbling in your chest from seeing him so happy as well. You chuck an unwashed tomato at him, knowing he’d catch it, and reprimand him.
“Okay now get back to work you rodent, we’re feeding a group of seven tonight.” you tease, sticking out your tongue and he tosses the tomato back to you, returning to slicing the bread.
You both spent the next hour or so like that, trading banter and occasionally fighting, but managing to be productive as you finish cutting all your vegetables, throwing them into the stew pot, creating a lovely aroma that makes your stomach growl in hunger.
You hear a knock at the door, Hitoshi opting to answer it. It was Chiyo, returning Eri home for the day, the girl in question had a bright smile on her face, and a few bottles of unknown liquids in her hands that were sure to join the others in the washroom’s medicine cabinet.
“Toshi!!” she squeals, and you smile, hearing a small uff! escape the purplenette’s lips, knowing that Eri most likely hugged him around his legs, the only part of him she could really reach at the moment. Sometimes it was infuriating how much taller he was than you.
Your brother thanks Chiyo, and the old lady leaves with the promise of fresh baked goods during her next visit.
“Where’s Y/N??” Eri asks excitedly, and you want to snort at her random burst of hyperness.
“M’over here banana.” you call from where you sat in front of the fireplace, and Eri trudges over with an annoyed look over her face.
“I told you not to call me that!” she whines, huffing as she sits down next to you, trying to look into the pot to see what you were making.
“Careful- it’s hot.” You warn, gently pushing her away. “Plus you love bananas!”
Your little sister makes a face plopping down to lie on the floor with a grumpy expression. “I hate bananas.” she grumbles, stretching her limbs out to take up as much of the floor as she could.
You quirk up an eyebrow “Are you sure? You sure look like one.” you say gathering her hair once she sits up and holding it high above her head to resemble the elongated shape of a banana fruit.
She splutters, and you snort releasing her hair, so it falls straight into her face, and returning your attention to the stew, stirring it and taking the wooden spoon you had out, gathering some of the liquid before bringing it to your lips, tasting it briefly.
“Toshi!” you call from where you sat. “Can you bring me some paprika?”
You hear a Yeah whatever come from the hallway, and you return your attention back to your sulking sister.
“Y’know for someone so nice, you’re really mean.” she pouts, and you smile in a half hearted apology, fixing her hair.
“Eri, my job as your sister, as well as Toshi’s as your brother, is to be mean to you because we love you so much. If we were nice to you all the time, wouldn’t we be boring?” you ask.
“Hmm... I guess. Is Izuku coming over today?” she asks, laying her head on your lap looking up at you with impossibly huge sparkling red puppy eyes.
You laugh, flicking her nose lightly. Izuku was her favorite out of your friends, probably because he worked in the markets, for Toshinori no less, and he brought her apples every day.
“Yes, Izuku’s coming over for dinner tonight, so go wash up and be on your best behavior.” you say warningly, and she nods, jumping up excitedly and rushing to your shared room.
Hitoshi enters the living room at that moment, sprinkling the paprika into the stew until you told him to stop, stirring lightly before tasting and grinning in satisfaction.
Handing him the spoon, Hitoshi has a taste of his own, his eyes lighting up as the flavors hit his tastebuds.
“Damn.” is all he says, and you punch his leg, happy that he likes it, but scolding him for his language.
“Eri’s in the other room idiot, go change and I’ll get dinner served before they get here.” you order, shooing him out and you grab a damp towel from the kitchen to carry the pot into the room, setting it on the countertop and placing aforementioned towel on top so it stays warm. Putting out the fire in the living room, you open a cabinet, grabbing a large plate and exactly seven bowls and spoons. Setting the dishes around the large wooden dining table, you spoon equal amounts of stew into each of the bowls, the aroma even stronger now, and you give Eri extra because you know she’ll ask you for more later.
You brought out the wooden carved drinking cups that you had, a gift from your late mother, setting them around the table and filling them with some of the remaining water from the well. Putting the plate in the middle of the table, you set the bread Hitoshi cut from earlier along with some goat cheese gifted to you by Izuku the previous day.
Wiping your hands on your apron, you sigh, about to call for your siblings before you hear a knock at the door, revealing a smiling Ejiro Kirishima.
“Hey Eji!” you beam, wrapping your arms around your lifelong friend, who reciprocates the action and spins you around before setting you down, welcoming himself in- he'd been to your home so frequently certain mannerisms weren’t needed anymore.
“Hey Cactus!” he smiles back, and you roll your eyes at the nickname.
Ejiro insisted that your kindness was always a facade and that you were a fiery beast that even hell was afraid of in secret, and the redhead had given you the nickname once seeing you scold man around your age for trying to look up Ochako’s skirt. You insisted you weren’t usually like this, but the nickname stuck, a term of endearment used only by your closest friends.
You smack his forearm, and roll your eyes, still smiling however, leading him to the dining room before calling out for your siblings.
Eri bounds in, only to be swept up in Ejiro’s arms, giggling as he spins her around to simulate flight.
He sets her down and she jumps up, “Again, again!” she chants.
He groans, feigning pain. “But you’re so heavy!” He says, pretending to faint in your direction, and you roll your eyes and push him off, laughing. “I think you got bigger since the last time I saw you.”
Eri giggles, putting her hands on her hips. “I saw you this morning silly! That was only...” she counts on her fingers. “47 hours ago!”
You want to laugh, knowing that it was only about 13 hours since she last saw the red haired male, but Ejiro only groans even more.
“Exactly! You grew so much from then! You might become even taller than your sister.” he says, wiggling his eyebrows.
Eri giggles, and Hitoshi joins you three in the living room, stealing a piece of cheese from the table and popping it in his mouth.
"I'm not short!" You grumble, crossing your arms. "You and Hitoshi are just stupidly tall."
You hear another knock on the door, leaving Ejiro and your siblings to their devices as you answer it. Opening the door, you’re met with Izuku, accompanied by Ochako, both giving you a hug as you let them in, exchanging their signature greetings.
“Hey Cactus!” they both chirp in unison and you snort, ruffling Izuku’s hair and squeezing Ochako’s shoulder.
“Hey you two!” you say, smiling knowingly. Ever since the two of them became a couple, they were practically joined at the hip.
You make your way to the dining room, where Ejiro is seen with Eri on his shoulders, the latter playing with former’s hair while he talks to your brother.
Eri’s eyes light up, practically launching herself off the poor red head- thankfully Izuku catches her, producing another apple from his satchel.
You groan, knowing that if Eri ate too many she would grow to get sick of them, but you let her be, knowing that she was happy.
You all sit down to eat, Shinso on one side of you and Eri on the other. Ejiro sat next to your brother and Izuku sat next to Eri with his girlfriend on his other side.
Catching up with your friends, and eating the food you made, your eyes couldn’t help but wander to the empty seat at the head of the table, where your father sat.
He still hadn’t returned from his fishing trip.
You knew he was more than capable of taking care of himself, yet you couldn’t help but worry. Your father, Shota Aizawa sustained a terrible injury in a war a few years ago, forcing him to amputate his own leg in order to prevent the toxins from a poison covered arrow from reaching his neural system. It was the same year your mother had died, leaving you, a grieving ten-year-old you to take care of your father as well as a nine-year-old Hitoshi and a newborn Eri. You were forced to grow up fast in those times, a dark patch for your family, yet it became a big part of who you were today.
Which included your boundless paranoia, thinking the worst as the time ticked by, with no sight of your father.
Hitoshi takes notice, sending you a worried glance, opening his mouth to say something before the door swings open.
It was your father, relief flooding through you before you took in his haggard state. He looks tired, more tired than usual. Your father always looked tired, but never weary.
His eyes scan the room, frantically looking around, before the settle on you.
“I have bad news.”

“Oh, now this - what about this one?”
Hyunjin hears Jisung’s voice from the aisle beside him where all the cold drinks are located. He himself had been scanning vigorously among the shelves for his favourite brand of ramen, only to come up short. They had been to four convenience stores prior and not one had what he was looking for. It landed them a trip further away than they had expected, but neither of them complained about wandering around far from where they were supposed to be.
After he straightens up and peeks his head over the snacks to see what Jisung was talking about, he shakes his head solemnly.
“No. No, that one's grape flavoured and it tastes like children’s medicine,” he says to him.
Jisung looks down at the purple can in his possession, “that’s oddly specific - oh, then what about orange-“
“Same thing.”
