31 runs in 1 over. Arjun Tendulkar of MI becomes part of an unwanted tally.
At Wankhede Stadium on Saturday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Mumbai Indians' Youngster Arjun Tendulkar took his debut wicket against Punjab Kings in front of the home fans. He also ended up being included in an unfavorable record. With his 16th over, Arjun delivered the second-most costly over by a MI bowler in the IPL after giving up 31 runs. Daniel Sams is ranked #1 after giving up 35 runs to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2022. Pawan Suyal against Royal Challengers Bangalore (2014), Alzarri Joseph against Rajasthan Royals (2019), and Mitchell McClenaghan against PBKS (2017) all let up 28 runs, tying them for third place. In Saturday's game, Arjun's over proved to be significant as it switched the momentum in Punjab Kings' direction. Read More...

DAY 5913
Jalsa, Mumbai Apr 26/27, 2024 Fri/Sat 12:01 PM
🪔 ,
April 27 .. birthday greetings to Ef Satish Shetye .. and Ef Aayush Kundal Divyang from Indore .. keep well and happy .. 🙏🏻🚩❤️
So late again but never neglected .. and after the late rise due to late 😴 .. a quick morning exigencies .. exigencies ? , if they can be addressed thus , and a bit of the yoga pranayama प्राणायाम .. for whatever it be worth at this age and time .. done and now because of differenced schedules a quick march across to the vyayamshala, which in the conversational talkathon of this generation be a gymnasium .. which where and how it came to be is perhaps unknown but ..
what is known is that it came from a German word, or Scandinavian which referred to a School preparing students for an entrance examination ..
BUT .. here is more .. it came in the 16th Century from a Latin Greek word 'gumnasiom' from 'gumnazein' to exercise naked from word 'gumnos' meaning naked ..
aaahhhhh .. the beauty of word renditions and their history ..
thank God the modern day Gym setups are not following the Latin/Greek traditions of 'gumnos'
🥹
So to get back to the Blog and the post .. I be off now to the .. yes the place of exercise .. and NOT following the LatinoGreek 'gumnos' tradition ..
more in later times ..
some reading to be done .. of scripts presented from various sources and a desired response from them that delivered it ..
So yes .. !
And .. Oh Gosh !! .. what is the IPL turning out to be .. never ever imagine that KRK after scoring 261 in 20, would ever be defeated by Punjab at 262 for 2 or 3 I think ..
I had given up the game and shifted away .. and then looked up the result and immediately went back to the replay ..
This is amazing and the volume of the talent that is emerging in each game is simply STUNNING .. !!
Given a chance .. the emergence is phenomenal !!
NOT JUST IN CRICKET .. BUT IN EVERY FIELD ..
We never had that opportunity before .. but now within over 75 years of Independence and Freedom - from 1947 to 2024 .. the emergence of talent and opportunity and progress is INCOMPARABLE !!
Jai Hind 🇮🇳
Love ❤️

Pakistan's most-populous province of Punjab has imposed a ban on almost all open-air activities and ordered stores, markets and malls in some areas to close early as high levels of air pollution cause an unprecedented rise in smog-driven illnesses.
Schools have also closed in the main cities of the province, of which Lahore is the capital, with all the restrictions to run until November 17.
Earlier this month, Lahore, which regularly ranks among the world's most polluted cities, had an air pollution index score of 1,900 in some places, according to Swiss group IQAir.
Although the level is now lower, its index score of more than 600 on Monday still means that residents are breathing highly toxic air, with 0-50 considered the target score.
What did the Punjab government say?
"The spread of conjunctivitis/pink eye disease due to bacterial or viral infection, smoke, dust or chemical exposure is posing a serious and imminent threat to public health," the Punjab government said.
It said open-air sports events, exhibitions, festivals and restaurant dining were prohibited, but "unavoidable religious rites" could still take place.
Pharmacies, oil depots, dairy shops and fruit and vegetable shops are also to be allowed to stay open beyond the 8 p.m. local time closing time stipulated in the directive.
What is causing the smog?
Air pollution rises each winter in several regions of South Asia as cold air traps dust, factory and vehicle emissions and smoke from stubble burning on farms.
In addition, the Punjab government is blaming the air pollution crisis this year on neighboring India.
The pollution problems there have been made worse by the smoke emitted by firecrackers set off on Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights celebrated on October 31 this year, despite a ban.
Children at risk
UNICEF on Monday called for more to be done to save children from the deleterious effects of air pollution.
The UN's child protection agency said the toxic air in the region was putting more than 11 million children below five years of age at risk.
"In addition, schools in smog-affected areas have been closed ... the learning of almost 16 million children in Punjab has been disrupted," said Abdullah Fadil, UNICEF representative in the country, adding that the country could ill afford more learning losses.
The WHO says that air pollution can trigger strokes, heart disease, lung cancer and other respiratory diseases.
Children, especially babies, and the elderly are the groups most at risk.

