it's pretty fucked that some stores like target will only sell coke-owned water like smartwater and dasani. so if you're out shopping and you need a little sip of nice refreshing water you have to either break your boycott or go thirsty. except ☝️ there is another option and it's called stealing

hello tumblr friends who live in my phone i just wanted to pop in real quick and let everyone know that I Am (somehow) Still Alive since i mentioned being very sick last month and did not want anyone 2 think i had finally Expired. wish i could say i'm doing better this month but while im definitely nowhere near as miserable as i was in April, i've been spending this month trying to deal with Sickness Aftershocks that have been making all of my long term autoimmune diseases/health issues in general flare up randomly really bad at pretty much completely random times and i also have a whole new fun set of similar feeling but definitely different and 100x worse physical health problems and its been extremely difficult to try and power through all of it like i'm used to doing for the 26 years i have been alive 😔 but i'm still hangin in there. idk how at this point lmao. subconscious fight or flight survival mode i guess. i'm like 99% sure i somehow caught one of the new covid mutations in April unfortunately despite the lifelong Agoraphobia and 3+ years of effort i've done to do literally everything in my ability to stay protected against it but. thats life i guess, u leave the house one or two times masked up hand sanitizer ready to go sweating from being overheated wearing clothes that cover as much of ur skin as u can stand and other people just Dont. so. i knew it would probably happen to me eventually i just was really hoping it would not! but. i will continue surviving as best i can because i dont have any other option or choice. but that is why i've unintentionally been distant here and online in general. it was already extremely difficult getting myself out of bed and taling showers and changing clothes and brushing my teeth and remembering to eat food and drink water before but now its reached a difficulty that i literally can't have any control over most of the time and its a lot of physical/mental/emotional effort to even tap reblog on a post online or respond to a text more so than it was previously. which again was already. very difficult to power through.
anyways! uh! yeah. life update i guess. i hope you guys are genuinely doing much better than i am this year and i hope you're all able to stay safe and as relatively healthy as you can. and please please please please at the very least wear some form of a face mask in public even if you're outside and not in a tiny building. i dont say that to shame anyone here i just feel like there are a lot of well meaning good people who arent fully aware that in the US at least the pandemic is very much not over and people like myself are suffering and dying because of that and we cant be the only group of people that are still doing our best to stay protected when we have to leave the house. if you're able to get some i highly recommend N95 type face masks because supposedly they offer one of the best chances of protection as long as you're wearing it correctly and it fits your face well; there's a really great non-profit organization called Project N95 that has an official website and a huge list of various face masks in a bunch of different sizes and types to order if you don't know where to find some high quality ones and they also have a form you can fill out and submit to request an order of free masks if you can't afford to buy them; their money donation pool goes towards providing masks (and some air purifiers i think?) to low income people/organizations/work places that doesn't have the funds or resources to constantly buy expensive batches of masks and their website is super detailed and well organized and has a long list of visual and written resources and information about different mask types, ways you can help keep yourself/your community safe, etc. so i highly recommend them if you are like me and are very stressed and anxious and confused about all of that information all the time. their site should be the at the top of the search results if you google N95 Project, it has a dot org site url so thats another way you can tell its the official site.

Improve Your Health And Well Being With Better Drinking Water System Installations On Your Property
There are many choices available when it comes to drinking water. We have the option of tap water, mineral water, bottled water, or even filtered water. Then why should we get a drinking water system installed in our homes, commercial, or industrial properties? This is the question we frequently encounter whenever the topic of drinking water system comes up.
We all know water makes up 70% of our bodies. Yet only a small percentage of water present in the environment is safe, even though water covers almost two-thirds of the earth’s surface. Only a small percentage can be used as drinking water.
Even though water purifiers treat that water, the tap water that we consume on a daily basis might not be as pure as we perceive it to be. It still contains contaminants such as bacteria, heavy metals, and chemicals like chlorine, etc.
The drinking water system, or water filtration system, helps to filter and purify the water by removing harmful contaminants so that it is safe to consume.
The benefits that a drinking water system provides are as follows:
Reduce health problems: Contaminated water causes a variety of health problems and diseases, including skin problems, hair damage, and many serious issues. By installing a water system, you can drink clean and pure water, which keeps you healthy and fit.
Money Saving: The water you might be consuming from the government-filtered system most of the time becomes salty, which can sometimes make you sick.
With a water system, you don’t need to worry about any problems that would require regular maintenance and plumbing servicing.
Prevents Disasters: Contaminants often accumulate in the pipers, causing damage to your plumbing system in turn.
Due to this, they end up leaking or bursting, which causes you to lose your water supply, but with a water system, you can rest easy.
Get The Best Quality Home Water Filter From Aquavita For Your Home
Water is an essential part of our lives, and as it is so easily available, we often overlook where it is coming from or what the source of the water supply is that we get in our taps, assuming that we’re receiving the best quality water anyway.
However, there are still people for whom tap water isn’t drinkable and those who don’t consider it healthy. This has scientific reasons, as most of the time, the tap water that we consider clean is not 100% clean.
This is why a home water filter system is necessary for your and your family’s good health. A water filter or filtration helps to prevent you from any water-related illnesses and diseases.
That is why a home water filter system is a must, especially if you have infants, elderly adults, or a family member with a poor immune system.
Home Water System - Key To A Long, Healthy Life
In today’s ever-evolving and growing technology, environmental concerns and health issues are also growing rapidly and need more awareness. If we’re looking for quality in everything else, then why should water be left behind?
The quality of the water that we’re drinking matters a lot, as the quality of water directly affects our health and skin and our overall body as water helps our body to carry out some necessary functions.
A home water system removes various pollutants and chemicals from your water stream and provides you a free access to quality water. It all comes down to the water system you install in your house. With Aquavita's water home system, you get fresh, clean, and quality as. Our water system helps to permanently get rid of harmful substances and gives you clean water for drinking, bathing, and other primary chores in the house that require the usage of water.

Tap Water vs Distilled Water ([year] Definitive Comparison)
Want to know how tap water and distilled water are different? When should you use either water type? And which is best to drink? We've answered all these questions and more in this guide. 📌 Key Takeaways: - Tap water is water from your faucet that has been treated at a treatment plant. - Distilled water is purified water that's free from all impurities. - Distilled water is cleaner and safer than faucet water, but it's lacking healthy minerals and has a flat taste. 🆚 Main Difference Between Tap Water And Distilled Water 💡 The main difference between tap water and distilled water is that tap water contains trace levels of contaminants and impurities like heavy metals, chemicals, and minerals, while distilled water is entirely free from all impurities and contains pure H2O. 🚰 What Is Tap Water? Tap water is the water that comes out of our faucets. Most people are on a municipal water system. That means their water is treated at a local treatment plant before being delivered to their homes. The municipal water treatment process removes sediment and debris, kills microorganisms, and reduces harmful contaminants down to trace levels. However, it doesn't remove all impurities entirely, so tap water often contains small amounts of chemicals, metals, and other inorganic and organic materials. What Is Tap Water Used For? Tap water is used for everything we do around our homes. That includes washing clothes and dishes, cooking, drinking, showering and bathing, and running other water-using appliances and fixtures. 💧 What Is Distilled Water? Distilled water is tap water that has been boiled and condensed, removing all dissolved ions and impurities. Water is distilled in a distiller unit. The boiling chamber contains a heating element, which heats water until it vaporizes. The steam travels along a cooling corridor, where it condenses back into liquid form. This purified water travels through a small carbon filter and out of the distiller spout, where it's collected in a clean container. The majority of impurities have different boiling points than water, which means they remain in the boiling chamber when water evaporates. What Is Distilled Water Used For? Distilled water is typically used in situations where purified water is required. For instance, you might use this water type to fill a fish tank, a steam iron, a car cooling system, or any other appliance or unit that could be harmed if used with ordinary tap water. You can also drink distilled water, since it's free from harmful contaminants and therefore safer than tap water. However, distilled water doesn't have any specific health benefits, and it has a "flat" taste due to its lack of alkaline minerals. 🤔 How Are Tap Water And Distilled Water Different? Let's look in more detail at the differences between tap water and distilled water. Water Purity Distilled water is purer and cleaner than tap water. A tap water supply typically contains chemicals, metals, and other contaminants that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) deems to be safe in trace levels. Distilled water has been treated to remove these impurities. It's free from all harmful contaminants and all healthy minerals and salts. Health Properties Tap water is technically healthier than distilled water, despite containing impurities that pose health risks, because it still contains essential minerals. While distilled water is impurity-free, it doesn't have any health benefits because it doesn't contain the trace elements that we need to survive. That doesn't necessarily mean distilled water is unhealthy, though - you should be getting all the nutrients you need in your diet anyway. Water Taste Tap water has a better taste than distilled water because of its mineral content. Tap water contains salts and minerals that give it a pleasant alkaline taste. However, it also contains chlorine, which has a chemical taste. Distilled water is chlorine-free, but it's also mineral-free, so it has a bland, "flat" taste that many people don't enjoy. So, you'll probably prefer drinking tap water compared to distilled water. Treatment Method Distilled water has been treated with a more thorough, comprehensive process than tap water. The distillation process involves boiling water until it vaporizes, then directing the water vapor into a separate chamber to condense into pure distilled water that's free from all total dissolved solids. Alongside reverse osmosis filters, water distillers are some of the most comprehensive water treatment technologies. Tap water is treated at water treatment plants, which use several more basic filtration processes to disinfect water, remove sediment and debris, and reduce harmful contaminants down to trace levels. These processes don't produce pure water, but water is deemed safe to drink according to EPA standards. Water Safety Distilled water is safer to drink than tap water because it contains only water molecules, with no potentially dangerous impurities. The distillation purification process eliminates chemicals, metals, and other possibly health-harmful contaminants, like lead, chlorine, arsenic, fluoride, and nitrate. Normal drinking water from the tap hasn't been treated with a water purification method, so it's likely to contain trace levels of these dangerous contaminants. You can still drink tap water as it's legally safe, but it's not as safe as distilled water. 🥤 Is Tap Water Or Distilled Water Better To Drink? So, comparing distilled water vs tap water, which should you drink? You might prefer distilled water if you're concerned about contaminants in your drinking water and you want the reassurance of the purest water that's guaranteed to be contaminant-free. Drinking distilled water is also a good option if you're immunocompromised and want to protect your health as much as possible with your drinking water choices. Keep in mind that distilled water isn't your only way to enjoy contaminant-free water. There are also water treatment systems, like activated carbon filters, sediment filters, and ion exchange filters, which produce filtered water that's free from many harmful contaminants but still contains naturally occurring minerals. Or, you might prefer to drink normal tap water if you don't enjoy the taste of purified water or you can't afford to purify water at home. You could always buy bottled distilled water occasionally if you only need this water type for specific other uses, like filling a fish tank. We're more inclined to recommend distilled water because it's free from harmful contaminants. But that doesn't mean distilling your water is the best choice for you. Remember that you can use other water filters to remove impurities while retaining the healthy minerals that contribute to water's pleasant alkaline taste. 👨🔧 Check out our guide to the best water distillers to find out which at-home distillation machines we recommend today. Prompt: Ok so we all know Coco is touch starved, and would be clingy af in a relationship. What about Coco x wife!reader, while she’s trying to do basic errands/chores and Coco is her shadow?
A/N: I’ve been waiting for this one. I really have. Hee hee. I just adore Coco. <3 . This piece sort of follows the story of the last two Coco x Reader pieces I have written, but it will stand-alone, just fine. And, I swear, these things just have a mind of their own. I can continue to apologize for length, and content, but, in the end... I let the story tell itself. ;) . <3 .
As a warning, I come from Vermont, where we have a plastic bag ban. Last I knew, California was the first state to have one. I don’t know how that would translate to Santo Padre, but… When I mention fabric bags, I mean reusables, and the ban is why. ^^;;;;.
Title: Worthwhile
Teaser: He’s a little rough, your Coco, foul-mouthed, and quick to anger. Untrusting, and bitchier than a woman, on his best day. But, once you have his love, you have it. All of it.
“Okay…” you murmur, slowly, eyes scanning over the paper in front of you. Fifteen items, nothing crazy. Shouldn’t take you more than an hour, tops, and that includes travel to and from the store. “I think I’ve got everything we need… And, specials included your beer, and those little frozen cream puffs.”
Beside you, Coco groans, deep and guttural. “Fuck, I love those things.”
You giggle, but keep reading. Your man is too damn cute. “Feminine products.”
“Do those count as special?” Coco genuinely sounds thoughtful, as he steps up behind you, where you are leaning over the counter top. He wraps his arms around your waist, chin coming to rest on your shoulder. “Kinda’ a necessity, ain’t they?”