Jisung huffs and gives up, placing the can back where he found it in a disgruntled fashion, “you’re an easy man to please you know, but the minute it comes to food you’re so picky.”
Hyunjin strolls around to meet Jisung on the other side after filling his basket with snacks that had caught his eye and wanted to eat during their movie night, “drinks aren’t food.”
“Then what’s soup? A drink or a food?” He fires back.
“Not this again,” Hyunjin rolls his eyes and closes the fridge for Jisung who follows behind closely.
They’ve been debating about this for a while now which started off as a very contentious pillow talk topic that now crops up frequently. Of course, they wouldn’t be themselves if they didn’t have opposing opinions. Jisung, who thinks that soup is absolutely a drink, has been pushing that agenda ever since the night he tried to cook French onion soup to impress Hyunjin.
Only, it wasn’t that impressive, and was rather just a slurry of tasteless onion water and zero seasoning. In order to not upset his friend for trying his hardest, Hyunjin did his best to stomach the interesting creation and honestly hoped that he never tried again.
“It’s an important question!” Jisung begins to protest, ready with an army of rebuttals and arguments.
“Soup is a liquid food. That doesn’t mean to say it’s a drink, because you can eat soup. Plus, some soups have chunks of food in it too.”
“That’s just vegetable water or meat water.”
“Meat water,” Hyunjin repeats in a disgusted tone. “So you’re also saying that plain water is soup too?”
“Well, if you heat it up-“
“Okay,” Hyunjin interrupts as he dumps all their items onto the counter and takes out his wallet to pay. “Stop talking.”
“Make me,” he mouths and teases quietly so that the cashier couldn’t hear him. “If you stuff my mouth with something big then it might get me to stop talking.”
Hyunjin rolls his eyes, again.
Nearly every waking moment that he’s around Jisung, there’s always a guarantee that he’ll make Hyunjin’s eyes roll; whether it’s because of some weird shit that comes out of his mouth, or whether it’s giving him an orgasm. Whatever the reason, Hyunjin pretends to ignore him as he collects his goods, then heads out with his best friend at his side.
The entire commute back to his apartment, Jisung kept talking. On and on, and on about an assortment of subjects that Hyunjin had no interest in. At least not now. Not when all he wanted to do was go home, not speak, and just laze around with Jisung like he has been for the past few weeks. That thought seems to trigger a very sobering realisation that dawns on him as they ride the train back to his place.
As Hyunjin looks at the side of Jisung’s face who’s been rambling on about his opinion on the best types of pasta, he realises that they’ve been hooking up for the past few weeks. They kiss, make out, do other things, but not once have they had sex. Yet. They haven’t even talked about it, and yet, a part of Hyunjin had to wonder; was there any point in even talking let alone thinking about it if whatever is going on between them, isn’t going to last?
His eyebrows knit together. He doesn’t want to think about that. Hyunjin doesn’t know whatever feelings Jisung has right now, but the one thing he knows is that he likes the sense of comfort that hanging around him brings. What if he asks and disrupts what they have? What if he asks and ruins Jisung’s thoughts on him?
As those questions infiltrate his psyche, his head lowers and comes to rest on Jisung’s shoulder, eyelids closing softly, “wake me up when we get to our stop please.”
Jisung’s big brown eyes turn into the size of plates, a little bit taken aback that Hyunjin, a person who isn’t that huge on public displays of affection, is resting on him right now. Not to mention the privileged feeling that inflates Jisung whenever a person rests their head on his shoulder, which is very rare. It’s like some physical way of saying that Hyunjin trusts him, or feels comfortable around him at the very least.
He scans up and down the cart where no members of the public come into his view. Grateful for their absence, Jisung feels safe by reciprocating the same affections. So he places his hand on Hyunjin’s upper thigh, and he too rests his head against his friends’.
For the next five minutes, Jisung and Hyunjin would ride the train back to his place in peace. Neither of them spoke a word until they reached their stop. The pair of them hop up, Hyunjin stands and stretches his long limbs as he and his friend head inside the apartment complex.
Once they return to his place, Hyunjin prepares all the snacks for them on his coffee table, while Jisung gets the movie ready that they - he - wanted to watch.
“Harry Potter? Again?” Hyunjin groans, taking the plastic wrap off of the kimbap to share and setting it down on the surface once they’ve both sunken down onto the couch.
“What do you mean ‘again’?” Jisung shoots him a dirty look. He’s always been pretty serious about his Harry Potter, having watched the movies over a thousand times and read the books back to back. “This is the next part of the series, thank you.”
Hyunjin sighs and makes himself comfortable. He then heads to his fridge to grab a couple of bottles of soju and some shot glasses. Back at the convenience store, he meant to buy something non alcoholic, had he not been so picky about the flavours Jisung presented to him he wouldn’t be deciding on whether he should have alcohol or not. In saying that, it was nice to have a drink.
He strolls back to the coffee table with their final items and places them all down.
"Oh, yum," Jisung gasps and reaches for the bottle, unscrews the cap and starts pouring the clear liquid into both shot glasses already.
Hyunjin stares at him as he downs the alcohol in one smooth go, "alright then..."
Jisung holds up the other shot glass for Hyunjin, "your turn."
He takes it in hand, careful not to spill it on the rug beneath him - then again, it's seen a lot more messier liquids on it than alcohol.
"Yuck," Hyunjin retches after swallowing half of the contents in the glass.
"Come on, you know you like it," Jisung nudges him. "You know the saying; if you can handle cum, you can handle alcohol."
Hyunjin nearly sprays out the rest of the alcohol from his mouth as a muddle of amusement, concern, and curiosity wakes him up more than the semi-burn of the drink does, "and who said that exactly?"
"Me," he answers. "Hence why I can take both so well."
Like some of the time, Jisung wasn't wrong and summed it up with another shot before he picked up the remote to play the movie. He settles back comfortably while Hyunjin takes another shot of the soju.
He makes it through the first twenty minutes of the film, then reaches the part where Harry Potter suddenly gets selected for the Triwizard Tournament. By that point, Hyunjin was sure the alcohol had fully trickled into his bloodstream when he wasn't able to tell the difference between Mad Eye Moody and Hagrid.
Frames started to blend together and yet, he thought it was still a good idea to continue drinking to see if that would help. However, most good idea turn to bad ones. The alcohol began to play absolutely no part in trying to help him make sense of the plot and made him focus on other things rather than the movie.
It was safe to say that he grew steadily bored when it came to watching it. At the same time, he didn't have the heart in him to express his opinion to the person beside him who was so wrapped up in the universe on screen. Jisung's eyes were completely glued to the digital motions before him whereas Hyunjin's eyes were glued to him.
Boredom strikes him bad when he feels the need to lean over and make his long body comfortable on Jisung. Hyunjin's upper torso stretches over his friend's lap who doesn't pay too much mind to it. Jisung even hangs his arms over Hyunjin's abdomen while he watches the film contently.
It's not the type of physical contact he wants right now.
"Jisungie," he mutters into the couch.
"Hmm?"
"Can we do something else?" Hyunjin pleads rather than asks.
He never gets a response. The lounge continues to be filled with dialogue - something along the lines of Ron Weasly now having a go at Harry for being inducted into the tournament and not telling him. Hyunjin's had enough of it and for whatever reason he feels like, he slides off of Jisung's lap. Half of his body slumps onto the ground while the other half remains somewhat on the couch.
"What are you doing?" he snorts, grabbing onto Hyunjin's hands and trying to hoist him back up.
He awkwardly anchors his legs around Jisung's body in an effort to help pull himself up as well but ends up knocking his head on the edge of the coffee table. With a delayed reaction, Hyunjin winces and then laughs as he tries to rub his own head even while Jisung is still trying to save him from falling off completely.
"Here just - just stop moving so I can help," he leans back and uses all his arm strength to move what is practically dead weight to him.
Hyunjin puts in zero effort to help and instead becomes a giggling mess the second he's actually able to get back into Jisung's lap. When he does, his long limp limbs wrap themselves around the man beneath him. He hides his face in the crook of his neck, the sudden whiff of Jisung's skin almost makes him dizzy, making his mood do a complete one eighty degree turn.
It creates immense difficulty in trying to swallow the urge to plant a kiss over the soft area, earning a very quiet yet distinct hum from Jisung. Hyunjin repeats the same action, longer this time and in different spots that his tongue can swipe over. The grip Hyunjin barely knew was there on his hips, twitched in place. As if Jisung's nails are trying to dig into Hyunjin's flesh had he not worn clothes.