JINKX M F MONSOON BAYBEEEEEEEE!!! Wow!!! They totally carry this episode! They took this good episode and made it great, extremely memorable. I really hope this isn't a one time thing because W O W! Hell of a performance from Jinkx, top notch. Maybe the best single story villain yet, and if they come back then they're in the running for top recurring.
A little surprised the twist that Maestro is related to the Toy Maker and isn't the Master, I think it's a nice twist for anyone who is a long time fan, because I know my ears perked when I heard that name, as the Master loved to use names that were synonyms for Master back in the 3rd Doctor era.
Ruby is much better in this. Ncuti as the Doctor is still *fantastic*
All the 4th wall breaks feel like they are leading somewhere
The writing was... better than Space Babies, but I'm ready for some non-RTD scripts. Amazing how this both feels like a new era but also like RTD never really left, like this feels like you pick up from 10 but feels new. I like it. It's just fun, the show doesn't have its head up it's own ass like the Moffat era and isn't overloaded with companions and convoluted plot like 13 (even though both eras had some great stuff and 13 is up there with 7 as one of the most underrated Doctors).
That musical number was something! It's very fun! Maybe it's the queer musical kid in me, but I really like it, even if the song is only okay. I feel like it's leading somewhere with the musical numbers, the song in Ruby's soul, the 4th wall breaks. It's super fun and colorful and almost cartoony in a good way.
Direction, production design, costuming, and cinematography were top notch as always, this era of the show is really nailing the color, style, look, feel, and production of the show. The substance is *almost* there. It's so close. It feels like Doctor Who, but also brand new, and that's exactly what I wanted.
Overall, really great. On to the Moffat episode (oh G-d please be good like the old RTD-Moffat episodes)

hi i feel the question must be asked - thoughts on the soundtrack and scoring from 13's era as compared to murray gold's work?
sigh... honestly? complicated. i have a lot of feelings and many of them are contradictory.
i'll start with this: it's one of my personal favorite things about thirteen's era, though admittedly the bar is low. i think segun akinola is an incredibly talented composer and when his music is good, it's GOOD. i loved all the times he played with the beginning and end credits to suit the episode, like in demons of the punjab and village of the angels, that kicked ass every time. i really appreciate what he brought to the show, i just wish.... hm. how do i put this. i wish his talents had been utilized better.
like. here's my absolute favorite song from the era. it's unbelievably great. it slaps so hard when played in the show AND when listened to in isolation.
and thirteen's full theme? one of the most gorgeous character themes i've ever heard, and it suits thirteen really well.
but a lot of the other stuff.... i just feel kind of meh about. i've listened to all of the scores all the way through in order to complete my ultimate doctor who playlist, and one thing i noticed is that there's a lot of songs on the album that just kind of feel like four separate songs stitched together with like 30 seconds of one droning note in between. at one point, i took notes on one of the songs to try and explain my feelings about it.
that was in regards to this song:
try listening to the song with my commentary if you get the chance, it's kind of the easiest way to see/hear what i mean in this post.
anyway here's an example of a song with very little of the silence that was boring bothering me so much:
"I'm Not Giving Up" is over 3 whole minutes shorter than "All Is Ending". can you guess how much silence there is in "All Is Ending"? (hint: if you guessed about three minutes and fifty-two seconds, you'd be correct.)
i listen to a lot of different orchestral music. i haven't run into any other composers who do this with full album releases, and it just kind of confuses me? i'm not a music theory person, so if there's some reason for this i wouldn't know it, but it makes some of these songs kind of suck to listen to in a playlist. if they were cut down into separate songs, i'd be far more enthusiastic.
the other thing i'm not crazy about are the character themes. the doctor, the master, the cybermen, and the daleks all have recognizable themes, and they're pretty good. except... imo all of them except the doctor's are massively overused. i don't think this is inherently akinola's fault, nor is it a problem exclusive to thirteen's era -- i seriously cannot listen to murray gold's "I Am The Doctor" anymore because of how much the show overused it, despite it being objectively a pretty great song.
but other than those four, did you know there are character themes for the companions? because i didn't until a couple weeks ago, and like i said, i've listened to all of these songs front to back with careful analysis AND seen all of these episodes at least twice each. i never picked up on these character leitmotifs 😭😭😭 i would say that that's on me for not perceiving them, except i know i'm not the only one. pretty much everyone i've talked to has been surprised to hear there are character themes. if you're curious, here's a youtube series exploring those themes and when they're used. it's a good, informative series with well made videos, but the whole time i was just kind of frustrated that i wasn't able to really pick up on these motifs. even now, i can't remember what yaz's leitmotif sounds like. i honestly have no idea, i would have to go back to the video and check. it just doesn't stick into my brain in the same way, say, donna's theme or bill's theme do.
furthermore, this is graham's theme. the whole thing. this is all of it.
for comparison's sake, here's rose's theme.
and if that's not the perfect microcosm of how these characters feel to me like. in terms of complex characterization and interesting arcs and feeling like real people. complex themes aren't always better, that's not what i'm saying -- more that the companions aren't really allowed to be important in the same way that they used to be.
graham's theme doesn't appear until episode four. and then doesn't reappear until the last two episodes of the series. meanwhile rose's theme is like. so recognizable from the very first note & it plays at crucial moments (first example off the top of my head is the ending of The End of the World). clara's theme is so recognizable that it can play in a scene that doesn't feature her at all After she left the show and yet in a way that completely evokes her presence. you couldn't do that with the thirteenth doctor's companion's themes, and even if you did, the audience uhhh. probably wouldn't notice!
i struggle to articulate my feelings about akinola's music, especially in comparison to gold's. gold's music is so important to me and i genuinely rank him among the best composers ever. i really, really like segun akinola... when he's allowed to make any noise. but most of the time with the sound mixing his music just fades to the background to the point of silence, forgotten entirely, and it's a shame.
tl;dr i dislike how akinola's songs are cut in the released albums, i think a lot of those songs needed to be cut down a little bit from the versions in the episode, and some of it probably could have stayed unreleased. i do wish his character themes were more recognizable, and i wish the ones that were recognizable weren't overused to the point of annoying me. i think he's a fantastically talented composer, and most of my problems with how his music on the show is used are not inherently his fault. i vastly prefer murray gold's music, but that's more a testament to how much i love murray gold than any amount of dislike of segun akinola. i'm excited both for gold's return to who and to see what akinola does next. if you prefer his music to gold's, i totally get you and i'm kissing you on the mouth. most of this is just personal preference!
sorry for how long this got. the doctor who soundtrack is, like, the ultimate autism topic for me. i'd love to talk more about it, feel free to send me asks or whatever anytime :3