Tipping your head, you glance to your husband. Seriously. This man is a treasure. “Why don’t you run for political office?” you tease, pleased when Coco chuckles.
“Yeah, my record’ll look great, on the campaign trail.”
You shrug. “You can tackle pink tax, and tax evasion, at the same time.”
Coco grins, and steals a peck off your lips. “What else you got on there, muñeca?”
“Hmmm, let’s see…” You turn back to your list, tapping the pen against your lips, thoughtfully. Spying the next item on it, you try not to let out another giggle. He’s not going to like this one. “Letty asked if we could have that cauliflower pizza thing for dinner, tonight.”
As expected, this groan is decidedly not from food lust. “Fuckin’ vegetarians. When the hell is she gonna’ get over this shit?”
“It’s just a phase, Coco,” you remind him, for the… Well, honestly, you’ve lost track. It started shortly after the wedding, Letty’s change in diet, and you’re still not convinced the two aren’t related. You’re just not entirely sure how. But, two months in, and she’s still looking healthy, so you won’t send up any alarms. “It’s very popular at her high school, right now.”
Coco scoffs, disgusted. “When the hell’d she start copyin’ other people, anyway? My girl ain’t no follower.”
The words send a shot straight to your heart. He’s a little rough, your Coco, foul-mouthed, and quick to anger. Untrusting, and bitchier than a woman, on his best day. But, once you have his love, you have it. All of it. The love he has for Leticia is the greatest proof. They may carry on like cats and dogs, but when push comes to shove, there is nothing they won’t do for one another. My girl. It brings a warmth to your soul, and a smile to your lips.
You shake it off, enough to formulate a response. “She’s figuring out how to be her own woman. Trying new things.” You shrug, not wanting to make a big deal of it. You were Letty’s age, once, of course. And, a girl, to boot. Some things, Coco just won’t be able to understand. “It’s a process.” He hums, still disgruntled, but doesn’t push out another word. “You want anything else?” you ask, holding up your list. “I’ve gotta’ get going, before I run into the football widows.”
Before you can even take a step away, Coco tightens his arms around you. “You sure you gotta’ go, though?” he asks, leaning in to brush his lips against your neck. “With the house all to ourselves, like this?”
“If I don’t go,” you start, as Coco’s touches gain intent, becoming teasing kisses. Damn him. It feels nice, you won’t lie, but there are other things on your mind, right now. Priorities.
You’re just… having trouble remembering what they are.
Oh. Yeah. Shopping.
“If I don’t go, we won’t have anything for dinner.”
Another kiss, accompanied by a barely-there swipe of tongue. You shiver, and Coco moves his lips to your ear. “We can order in,” he whispers, breath so invitingly warm against your skin.
Oh, this asshole.
“And, what are we supposed to have for breakfast, tomorrow?” you try, again. “Half an Eggo, and a pack of Skittles?”
Coco cuddles you closer, again. “Ain’t you never heard about livin’ on love, baby?” Some of his smoothest work, that is. And, it’s almost convincing. Almost. You can imagine the afternoon ahead, if you give in. Your clothes will come off, and won’t be back on until the last second, before Letty walks back through the front door. By that time, you’ll be too tired to roll your ass off the bed, let alone go grocery shopping. And, you promised Letty you’d talk Coco into that cauliflower pizza.
“Great as that sounds,” you agree, preparing to capitalize on the truth. You ease yourself away from Coco’s stubborn hold, and give him one more smooch, just to soften the blow to come. “I don’t think Letty will appreciate the sentiment.”
A third groan. You must be going for a record. “C’mon, (y/n).” Oh, he’s whining. It’s so cute, it’s unreal. “We’ll find some place that delivers that rabbit food shit.”
Unfortunately for Coco, you’re already grabbing your bag. Lucky for you. You’re still two seconds from giving him what he wants. (He just doesn’t need to know so). “I’ll be back in a while.” God willing. “If you think of anything else, call my cell.” You rush out the front door, and don’t look back. If you see the look on your husband’s face, you know you’re as good as done.
*
Well, what the shit? Coco stares at the front door as it closes, you on the wrong fucking side of it. His arms are at his sides, palms turned toward the ceiling. That went so well. He kind of can’t believe you just walked away, like that. Left him alone, and wanting. In your big, empty house.
He probably should have volunteered to tag along, instead of just chasing you off.
Fuck.
Glancing around, Coco tries to find something to do. Something to clean, at the very least. But, that’s the trouble with having moved in with you, after the wedding, he supposes. Ain’t nothing to tidy up. Not that the three of you don’t have possessions. They’re all just in their proper places. Probably Leticia’s doing, in the end. He’d had a long talk with her, before the move, that she absolutely has to keep her shit where it belongs. Your house isn’t like their house. There aren’t burn marks in the carpet, or gouges in the coffee table. Dishes go in the damned dishwasher, not left to pile up on the counter, or in the sink. Beds get made. Laundry gets folded, and put away. No more wrinkled heaps in the clothes basket. So far, the kid’s been doing good. Real good.
Coco, though? He’s never felt so unnerved in his life.
It was different when he just visited. Spent a night or two, here or there. He’d almost felt at home, then, stupid as it sounds. At home, with the knowledge he wasn’t staying. But, now? Now, the reality has settled in, and he feels so-so… out of place. There’s so much he’s struggling to adjust to.
You have a purified water system installed under the sink, where Coco is used to buying bottled water.
You have a dining room, where Coco and Letty are used to eating on the couch.
You have an extended cable package, whatever the fuck that is.
You kind of have it all, here, certainly by comparison to what Coco is used to. The best of everything. Which really makes him wonder – not for the first time – what the hell you’re doing with a dirt-poor biker for a husband? You’ve had this conversation, on multiple occasions, and you’ve explained yourself, every time. But, this time… This time, you’re not around to give that speech. You’re not around to hold him, and kiss his face, and reassure him in a way that only you can. No, you’re at the grocery store, shopping for Coco, and his kid, which was apparently a better offer than staying home with him.
Oh, nope. Nope, he’s doing it, again. He can feel it. You love him, he reminds himself. You’ve got his ring on your finger, his last name, and – God-willing – his baby in your belly. By choice. All by choice.
Coco takes a deep breath, in. Lets it back out, slowly. Tries not to get sick, for all the nerves coming up to greet him. He wraps one arm around his own torso, free hand moving up to cover his mouth.
Fuck, he hopes you get back, soon.
*
You let out a deep sigh, as you park your car in the garage. Oh, it is so good to be home, at long-last. Talk about Old Home Week. You’d run into everyone, and his brother, at the grocery store. Shopping had taken nearly twice as long as you’d meant for it to, and you just know Coco must be losing his mind, by now. You hate to think about it, in such terms, but, sometimes… Well, sometimes, Coco reminds you of a new puppy. You can’t really leave him alone, without some kind of separation anxiety creeping up on him.
Ah, well. At least he isn’t ripping down the drapes, and shredding the couch cushions.
You blink. Well. That you know of.
Shaking your head, you climb out of the car, mentally preparing to unload armloads of bags. Maybe, if you really, really try, today will be the day you can finally get all twenty bags in, in one trip.
Right. And, shortly thereafter, you can have both forearms set, and casted. Be a real turn-on, in the bedroom.
You’ve managed to grab half a dozen bags, when the door to the mud room opens. “Hey, don’t grab too many!” Letty warns, as she comes hopping down the steps. “Let us help!”
Glancing up, you smile. For having had such a rough start, Letty can be a sweet girl. You know she gets that from her father. “Well, thank you,” you reply, resting a few, fabric handles onto her outstretched hands.
Letty grins, lowering her hands to her sides, before leaning in. “Did you talk him into it?” she whispers, conspiratorially.
You snicker, and whisper back, “He isn’t getting a choice. He’s outnumbered.”
“Yes!” Her hiss of victory is hardly subtle, catching Coco’s attention as he pokes his head out the door.
“You two plottin’ against me, again?”
“Yes,” you and Letty reply, in unison, leading you to erupt into a fit of giggles.
Coco is all grins. “’Course, you are.” He strides closer, he and Letty dancing around one another as she moves into the house. You lean into the car, and retrieve a few more bags. If Coco’s out here, he might as well assist. He’s peering into the car, once you stand back up, and lets out a low whistle. “Damn, (y/n)! You buy out the whole store, or what?”
“Hardly,” you reply, dryly. You hold up your hands, offering Coco the bags. “Here you go.”
“Oh, don’t mind if I do.” Thankfully, your hold on the bags is solid. Instead of grabbing the groceries, Coco’s hands are suddenly groping all over you. One hand is settled firmly at your ass, the other sliding into your hair, at the back of your head. He wastes no time diving in for a slow, deep kiss, and, damn, does his timing suck. He could have at least let you put the bags down, first. The contact makes you tingle, and has you regretting your decision not to stay home. Coco pulls back, after a few seconds, and hums. “Mm. Best delivery ever.”
You can’t help the small snort of amused laughter that leaves your throat. “Good try, Coco,” you praise, easing back far enough to offer him the bags, again. The look of disappointment on his face is just pitiful. “I’m not banging you in the garage.”
He has the grace to mock gasp. “I’d never!” It’s a crock, and you both know it. He looks too amused to be repentant, and you look too aware to be angry. You just raise your hands, slightly, in a third offer. Coco sighs. “All right. All right.” He takes the bags from your hands.
“Thank you.” You grab another load for yourself, rounding the open car door to follow Coco’s lead, into the house. One more trip for each of you, and you should have it covered. So much for only buying fifteen items.
Coco might be right about buying out the store.
*
Watching from the dining room, Coco has a good view of you and Letty unpacking the last of the groceries. Damn kid, she’d thrown him out, about ten minutes prior.
“Less groping, more helping, Coco,” Letty had warned him, after he’d tried to pin you against the sink.
It had been his last warning. Now, he’s been banished. Not the worst thing in the world, not really. Over the last few weeks, he’s really learned that there are some tasks he’s not so fond of. Pruning roses… Yeah, he’s pretty sure you’ll never let him do that, again. And, hey, nobody told him what to fill the bird feeder with. Unpacking groceries goes on that list, somewhere between line-drying laundry, and a streak-free mirror. He’s not sure why. Goodness knows, it makes him feel like a kid at Christmas, most times. Since being with you, though…
Since being with you, he feels like he’s taking advantage of something.
Yes, groceries are a strange place to let that feeling land, but he can’t help it. Coco’s been responsible for feeding himself since before he cares to remember. The only time anyone provided his meals was during deployment, and half that shit barely passed for edible. You, though… You keep the house stocked with more food than he’s seen anywhere, outside of a corner market. Letty always has options to take to school, and there’s a nutritious dinner on the table, almost every night. (Some nights, he actually does win the battle for delivery). If Coco goes on a run, you send him along with snacks for the road. And, yeah, he kinda’ likes that. He also likes the energy bars you picked out for him, last week. Something with cherries, and dark chocolate. He wonders, for a second, if you picked up any more. Come in handy during his mid-week trip outta’ town.
Coco blinks. Then, he does it again, just for good measure. That’s it. That’s what’s so fucking weird about this whole thing.
It’s you.
Okay, no, it’s not you, you. But, it’s you. It’s you, taking care of him. It’s you, seeing to his needs. Letty’s needs. It’s you, being his wife, his partner. It’s you, slotting into the place of role-model for his teenaged daughter. Welcoming them into your home. Not treating it like it’s your home. It’s you, being so fucking perfect for him, it’s taken his mind all this time to catch up with reality.
Coco doesn’t get perfect. Perfect doesn’t want him.
Except, now, it does.
Before he knows what he’s doing, Coco strides into the kitchen. He doesn’t wait for you to put the box of pasta in the cupboard. He just takes it from your hand, ignoring your confused look, as he tosses it onto the counter.
“Coco!” Letty admonishes, but it’s no use. He’s already lifting you off the floor, arms around your perfect backside. The kid gives a long-suffering sigh, he hears it, but pays it no mind.
Nothing – nothing – is going to keep him from holding you in his arms.
Your own arms go around Coco’s neck, and you smile down at him, surprise still lingering in your eyes. “Uhm… Hi, there.”
Coco grins. “Hey, muñeca.” Leaning up, he pecks you on the lips.
“Can I help you with something?” you ask, to which Coco shakes his head. Closes his eyes, as your fingers play in his hair.
“Nah. Got all I need.”
*
Pulling a package of mixed vegetables from the half-unpacked shopping bag, Letty rolls her eyes. You two… God, you’re gross. Coco always has his hands on you, no matter what you’re trying to do. It’s a wonder you don’t carry a damned fly swatter around. Actually, it’s a wonder you ever accomplish anything. He’s always smooching, and smiling, and snuggling at you. It’s disgusting. It’s pathetic.
It’s so damned cute, it’s sickening.