"Hey," Jisung alerts him. “Can’t watch the movie if all you’re trying to do is get on my dick- ah…”
Hyunjin’s mouth shuts his right up from one sharp suck into his skin. His tongue flattens over the fresh red plum mark. The sight of it alone makes Hyunjin want to decorate them over every inch of Jisung’s body, similar to the style of how he would paint a canvas - which he does. Over as much skin as Jisung lets him when he moves his head to allow Hyunjin to cover more skin.
“Y-You’ll…you’ll get me hard,” he warns, now unable to concentrate on the film.
Hyunjin pulls away from his neck, giving him a rest from the myriad of hickies he’ll have to worry about later, and looks him down in the eye, “that’s sort of the point.”
Their mouths draw together like magnets, like they’ve been doing for weeks. Every day they find their lips on the others or some body party of theirs. Jisung gets to relish and dawn in the softness of Hyunjin’s lips, letting him slip past further to explore his mouth. His needs not only start to show through in his pants, but in his breathing and frantic pace of trying to feel Jisung that he almost can’t keep up with him.
So he decides that he needs to contain him a bit, bring him down a few notches to reminds him that he’s not in charge - at least for now.
With that, Jisung wraps his hand right around Hyunjin’s waist and manoeuvres him onto his back. The abrupt shift in control makes him act up almost instantly. Hyunjin is grabbing at Jisung’s shirt trying pull his body back down to his, but his muscles are weak and tired from drinking that it makes it too easy for Jisung to straddle his hips and pin his hands to the side of his head.
“Look what you’ve done to yourself,” he tells Hyunjin right in his ear while he rolls his ass down over the dick that's hardening underneath him. "Gonna be fucking begging when I'm through with you."
At that point, the pair had gone beyond the fact of not completing a full movie night. With the way that Jisung continues to pin Hyunjin back and exchange the manifold of hickies across the planes of his throat and neck. If anyone walked into the apartment, they would’ve thought vampires truly existed with the way Jisung’s mouth was latched onto his best friend’s skin.
“T-The movie,” Hyunjin stammers hopelessly with his words. “Jisung…the movie…”
Jisung lets out a sinister chuckle as he pushes himself back up to take off his shirt and tosses it somewhere around the lounge, "fuck the movie. You started this. This is what you wanted, isn't it? To rile me up and now you've gone all shy on me."
Hyunjin doesn't listen. His first instinct is to reach out and grab Jisung’s waist, to caress his hand freely for a few moments before gliding down and grasping the flesh over his hips. The slight sting in it makes him buck his hips forward and over Hyunjin’s clothed cock, making him groan lowly. He could cum easily like this - so easily and has done.
Every position they get into to practically dry hump each other, he always imagines that this is what it would be like if Jisung was riding his throbbing cock. To cum inside him and watch his face contorts the way that it does whenever Hyunjin makes him orgasm.
That thought sparks a wire in his brain, causing him to suddenly jerk his hips up and into Jisung. He smirks down at him, soaking up the state of the man beneath him. The hickies, red and wet kissable lips, dozy eyes that slowly blink up at him…
“You’re so fucking gorgeous,” Jisung mutters in exasperation like he's never seen Hyunjin's body before. “Just wanna f-”
Blaring on the coffee table next to all of the opened snacks was Jisung’s phone, he quickly bends over to the side to reach for it in urgency while still trying to straddle. Hyunjin twists his body carefully with Jisung still on top, picking the remote off the floor that had fallen after being pinned back. He pauses the movie for a moment to let Jisung answer his call.
A small weight sinks in his stomach as he speaks in shock, “it’s Chan."
"M-Maybe you should answer it," Hyunjin tries his best to talk over the exponential rate of how much he is turned on right now.
“Hello?” He answers.
“Jisung! Do you not answer your texts? I sent about six just before!”
He pulls his phone away from his ear and checks his notifications. His friend was right, Jisung had in fact missed his messages. But not on purpose of course. If he hadn't been so busy provoking Hyunjin whose hands started sliding up Jisung’s thighs, dangerously close to his tented crotch, he would've seen the texts.
Hyunjin's fingertips delicately trace over where Jisung's cock begins to harden. His eyebrows furrow immediately as Chan continues speaking on the other end of the line about how he’s still surprised that Jisung didn’t answer him right away.
“You’re always on your phone, I thought you might’ve been quick to respond,” says Chan.
“Oh, yeah not this time,” he responds truthfully, to some degree. “I’ve been watching Harry Potter all evening and-“
The words ready to leave Jisung's mouth die before they make it out as Hyunjin mischievously, and very clearly, starts to palm Jisung’s hard length over his pants. It didn’t take him that long to start leaking from his tip, creating a very visible dark patch over his shorts.
“…and-“
Hyunjin then reaches into the slot of the material, past his boxers and frees his cock. For a few moments, he takes away his hand just to admire how Jisung looks right now. The fact that he tried to finish what Hyunjin started, only to have the tables turned on him again. He flushes with embarrassment at the fact that without Hyunjin’s grasp around his length, his dick was able to stand tall on its own; so needy and desperate for touch.
“And what?” Chan’s voice suddenly startles him out of his situation.
“And I just lost track of time, that’s all,” Jisung continues as calmly as he can.
“No worries. I haven’t watched Harry Potter in years. I think the last might’ve been Prisoner of Azkaban? No, Goblet of Fire? It was the one where…”
Chan’s voice drifts out of Jisung’s mind despite the fact that he’s right in his ear on the other line. His face contorts at the sudden pleasure he receives as Hyunjin takes hold of his neglected cock once more. His eyes dart sharply down to his own length and the large hand which begins to slowly tug.
“…he gets chosen for the tournament when he really didn’t put his name into the cup…”
Jisung brings a shaky hand to his mouth, covering it immediately so as to mask and muffle something that could end up as a future regret. Hyunjin knows all too well what sort of sounds can come out of that mouth of his too, for it has reverberated around the walls of his apartment, stifled into his pillows, caught in the back of his throat which usually serves as a path for Hyunjin’s cum these days.
He’s heard it all before.
For Jisung to keep a lid on all of those possibilities is a smart move, especially if they want to uphold the secrecy of their situation.
“…and I’m pretty sure it’s the one where Cedric dies.”
“Y-Yeah,” he responds shakily. “That’s the one we - I’m watching at the moment.”
“Maybe I should rewatch the first two,” Chan suggests to himself. “It’s the only series I can actually watch and understand without it being too complicated. I tried watching Lord of the Rings before but it’s too…”
Once more, Chan’s voice becomes a distant sound as Jisung tries to stop himself from bucking his hips into Hyunjin’s hand. But it’s not possible. He can’t just ignore the fact that he’s been horny since Hyunjin made him all hot and bothered, and now he’s built up to maximum capacity where his body craves release.
“So what time suits you?” Chan asks randomly.
“Time for what?” Jisung responds back in confusion, his mind blending together like mush when Hyunjin has gotten into a steady pace.”
“To hang out tomorrow!”
“Oh, right! Ah - um, lunchtime? Twelve…” He suggests, his hips still rutting.
“Alright sounds good. I’ll see you there okay?” Chan asks.
“I’m cumming - I mean, I-I’ll come! I’ll be coming - going there,” Jisung stammers terribly with his words. “F-Fuck sorry, just…I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Chan laughs on the other end of the line, “see you then.”
Jisung has never hung up faster, the phone toppling out of his possession as he rocks his hips into Hyunjin’s grasp. It also gave him the ability to rut his ass against Hyunjin’s hard length below him. Then within a split second, the lid that Jisung was trying so hard to contain over what his body needed to do, came off.
“Fuck, gonna cum, m’cumming!” He cries out.
Hyunjin grins, and does not dare let up on his hand twisting and gliding on the length currently in his power, “I heard you the first time. How humiliating would that have been for you if Chan realised you were getting a handjob. Too bad he can't hear you whining so pathetically-“
Air hitches in Jisung’s throat, and for a few seconds too long Hyunjin looks into his eyes and sees tears welling up. A terrible, cold sinking feeling expands in his stomach, making him realise that he just said something awful to Jisung.
“W-Wait, I’m sorry, I didn’t-
It was too late. Loud moans rupture violently through Jisung’s chest - ones that Hyunjin knows his neighbours are familiar with by now because by no means is Han Jisung quiet. He will let Hyunjin know how he’s making his body feel now explodes from immense pressure.
