There is something legitimately worrying about people censoring words like murder when they write even the most mildly dark stories
#Something something equating the word for an act to approval of an act being a dangerous slope#or something of the sort#what the hell is even going on#like listen there is nothing about the post I’m referring to (which is not unique in its censoring) that is even mildly concerning#so why tf does the writer feel okay writing about murder but feeling like they have to censor the damn word#censorship#fandom#writing#purity culture#purity culture is damaging us all lbr

What's the use of kissing then? What function does it serve other than as part of foreplay leading to sex? Oh what? People kiss without wanting to have sex because kissing feels good and can be an important part of a loving/romantic relationship? Well no, cos according to your logic, consenting to kissing is consenting to sex.
The puritanical moralising of the anti-choice "don't have sex if you don't want kids!!1!" stance just exposes their virulent misogyny... they assume (incorrectly) that most people seeking an abortion as young, single, women sleeping around and/or having sex before marriage (the reality is that the majority of people who seek abortion are in a relationship AND already have 1 or more children) and they view that as slutty and shameful and see having to carry an unwanted pregnancy as both a deserved punishment for immoral behaviour and a threat to discourage such immoral behaviour.
Their insistence on "waiting" (until marriage) to have sex is closely tied in to the purity culture that pushes abstinence-only sex ed and it absolutely fails to even consider the idea of sex *after* marriage. Even if you manage to enforce your moral puritanism and make people (well, lbr here, women (or people they view as women)) wait until they are married before having sex... what then?
What happens when you've gotten married and had a few kids and you don't want to keep on having kids indefinitely?
What about the people (married or otherwise) who have kids and don't want any more (the people who, in fact, make up the majority of abortion-seekers)? Are you genuinely telling people they should never have sex again for the rest of their lives? (Or until menopause hits). That married couples who've had as many children as they want should never have sex with each other ever again?
Not to mention the people for whom carrying a pregnancy would be extremely damaging and/or fatal? People with health issues or disabilities, both mental and physical, people with conditions requiring medication that is harmful to foetuses. You're saying these people must remain celibate their entire lives? Never allowed to have sex? All to accede to *your* personal moral judgements about sex?
And what of people living in poverty, unable to afford the costs of pregnancy, childbirth and parenting? No sex ever for them either, I guess.
When you break it down like this, the real ugliness behind the anti-choice movement's moralising is clear. The only people who they think should be allowed to have sex is people they judge to be acceptable. Not the poor. Not the ill or disabled. Not the unmarried. In short, sex is reserved only for people like them/people who think like them.
Sex (and by extension, children) is acceptable only for those who meet their moral standards (except of course where pregnancy and childbirth is used as a punishment for those who transgress their moral standards).
And they claim abortion is eugenics. The hypocrisy.
Question for pro-lifers.
Why do so many of you believe that banning abortion is the best way to stop abortion? Would you consider instead focusing on comprehensive sex education, more affordable healthcare and making having a child sustainable?
