My dog's rule is that everything is a communal activity.

Somebody walks through the door? We ALL go say hi.

Feeding time? Someone else BETTER stand there and watch her get fed, even though I am the only one who needs to be there since I'm the one who feeds her.

I don't know if this is because she likes us or because she wants an audience.

fun thing about herding and/or generally neurotic breeds: they are really good at following rules you have instituted, but they will also make their own Dog Rules they will follow stringently whether or not you like it