His rutting against Hyunjin’s cock becomes staggered as a result of trying to chase his orgasm. Jisung clutches onto Hyunjin’s shirt, the fabric balling up tightly along with his fist. He can’t stop, he doesn’t want to stop, until eventually that buildup releases erratically in flows of white that spill over his tip and dribble down Hyunjin’s hand. Jisung had never cum that hard from a handjob before.
He finishes gasping for air when he starts coming down, slowly rocking his ass over Hyunjin’s crotch to ease himself off the euphoria. Beneath him is a different story.
Hyunjin was mortified for making him cry, so shocked that he was frozen and couldn’t take his hand off of Jisung’s dick. But that didn’t matter. Jisung had the intention of finishing what he started, to feel so good that all his problems melted away.
Hyunjin sits up immediately, so close to Jisung’s face as he needs to check in with his friend, “are you okay? I’m so, so sorry, I don’t even know why I said that. It just...it just came out of my mouth.”
He wipes his eyes after a couple of tears fell down his face in the process of dry riding Hyunjin. Part of what just happened makes him laugh breathily and nods, “yeah. I’m okay.”
“Jisung, I’m really, really sorry,” he quickly says and means it, trying to look him in the eye.
“No, oh my god don’t be sorry,” he assures him. “I’m fine, seriously.”
“Then…then why are you crying?” Hyunjin asks the million dollar question, still acting out of horror.
He gives a lazy shrug, “I dunno how to explain it properly, but I like that kind of talk. It just…yeah. I’m not too sure. I suppose I teared up because I haven't actually cum that hard before.”
“I…didn’t know you were into…that,” Hyunjin doesn’t know how to reply to that type of statement, now that he just found out his friend likes being humiliated. Out of all things Jisung would be into, it had to be that.
“There’s a lot of things you don’t know,” he replies, leaning over to the coffee table just a bit to pick up the box of tissues to clean Hyunjin’s hand.
“W-What did Chan want?” He asks even though he doesn't want to stray away from the topic to make sure his friend is still okay.
Jisung slides off of his body and in between his legs rather awkwardly. From this stance, it’s easy to see the large tent in Hyunjin’s pants that he was grinding on as he made himself comfortable. He smooths the palm of his hand over Hyunjin's hard length and slowly back down. In doing so forces a couple of strained sighs out of his mouth.
“Wants to hang out tomorrow,” he answers, reaching into Hyunjin’s shorts to feel his hard cock. The same cock that keeps him coming back, that makes him feel heated and irrational.
In Jisung’s opinion, anyone would be lucky to have someone like his friend in front of him. Even though they haven’t had sex, he knows how Hyunjin fucks, having seen the way he made you cum weeks ago - it only makes Jisung wonder what it would be like to actually cum around Hyunjin’s cock.
It’s what he wants, needs in fact whenever they’re together.
Hyunjin bites his lip and throws his head down onto the couch, “y-you going to?”
“Course I am,” Jisung replies, thumbing over the dark pink tip that leaks clear glossy precum. “Need to ask him about Y/N and what the situation is there.”
A dreadful ball of weight pummels Hyunjin from behind when he hears your name in the same sentence as ‘Chan’. Not to mention, as Jisung said, your ‘situation’ with him currently which Hyunjin doesn’t want to process. He likes being oblivious to the fact that Chan is sleeping with you. That he gets to fill you up, that he just gets to see you. Whether Jisung was telling the truth or not about you and him sleeping together, he acts as if you’re not to save himself from the reality of it.
“D-Do you really need to?” Hyunjin asks hesitantly, fumbling terribly with his words as Jisung lowers his head down and licks one long stripe from the base of Hyunjin’s cock, right to his dark pink tip.
“Yes,” he confirms, but doesn’t truly tell him why for reasons far too similar to his friend here.
After giving his answer, Jisung sinks his mouth onto Hyunjin’s cock, just half of it to tease him. Bobbing his head a couple of times causes Hyunjin’s to grab the side of the couch while the other flies to land on top of Jisung’s head.
“What if…if he doesn’t say anything?” He questions breathlessly.
Jisung pops back up, and leans over Hyunjin’s abdomen to ask him in his face, his question bears some perspective to the situation, “do you want me to blow you, or not?”
Hyunjin uses the hand that’s not ready to brace his body by the side of the couch and tucks a long lock of Jisung’s dark brown hair behind his ear, “yes.”
“Then please shut your mouth and let me,” he demands.
It wasn’t hard for Hyunjin’s eyelids to shut and squeeze together. Receiving a blowjob from Jisung always feels like he’s had his soul sucked out of him; he doesn’t know where he learned it, but isn’t complaining either because it put Hyunjin to sleep ten minutes after they cleaned themselves up. By the time he and Jisung crawled into bed together, he had forgotten having the conversation with Jisung about you and Chan. Yet, only to be reminded of it the following day when Jisung woke up at half past eleven in the morning.
He was scheduled to meet Chan at one of his favourite lunch spots nearby and was in no mood to meet him. Being the morning person he is not, Jisung found himself struggling immensely to get out of bed and Hyunjin’s long arms that were encasing him.
Although he didn’t feel like leaving, he thought it would be best to just go as it had been a while since he saw Chan last. More importantly, he needed to confront him about what’s going on. Mainly for his own piece of mind.
He remembers something in his stomach sinking when he read that text on your phone. Despite the intense shock he felt when he discovered that you and Chan were hooking up, he wasn’t able to diverge from his own feelings. Something which he struggles to get across and might depending on the outcome of the lunch with one of the people in question.
Jisung steps out of the shower with a towel around his waist as he goes to sit on the end of the bed to open some of the drawers to his dresser. He pulls out a cream coloured jersey, some underwear, and a pair of sweatpants.
The fact that he needs to borrow so many articles of clothing is just another potent reminder that he should be packing and taking an overnight bag whenever he goes to hang out with Hyunjin. Nine times out of ten, Jisung will always say he’s only coming over for the afternoon then ends up staying for more than one day at a time.
The sheets ruffle beneath Hyunjin’s body as he stirs himself awake. He sits up, bed head on full view and eyes barely open, “what are you doing?”
“Borrowing some clothes,” Jisung answers trying to ignore how hot his morning voice sounds. “I’ll bring you back some food to compensate.”
“You said that last time,” he grumbles sleepily. “I’m also down four of my favourite jerseys because of you.”
Jisung throws on the material over his top half before crawling his way on the mattress to Hyunjin. He kisses him unexpectedly yet expectedly on the lips.
“Just go back to sleep,” he whispers. “I’ll see you after.”
With his confirmation, Hyunjin’s top half flops back against the mattress before Jisung pulls the white duvet back over his body, tucking him in. He had no trouble falling back asleep when Jisung lightly brushes some strands of his hair out of his face. However, without the distraction of him touching Hyunjin, Jisung couldn’t help but feel nervous.
He already knew that you and Chan were sleeping together. That text long affirmed that. Yet for how long and what for remained to be a sickening twist of fearful questions lugging Jisung’s stomach down. He didn’t really want to hear the answers from Chan if he can even stomach that conversation. He didn’t want to hear ‘yes we’ve been fucking’ or the ‘yeah, it’s true’ answers.
In saying that, Jisung has a trait of bottomless curiosity. That itch to find out for his own personal gain was going to make or break him. At that, he dons on the matching coloured sweats, grabs his phone and wallet, and then heads out of Hyunjin’s apartment.
After a train ride away, it doesn’t take long for Jisung to arrive, and apparently not for Chan either, who was already seated, waiting for his friend. An assortment of dishes had already been brought to the table, making Jisung realise how hungry he was since breakfast was no longer.
“How the fuck did you get here so fast, you live on the other side of the city,” Jisung exclaims to him from behind as he approaches.
“Hey. I couldn’t wait any longer because I was hungry,” Chan complains in a whiny tone. “Came here earlier to order, so I couldn’t wait.”
“Good, that makes things easier because I didn’t know what I was going to get anyway,” he replies and sits down in the booth opposite Chan. He hasn't changed much. Then again, it hasn't been too long since he's seen him last. “Been busy?”
He shakes his head, “you have no idea.”
“Thought you might’ve been,” Jisung responds, eyeing him intently to see if he gives off even the subtlest signs of a lie. “Haven’t seen you in almost a month, what’ve you been up to?”