A long-simmering diplomatic spat between India and Canada escalated dramatically on Monday as Ottawa expelled six Indian officials, including the country’s top diplomat, implicating them in the killing of a Sikh separatist who was fatally shot outside a temple in British Columbia last year.
India, which has rejected the allegations, responded in kind by ejecting six Canadian diplomats, including the country’s acting high commissioner.
An ongoing Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) investigation into the 2023 killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, an Indian-born citizen of Canada, found links to the six Indian officials, the Canadian government said. After India refused to waive their diplomatic immunity so that they could cooperate with the probe, Ottawa moved to expel the officials.
“The decision to expel these individuals was made with great consideration and only after the RCMP gathered ample, clear and concrete evidence which identified six individuals as persons of interest in the Nijjar case,” Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly said in a statement.
The Indian officials are alleged by the RCMP to have been directly involved in the gathering of intelligence on Sikh separatists in Canada, which is home to the largest Sikh population outside of India, according to Canadian government statistics.
Canada has previously accused India’s government of involvement in the killing of Nijjar, who was designated a terrorist by New Delhi in 2020 for his leadership of an organization called the Khalistan Tiger Force. The Indian government pointed to Nijjar’s social media posts, saying that that they contained “seditionary and insurrectionary imputations” that were “attempting to create disharmony among different communities in India.”
India has consistently denied involvement in Nijjar’s death, and in a lengthy statement published on Monday, New Delhi accused Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of “smearing India for political gains,” adding that Trudeau’s government had “not shared a shred of evidence” with India and has ignored multiple extradition requests of “terrorists and organized crime leaders living in Canada.”
The diplomatic dust-up has been decades in the making. Scores of Sikhs fled India in the 1980s and 1990s amid a violent crackdown on the Khalistan movement, which called for a separate nation-state for Sikhs in the Indian state of Punjab.
Canada was among the most popular destinations at the time, and the country’s Sikh population now numbers nearly 800,000, according to the 2021 census. And while supporters of Khalistan are believed to make up only a small proportion of that population, the blurring of domestic and foreign policy in Canada—coupled with an increasingly belligerent Indian foreign policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi—has set the stage for a breakdown in bilateral relations.
“Of all the countries [where the Sikh diaspora fled in the 1980s], Canada is the only one where the population is large enough to sway constituencies in domestic politics,” said Aparna Pande, the director of the India Initiative at the Hudson Institute, a think tank based in Washington, D.C. “India as a 77-year-old modern state was created by the breakup of the country, and it has dealt with several separatist movements since then. So for the Indian state, any individual who talks about separatism is an anathema, and anyone who supports this is seen to be supporting the breakup of the country,” she added.
The long-standing nature of the tensions was also highlighted by the RCMP alleging the involvement of Indian government agents in “serious criminal activity” more broadly, saying it had “successfully investigated and charged a significant number of individuals for their direct involvement in homicides, extortions and other criminal acts of violence” over the past few years.
The diplomatic rupture comes at a time when India has increasingly been accused of practicing “transnational repression,” a term used to describe efforts by governments to reach across borders to harass, silence, and even kill critics abroad.
Transnational repression is a growing phenomenon that is mostly commonly associated with authoritarian states such as China and Russia, the latter of which has made headlines in recent years over its brazen attempts to poison and assassinate its critics in Europe.
Governments have long sought to keep tabs on—and at times silence—their critics abroad, but the rising tide of authoritarianism around the world and the advent of the internet have fueled a recent surge. “Everything shows that these trends are on the rise,” said Dana Moss, a professor at the University of Notre Dame who studies the phenomenon.