Really, Letty’s enjoying seeing Coco so happy. Like, genuinely happy. Not the false pride he carries around with his kutte. He’s more relaxed, nowadays. He drinks less, and he spends more time at home, both of which mean he’s not hanging around with those skanks at the clubhouse. He eats more, he’s healthier… Nothing to complain about, there.
And, hey, she has no complaints about you, either. You’re pretty cool, all-around. A woman who takes care of herself, and her family, and doesn’t bitch about either one. You’re not using Coco for money, or status, none of the shit she’s always been worried her father would fall into. There aren’t arguments, every night, not even between herself and Coco, as of late. No hostilities, nothing to avoid the house over. Just good dinners, and movies, and a new fish tank in her room. (Okay, so, you’d earned some major points with that birthday gift. She hadn’t actually expected to get one, when she’d mentioned it). For the first time, she understands what a peaceful, happy family feels like. It feels nice. It feels like home.
Glancing back to where Coco now has you perched on the counter top, stealing the most syrupy-sweet smooches… Letty can’t help but smile. Home is A-okay by her.
*
The sound of the air conditioner humming in the bedroom usually lulls you right to sleep. Tonight, it’s just providing you with white noise, a low background track to your thoughts. You don’t mind, not really. It gives you a few minutes to reflect on the day that’s just ended. To plan your day, tomorrow. To weave your fingers through Coco’s hair, and listen to him breathe. That, alone, makes it worthwhile.
Coco has been asleep against your shoulder for nearly an hour, now. Your arms are wrapped around him, comfortably, his own around your waist. You’d urged him up to bed, after he’d fallen asleep on the couch, his head in your lap. He’d snoozed from the middle of the movie, to the end of the nightly news report. Letty had tsked, and complained that no one had any business, whatsoever, in falling asleep during Zombieland. (How he’d stayed asleep was still a wonder to you, both, for how hard you’d been laughing at Tallahassee). With your fingers in his hair, Coco had been blissfully unaware for a couple of hours.
Glancing down, you take in the sight of your husband’s sleeping face. He looks so damn peaceful, the kind you’d outright murder to preserve for him. Coco’s still struggling with sleep, and relaxation, even though you’d hoped it would ease up, once your nuptials had passed. Most of it, you know will never go away. Anxiety doesn’t have a magic wand, or some perfect little on/off switch. And, all things considered, today wasn’t a terrible day. You’d been able to leave the house, with minimal panic on Coco’s part. Granted, it had taken extra time to get the groceries put away, and dinner made, but… You understand, as much as you are able to, that Coco needs the reassurances. It doesn’t cost you anything to carve a few moments from the day, every here and there, to give him what he needs.
Okay, so it did cost you that first batch of pancakes, this morning. They’d burned on the stove, and set off the smoke alarms, when he’d insisted on a dance through the living room. But, Coco loved the song you’d been playing on your Spotify, so there was really no denying him.
Oh, and… Yeah, you’d missed that phone call from the bank, the week before. Your husband had slipped up next to you, on the porch swing, and snuggled you to within an inch of your life. An easy fix, and you still got the business loan, but…
And, sure, you’ve been late to work, on numerous occasions. Coco has a habit of sneaking into your morning shower. And, after that… Well, hell, you own the company. It’s not like you have to explain to the boss that you’re late to your shift, on account of baby-dancing. (Fucking forums).
Point is, you’re more than happy to take care of Coco’s emotional needs. It may take you an extra hour to pay your bills. Daily tidying may have become every-other-day-if-you’re-lucky tidying. And, your ass may have gone numb, tonight, while he slept on your thigh. During which time, you could have loaded the dishwasher. Taken out the trash. Any number of tasks that have been neglected, in the name of Coco. They can wait.
Leaning in, you press a tender kiss to your husband’s forehead, before settling back in, and closing your eyes. Yes, chores can wait. Work can wait. The whole world can hold it, with both hands. So long as you’re around, Coco’s well-being will never have to take the back seat.
*
P.S. If Coco denies it, he’s full of it. He fucking loved that cauliflower pizza. Fucking vegetarians, indeed.

It all started from the day you met him by the river fighting against the Imugi, Changmin over the Yeouiju which had fallen from the Heavens. Now that you’ve met again, would the wish you’ve made then be granted?
Parts: Pt. 1 , Pt. 2
“You are aware of who I am, Kim Namjoon.” Yunho tells the owner of the Room while holding off the effects of the young man’s words on him. They had been talking for some time and he notices that Namjoon had been trying to lull him into sleep with the vapours of his drink coming off from his lips.
The young man flashes a dimpled smile to the Jeonseung Saja and takes another sip of the green liquid in his glass. He seem to know that the person sitting opposite him isn’t the same as those who managed to pass through the painting as most of them would’ve been asleep or trying to end their lives after he had spoken this long to them. Namjoon’s eyes starts glowing the same colour as the electric green contents within his glass.
“Oh well, I’m not so sure if you’ll be able to let me know on your own.” Green smoke emits from his lips as he speaks and Yunho notices sparks of electricity within those clouds. “I guess I would have to work harder for today.”
He flips off from the sofa that he had been sitting on when flashes of electricity shoots out at his direction. Yunho manages to land on his feet when he detects that the room is shifting around them and tears out a page of his book to throw it at Namjoon’s general direction. The page folds itself into a dagger mid-air and drives deep into Namjoon’s shoulder as he was manipulating the electric clouds.
This is not the regular gwishin that they had been hunting; for some strange reasons, this is a soul bound to a yokwe. The bound soul is able to draw powers granted by the yokwe to do its bidding but Yunho found it strange that someone like Namjoon is being bound.
“I wanted to let you leave in peace yet you made me do this.” Namjoon snarls at him, his voice coarse and losing the usual calmness that he had during their conversation earlier. “Why do you have to make me do this?”
“Kim Namjoon, you’re a kind soul.” Yunho acknowledges, “However, you should not be doing this.” He pulls out his sword to cut through the clouds.
“Hyung, you need help?” Another voice was heard as Yunho was searching for the bond which he needs to severe between Namjoon and whichever yokwe had been controlling him.
Usually this would be in the form of items or brands on the individual that acts as a medium for the yokwe to force the bound soul to do its bidding.
Yunho hardly had time to focus and determine said item when he was whisked away into another room. A boy with his eyes closed, a lollipop in one hand and the other holding onto the swing which is keeping him suspended off from the floor appears in front of him. He takes another step up at the strange boy while dusting his jacket clean and the said boy cracks an eye open.
“Hi.” He smirks upon making eye contact with the intruder who found himself hanging off from the ceiling by his ankle.
He sucks on the lollipop while walking up to the man to observe him.
For someone hanging upside down from such a height, Yunho seemed pretty unbothered. There are no signs of panic on his face and he simply surveys him dumbly. He found it odd that there isn't any signs of blood rushing down to his face and he just appeared rather...dead.
“You’ve hurt my hyung.”
“Your hyung and you had been hurting people. I would appreciate it if you let me down now.”
“No. We’ve not been doing that.” He dismisses the notion while still sucking on his lollipop. Yunho could feel a force tightening around his neck while the boy prances around him nonchalantly.
“How long would it take for both of you to realise this?” Yunho sighs, reaching into his jacket’s pocket to take out a battered old book. “Jeon Jungkook?”
“How did you-” Jungkook could not finish his sentence when it was his turn to be hanging from the ceiling by his ankle. Yunho pocketed his book and forces a smile to the confused Jungkook. “Well you see…I can’t really die so it is useless to try doing…whatever both of you did…to me.” He shrugs.
The door to Jungkook’s room bursts open and Namjoon storms towards Yunho upon seeing Jungkook hanging off from the ceiling. He starts hurling storm clouds at his direction but it simply misses the older man in black who sidesteps every one of those. Jungkook raises his free hand from behind and Yunho could feel a force tugging onto his neck again to hold him in place as Namjoon gathers up another mass of clouds to aim it at his direction.
Changmin had been dodging arrows for the past 30 minutes from every direction fired by the the young man with orange hair. He had been holding back but it was getting progressively annoying to have parts of his body numbed by the poison and having the need to waste time extracting said venom to heal himself. The lad fired another 3 arrows at him and this time, he did not bother to dodge it anymore.
The arrows were stopped by a wall of water and for a moment, the young man thought he was staring at the eyes of a reptile.
“Well, you did wanted to know what I am, didn’t you?” Changmin growls.
“It would be rude for me to not introduce myself; I’m Jung Hoseok. You can call me Hobi if you want to.” he beams at Changmin before firing another arrow.
“Consider it your luck for getting me instead of Yunho or that sneaky woman.” Changmin clicks his tongue while preparing to gather more water to flush Hoseok out of the room.
The entire room trembles and Hoseok found himself unable to stand properly to prepare for another shot of his paralysis arrows to put Changmin down. All he wanted was to put him into a painless state so that they could get their job done but the pissed off man isn’t making things easy for them. In fact, he is starting to feel that he would need backup to put this man down because he could sense something really awful is about to happen to him.
The quake was so intense that even Yunho and Jieun could feel it in their rooms.
“There he goes again.” Yunho groans after subduing Namjoon and Jungkook in chains and handcuffs and was preparing to return to the museum.
It was so violent that even the organ was shaking.
“I’m sorry, my friend isn’t as patient as he claims to be, Yoongi.” She smiles, leaning onto the organ that he had been playing.
“You aren’t exactly human aren’t you?” Yoongi asks as she watches him. Yoongi prepares to press onto several keys to set her to sleep again but it had not been working on her at all.
She simply yawns a little and continues watching him with keen eyes. Her fondness for his playing did not wane at all and she seemed really mesmerised by his playing. There were several instances he thought he saw her eyes shifting colours but he blames it on the green smoke that surrounds the room. It was meant to put intruders to sleep but it seems to not be working on this person at all.
Jieun starts tapping her own tune to accompany Yoongi and slowly, images of the young man’s past starts playing. Her eyes starts narrowing into different spots of his memories and the images got sharper with every key Yoongi played.
When Yoongi stops to look up at Jieun; she is no longer there but it was his mother.
“Yoongi, would you play the piano with me?” Yoongi looks down at the organ he had been playing on to realise that he is sitting in front of a piano. In fact, it is the same piano that he used to play with his mother.
“What...” she ignores him and starts playing.
“Why told them that nobody was home?” she questions, playing the piece which she did before their house caught fire. “Did you have any idea that I was suffering while waiting for someone to save me, Yoongi?”
While Yoongi is in a ‘conversation’ with his ‘late mother’, Jieun is trying to find the medium which was used to bind him to the yokwe. She had been trying to sniff out if it was hiding within the organ that the young man was playing on but no, it isn’t anywhere in or on the organ so she had to search somewhere else. She could care less if she is traumatising Yoongi into another suicide but she would need to act fast on finding the medium; Yoongi cannot really die in the state that he is in anyway.
Yunho would at least counsel his subjects, Changmin prefers to flood the area with purifying waters but Jieun finds this to be the most efficient. At least she would be able to conserve energy for real threats and the enemy does not really have an idea of her actual strength.
She pauses in her search after sensing fluctuations of demonic energy in the air and turns to Yoongi whose eyes are starting to shift in colours. At the same time, Jieun notices that the ring he is wearing seems to be resonating with the spike of energy in the air.
“Oh no you don’t...” that was the last thing she heard before her sight was gone.

There is a wide range of kinds of water purifiers for the home
Share Some are harder to set up than others. Some needn’t bother with installation by any stretch of the imagination. Everything relies upon what you buy. In any case, paying little respect to the type or model, you can be protected in realizing that you contribute to the health of your whole family by enabling everybody to drink pure, clear and uncontaminated water.
One of the types that needn’t bother with a specific RO installation is the pitcher purifier. This is additionally the cheapest one these days. You should top the pitcher off, and the installed separating will tidy up your water and make it prepared to drink.
Another option is utilizing fluoride channels
These you connect to your sink to enable you to take out different metals and contaminants from your drink. A specific model of this sort is one that joins itself under your sink. The under sink assortment ought to be installed; anyway, the uplifting news is that it comes with its installation unit that makes it a breeze for you to mount it to your sink.
You likewise have spigot mounted channels that are simple to install and need any instruments to do it. You can use this sort without a cartridge framework, and the coming about fluid is spotless and pure. To mount it you have to unscrew the aerator on the sinks gush and then connect to this the channel by screwing it on. You have to focus on this sort but when it comes to supplanting the channels, as it should be doing all the time. A slight impediment of this sort is a reduction in the water weight, anyway few individuals complained about it up until this point.
An entire house water filtration framework is the most complex of every one of those necessities a considerable amount of work when it comes to installing it. Anyway, in the long run, it is the savviest, while at first; it may look like only the inverse.