Chan shrugs, “work and tutoring some of these students at the University.”
Jisung gives a firm nod, believing him and understanding how tiresome that must be to help teach students. It’s not until he pauses and realises that Uni semesters haven’t started yet. Even summer semester students are on break. He could’ve called him out on his bullshit now to see what answers he would get, but for the sake of wanting to find out other information, he keeps that to himself.
“Shit, sounds tough,” Jisung sympathises with him, or at least tries to if he was lying.
“How ‘bout you?”
“Same old. Working - you’re still coming to Jeju right?” He asks on a different subject.
“Yeah, of course. I took leave for it,” Chan answers as a puzzled look then befalls on his face. For a moment, his eyes narrow at Jisung, or rather his chest, trying to decipher what’s wrong with the picture he’s currently seeing.
“What?” He asks, trying to follow his gaze.
“You and Hyunjin have the same jersey,” Chan points out, realising what the flaw was.
“Oh, I know, that loser keeps copying everything I wear,” Jisung quickly plays it cool because unbeknownst to Chan, it is in fact Hyunjin’s jersey.
“Why are you wearing a scarf by the way?” Jisung tries to direct the attention away from himself
He hadn’t noticed the black item wrapped warmly around Chan’s neck until he began to panic whilst digging up something else to switch topics. The heat Jisung feels like he’s already being dragged under was starting to make him feel uneasy.
“The same reason you’re wearing a jersey on a thirty degree day,” Chan fires back just as fast but more nonchalantly to just about make Jisung sweat.
It forces him to wonder what on earth this reason is that his friend is talking about, and why he’s being so cryptic.
His face twists into confusion, mildly surprised when he realises Chan is trying to clock him for something that he doesn’t even know about or what for. Then again, it’s Chan. When is he not this observant?
“And what reason is that?” He responds with an accusatory tone.
Chan doesn’t answer, not directly. He only lifts his chin up slightly and points to his own throat, confusing the hell out of Jisung as to what he means. When it’s clear that the message can’t cross his mind, Chan rolls his eyes, and reaches into his pockets to take out his phone. He pulls up the selfie camera mode and hands it to Jisung to look at.
Apart from seeing his own reflection, he can see something else; a few splotches of dark, reddish marks littered all over his throat. At first he thought he had a rash, but wasn’t too sure what he was looking at. However, upon closer inspection, he moves the camera a bit closer to his throat and takes a photo on Chan’s phone to see it better.
After his quick analysis, Jisung knew instantly what they were. More importantly, who it came from. Hickies, and from none other than the only person he’s been messing around with, Hyunjin. Jisung didn’t even bother covering them up.
He hastily hands Chan’s phone back after deleting the photo, “so what?”
“Suppose you forgot you had them, judging by your reaction,” Chan guessed correctly, completely stumping Jisung who’s nearly lifting his own body off his seat as he tries to come up with an argument.
“Well…I suppose you didn’t know that I know you and Y/N are fucking which explains the scarf too but here we are!” He blurts out before he even has time to think about stopping the words from coming out of his mouth.
Chan’s hand stalls over the pot of stew while Jisung’s lips are pursed together. All the colour in his face has drained, almost making him feel lightheaded that he just said that out loud. In saying that, this is exactly the topic he wanted to discuss - you and Chan. He just wasn’t expecting the conversation to meander in such a way that nearly exposes himself and threw him way off the track of ever raising the subject.
“And what makes you think that?” Chan resumes ladling some of the hot stew into his bowl of rice.
Jisung knows that you can’t unring a bell so makes the split decision and decides to come clean, “I was using Y/N’s phone for something, and that’s where I saw a text message from you, hinting that you guys were sleeping together.”
“Ah,” Chan recalls immediately at the sudden confession. “From that little truth or dare game you, her and Hyunjin played?”
Jisung’s jaw unhinges, staring across the table towards his friend who seems to be a search engine for the topic of ‘everything Jisung has done lately.’ Nearly every minute that passes, Chan slaps him with a new fact that his friend wasn’t expecting him to know.
“You - but, how did- did Hyunjin-“
Chan’s already shaking his head before Jisung can muster a proper sentence, “Hyunjin never said a word. In fact he hasn’t been replying to my texts so I haven’t heard from him.”
“Then…then Y/N?”
“Well it couldn’t have been you or anyone else that was there.”
Jisung isn’t angry. He’s just shocked that he keeps getting one upped. Chan finding out that Jisung had a threesome with two of his best friends - one of them who he’s been fucking for some time now too - was far more of a juicy topic than just you and Chan seeing each other casually, which Jisung still doesn’t know the full details of.
“Said she had never cum like that in her entire life,” Chan adds, burying Jisung another meter or so deeper into this hole of new scandalous information.
His body freezes over. Suddenly, it’s not thirty degrees and everything feels cold. Jisung doesn’t ever really hear Chan talk about his sex life. Even when he was in a relationship with his ex, each of his friends tried to dissect as many details about it as they could. But they were never successful. That was a result of keeping things as private and low key as possible.
Nevertheless, Chan’s crude and very straightforward words had knocked Jisung right off his feet. The fact that you had told him what must’ve been very clear details of that night at Hyunjin’s was a sign that it still lingered on your brain. Part of his ego secretly swells with joy because of it.
“Then I felt like I needed to outdo you guys after that,” he adds.
“What do you mean?” Jisung questions with a tone of an impending doom that looms over him.
Chan smiles sweetly, memories stirring of that night in particular he had with you. It had to be one of the best times by far to him, “you know what I mean.”
Jisung’s skin stings with scorching hot jealousy; he knows exactly what Chan means. The fact of the matter is that he can’t believe he’s saying these types of things to him. Then again, there’s only one reason why Jisung would be so affected by it and he didn’t want to display that in front of Chan without figuring out what it means. But whatever it is that’s tugging at the organ beating hard and fast in his chest, makes him furious.
“Alright then,” he replies unfazed as he possibly could, swallowing the tough pill before realising there was one other thing he wanted to mention. “Suppose you guys are still seeing each other.”
Chan looks Jisung right in his eyes as he slowly retracts the spoon out of his mouth, “maybe.”
“So yes then.”
“What does it mean to you?” He tests him, almost sadistically.
“It means nothing to me,” Jisung answers rather bitterly and nastily, his entire aura switching up before he finds a new tether to lure the spotlight away from himself. “Just the fact that I told the others about you two, and they made a bet.”
Chan looks up, “a bet?”
“None of them believed me, so they made a bet to see whether you guys were or not even though I said so.”
If he didn’t have food in his mouth, Chan would’ve laughed, instead a disgruntled chuckle came out along with a couple of specs of his rice, “course they wouldn’t! Why would they believe that the two polar opposite people would be screwing behind everyone’s back?”
“You're not mad?” Jisung checks to be sure.
He shakes his head, “course not, dunno if Y/N won’t be though. She said she likes keeping things pretty private-“
“Clearly not if she told you she had a threesome,” Jisung cuts him off at that point.
“Well, there’s some exceptions to that,” Chan shrugs, finishing off his bowl of rice. “I don’t know if this means anything to you but, she wouldn’t shut up about sleeping with you and Hyunjin. She told me every single detail like for instance, when you and Hyunjin made out-“
The tongs fall out of Jisung’s tight grip and clatter onto the table. He brings his hands up to his eyes, covering his entire face to hide whatever embarrassing feelings that start to simmer on the surface. However, Chan didn’t seem to care and continued on with his points to prove.
“-how she liked it when you went down on her, how you watched Hyunjin fuck her - I told you what I meant about the details, right? Anyway,” he says. “She was raving about it. And yet, when she and I started seeing each other casually, she said that she didn’t want me to tell anyone else. That I needed to take what we have to the grave.”
Jisung removes his hands away from his face and looks down at his own food, unsure if he can stomach any more of it with the way the conversation has been handled. The more he talks and thinks about you, the more he feels like he’s being filled up with this bad gloomy feeling. He has to wonder if Chan is just being plain cruel to him by dumping all of his thoughts and information onto him.
He has to wonder, would it have been better to stay oblivious rather than being teased with snippets of what you’ve been saying to Chan these past few weeks. Hearing about how much you enjoyed yourself with him and Hyunjin yet haven’t directly spoken to them since that night.
“What are you saying?” Jisung questions, tired with the bullshit that’s starting to spike in their discussion.