Last week, Ken McCallum—the head of MI-5, Britain’s domestic intelligence agency—said in rare public remarks that the country was facing a “staggering rise” in assassination and sabotage attempts from Russia and Iran. Both countries have sought to recruit criminals to carry out the attacks, with 20 potentially lethal Iranian-backed plots uncovered since the beginning of 2022.
Populist democracies such as Turkey and India are also becoming increasingly aggressive in pursuit of their political foes. In November 2023, the U.S. Justice Department accused an Indian official of directing a plot to assassinate a U.S.-based Sikh activist. And Ankara has dramatically stepped up efforts to forcibly return its perceived enemies from overseas since an attempted coup in 2016.
Yet these same countries’ geopolitical importance often complicates Western efforts to respond forcefully to their actions. Turkey is a NATO ally, for instance, and India plays a crucial role in Western efforts to balance China in the Indo-Pacific.
This balancing act was thrown in stark relief by the 2018 killing of Saudi Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi by Saudi operatives in the country’s consulate in Turkey. U.S. President Joe Biden vowed on the campaign trail in 2019 to turn Riyadh into a “pariah” state over the killing, yet his administration has instead courted the country, viewing it as a pivotal player in U.S. efforts to redraw the contours of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
India’s linchpin role in Western efforts against major adversaries such as China and Russia has similarly complicated the United States’ own allegations against the Modi government of assassination attempts against a Sikh separatist on U.S. soil. In its own indictment, unsealed in November, the Justice Department accused an Indian citizen named Nikhil Gupta of colluding with an unnamed Indian government official to try to assassinate Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a pro-Khalistan activist and U.S. citizen based in New York. Gupta was arrested in the Czech Republic and extradited to the United States earlier this year.
Pande, the expert from the Hudson Institute, said that the United States’ relatively by-the-book approach to the Pannun case has stood in stark contrast to Canada’s approach to Nijjar’s case. In the latter, Trudeau and Joly have been at the forefront of publicly leveling accusations against India. Biden, on the other hand, has allowed himself a degree of diplomatic wiggle room by letting the Justice Department and intelligence agencies take the lead without weighing in publicly himself.
“The U.S. didn’t stand on a bully pulpit,” Pande added.
India has also treated the U.S. allegations far more delicately, pledging cooperation from the outset. Even as Canada’s and India’s mutual diplomatic expulsions were confirmed on Tuesday, an Indian investigative team arrived in Washington, D.C., to discuss the attempted Pannun assassination with U.S. officials.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, New Delhi also informed the Biden administration that the government official referenced in the November indictment—known only as “CC-1”—is no longer in the government and has been placed under arrest. (The Indian Embassy in Washington declined to comment).
Those developments reflect the degree of realpolitik between India and the United States, whose bilateral relationship has grown markedly closer under the Biden administration. And while the broader fallout of the India-Canada breakdown remains to be seen (further complicated by the fact that the number of Indians emigrating to Canada has more than quadrupled over the past decade), Washington will likely face limited collateral damage.
“There’s a huge difference between the India-Canada relationship and the India-U.S. relationship in every sense,” Pande said. “The U.S. has a remarkable ability to engage with countries that don’t get along with each other.”

Doctor Who Theme: Round 1
Demons of the Punjab
"Akinola also arranged a special version of the Doctor Who theme in the style of traditional Indian music for the end credits of Demons of the Punjab to reflect the setting and emotional poignancy of the episode and its incidental music in a similar style throughout. Shahid Abbas Khan, who sang throughout the episode's score, vocally performed the melody for this arrangement."

Village of the Angels
"Village of the Angels, also had a special rendition, giving it a more spooky vibe and also leaving out the bass line and the drums. It was also interrupted by glitch sounds in the middle of it to make room for a mid-credits scene."