As should be obvious, there is a wide assortment of alternatives when it comes to giving you fresh fluid that is spotless of microbes and unsafe synthetic concoctions, metals and other contaminants. There is never again any explanation behind you to drink the repulsive tap water or the costly jugs that come in a pack of 6 or 12. With such a framework set up, you and your family shelter in realizing that you are drinking something as pure as it can get today.
Specialists state that it is extreme for a person to stay alive for more than three to four days without water. But, for me, the saying of the specialists comes uniquely. It sounds to me as “without clean water.” And this clean water is beyond the realm of imagination without having a productive water purifier installed in your home. When you permit to establish the best water purifier at home, there could be a progression of advantages you will come over.
The first could be sparing an attractive measure of cash, which everybody is cautious about during these long periods of unsafe subsidence.
The second could be seeing a critical improvement in the gut health of your relatives. The customary admission of germs free water will control many complications, for example, aggravating gut disorder, and so on.
The third could be a more shine to the skin of everybody
Inadequate admission of water that is six to ten glasses for every day is identified with the health of an individual’s skin.
These could be one side of the coin. There is more you can ascribe to the propensity for drinking contaminated water. It could irritate savage illnesses as well. Have you at any point envisioned how natural your water could be regardless of whether it is chlorinated? When you know it, you will discard such water which you drink each now and then.
On the one hand, the chlorination murders many germs to make it protected, yet on the other, it shows the seeds of malignancy, pancreas disease, and heart infirmities. There is no way out from a Kent RO Service Gurgaon.
In all honesty, even the individuals who sell fixed containers in the name of 100% microorganisms free water, can’t guarantee you a 100% pesticide and pimple open water. Papers blame such water bottles for conveying heavy metals.
A commoner doesn’t have enough opportunity to peep into the water bottle
So it is up to you, what do you pick? Whether health dangers for your relatives or a raft drifting on the purified water humming out of your water purifier.
Specialists caution pregnant women to avoid contaminated water. A figure, what could be a more terrible blessing to an unborn than the drinking of debased water by her mother. Probable, it will never acknowledge something in the belly, which comes with more than five hundred sorts of hazardous synthetic compounds.
A child may create different kinds of lethal ailments, for example, mental or hearing hindrance, bone weakness, immature body organs thus. Arsenic, lead, mercury, and some medication deposits could be, but a couple of, all that anyone could need to harm.

headcanon #040: cfs/brand deals
word count: 1,430 words
tw: mention of injury in the reebok section
at this point in his career, ash has established himself as a pretty stable face in advertisements among idols. it’s a miracle he managed to get there, as no one would have wanted him for brand deals back in 2016 because at that time he had neither standout popularity among his group nor the reputation to sell anything. his ability to be an actively sought-after cf model has become the biggest badge of ash’s rehabilitation into someone who’s not only pretty popular, but who has also managed to recover by leaps and bounds from what had once looked to be a permanently tainted image.
nescafé: this was ash’s first solo brand deal. honestly, he wouldn’t want to work with the brand again today (not that they’ve asked) because he’s become more conscious in the brands he endorses now, but it was a weird experience to have a solo brand deal for the first time. it came months after his solo debut and his initial ventures into solo activities, but he was still surprised such a big brand was willing to take him on. filming the cfs was the most uncomfortable ash has ever been during a cf shoot, as it involved way too much acting and appealing to the camera in a romantic/boyfriend type way. the deal ended after his three month contract, with the brand getting a small boost in sales from his fans, but the decision ultimately came down to ash not matching their image enough for a long-term partnership.
reebok: ash fractured his ankle filming the cf for this brand deal, so it’s not something that springs to mind a lot of good memories or many memories at all since his activities as a brand ambassador were limited due to the injury. he mostly filmed the promotional materials and did a fan sign and that’s it. before the injury, the cf had been much more comfortable in concept to ash than he previous solo cf endeavor since it involved him dancing, not acting like he was flirting with the camera. this deal ended after three months because the injury wasn’t good publicity for the partnership and he hadn’t been able to fulfill as many activities as a brand ambassador as desired.
baskin-robbins: with baskin-robbins, ash was again thrown back into being pushed as “desirable”, but this time he was flirting with an actress instead of directly with the camera for most of the cf as he played dual roles of a “sweet guy” and a “cool guy”. this was the first cf bc accepted for ash coming off of his first number one hit with “untitled, 2014″, at which point a lot more offers had begun to come in. the cf itself is far from his favorite, but he did really enjoy working as a brand ambassador for baskin-robbins, partially thanks to the free ice cream, and would be happy to work with them again if he could have a different concept for the advertisement. the deal ended after three months as it’d only ever been planned to be a seasonal partnership anyway.
sunkist: he began his contract with sunkist the same month as his contract with baskin-robbins (thanks “untitled, 2014″!). this is probably the most comfortable cf ash has ever filmed. all he had to do was play a piano, sing, and look out a window. he’d like it if more of his cfs could be this simple.
primera: ash’s first standalone cf outside of a brand deal was for primera alpine berry watery cream, a moisturizer. it pushed the boyfriend image again a lot and ash is glad bc has abandoned that now because he was not a fan of the acting he had to do for the cf. it was a part of the company’s campaign for preserving the earth’s wetlands, though, which made ash realize he could do some good through cfs, something that would be a silver lining.
domino’s: this was ash’s first duo brand deal, this one with another male idol. all he really had to do was stand there and eat pizza and look good in a suit, so he didn’t mind this one so much. as an avid pizza lover, he was more than willing to do that much to get free and discounted pizza for the duration of his ambassador position. that’s why, if you ask him, the deal ended too soon.
calvin klein: this is the longest solo brand deal of ash’s career. he’s been the korean face of calvin klein since august 2019 and has become at home in the brand and their image. their partnership was well-received, which helped bc to shape what they saw as the best image for him. his first cf for calvin klein is the cf that means the most to ash. he discusses his anxiety and depression, something he’d never done publicly before. his role as the face of calvin klein is still ongoing to this day.
aveda: this happened all because ash grew his hair out a little. love or hate it, it got aveda’s attention and he was tapped to do a standalone cf for aveda’s line of shampoos meant to volumize thinning hair. ash has been marketed for a lot of weird thing over his time, but he’ll be honest and say he didn’t ever expect his hair volume to nab him a cf deal, but he won’t complain. this was his first cf really aimed exclusively at a male demographic, something he’d historically not appealed much to up to that point in his career.
kakaopay: this was ash’s first musical cf, so he quite liked it. he got to sing a song, but the acting was the bigger challenge. ash does better acting alone than he does acting close to strangers, so filming took a while due to concerns about him not displaying a lot of chemistry with the other actors.
cuckoo water purifier: this is another instance where ash landed himself a brand deal unintentionally. the marketing people at cuckoo heard he’d taken up boxing and discovered some of his fans found that hot and decided to really market that sexy boxer image. ash thinks this cf is shameless and he’d rather no one ever bring it up to him again.
sprite: his second duo brand ambassador deal and his first with a female idol. ash didn’t have much of an opinion on this one. by the time this deal came around, bc had shifted full-force from marketing him as sweet and boyfriend-y to a sexy heart throb, which matches the image sprite tends to go for for their summer commercials, so this was a natural fit. this was another deal meant solely to be seasonal, so it ended after one contract term.
kt: the budget for this cf was higher than it needed to be, in ash’s opinion, but other than that he doesn’t have much to say. it paid well because it was kt and his face felt like it was all over the place, even if other brands he’d worked with before had actually been more widespread.
forencos: ash hated the cf he did for this brand. again, he was portrayed again as little more than a hot guy to fantasize about. he gets it, he swears. sex sells, and he should feel flattered to be considered attractive enough to be wanted as a conduit of that, but honestly, the end of his contract with forencos couldn’t come soon enough, only because he wanted the commercial to stop airing.
maxim top: the concept for this partnership is a more mature image. it’s his second coffee deal, with nescafé being his first a few years earlier. the image difference is very clear in the contrast between these cfs. maxim top seems to want to market both the brooding, thoughtful side of ash’s image and the heart throb side. he’s hoping they’ll stick with the former more than the latter because, even if he still doesn’t feel like that’s real, it’s more comfortable for him.
biotherm homme: his latest brand deal, ash really shouldn’t have expected anything less when he learned their deal would be for the valentine’s day and white day season. he had to act like a desirable boyfriend again, except this time four different types that seemed to coincidentally fit with the tropes he was most often cast in by his fans. he hopes this cf fades into oblivion instead of becoming a part of his dark history brought up on variety shows to make him cringe for years to come.

27 Golden Rules For Becoming a Master Traveler
Updated: 9/2/2019 | September 2nd, 2019 Every industry has its own “best practices” — proven rules and standards that guide the industry and the people in it. Travel is no different. There are many “rules to live by” that can help us navigate the unknown world with fewer mistakes. I have my own golden travel rules. Over the past ten years, I’ve learned a lot of tips and tricks that have helped me thrive when I travel. When I first set out in 2006, I made a lot of mistakes. (Ok, I still make some mistakes.) And that’s not a bad thing. If you don’t make mistakes, you aren’t trying new things and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Mistakes are going to happen. But, over the years, I’ve developed a list of 27 golden rules for travel. These guidelines help me save money, make friends, stay safe, and fit into the local culture. If you follow them, you’ll become a master traveler, able to travel the world with swashbuckling zeal and expert ninja-like knowledge… all without breaking the bank so you can keep cutting a path forward through the world for longer: 1. Be adventurous – You only live once. You’re going to get chances to do wild things you’ve never dreamed of doing when you travel. Don’t hold back. Count to three, say “screw it,” and take the leap. You didn’t come this far for nothing. Say yes when someone asks you to go rock climbing, salsa dancing, spelunking, or try the world’s hottest pepper despite not liking spicy food. There’s no one around to judge you. No one cares what you do. No rumors will be spread. Push yourself to do something new and daring at least one. 2. Get a no-fee ATM card – Why give your money to the banks? Get an ATM card that doesn’t charge any fees and use that extra money for more traveling. Over the long term those $2-5 charges really add up. I use Charles Schwab as my bank, but you can also find many others that offer no-fee accounts — or use a one that is part of the Global ATM Alliance, and pay no fees within that network. This article can show you how to avoid bank fees when you travel (and will give you a list of suggested cards too). 3. Get a rewards credit card – Why pay for travel when you can get it for free? Use a travel rewards credit card to earn points and miles that can be redeemed for free travel. You’re already spending the money anyway so why not get rewarded for it? Travel credit cards come with tons of perks and huge bonuses that can be redeemed for free flights right away. Plus, they get you the best exchange rate on your purchases. Having one is an absolute must. Want to know how I get hundreds of thousands of points per year and fly for free? Sign up for my free primer on the art of travel hacking and I’ll show you. 4. Always carry backups – Always carry a backup bank and credit card in case one is lost, stolen, or hacked. That way while you are fixing the issue, you still have access to your money. Instead of the problem crippling your trip, it merely is an annoyance. This has happened to me before and, I can ensure you, you’ll be thankful you followed this advice! 5. Only carry what you need – When you leave to go out for the day, only care the cash you need and one credit card. You don’t want to get robbed and lose everything. Leave the backups and extra locked back at your hostel! 6. Join a frequent flier program – Get rewarded for all of those flights you’ll be taking by joining a frequent flier program. That way you’ll earn miles, perks for flying, and free flights. Miles are like money — and you wouldn’t waste money, would you? No! So, sign up for a loyalty program, and collect points. Even if it takes you years to get a free flight, at least you are not being wasteful! 7. Travel alone at least once – Few things are as liberating as solo travel. As a solo traveler, you’re free to do whatever you want. When you travel solo, the world is your oyster. You’re free to do whatever you want, whenever you want. To me, it’s the purest sense of freedom there is. But beyond that sense of freedom, solo travel actually teaches you a lot about yourself. Travel is an amazing personal development tool after all, and solo travel is one of the best ways to learn and grow and challenge yourself. Without anyone around you, you have to solve the problems you face on the road. You have to figure out how to get from point A to B, deal with people who speak a different language, get comfortable eating alone, find things to do, and work out problems that arise. It’s you and your wits. That forces you to grow in ways you won’t in the comfort of your home or with a group. While it won’t be for everyone, I still encourage everyone to try solo travel at least once. Even if you don’t love it, you’ll learn a ton about yourself in the process. 8. Learn basic phrases – Locals don’t expect you to be an expert in the local language, but learning a few basic phrases will go a long way to endearing you and making them go the extra mile for you. It will bring a smile to their face that you tried! “Hello,” “how are you?” and “thank you” go a long, long way no matter where you go. 9. Stay in hostels – Get to know other travelers and experience the communal spirit of traveling by staying in hostels a few times. They aren’t all the dirty party places you see in movies. Most hostels are very clean, offer breakfast, have comfy beds and Wi-Fi, organize events, and know the local area very well. They also aren’t just for young backpackers; you’ll find people of all ages (and even some families) staying there. Try them out. You may like it. Here is a list of the best hostels in the world to get you started! 