“The fact that she wants to keep our…activities a secret from people and rather them not find out about us, yet is the first to speak highly of what you, her and Hyunjin did, means something more than you think.”
More than he thinks? Jisung can’t understand what that could’ve possibly meant. He sits there, bewildered and stumped. Unsure of what else to say.
“Right,” he responds.
Chan watches him warily, trying to gauge his behaviour as he decides to change the topic, “so, what’s on the table for this bet?”
Jisung quickly pries himself away from his messy mind and answers, “losers have to buy a days’ worth of food when we go to Jeju.”
Chan nods, impressed as he reaches for more meat on the grill and loads it into his bowl, “even less of a reason to be mad. Looks like I’ll be eating for free either way.”
"Yeah, looks like it."
The span of Jisung's vocabulary seemed to fail him. That and the fact that he didn't really want to talk anymore. Yes, it was good to see one of his best friends, but the circumstances that developed throughout their lengthy conversation made him wish he stayed in bed with Hyunjin just the extra bit longer so he would have to cancel lunch.
He managed to finish off small bowls of food to not make himself appear out of character. One whiff of anything remotely aberrant on Jisung's behalf, and Chan would hold him hostage in the restaurant until he tells him what's wrong. Despite that, Chan noticed something off anyway.
He saw the way Jisung's face fell when he confirmed that he was sleeping with you. He saw how his shoulders drooped and then picked up when he mentioned that you told him about the night at Hyunjin's. He saw how defensive and sceptical Jisung became whenever he would just simply mention you.
He saw that Jisung was hiding something.
When both friends had finished enjoying their meals, they were greeted with a downpour of rain that would have them seeking refuge under the veranda of the restaurant once they were outside. Just before they bid farewell to each other, Chan quickly turns to Jisung and calls out.
“It’s okay if you like her,” he says out of nowhere. “Y/N and I are not what you might think we are and we made it clear to each other that we never will be. There’s nothing between her and I, just so you know.”
Jisung stares at him, not showing any emotions on his face even though deep down, his brain and insides are whirring with emotions he can't even fathom, “I don’t like her like that.”
Chan laughs at him, unfazed with the sudden tension that seems to be slicing through them, “keep telling yourself that. See you next week.”
Through the deluge of rain and shadows from the dark, dense clouds above, Chan runs off in the opposite direction to where he needs to head home. Jisung stands there defeated and shocked that Chan is onto his tail that he likes you. He knew that heading into meeting up with him meant that the truth was going to come out one way or the other. Suppose it was just not on his terms.
It stirs many thoughts as he throws his hood up and ducks out into the rain to head to the train station and back to the safety of Hyunjin.
When he returns, Jisung keys in the passcode to unlock the door to the apartment, and is smothered with a waft of a sweet decadent scent. Standing in the kitchen, Hyunjin was at the stove flipping over what looked to be pancakes which suddenly reminded Jisung-
“Fuck, oh my god. The food, I forgot to even order it,” Jisung groans when he closes the door behind him.
Hyunjin turns the element dial on low and spins around to lean on the counter, away from the stove tops, "it's okay. I felt like something sweet anyway."
Jisung sighs. It felt right to be back with Hyunjin once more even though he had only been out for a couple of hours. In saying that, his conversation with Chan was good but draining. It’s not that he doesn’t like him for telling him the truth, there’s absolutely no doubt about that. Chan is and will always be his friend.
There is no emotional connection between you and him and that’s all that matters to Jisung. However, it’s just the truth in itself that he has an issue with - you hooking up with Chan every now and then that is. It makes him feel uneasy and almost makes him feel like he’s doing something immoral by just sitting back and watching it happen.
The reality stings where he doesn’t like it so pushes himself from the edge of the bench and walks into Hyunjin’s body to retreat from his thoughts. Slightly taken aback but not oblivious to the strange display of emotions Jisung is presenting, Hyunjin sets the spatula down beside him and hugs his friend back.
“You okay?” He questions, concern dripping all over his face.
Jisung nods his head on his chest, “yeah. Just socialising, now I’m tired.”
It wasn’t a lie, but not the truth either. Regardless, Hyunjin takes his word for it without thinking twice about it. He had completely forgotten why Jisung had gone to see Chan for in the first place.
“Wanna nap together?”
“Didn’t you just wake up?” Jisung pulls one arm away from Hyunjin’s body while the other still rests there so that he can rub his eyes.
"Well," Hyunjin looks away from him. "That's beside the point. Just...missed you is all too.”
"Cute," he grumbles, ignoring what the weight of those words truly means. "I should pack for next week though because knowing me, I'll leave everything until the last minute."
Hyunjin lets out a long sigh. He hasn't even thought about putting a suitcase together yet either, "true. I should probably start packing as well."
"Okay then let’s both get ready," Jisung looks up at him before leaning in to plant a soft kiss on Hyunjin's lips, slowly pulling away and says quietly; "see you in Jeju."
Hyunjin responds, look at him, “see you in Jeju.”

Mum preferred her noodles so I got the takeaway (S$5 + S$0.30 container) Minced Meat Noodle (肉脞面) from 85 Redhill Teochew Fishball Noodles at Sun Plaza. Hers is mee pok (面薄), characterized by its flat and yellow appearance and not the usual mee kia (幼面) or thin yellow noodles. The dry style noodles came with meat balls, fish dumpling, braised mushrooms, sliced and minced pork garnished with a whole lot of spring onions.
A few stalls away, I ordered my burgers from Ordinary Burgers. For the first one, I took up the Classic Beef Burger Meal (S$10.60) which adds French fries and a can of drink for S$3 extra. A freshly grilled smashed beef patty, made with 100% premium farm raised Australian beef and topped with Australian sauce. No idea what they meant by Australian sauce but it tasted like ketchup and mayonnaise with a dash of chilli powder in it.
The Spicy Chicken Burger (S$6) came with a crispy flour battered chicken, flash fried golden and marinated in a blend of hot sauce with a dash of purple mayo and fresh lettuce. While the patty is juicy and lightly spicy, the exterior looks over-fried. The purple mayonnaise seems more like a gimmick and tasted just like the plain white version.

Dunes & Waters, part 40
PART 1 • PREVIOUS PART • NEXT PART
They spend the day in Cairo.
“Do what you want, Remus,” Kingsley says, resigned, “Just… don’t let him out of your sight.”
“Wasn’t planning to,” Remus answers and Kingsley looks so disturbed by the notion that Remus thinks it came across different than he meant it.
They behave like tourists - a silly thing, from people with over a decade of combined research experience in Egyptian matters. But the day is hot, and Cairo is lovely, and Remus licks melting ice cream from Sirius’ cone to try the flavour. It’s cherry. He thinks he’s in love.
Sirius is dressed in wide-bottomed, floral-patterned shorts, a white shirt with its collar open. Sunglasses perched atop his head. It’s the same outfit droves of tourists wear, but on none other does it look like that. Like it was made just for him, like the purple swirls of blossom only bloomed to inspire the designer so they could make the clothes Sirius would wear. A strand of hair falls over his face so prettily Remus would be convinced it was purposeful if not for the fact that he saw Sirius roll out of bed that morning and do nothing to it.
He can’t believe that he gets to fall asleep and wake up next to that, that he gets to watch that mind at work.
“The new moon is on the fourth,” Sirius says over a shared plate of Fūl. (The smell made Remus’ mouth water as they passed the restaurant, someone at one of the tables eating a portion. They had to stop.)
“When did you have time to check that?”
“The date? I knew it already.”
There’s no reason to, for Sirius. “Why?”
“What do you mean why. You know why.” The words come with such precise eye contact Remus can’t even try to misunderstand.
“But… why?” He asks again, this time with different meaning.
“Remus, you know why.” Sirius answer, and the words are the same but they are so, so different.
Remus thinks he does. Sees it in the mornings as they wake up, side by side, and in their office as they work together, and in their apartment as they live together. He’s not sure when it changed, from nothing but two people occupying one space to this, but the change is obvious and, from a distance, startling.
Doesn’t have the words for what it is, not in any of the languages he can understand. Not yet. He hopes soon.
“Will you make it? The potion?”
“I’m not very good at that, unfortunately,” Remus admits. He has to, because it’s true. And because he can’t mess up his research for the sake of appearing more competent than he is, but saying it to Sirius? Mortifying. Makes him wish he paid more attention when his mum tried to teach him.
