Hobie likes to joke that his type is Miles Morales, since he's dating both Miles and Miles-42.

Punkprowler where Hobie and Miles G hang out in each other's dimensions and Hobie shows Miles his handmade patch collection and Miles shows him his secret handpainted bottlecap fandom pin collection

They trade pins and patches and Hobie goes home with about ten new pins attached to his battle vest and guitar case, and Miles G walks away with ten new patches that he slowly starts adding to his backpack, pencil case, and one of his hoodies over the next couple days and people in his class notice and start talking to him about how cool they are (cue Miles G opening up more to his class), and when his mom does catch him on a rare off day she notices the new colorful additions to the things he's had for years, and notices there are more relaxed smiles on his face and that warms her heart

Then months fly by and Miles G and Hobie hang out when they're not prowling around town or fighting fascists on a Tuesday night and then they both look at each other with a smirk like the teenagers they are and are easy-going sitting on the roof of a high building as the sun sets and Miles G asks him about his piercings. Hobie joyfully explains each one and waggles his eyebrows asking Miles G if he wants his ears pierced. Miles G, feeling particularly rebellious, says yes

Cue night time where Miles G returns home with his hoodie on and gets a soda from the fridge while his mom is in the kitchen, and when Miles G turns his head his mom catches something sparkle in his ear past his hoodie and she slowly pulls his jacket sleeve towards herself and looks into her son's 'caught with his hand in the cookie jar face' as she slowly lowers his hoodie, and two small regular studs are now glittering in Miles G's ears.

His mom carefully inspects each one and breathes in and sighs thoughtfully and then she says:

"Okay mijo who is the girl?"

And Miles G almost chokes on his soda right then and there

sometimes, I'll be reading an atsv fic and come across one word or way of phrasing or encounter, and all of a sudden just know the author is black. on the flipside, sometimes writers will write in a certain way that makes it obvious they're decidedly not 💀

look ok there are a lot of things I'd like to see in Beyond the Spiderverse, but the only one I think will happen is Gwen's team showing up on Earth 42 in the middle of a fight - maybe a Sinister Six face-off, or Miles' trying to flee his uncle and the Prowler, idk - either way: Hobie fucking Brown is going to show up mask-off in the middle of this, and he is going to nod at Miles G. mid-fight, and Miles G. is going to be like ???????¿¿????, but he is absolutely definitely going to nod back