10. Use tourist boards – Local tourist offices are a wealth of knowledge. When you get to a new destination, visit the tourist office and ask the staff an insane number of questions about the place. They exist solely to help you get the most of your visit and it’s their job to know everything and everything about a place. Plus, they often have tons of discounts not found anywhere else. Visiting one is often one of the first things I do in a new city. 11. Try new foods – Culture is often best experienced through food. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Get out of your comfort zone and experiment. You might actually like it (those fried caterpillars in Zambia were delicious!). 12. Be flexible with your plans – Travel is a series of happy accidents with way leading to way. Don’t skip going to that random city with the friends you just met because your itinerary says something different. You’ll regret it. Go with the flow and be open to new things. This will make your travels a lot more stress-free. 12. Pack light – Take it from a former over-packer: you never need half the stuff you take. Put everything you think you need in a pile and then remove half of it. The lighter you travel, the easier you travel. Here’s our suggested packing lists: What I Pack for My Travels: Your Packing Guide for 2019 The Ultimate Packing List for Female Travelers 14. Take extra money – Something always happens that you never planned for that will cost you extra money. I never thought I would fly last-minute to Fiji, need to replace my camera in Italy, or buy an extra iPhone cable in Australia. Always take extra money just in case. You may not need it, but you don’t want to be without a little extra when something bad happens. When you start planning for your trip, set aside a $300-500 emergency slush fund in for accidents. 15. Get lost – Meander through a new city without a map. Get lost — because in the end, you aren’t really getting lost, you’re just discovering new experiences. So put down the map and wander. Eventually, you’ll find your way. 16. Call home – Your parents miss you. Don’t forget to call and say hello. 17. Get a phone — It will be easier to stay in touch with friends (and call home), meet up with other travelers, and contact hostels with a phone. SIM cards and prepaid phones are cheap, so there’s no excuse not to stay connected. But don’t be glued to your phone. I see too many people hooked on their phone these days. But it is still a good idea to carry one for emergencies, especially when they are so accessible and affordable now. 18. Travel slow – This isn’t a race or a competition. I know you want to get a lot in with your limited time, but you see a lot more when you see a lot less. Travel slow and experience each place. Don’t race from train station to station; that will set you up for a stressful, unenjoyable time. With travel, less is more. 19. Live somewhere once – Stop at least once. Get to know a place. Learn the language. Make local friends. Explore. Become the local. Living in a foreign place gives you a different perspective on life and a real sense of what it’s like to be an outsider. Plus, living a foreign place and surviving will help you gain a lot of confidence. 20. Avoid taxis – They just cost a lot. Don’t use them unless you don’t have any other option. 21. Bring a reusable water bottle – Not only are all those disposable plastic water bottles bad for the environment but the cost adds up over time. A water bottle here, a water bottle there, and you’ve spent $50 on water alone. Get a reusable bottle and drink the tap water in conjunction with a SteriPen or LifeStraw water purifier. 22. Buy travel insurance – You never know what could happen on the road — but something always does. I’ve had to deal with lost baggage, broken gear, delayed flights, and even some pretty serious injuries. Without travel insurance, I would have not only had to pay out of pocket for these expenses but I would have been left to navigate them alone. Buy travel insurance so that if you’re injured or you break your camera, you’re covered. Plus, you’re friends and family will be able to relax knowing that, should something happen, you’re covered. It’s only a few dollars a day. It’s worth the peace of mind. Here’s the link to our resource page with all our articles on the subject! 23. Bring basic first-aid – Cuts and scrapes happen, and you can get what you need most anywhere in the world, but it’s still good to carry bandages, antibacterial cream, and some hydrocortisone cream in your first aid kit just in case. Also, carry duct tape — you’ll never know when it’ll come in handy. Here are some tips on how to pack a suggested first add kit. 24. Get off the beaten path – London, Paris, and the temples of Kyoto are all amazing for a reason, but get off the beaten path, go away from the crowds, and explore on your own. Find something new, stick out, meet the locals, and discover. The road less traveled is usually a good one. 25. Take photos of your friends – Years from now, you’ll want to look back at your younger self and see all the people who changed your life. Nostalgia can be a wonderful thing. Make sure you take photos of your friends. You’ll want them later. 26. Use the sharing economy – The rise of the sharing economy has made backpacking so much easier and cheaper. From ridesharing, house sharing, and meetup websites, there are so many ways you can get off the tourist trail and experience day-to-day life with locals! Here are some suggested websites: Couchsurfing (free shared accommodation with locals) Airbnb (paid accommodation with locals) BlaBlaCar (rideshare app) EatWith (share a meal with local cooks) Vayable (for finding local tours and activities) And finally, the most important tip of them all…. 27. Ignore all my tips and do whatever you want – It’s your trip. Go where you want, when you want, and for how long you want. Don’t worry about this or that. Make mistakes. Learn. Make more mistakes. Have fun and become a better traveler. At the end of the day, you won’t look back and think “if only I had more miles” but instead “damn, that was a lot of fun.” So get out there and have some fun! Fort Wayne Mowing landscaping and expert lawn care
Those actions does tap water contain, anyway? You are sure to have seen just about all the home purifiers near the market and you may perhaps possibly be wondering why the companies are necessary. If the customer don't pay much practices to the news or sometimes read the latest studies, then you are definitely drinking a lot great deal than you bargained when it comes to.In 2008, the Associated Press placed an investigative report with regards to traces of pharmaceuticals thought in public drinking moisture supplies. It was a strong important step for these kind of people to publish these effects. Public consuming providers calculated that some sort of public may not can know around the good results. Since Lawn Care Services Fort ayne was published, the Environmentally friendly Protection Organization has offered to undertake steps on address the matter. Politicians, also, have pledged their point of interest. However, it is not very likely that factor will be made. The the vast majority important important item is which unfortunately now one particular public will know an almost no more just about exactly "what does tap into water use." Drugs! That ended up the book of a brand new story printed by American Today. Free samples were handled every a few days taken from people's apartments or dental offices in regions like Louisiana, Maryland as well as the Iowa. This particular results established high volumes of Atrazine and new herbicides, far above the u . s . health standards, in almost all of that samples built-up.The highest levels were definitily found here in Danville, IL, Fort Wayne, IN, Go-karting Green, OH, Columbus, Ohio and Oh City, KS. So, if you reside in all of these cities, could to, "what does regular water contain" can be weed great.
What Conducts Tap Filtered water Contain? Chlorine, THMs (Trihalomethane), Lead, VOCs (Volatile Pure Compounds), Nodules and MoreThousands of a variety of cancer-causing chemical substances have recently found in public areas water assets across a rural area. Chlorine, used to disinfect combined with protect onto waterborne illnesses, is virtually any known allergen, a tissue and visual irritant, some sort of respiratory nuisance and could be toxic with high elevations. In small children, consumption can end result in anemia. THMs are typical byproducts within the chlorination activity and as well known cancer inducing agents. Lead seeps out of the sewerlines and involved in supplies once water sends through. VOCs cause many distinct health troubles and can be found in the vast majority of our space and groundwater sources.Cysts remain parasites are generally resistant which can chemical disinfection. They are really particularly poisonous to marginal children, the ageing and people poorly performance immune brands. Everyone really should try to provide incredibly protection. We simply wait directly on scientific question and navy regulations that can or may not even provide very much protection. Point-of-use home cleansers are realistic and valuable. For less than a hundred bucks, you will remove each of the contaminants here and even a variety that our team forgot post. The system to look to suit is names multi-stage frugal filtration. Be certain that cheap copy cats like Brita, PUR on top of that Clean & Pure won't remove each of the hazards named here. But, should not waste dollars on inverted osmosis. It becomes an expensive yet unnecessary movement. You need dual stage carbon filtration, an adsorptive block by using a submicron measured porous formula and exchange. Thanks to those the four steps, the solution to what engages in tap water to drink contain is absolutely nothing harmful. You can be sure that your overall health is defended.

Seven Steps to a Greener Workplace
Today, as I entered the call mettle where I business at my J.O.B., a poster was posted near the entrance, requesting goal from employees to green up our structure and our practices. Thrilled at the request, I sty to paper, jotting down all the ideas that had been swimming in my rosh just waiting for such an invitation.
Step 1: Employee Education
It's one entity to put a recycling bin in the lunch room, but quite another to apprise employees as to what should go in it and why.
Education on the lane of Going Green is essential. With our dwelling-place at ever-increasing risk, it may seem like we all should know how to reduce waste, conserve intestines and recycle, but, unfortunately, that theory may still be wishful thinking. Many of us just asphalt a few cans in a separate bag under the sink and call it recycling. Or we have replaced a duo illumination bulbs with energy-efficient fluorescents and we call that lessening our duplicate footprint. There is so scads more that we tins and should be doing, but maybe we just don't know enough approx sustainable livelihood practices.
Our enterprises could use a comprehensive educational school on how to become aware of and to instrument lawn practices both at business and at home. Green topics could include recycling basics, determination conservation practices, composting board scraps, consumer choices and a thorough plan of the foundation of the imperative for eco-conscious living. An employer-sponsored class, offered free of charge, would be a boon to those of us who poverty to know more. Taken a step further, a required 15-minute online practice during scheduled hours on lawn practices at occupation would pave the means to clear learning of Company Green-Practice policies.
Step 2: Filtered Water + Reusable Water Bottles
Fortunately, we have a filtered water dispenser, although, it could probably utility an upgrade. That's great! Employees should be made aware that they don't obligation to buy bottled water because it's there. Most bottled water is just filtered spigot water anyway.
Nobody monopoly plain tap water anymore and with good reason. At any given moment, our countryside water can get contaminated by farm waste runoff, chemical or bacterial contamination and additives to prey bacteria in the water that is treated before it comes out of the tap. Can you say, "Yuck, chlorine taste!"?
Bottled water output up to 1.5 million tons of plastic scuffle per year. That plastic requires up to 47 million gallons of oil per year to produce. Even though some plastic bottles are recycled, over 80 percent of plastic bottles are simply thrown away.
But please, make sure the water that goes into the coffee God is also filtered as those of us who mouthful hot beverages would like clean, filtered hot water.
Step 3: Vending Machine Overhaul
Yes, yes, I know. There are no vendors with healthy option to junk food. Why is that? Could it be because we are not requesting, in adequate numbers, that there be something besides oily, fattening, salty, sugary, high-cost, low-nutritional-value snack food in our vending machines? An online occupation for supplier may produce some interesting, healthy options. Organic food is a quickly-growing industry and healthy-snack vending machines are starting to become more widely available.
I say, removed them altogether if vendors won't fund what we poverty and need. Come up with an alternate system to make snack slab available to employees. Good healthy snack choices would be raw vegetables in snack bags, raw, unroasted almonds, walnuts and pecans (no peanuts, please, they contain high levels of mold), soy milk and yogurt, high-quality, organic chips and snack foods with natural sea salt and seasonings.
Step 4: More Potted Plants
There are precious few potted plants in our work areas. Did you know that, even in cities, outdoor shred is cleaner? The wisdom for this is that trees and plants are constantly washing the air. The best shred purifying plants are: Areca and Bamboo palm trees, Rubber plants, Dracaena plants, English Ivy, Ficus, Ali and the Boston Fern. Peace Lilies, Caladium and Spider plants do well indoors with indirect or artificial lighting.
Besides the benefits of bit disinfection which can cut down on air-borne illnesses and lung ailments, office plants tins bring life and cordiality to dull, drab chamber spaces. This evidence improve employee morale and productivity.
Step 5: Composting Bins
Hurray for the vegetable garden we saw next to the structure during the end raising season! Now, where's the greenhouse? And who gets to portion in the produce?
A great resources to get employees involved in the local backyard growing project would be to provide a compost basket for food scraps. Vegetable trimmings, dinners scrap and cafes basis all go into this bin. A lidded step-can lined with special compostable pants and placed next to the junk and recycling box would occupation well. The compost box can be emptied regularly into the compost slope outside or special, aerated, composting box in the (new) greenhouse. Add a few worms and maybe some leaf clippings and in a few months the compost tins be added to the garden. This is a great means cut down on the commercial fertilizer while creating a sustainable-living practice.
Composting makes use of valuable nutrients in foods to produce nutrient rich manure and create organic, nutrient-dense vegetables. It also reduces the amount of bit that goes into the rubbish and out of the trash disposal. Food scuffle from rubbish disposals is screened out of the water and eventually goes into the landfill, using more of our precious water appliances to wash it down the pipes and creating climate-threatening methane.