“I can, then, if you don’t want to hire someone.”
“Let’s check what the Box says on the inside, first. Don’t want to wast time if it’s something silly, like a hair potion.”
“Her hair was rather lovely,” Sirius laughs. “But I doubt it. You don’t go through all the trouble she’s gone through if it’s not important. Will that be enough time for you to translate?”
It will be. He’s looking forward to it, to getting back to their office and working on it again, but it’s bittersweet with finishing this holiday they made themselves, lazy days and long night and Sirius, Sirius, Sirius.

What’s one food/drink in your world that sounds amazing
Do they have any musical instruments, if so is it based off of any really world stuff?
Tahen cultures have all sorts of taboo around fire. This is taken to an extreme in Ranai, where open fires are completely forbidden and one must own a special permit to tend a cooking fire. As a result, Ranai cuisine is renowned for it's wealth of raw, pickled, and otherwise marinated foods. Bcause Ranai's territory is an archipelago where fish and seafood is the main source of protein, makwa, acid-cooked fish akin to our world's ceviche, is a staple. Real-life ceviche being delicious, it is only logical that fictional ceviche would also be*.
Bird-fish makwa is an ancient traditional meal of the archipelago. It has three main ingredients: gruel of uciwici, an oat-like, distinctively purple grain rich in anthocyanins, dried and salted kelp, and shrimp and crustacean meat marinated in sumac vinegar. Eggs, herbs, and tart fruits are sometimes added as toppings. Bird-fish makwa most salient tastes are tartness from the sumac vinegar with salt and umami from the seafood and kelp, on a base note of mild and nutty sweetness reminiscient of brown rice from the mashed uciwici. The name of this recipe is a mistranslation of the meal's name from Wetki to Ranaite Tahen.
Jimeleu makwa is a classic ceviche which puportedly originates from the town of Jimeleu, where the soils and climate are conducive to the growth of citrus trees. Jimeleu ceviche consists of diced white fish acid-cooked in lime juice with horseradish, white beans, and cold-cooked uciwici grains. The marinade is usually clear, with a green tinge from the lime and horseradish. Common variants add cold fish broth or cream of green peas to water the ceviche into a soup. Jimeleu makwa is sour and spicy, and variants with cream of green peas have a distinctive sweetness.
Cici-Uli makwa is reminiscient of tataki or carpaccio. A large, white-meat fish is cut into filets which are marinated in a mixture of sumac vinegar, oil, and seasonings (including, but not limited to, salt, horseradish, and tart fruits akin to pincherries). The marinated filet is then cut into very thin slices and served with crunchy seeds and sliced sweet onion. Only the external edge of the fish has cooked: the main flavor of Cici-Uli makwa is that of the raw fish itself. This type of makwa requires very fresh fish.
*Note that I have not tried to make these The Most Palatable Possible - especially the first one!
---
The answer to the second question is a bit less interesting. In short: yes, they do have music instruments! However, I am profoundly not musically inclined and this (as well as sports) is a thing where I show my biases as an individual: I have done roughly 0 musical worldbuilding, and it is unlikely that I will ever do more than the bare minimum (when I remember that the world should, to feel alive, have some music). About Ranaites, I can say that they have a variety of instruments, especially winds and percussions. Bamboo is an important material for their woodwinds and percussion instruments. A large shell is used as a traditional wind instrument. I imagine they have some sort of relatively simple string instrument, and a slightly more complex one with better acoustic imported by members of the Oumdashen diaspora. Ranaites have inherited a taste for passive music such as windchimes from the archipelago's original inhabitants, the Wetki. Shell windchimes are a popular fixture of gardens throughout the archipelago.

A Night At The Christmas Market - Modern! Helaena Targaryen x Reader
Summary: You and your wife, Helaena, spend your first Christmas as newlyweds at a Christmas market.
Pairing: Modern! Helaena Targaryen x Fem! Reader
Warnings: fluff
Word Count: 1.6k words
A/N: hoe hoe hoe! a very merry late Christmas and Happy New Year in advance from me to you :) this one is for all the Helaena girlies out there. I hope you enjoy! ;)
lovely dividers credited to @firefly-graphics !
Snow was falling across the city of King’s Landing, as you and your wife, Helaena, bundled in the most comfortable winter parkas imaginable - her in pink, and you in purple - made your way to the largest Christmas market in Westeros at the heart of the city.
Helaena thought you had never looked more beautiful, cheeks flushed and slightly puffed lips from the cold, yet eyes flashing with excitement as you took in the sight of the streets decked out with Christmas decorations. For as long as you remember, growing up in the Vale, a mostly mountainous country area, you always wanted to come to live in the city. While you did miss the rolling green fields and idyllic lifestyle sometimes, you found something way better here. Grinning, you took Helaena’s hand, and she smiled at you, eyes shining with affection. The love between the both of you was as bright as the morning snow.
When you finally reached the Christmas market, you were so excited that you practically dragged Helaena from stall to stall, seeking some food to nourish your bellies. Helaena indulged you, wanting to see you happy. After all, she had been to the Christmas market so many times as a little girl with her brothers, Aemond, Aegon, and Daeron, that she didn’t feel the need to get excited over everything.
She did, however, love watching you get excited. It was one of the most beautiful things in the world, aside from getting to see you wake up next to her in the morning.
Armed with a handful of small bites that you had gotten from the stalls, you and Helaena found a table near the outskirts of the table area set aside for people who wished to dine on the Christmas market’s many edible delights. You opened the bags to be greeted by a mouthwatering smell: deep fried cheese balls, fried calamari and onion rings, steaming hot reindeer stew, a meaty slice of honey glazed ham, some roast turkey, two cups of hot chocolate with extra marshmallows, and fresh out of the oven gingerbread cookies.
“By the Seven, how are we going to finish all this?” Helaena laughed. You grinned, opening your first packet of food. “You married a woman with a bottomless appetite, you know. If you don’t want anything, I’ll be happy to snatch it up.”
“Okay, okay, you blackhole,” Helaena said affectionately, before unwrapping some cheese balls. She was surprised when halfway through, you slung a hand around your shoulder, pulling her closer to you. “Hey, you’re okay with all this, right?” You asked her in a gentle voice. Helaena had always had anxiety when it came to large crowds, and you didn’t want to overwhelm your wife.
A radiant smile slowly spread across Helaena’s features, as she looked at you fondly, kissing you on the lips. You returned the kiss eagerly, tongue tangling with hers, before the both of you pulled away, cheeks red not just from the cold now. “I’m fine, my love. Really. You know, I used to come to this market every year with my brothers?”
You tilted your head, an inquisitive gleam in your eyes. “Really? What was it like?” Helaena mulled over her response, “Chaotic.” You laughed, somehow it didn’t surprise you after you had met Helaena’s brothers. Your first question to Helaena after meeting her family was how her mother managed to keep up with all of them. Helaena had shrugged playfully as the sounds of Aegon drunk tackling Aemond to the ground while a spectating Daeron cackled in the background echoed behind you, “I have no clue.”
“How long has it been since you last came here then?” you blew on your spoonful of reindeer stew, laden with carrots and celery, before putting it in your mouth. Helaena thought carefully while chewing on an onion ring. “I think around five years, or when Aemond moved away to further his studies at Riverrun University.”
“Well, is it less chaotic experiencing it with me then?” you asked teasingly, leaning in for Helaena to pop a calamari in your mouth. Helaena bopped you on the nose, eliciting an indignant huff from you, before she popped the calamari in your mouth. “Nope. Just as chaotic.”
The two of you finished your food, and continued strolling around the Christmas market. To both of your delight, they had somehow managed to invite and set up a husky-sledding rink here, and you and Helaena enjoyed being pulled around by the zealous huskies, though Helaena did complain a little about the snow that kept blowing in her face. You had won a game of toss-the-hoop-onto-the-reindeer’s-head, and you handed the prize - a stuffed octopus - to Helaena, who hugged it happily. Helaena stopped by some craft stores, buying some woodworked mini figurines and snowglobes.
Helaena was about to go over to a stall selling hand woven mittens when she heard your squeal. She whipped her head up, initially thinking something bad had happened, but you soon ran up to her, safe and sound, and began pulling her away. “Where are we going?” Helaena barely managed to ask, too overpowered by your eagerness. “You’ll never believe what I found!”
Helaena gave you a deadpan stare as you stopped in front of a tent. “A fortune teller? Really, love?” You rolled your eyes, “It’s not like I actually believe them. I just think it’ll be fun. Come on, pretty please?” You gave her your best puppy eyes, and she eventually relented, letting you lead her into the tent.
The fortune teller turned out to be a kindly looking old lady, wrapped in colourful shawls lined with fur. She looked at your fresh, eager face, and Helaena’s more reserved one. “Are the both of you friends?” she inquired. You shook your head, “Oh no, ma’am. We’re married, actually.”
Helaena was worried for some lashing out should the old lady turn out to be one of those conservative grandmothers, but to her relief, her wrinkly face lit up. “You are? How wonderful!” The old lady leaned forward, her voice dropping in a conspiratorial whisper. “You know, I used to have a wife too.” Your eyes widened, “Really?” The old lady nodded, a bit sadly. “Yes, she was the great love of my life after my husband had passed. Unfortunately, she followed the Stranger last year.”
You clamped your hand over your mouth, a little chagrined, as Helaena said quietly, “We’re sorry for your loss.” The old lady waved it off, her expression brightening again. “Tis’ alright, child. Let me read your fortune, how about that?” The old lady took out a deck of cards, shuffling them deftly in her hands, before spreading it out on the table before you.
“Pick two cards each,” the old lady instructed, looking at the two of you. Helaena did it quickly, you much slower, as you deliberated on which card you felt more drawn to. “Hurry up, dearest,” Helaena playfully thumped you on the arm when you took nearly two minutes to choose your second card. “I have to see which one my intuition feels most drawn to, okay!” you protested.
With the four cards drawn out, the fortune teller observed them, before laying them out in front of you. “Well, the first one here tells of a happy marriage,” the old lady looked at the both of you, her smile turning mischievous. “Though I’m sure the both of you don’t need it.” Helaena smiled slightly at that, gripping your hand under the table.
“Ah, the second one,” the old lady’s voice turned a bit serious. “It spells a bit of trouble in the future, especially in the workplace. Perhaps one of you will have a disagreement with your boss?”
You snorted, “Well, it can’t be Helly, since she runs her own business. Guess that’s for me then. I’ll live.” Helaena patted your hand soothingly, “She didn’t say it’s just for bosses. Maybe it could be me having a dispute with a customer, who knows.” “I'd rather have this fortune befall on me than you though, Helly.” You said sincerely, your eyes shining fiercely. Your wife had suffered enough throughout her life. Helaena only smiled, touched.
The old lady also shared Helaena’s smile as she moved on to the third card. “The third one is slightly more tame, don’t worry. It just speaks of travelling to an exotic place. Do the both of you have any travel plans next year?” You looked startled, turning to Helaena. “We were planning for that trip to Qohor, so that you can see the art of their hand woven and dyed tapestries. Helly, she’s got it on the nose.” Helaena stifled a small laugh at your amazement. “Yes, dear. She really did. What does the fourth card say?” The old lady’s finger moved to turn up the fourth card, and her eyes widened.
“Oh, the fourth one,” the old woman exclaimed, with clear joy in her voice. “It says that…a child will be coming into your lives. And very soon at that!”
“A child?” Helaena’s eyebrows furrowed. “A child!” you piped up excitedly next to her, turning to your wife. “Maybe next year we’ll finally find that dream daughter we always wanted to adopt. It’s a sign, Helly, it’s a sign!” You were nearly jumping out of your seat, as Helaena tried in vain to quell your elation, while the fortune teller looked at the young couple with a knowing smile.
And indeed, during the next year’s Christmas market, a new addition had joined your little family, her dark eyes gleaming with impish excitement as your new four year old daughter, Irina, dashed around happily in the snow, while you and Helaena sat at one of the benches at the side of the Christmas market, smiling as you rest your head on her shoulder, relishing in your little family, and your joy.
“Merry Christmas, my love.”
“Merry Christmas, my darling.”

RODANGI CUISINE
(This is the traditional food of Balthazaar's people!)
OVERVIEW
Rodanga is a territory of Matuzu Kingdom, located in the Midland Savannah region. This region is prone to long droughts and locust swarms, which can decimate crops and cause sudden famine. Because of this, the notion of wasting food is deeply offensive to the Rodangi people, and they make a point to consume every calorie they can get while they can still get it. Their traditional cuisine is notoriously fattening, with a generous use of lard, butter, fried foods, and sugars. Tourists who visit Rodanga always leave heavier than they arrived, but luckily for them, being fat is a point of pride in this culture.
HAM ROLLS
When people think of Rodangi cuisine, the first thing that comes to mind are ham rolls. This dish is prepared by melting cheese on long ham slices, then rolling the slices up with a mix of diced vegetables inside (corn, tomatoes, and green onions are common). The rolls may or may not be fried afterwards. Either way, they are drenched in white gravy to complete the dish. This greasy, salty food is not exactly healthy, but no one can deny its delicious taste.
SPICY STICKS ‘N STRIPS
A cut of meat (usually a poultry drumstick) is battered with corn flour and deep-fried in tallow, then spiced with hot chili powder. This spicy meat is traditionally eaten alongside fried yam strips and white gravy dipping sauce. This is a popular lunchtime meal for Rodangi’s lower classes, as chicken and yams are the city’s cheapest and most abundant foods. Upper classes tend to substitute the chicken drumstick for a leg of goat or ostrich, but the preparation of the dish remains the same.
RODANGI BURGER
There are many styles of burger around Looming Gaia. The Rodangi-style burger contains ground buffalo meat, cabbage, purple onions, and a generous amount of melted cheese. Chilies and sugar are added to the meat to give it a distinct sweet and spicy flavor, and the bun is topped with crispy buffalo bits. Most Rodangi citizens work labor-intensive jobs such as farming and ranching. This large burger is easy to prepare and provides all the calories they need for the day, so it is a popular staple food for the average family.
GRILLED SUNFLOWER
Sunflowers are an abundant crop all throughout the Midland Savannah. Most peoples harvest the seeds and discard the rest of the flower, but the Rodangi are not so wasteful. They prefer to grill the sunflower head until the seeds turn to mush, then slather it with a garlic and butter glaze to make a tasty meal. Just one large sunflower head can feed a whole family of middleweight peoples, such as humans. But heavyweight peoples, such as centaurs, often demolish the whole thing themselves. If the seeds are left in-tact before grilling, they provide a ton of healthy fat, fiber, and calories with every bite. This dish is a daily staple for Rodanga’s poor, but wealthier classes also eat it on occasion.
OSTRICH EGG
Chickens and guineafowl are the most commonly ranched birds in Rodanga, but ostriches are the most famous. These birds don’t lay eggs as often as others, but when they do, the egg is large enough to feed an adult human for an entire day. Fried ostrich eggs are a common breakfast for Rodanga’s upper class people, as they are much more expensive than other eggs. They are traditionally sprinkled with black pepper and parsley. Lower classes tend to eat them only on special occasions, such as holidays.
PLUM MILK
Plum milk is made by mashing plums into a paste, straining out the sweet juice, and stirring it in with cow’s milk until it turns pink. The drink is then topped with whipped cream and candied fennel seeds. It’s said to be as delicious as it is beautiful, and its bright color makes it particularly popular with Rodangi children. This drink may be served cold or warm. Just one cup provides a big shot of sugar and fat, so plum milk is considered a whole meal by itself.
PUDDING CAKE
Considered the quintessential dessert of the Rodangi people, pudding cake is a sweet, dense cake made from cornmeal, sugar, milk, and eggs. It has a filling of sweet lard-based pudding and an even sweeter glazing of honey on the outside. It may be eaten on its own, but most often it is eaten right after dinner. How the Rodangi make room in their stomachs for such a rich dessert remains a mystery!
OTHER DISHES
Sugared locusts are also a traditional Rodangi food. You can read about them on the Matuzan Cuisine article.

Tropicabug Snakification Modifications!
I once again got to flex my TextureLab skills by recreating the grilled pineapple and prawn patterns to use for the body, and I think that turned out nicely! I also spent a fair amount of time turning the prawn model into horns, which I am very pleased with the end result of.
I didn't mind the original pineapple teeth at all, but with my new body texture they blended into it too much. Making them purple onion slices helped them to stand out more.
Though to be fair, I should keep in mind more that the whole point of snakifications is to mix and match looks. That said, I've hit the randomizer on a few grumpuses and been pretty pleased with the result most of the time.