An motive to employees is to have a aperture to participate in the garden not only by contributing to the compost but by sharing in the planting, weeding, and harvesting. This liveliness also contributes to personal awareness of the benefits of home-grown vegetable gardening, a healthful and eco-conscious practice.
Step 6: Encourage Alternative Methods of Transportation
It may be difficult to device alternatives to driving during slower times of the year because of work reduction and scheduling. During ben business times, though, carpooling sign-up food could be a great funds to cut down on fuel consumption and costs. Those that live near one another tins see who has signed up with the same scheduled hours and portion a ride to work. Those that live close to the center could even bike or walk to employment on (our few) good weather days.
Creating more Home Agents would also decrease employee fuel intake and lighten that footstep even further. Many employees ambition 40, 50 or even 60 miles a day round-trip. That's a lot of emissions.
Step 7: Implement a Green Team
Many companionship across the dirt are supplying "Green Teams" whose positions description includes configuration sure the Steps outlined above are put into practice. They could also devise intestines efficient and ecologically sound programs on an ongoing basis, write articles for the employee newsletter and retaining everyone on their lawn toes. The Green Team's payment tins probably be covered by a rule tax incentive program or grant, a nice win-win situation.
These Seven Steps to a Greener Workplace, when added together, will greatly supplement employee understanding and partaking in lawn practices. This, in turn, will lead to lawn practices at home. The enterprises testament also be working toward pruning the collective coal footstep of our buildings [ https://teamwave.com/pipedrive-alternative ], our pole and our staff's families. It's great to work for a firm that cares and takes the time to implement eco-conscious practices leading to happier workers and greener communities.

27 Golden Rules For Becoming a Master Traveler
Updated: 9/2/2019 | September 2nd, 2019
Every industry has its own “best practices” — proven rules and standards that guide the industry and the people in it.
(Ok, I still make some mistakes.)
And that’s not a bad thing.
If you follow them, you’ll become a master traveler, able to travel the world with swashbuckling zeal and expert ninja-like knowledge… all without breaking the bank so you can keep cutting a path forward through the world for longer:
Here’s our suggested packing lists:
What I Pack for My Travels: Your Packing Guide for 2019
The Ultimate Packing List for Female Travelers
Here are some suggested websites:
Couchsurfing (free shared accommodation with locals)
Airbnb (paid accommodation with locals)
BlaBlaCar (rideshare app)
EatWith (share a meal with local cooks)
Vayable (for finding local tours and activities)
And finally, the most important tip of them all….
27. Ignore all my tips and do whatever you want – It’s your trip. Go where you want, when you want, and for how long you want. Don’t worry about this or that. Make mistakes. Learn. Make more mistakes. Have fun and become a better traveler. At the end of the day, you won’t look back and think “if only I had more miles” but instead “damn, that was a lot of fun.”
So get out there and have some fun!
You deserve it.

The larger the reservoir, the less often you will have to replenish the water. Instead, you're likely to have to water slowly, giving the water time to really seep through the soil. What to do if you've got to begin with bad H20! If you would like to acquire fresh running water straight from the tap, you can look at purchasing these wonderful water purifiers. All you need to do to test the water is get a little part of it, and set a test strip inside it. In case the tap water in your house isn't as superior as it needs to be, you might wish to have water delivered if it available in your region.
The color is what is going to inform you exactly what things are inside your water, and therefore what should be eliminated. You may even mix two secondary colors to have a various tertiary color. You may mix the two main colours and produce a secondary color. You are able to mix various colours and develop distinctive shades and make your cakes and pastries appear more attractive. It's possible you could have to add more of red food color to find the desired black shade.
Water purification is important as a way to guarantee the wellness of your family members. Brita water filtration has existed almost 40 decades. The Nano filter also serves as the salt-free water softener.
Being the sole agents for Onga-Australia in the UAE, the organization is regarded as a one-stop shop for all sorts of pool goods, systems and maintainence materials. It will introduce the most outstanding products in its collection, along with the new line of specific accessory products. Following your water was tested, a filter supplier can suggest the most suitable products, Ms Abella states. Anyways, no one wants to get an item that will utterly end up being not worthy. However much money that you have, you almost certainly want to purchase the ideal product for your financial plan. Or, if you're set up to purchase a certain brand, you could take a look at my brand reviews (top menu).
If you still need to put in a water purification system go for a reputable brand. Many high quality home water purification systems can offer water that is much greater to bottled water, at merely a fraction of the price, and, moreover, you don't need to lug home those gallon jugs of purified water. It's a five stage purification process which ensures 100% pure H20. Carbon filter systems, the absolute most widely used in the UAE, can vary in effectiveness.
An irrigation sprinkler process is indeed an efficient and speedy approach to water plants. So to answer this problem, it is an effective and efficient way to supply water to plants. One thing which you could do is come up with your own drip irrigation system. The AQ-4000 dual filter process has the capability to generate healthy, amazing tasting water as it employs a blend of ion exchange, carbon filtration and sub-micron filtration.
There are several purification units readily available today. Each filtration process is designed and equipped for your particular needs. Installing your own filtration process is simply an extra benefit.

The Best Gifts for Travelers: 2017 Edition
The holidays are upon us and you know what that means — it’s time for our 2017 gift guide!
Even though I’ve been blogging since 2002, last year was the first time I ever published a gift guide. So this year I am publishing a new version, keeping lots of the classics but adding in some new items in several categories.
Why? Because most bloggers’ gift guides are unrealistic, featuring items they don’t actually use, filled with high-ticket items that most people can’t afford. Sad but true. I love my blogger friends, but seriously — who has a thousand dollars to casually spend on a drone for someone?!
Guys, we are all privileged as hell, but at the same time, I don’t expect you to spend thousands of dollars on gifts. Or hundreds, for that matter. Your trust is important to me, so I’m not going to push things on you that I know are out of reach for most people.
But I will say this — I know great travel gear. I know what works, what doesn’t, and what’s a waste of money. (Most “travel clothing” is unnecessary and those scratch-off maps look much worse once you put them up, for example.)
So I decided to put together a list of things that I use, I love, and I think you would love, too.
Nothing on this list is ostentatiously expensive. Maybe the Drunk Elephant products are pushing it, but all but a few items are under $100 and most are under $50.
Nothing on this list is ugly. Looking good is important to me, and you’ll never find me in an ugly “travel hat” or zip-off pants (unless hiking). Please kill me if you ever catch me wearing hiking gear in Paris.
Nothing on this list was thrown in for crap purposes. No filler here — I believe in every product on this list.
This guide is going to have eight sections:
Kate’s Latest Picks for 2017
Under $25
Safety Gifts
Insanely Useful Gifts
Luggage Gifts
Digital Gifts
Gifts for Travelers Who Have Come Home
Here we go!
Kate’s Latest Picks for 2017
Here are some of the latest things I’ve discovered this year that would make great gifts. Not surprisingly, a great many of them involve fitness, but all of them are excellent for travelers.
Away Carry-on Luggage
I received a complimentary “The Carry-On” Away luggage as part of the campaign I did with RXBAR earlier this year, with no obligation to write about it, but I fell in love with it, taking it to Philadelphia, Vail, and Tybee Island. This is my new absolute favorite carry-on bag and I highly recommend it.
What makes this different? It’s designed beautifully and efficiently — it’s how I imagine the Japanese would design a carry-on bag. One side is designed for clothes, one for shoes and hard objects. It comes with a mini laundry bag so strong, it can hold a wet bathing suit without getting the rest of your clothes wet. It’s got a compression belt that lets you pack more into less space. The wheels rotate 360 degrees and it’s such a smooth ride.
All that and it has a battery in it so you can charge your phone with your bag! Very helpful when you’re unexpectedly delayed.
And if you buy more than one, they stack into each other so neatly that it won’t take up too much space, which is especially important if you live in an apartment.
I foresee myself using this bag a lot in 2018.
Cost: $225 on Away.com. Get $20 off your purchase with this link.
The Adventurous Kate Melbourne Speakeasy Travel Scarf
I’ve been a huge fan of Speakeasy Travel Supply, the scarves with a secret pocket for your passport, and this year we started collaborating together! The first signature scarf we created sold out (!), but the second, the Melbourne, still has plenty left!
The Melbourne scarf is patterned in blue, white, and gray. I named it after Melbourne’s crazy four-seasons-in-one-day weather! It’s unusual enough to be a standout piece but neutral enough to work with lots of outfits. And it’s so soft and smooth. If I had to sleep on the ground somewhere, I would be wrapping my face in it.
Not a fan of this style? Fear not — the Speakeasy scarves come in tons of different colors and fabrics, perfect for everything from the tropics to the Arctic.
Cost: $55 each, with big discounts if you buy more than one.
Gluten-Free Restaurant Cards
My friend Jodi of Legal Nomads writes about eating her way around the world as a celiac, and she has created excellent gluten-free dining cards that let celiacs eat safely in different countries. Why are these cards different from others? I’ll use Jodi’s words here:
You may have seen other gluten free restaurant cards, and many are great for those following a GF diet. As a celiac who is extremely sensitive, I got sick using them. I very much appreciate the work and effort that went into the freely available cards — but sadly they were not enough.
In contrast, the Legal Nomads cards are:
Researched by a celiac who loves to eat.
Written with the traveler in mind.
Use local dish names, based on what’s eaten in that country not just a translation.
Clear mention of cross-contamination and contaminated oil.
Double checked for accuracy with two translators familiar with food, who speak the local language.
The cards are available in the local language for France, Greece, Morocco, Japan, Mexico, Vietnam, Italy, Portugal, Germany, and for Spain there are both Spanish and Catalan versions. If you have a gluten-free traveler in your life, I can’t think of a more thoughtful gift.
Cost: $8.99 per card on Legal Nomads.
FlipBelt
This was a birthday gift from my sister that I’ve been using more often since taking up running. A FlipBelt is a comfy, stretchy belt you wear around your waist while working out. It has room for your phone, keys, and money while otherwise keeping your hands free.
Working out on the road can be a challenge, but having a FlipBelt makes it easier to exercise outside without having to guard a purse or backpack. And the pocket is big enough to accommodate one of those giant wooden keys the guesthouse gives you!
Cost: $28.99 on Amazon.
S’well Water Bottle
Probably the best way to reduce your waste is to bring a reusable water bottle on your travels. It eliminates you from buying single-use plastic bottles and most countries are not good about recycling. Even with recycling, we should reduce anyway.
S’well water bottles are beautiful, well-crafted, and slim enough to fit into a bag. Mine is bright metallic blue but I love their wooden patterned bottles.
Cost: $35 on Amazon.
SteriPen
So a water bottle is good, but what happens if you go to a country where you can’t drink the tap water? Enter the SteriPen. All you do is put it in a water bottle or cup, turn it on for less than a minute, and thanks to the UV light, the water is purified and safe to drink.
I’ve heard of SteriPens forever but I didn’t buy one until this year. When I hit the road in the developing world again next year, you bet I’ll be bringing this with me!
Cost: $83.15 on Amazon.
Trunk Club Gift Card
This year I wanted to update my boring, nearly-all-black wardrobe, so I tried out several shipments from the two big personal styling services: Trunk Club and Stitch Fix . Trunk Club was leaps and bounds better than Stitch Fix.
Trunk Club is operated through Nordstrom. You are assigned a stylist who works with you every time. You tell your stylist about what you’re looking for, and she sends you ten pieces from which to choose. You veto the ones you don’t want and she replaces them. Then they get sent to you, you try them on, you keep what you like, and you send back the rest.
As a result, I have my first romper ever (never thought I’d wear one, but there ya go!), dresses in colors I would never choose on my own (bright melon and dark green), trendier items I’ve always avoided like off-the-shoulder tops, and when I wanted a pair of neutral fashion sneakers but didn’t want to do the work searching for them, my stylist sent me a few pairs, including a lovely pair of off-white leather Cole Haans that I kept.
Stich Fix is very similar, with a styling fee of $20 rather than $25, but I found the quality of clothing to be much poorer when comparing to a similar price point to Trunk Club. If you spend $65 on a top from Stitch Fix, it will look like it came from H&M; if you spend $65 on a top from Trunk Club, it’s Nordstrom quality. Plus, Stitch Fix only sends you five items rather than ten, and the stylists are different every time. They do send you styling ideas, though, which is nice.
Overall, I recommend Trunk Club, but if you’re curious, check out Stitch Fix too and see which service you like better.
Cost: $25 per trunk and you can apply the $25 to any item you want to keep. Get $50 off your first purchase with this link.
Drunk Elephant Skincare Products
This is the year I decided to finally start being better about skincare, and part of that was starting to use Drunk Elephant products. Drunk Elephant skincare products are 100% cruelty-free. I’m a fan of the day and night serums: the C-Firma Day Serum and the TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum.
The absolute best Drunk Elephant product I’ve used, however, is the Babyfacial — it’s a once-a-week mask. Leave it on for 20 minutes, wash it off, put on a few drops of Marula Oil and go to bed — and when you wake up your skin will be SO smooth it’s ridiculous.
Yes, they are expensive, but they last for months and months (still going, eight months later) and they have made major difference on my adult acne and combination skin. I recommend trying out “The Littles” set, which includes a mini of every product except the Babyfacial for $80.
Cost: $80 for the day serum, $90 for the night serum. I recommend buying on DermStore.com because it’s 20% off your first order. However, if you want the Babyfacial, you’ll need to buy it on DrunkElephant.com for $80.
TaoTronics Wireless Earbuds
After going through several kinds of earbuds, I finally found my holy grail — a pair that lasts a long time and stays in your ears while at the gym, even if you sweat like crazy. It takes a bit of an adjustment to get used to charging your earbuds regularly, but you get used to it. I love not being connected to my phone.
Cost: $25.99 on Amazon.
Gifts for Travelers Under $25
You don’t have to spend a ton of cash to give someone a meaningful gift that will help him or her on her travels. Here are a dozen great options.
Point It: Traveller’s Language Kit
Ever tried using a wordless dictionary before? They can be extremely helpful if you’re in a region where English isn’t widely spoken. The Point It book is full of pictures that you can point to when you’re having a hard time communicating. (I really could have used this when searching for electrical tape in Saranda, Albania!)
Cost: $8.88 on Amazon
All-Weather Safety Whistle
I know you’re thinking of that scene in Titanic. And it’s the truth. Boat engines sometimes fail, and sometimes you’ll need to send a signal through darkness. A whistle is cheap and useful. Above all, it attracts attention when you need it the most.
This one in particular is LOUD. AS. HELL. You can’t beat it for that price.
Cost: $6.25 on Amazon
Manatea Silicone Tea Infuser
I love to try different kinds of tea while traveling — but the tea is almost always loose, not bagged. Most places don’t provide infusers, so you need to carry your own.
Enter the Manatea. Not only is it an easy way to get my tea fix, it’s an adorable conversation piece! This company makes a few different animals (I may also own the sloth), but the Manatea’s shape is easiest to fill and clean.
Cost: $6.23 on Amazon
Mini Power Strip with USB Slots
What happens when you have limited time and need to charge your phone, laptop, Kindle, and phone battery? With a mini power strip, you can charge them all at once.
You’ll also become everyone’s best friend when staying in a hostel dorm with only one outlet!
Note: NOT all mini power strips are created equal. This one is good because 1) Its plug is attached to a long cord, rather than part of a block (block-style power strips often don’t fit if an outlet is next to furniture or a wall), 2) it has three outlets, which is the minimum you should have 3) it has an on/off button 4) it has USB slots.
Cost: $19.99 on Amazon
Mini Portable Power Bank
I travel with two portable power banks: a mini and a big one. I’m putting the mini in this section because it’s under $25.
A mini power bank is essential for travelers — it fits into my purse for a night out (and if you don’t carry a purse, it fits easily in your pocket). I also consider it a safety device, as my phone lets me summon an Uber or call a cab if I’m in an uncomfortable situation.
This BAITER Power Bank is tiny yet powerful — it can charge the average smartphone twice (which is a LOT for a mini power bank)
Cost: $17.99 on Amazon
Headphone Splitter
If you’re traveling with a friend or partner, you must bring a headphone splitter! But even if you’re traveling solo, you never know when you might meet a cool friend and want to watch a movie or listen to a podcast together while in transit.
Headphone splitters are simple — you simply plug the end into your device and you suddenly have two headphone jacks.
Cost: $6.79 on Amazon
Wifi Extender
If you work while traveling, one of the most annoying things is to find a good place to work in a new city. Very often, the places with the best coffee and environment and plugs have the worst wifi. (Hell, I struggle with this in my own neighborhood in New York!)
For that reason, a wifi extender helps you access wifi from further away. So maybe you can sit in the funky coffeeshop while accessing the much faster wifi from McDonald’s a few doors down. This Netis extender plugs right into your USB slot and is one of the better models on the market.
Cost: $15.98 on Amazon
Travel Towel Set
What makes a good travel towel? It’s small, it’s light, it dries very quickly. I highly recommend getting one large enough to wrap around yourself; it will make your life a million times easier!
This one is large enough to wrap, comes in a million colors, it’s anti-bacterial as well. BONUS: It comes with a separate hand towel, which is great for taking along with you on sweaty or athletic days.
Cost: $21.90 on Amazon
Quirky Airport-Themed Accessories from Airportag
Airportag has a variety of airport-themed accessories for your home, as well as t-shirts. My personal favorites are the mugs and refrigerator magnets. I think these accessories work best when they’re a casual touch rather than the primary focus of the room. Good things come in small packages!
Mugs from $19.90, magnets from $4.90, on Airportag
Facial Cleansing Towelettes
Did you know that a Thai guesthouse once charged me extra because I got mascara on a pillowcase and they couldn’t get it out? Make sure this doesn’t happen to you! Believe me, the last thing you want to do when coming back to your hotel after a fun night out is a complicated skin routine — but sleeping in your makeup is bad for your skin.
Facial cleansing towelettes are the way to go, and I love these ones from Burt’s Bees. They are good at getting mascara off and the white tea scent is delicious.
Cost: $8.30 on Amazon
Contoured Sleep Mask
If you can sleep with the cheapie eye masks that airlines give you, good for you! I find that I need something a little extra, however.
This contoured sleep mask is much better — it’s soft, blocks more light, and isn’t as tight on your eyelids. Which I find helps me sleep better.
Cost: $7.99 on Amazon
Pair of Padlocks
Small padlocks are essential — they lock hostel lockers and your own bags.
I recommend getting 1) a combination lock where you can choose the combination, 2) a pair of locks, 3) TSA-approved locks. (Are they impenetrable? No lock is 100% impenetrable. Their goal is to slow down opportunistic thieves.)
Cost: $12.99 on Amazon
Safety Gifts for Travelers
Being a blogger who specializes in solo female travel, I get a lot of questions about safety and try to integrate them into all of my posts.
One of my top tips is to invest in quality gear that protects your belongings. This is something you shouldn’t scrimp on. At the same time, every item on this list is under $80.
Pacsafe TravelSafe Portable Safe
This is the #1 item that I recommend travelers buy. One of my proudest moments was when I was leading my first tour in Central America and I walked into the bathroom and saw three of these locked around the base of the sink! “You guys listened to me!” I said through tears.
You fill this safe with your belongings, pull it shut, and lock it to the sturdiest thing in your room. Sometimes that’s the base of a sink; sometimes it’s a pipe or a large, heavy piece of furniture. This way you don’t have to carry your valuables with you everywhere you go, which also puts you at risk.
Cost: $61.62 on Amazon
Earth Pak Waterproof Dry Bags
Dry bags are the other item that I recommend every traveler pack. When I was shipwrecked in Indonesia, I was able to rescue my phone, debit card, and point-and-shoot camera because I had a dry bag with me. Dry bags also protect my electronics when on crazy boat rides, like the panga ride to Little Corn Island that sprayed water everywhere.
You need these. Even if you don’t plan on traveling by boat.
These days I travel with two at all times: a small one (10 liters) and a large one that can fit my day bag (30 liters). And they come with a smartphone protector as well!
Cost: $18.99-31.99 on Amazon
LifeProof Phone Case
Let me be honest: if it weren’t for my LifeProof, I would have destroyed my phone when I accidentally dropped it in a toilet in a remote part of South Africa.
No, it’s not the sexiest looking case out there, but it is the absolute best phone case out there — one that will protect your phone as best as possible. You can even go swimming with it (but I wouldn’t recommend that). I don’t know what I would do without it (wait, I do know — I would pay constantly for screen repairs).
LifeProof also has excellent customer service and they will often replace your case for free if something goes wrong.
It’s a good idea to pick up a three-pack of headphone adapters ($6.99) because it only comes with one, but these days I think it’s an even better idea to use wireless earbuds like my beloved Taotronics.
Cost: $89.99 on Amazon (may vary based on your phone model)
Personal Alarm
I have not needed to use this yet, but I’m glad it’s there. Using a personal alarm has the same use as a whistle: it attracts attention when you need it. Maybe it’s when you’re lost or stranded; maybe it’s when you’re threatened by another person. Maybe a stray dog is scaring you. Either way, there is no way this alarm won’t get you attention.
Cost: $15.99 on Amazon
PacSafe Camera Strap
I always like having an extra layer of security by having a hard-to-slash camera strap, and PacSafe makes the best safety products. The PacSafe CarrySafe 200 is padded, comfortable, and lined with mesh, which keeps it from being slashable.
Cost: $34.95 on Amazon
RFID-Blocking Wallet
When traveling with a wallet, I always bring one that is RFID-blocking to protect against thieves. Your credit cards can be scanned remotely through your wallet, but RFID-blocking fabrics prevent this from being able to be done.
I suspect that my credit cards were scanned in Portugal back in 2012 and traveling without them was a nightmare, so I truly hope it never happens to me again — or any of you!
I hate most “women’s wallets” and it took a while to find one I like: this one is sleek, it’s made of leather, it comes in lots of colors, and it folds up small.
Cost: $42.95 on Amazon
Pacsafe Camera Bag
Before I went to Central America in 2015, I was concerned about theft and knew I needed to get a day bag that locked. My day bag is what holds my photography gear, tech gear, and valuables, and it always stays with me, unless I’ve got the valuables locked up in my portable safe at home.
This is my bag and it’s perfect: it has a laptop slot (easily fits a 13″ MacBook Pro), room for three lenses, and everything is lockable. All that and it fits underneath the seat in front of me when I fly.
That said, some people might prefer a larger bag, especially if you’re carrying several lenses (the giant lens I rented for safari was pushing it). You can find a slightly larger model here ($83.96).
Cost: $68.21 on Amazon
Travel Insurance
This gift could save your life or your financial future. I use and recommend World Nomads, and never go on a trip without it.
Cost: Find out a quote here.
Note what is not on this list: a money belt. I don’t use one and have no desire to. They’re uncomfortable and thieves are well aware that they exist. Get a Speakeasy Travel Supply scarf instead — they’re comfier, more practical, and much prettier.
Insanely Useful Gifts for Travelers
If you want to get someone a gift that he or she will use every day while traveling, here are some great options!
EasyAcc Monster Portable Charger
If there is one item that people should travel with but they don’t, it’s a portable charger. I know this because people are always asking me to borrow mine, even my full-time traveler friends!
I recommend traveling with two portable chargers: a large one that is perfect for long flights, long days out, or days when you’re away from electricity; and a small one, which I throw in my purse for a night out (and mentioned above).
I had to upgrade when I left my last portable charger in an Airbnb last summer and this one is just as much of a Monster as its name claims. You can charge an iPhone SEVEN times with this thing!
Cost: $33.99 on Amazon
Kindle Paperwhite
If you’re a regular reader, you know that I devour about one book per week. The truth? The only reason why I’m able to read this much is because I have a Kindle. I take it everywhere with me.
Having a Kindle reignited my love of reading, which had faded off in years. It’s rare that you can credit an inanimate object to making you a better person, but every book I read makes me a better person.
I’ve used multiple Kindles, but the Paperwhite is a million times better than the basic — it has a touchscreen, it’s illuminated from within (perfect for reading in a hostel bed or while your partner is sleeping), and it feels amazing in your hands.
Cost: $89.99 on Amazon
DivaCup
Ladies, if you haven’t made the switch to a menstrual cup yet, now is the time. It’s better for your wallet, better for the environment, gives you more space in your luggage, and it saves you from the hassle of trying to find tampons in Sri Lanka (which is…not easy).
Don’t be intimidated — it’s actually a lot easier to use than most people think. It just takes a few practice tries and you’re golden. See my full review here for more information.
Cost: $26.26 on Amazon
LifeTek Travel Umbrella
Rather than buying cheap umbrellas that break apart in the first storm, invest in a small, quality umbrella and you’ll be a million times happier. LifeTek makes awesome, wind-resistant umbrellas that fold up tiny and have a two-year replacement guarantee.
Cost: $26.95-34.95 on Amazon
Flight 001 Packing Cubes
Packing cubes make packing a million times easier. You throw your clothes in there and then pack the cubes themselves. There are a lot of brands out there, but I happen to love Flight 001’s Spacepaks because they’re high quality, incredibly durable, and you can unzip the other side and fill them with your dirty laundry!
I personally use just two of them: the blue clothes bag and the lavender lingerie bag.
Cost: $98 for a pack of three, or $46 for the blue clothes bag and $42 for the lavender lingerie bag, on Amazon
Memory Foam Travel Pillow
I didn’t travel with a pillow until last year — and I don’t know why I waited so long. It was nothing short of life-changing. Suddenly sleeping on planes became possible.
This is another case where you get what you pay for — no matter what, a travel pillow should be about strong neck support more than anything else. This model from I’celus Comfort is ergonomic, made of memory foam, and comes with a free sleep mask as well.
Cost: $15.99 on Amazon
Portable Bluetooth Speaker
I didn’t realize how useful a portable speaker was until I saw my friend bring one out and realized how much fun our trip became. They are the best for playing music while sitting around a pool with friends (this brings me back to lazy pool afternoons at Papaya Lodge in El Tunco, El Salvador!).
They’re also good for impromptu dance parties, picnics or outdoor gatherings, or even just listening to podcasts while doing your makeup in your apartment.
My UE Mini Boom is Bluetooth-enabled, the battery lasts for so long, and it’s durable as hell.
Cost: $87-110, depending on color, on Amazon
Durable External Hard Drive
When traveling, you should back up your photos in two places: online and on an external hard drive. And because slow upload speeds can be an issue while traveling, it makes it all the more important to use a high quality external hard drive.
The Transcend 2 TB StoreJet drive has 2 TB of storage and claims to be military drop-tested. I wouldn’t go for a swim with it, but it’s badass all the same.
Cost: $110.67 on Amazon
Luggage Gifts for Travelers
A good piece of luggage is worth its weight in gold. Luggage can be expensive, but if you have someone special in your life and can afford to spend a larger chunk of change, luggage gifts are very appreciated. For that reason, I thought I’d share with you the three bags I’ve been using lately.
One thing to keep in mind — a backpack should be measured to a person for the best fit. If you buy a backpack for someone, make sure it’s returnable in case it isn’t a good fit.
Secondly, I recommend not buying bags in black if you can help it (even though I wear all black, all the time). I’ve got a few black bags and it drives me crazy trying to pick it out of a carousel full of black bags.
Kate’s Favorite Carry-On: The Carry-On from Away
See the review at the top of this post. I love this bag.
Cost: $225 on Away.com. Get $20 off your purchase with this link.
Kate’s Favorite Carry-On Backpack: Pacsafe VentureSafe 45L
Once again, Pacsafe makes the best safety-conscious travel products, and I love my VentureSafe when I choose to use a backpack. I prefer to use backpack in less-developed regions like Central America and Southeast Asia because dragging a rolling suitcase over broken pavement gets old very quickly.
My favorite thing about this backpack is that every compartment locks onto the same bar, which you can lock onto another object. That’s the ideal way to protect your luggage on an overnight train.
Cost: $125.96 on Amazon
Kate’s Favorite Suitcase: Pacsafe TourSafe AT25
One more PacSafe bag to round them out! This is what I travel with most often. It’s a soft rolling checked suitcase and it has survived a lot of crazy trips. Now, if only I could get the red dust from the Australian Outback out of it…yes, that trip was over a year ago…
Cost: $197.86 on Amazon
Digital Gifts for Travelers
Take it from me — travelers like to carry as little stuff as possible. Digital gifts allow you to give a gift without taking up any luggage space.
Travel Ebooks or Kindle Books
If your recipient has a Kindle, a book makes an awesome gift. And if not, Kindle books can be read on a smartphone as well!
There are three travel books that I want to bring your attention to this year: two published by my friends in 2017 and one that inspired my trip to my favorite destination of 2017.
The Worrier’s Guide to the End of the World by Torre DeRoche — A sweet memoir and a study of traveling for healing, through heartbreak, grief, and anxiety, my friend Torre decided to walk her way across Italy and India on pilgrimages. This book inspired me to do a pilgrimage of my own someday!
Lagom: The Swedish Secret of Living Well by Lola A. Åkerström — Do the Swedes do everything better than we do? After reading my friend Lola’s book, you’ll think so! Lagom is the Swedish ethos of “not too little, not too much” and this book lays out how the Swedes choose to live in blissful moderation.
Moonlight in Odessa by Janet Skeslien Charles — A novel depicting Odessa, Ukraine, in the 1990s, as everything was controlled by the Mafia and the only way out was to become a mail-order bride. This book was the reason why I went to Odessa this year and I fell in love with the city. Out of print but you can buy it for Kindle.
Here are some of my other favorite travel and destination reads:
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt — Perhaps the best book about a destination I’ve ever read, this nonfiction novel is about the weird and twisted city of Savannah and its many characters.
The Ridiculous Race by Steve Hely and Vali Chandrasekaran — Two comedy writers (who went on to write for 30 Rock!) race around the world without airplanes. Definitely the funniest travel book I’ve ever read.
Bringing Up Bebe by Pamela Druckerman — The French raise their children differently. This American expat living in Paris tries to figure out what makes French parenting so different. Absolutely fascinating.
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway — My favorite book of all time. A novel about the Lost Generation of the 1930s drinking and wiling their days away in Paris and Pamplona.
Wild by Cheryl Strayed — A woman struggling with a divorce and addiction decides to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, alone, with absolutely no preparation.
Into Thin Air by John Krakauer — The riveting account of the 1996 expedition to Mount Everest that killed several people.
Love With a Chance of Drowning by Torre DeRoche — Another memoir written by my friend Torre, who decided to sail across the South Pacific with her boyfriend despite a crushing fear of drowning.
The Year of Living Danishly by Helen Russell — The Danes are often listed as the happiest people in the world. A British expat living in rural Denmark tries to figure out why.
The Neapolitan Novels: My Brilliant Friend, The Story of a New Name, Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay, and The Story of the Lost Child, by Elena Ferrante — This is one of the most epic series I have ever read, and one of the best things about it is its depiction of a rough neighborhood in Naples, Italy.
Without You, There Is No Us by Suki Kim — A fascinating and heartbreaking account of an undercover Korean-American journalist posing as a teacher at a university in Pyongyang.
Euphoria by Lily King — One of the best romances I’ve ever read, based on the life of Margaret Mead and taking place in Papua New Guinea.
Subscriptions to Online Publications
Good journalism will only exist if it’s funded, and the traveler in your life will appreciate being kept in the loop on what’s going on at home.
For newspapers, check out the New York Times (I love it because it has the best comment management on the web) and the Washington Post (which broke a ton of big stories in the 2016 election). Keep in mind that the Washington Post is free for several months to Amazon Prime subscribers, then cheap thereafter.
For magazines, check out Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and The Economist.
Crashplan, Dropbox, SmugMug, Private Internet Access, or Adobe Creative Cloud Subscription
These are all web services that can help travelers.
Crashplan is a system for backing up your computer and external hard drives to the cloud. It works automatically in the background. If your computer is stolen, you can virtually recreate your old computer on your new machine. From $10 per month.
Dropbox is cloud storage. You get a small amount for free; Dropbox Pro gets you a lot more storage. From $9.99 per month or $99 per year.
SmugMug is backup photo storage and you can also use it to sell your photography. From $5 per month or $36 per year.
Private Internet Access is a VPN service, meaning a place that lets you mask your location when using the internet. Not only does it protect your safety (and you should when doing things like banking online), but it allows you to access sites like Netflix and Hulu when outside the US. From $6.95 per month or $39.95 per year.
Adobe’s Creative Cloud gives you access to programs like Lightroom and Photoshop, which most amateurs and pros use to edit your photos. There are lots of plans, but the basic should be what most people need. From $9.99 per month.
Gift cards to Spotify, iTunes, or Apple Music.
Extra music is always appreciated. Find one which one your gift recipient prefers first — I’m definitely a Spotify girl. I swear those algorithms know me better than I know myself.
Gifts for Travelers Who Have Come Home
Maybe you know a traveler who has come home after a long-term trip away. Maybe you know a traveler who balances her home life with travel. Even if you have a home somewhere, it’s nice to bring your love of travel into your cozy home.
Framed Travel Photos from Framebridge
If you have a photo from your trip you’d like to display, Framebridge does absolutely gorgeous framing. And the whole process is easy — you put in your info, find a frame and mat you like (they can also choose for you), they send you either a tube or a flat mailer to send the print in (unless it’s a digital photo you send), and they frame it and send it back complete with the mounting supplies and instructions.
It’s definitely on the pricey end, but your best photos deserve to be framed beautifully, not in a cheap generic frame.
And it doesn’t necessarily have to be a photo. I’ve got a map framed by Framebridge in every room of my apartment! A Harlem map in the living room, an antique Northern Italy map in the bedroom, and a Bangkok map in the bathroom. Next up: a hand-drawn Savannah coffeeshop map in the kitchen.
(In the photo above is a Holding On To Love print by artist Chelsea Victoria that I found on Society6, framed by Framebridge in their rose gold Rosemont frame. I find that rosy shades of gold warm up my white-and-gray rainy day-inspired bedroom!)
Cost: Framing from $59. Get $20 off your first order with this link.
Ugg Suede Slippers
It’s nice to have something you can only enjoy while at home. For me, it’s the Ugg Ainslay Women’s Suede Slippers. They are completely impractical for the road but one of my favorite indulgences whenever I come home from a long trip.
Mine are in bright purple (to the surprise of absolutely no one); they also come in several different colors!
Cost: $86.97-129.95, depending on color, on Amazon (women) or $77.97-139.99, depending on color, on Amazon (men)
Cookbooks From Destinations Your Traveler Loves
A lot of my foodie friends miss having a decent place to cook when they travel. Even if you book a rental rather than a hotel, chances are the knives are terrible. Let your friends revel in their cooking with these books.
Here are some of the best regional cookbooks available:
If they love Italian food: Marcella Hazan’s Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking is the holy grail. (And her butter tomato sauce is one of the best things that I made this year.)
If they love Thai food: Pailin Chongchitnant’s Hot Thai Kitchen is one of the best and most comprehensive.
If they love Mexican food: David Sterling’s Yucatán: Recipes from a Culinary Expedition got a lot of praise.
If they love New York or the South: Marcus Samuelsson’s The Red Rooster Cookbook. Red Rooster is the restaurant that convinced me to move to Harlem!
If they love unusual or emerging cuisines: Naomi Duguid’s Taste of Persia, Fran Osseo-Asare and Barbara Baeta’s The Ghana Cookbook, Gunnar Karl Gíslason’s North: The New Nordic Cuisine of Iceland, and Gastón Acurio’s Peru: The Cookbook are all splendid choices.
I also want to throw in a shout-out to Chrissy Teigan’s Cravings — seriously, everything in this cookbook is amazing. Her jok moo (Thai pork rice porridge) is rhapsodic, and her Thai pork-stuffed cucumber soup is as healthy and yummy as it is hilarious.
Legal Nomads Food Map Prints and Accessories
My friend Jodi who created the gluten-free travel cards has also created beautiful maps featuring food from Italy, Thailand, Vietnam, Mexico, Japan, and Portugal. They are perfect to have in your kitchen as prints; you can also get them on tote bags and t-shirts.
Jodi has been severely ill for the last few months and unable to work, so if you’re looking to buy a beautiful gift while also supporting someone who could use a helping hand, the Legal Nomads shop is a great place to spend your money.
Cost: Prints from $18 on Legal Nomads. Totes from $30, t-shirts from $24.99.
Rent the Runway Gift Card
You know what makes a short trip even better? Having a fabulous new dress to rock! This is especially good for bachelorettes, girls’ trips, and destination weddings. Why buy a new dress that you’re only going to wear once when you can rent a designer dress for much cheaper?
Rent the Runway is now also offering unlimited memberships for regular clothes that you can borrow and send back whenever you’d like.
I rented that dress above, along with earrings and a matching necklace, for an out-of-state wedding (what’s up, wine pockets??), and I’m looking forward to renting two sparkly dresses for my upcoming Vegas trip!
Cost: Dresses from around $30, jewelry from around $5, unlimited from $59. Get $30 off your first rental with this link.
Travel Coffee Table Books
Coffee table books really pull a room together and give you a chance to show your personality. And because coffee table books are on display, this is one case where you should judge a book by its cover.
This year my friends Mike and Anne Howard published Ultimate Journeys for Two: Extraordinary Destinations on Every Continent. It makes a great coffee table book but it’s also chock full of information on unusual travel destinations, many of which I hadn’t heard of (and for me to say that, that’s a BIG deal). It’s great even if you’re not part of a couple.
Some other coffee table books I recommend are Eighty Four Rooms (gorgeous boutique hotels), Poolside with Slim Aarons (or anything Slim Aarons — amazing luxury travel photography from the 1950s-1970s), NY Through the Lens (beautiful New York photography), Living in Style: Scandinavia (Nordic design), Havana, the New York Times’ 36 Hours In US and Canada or New York Times’ 36 Hours in Europe, and Steve McCurry: The Unguarded Moment.
