Séance 4 : Nap Time ☁️

Hello ! Je reviens avec une petite séance de Sakura, elle date d'il y a quelques temps mais je n'avais jamais eu l'occasion de la poster, la voilà enfin :)

Decided to go with Disney Descendants Mal for my Etoile Pullip (who has a very pale cream skin tone - normal for Pullip) instead of the pale Mengfan body.

The DD body is more rounded and cute while fitting Rainbow High clothes and shoes.

I already had Benie-Rida (slightly yellow pale tone) on a Lonnie Disney Descendants. Haven't checked yet if DD Evie is too peachy or just right.

Rida's clothing options just opened considerably with the RH match!

Papin/Primavera is on LIV, Midnight on OoaZombie.

My Melody/Clémence and Assa/Renée (Poisongirl repaint) are on Obitsu WS,

Rida/Benie, Etoile undomiel and soon Stica will be on Disney Descendants.

I'm going to keep an eye out for more Descendants as I'd really like to move away from Obitsu - they fall apart far too easily for my taste.

The Mengfan body makes a nice display option if you have enough Integrity Toys sized clothing. Would probably need glue sueding at the hips and some minor neck reinforcement for the weight of the head.

Current bits and bobs. 

*Finally got myself non-jewelry wire cutters that just nip through plastic like butter. Bye bye switching between kitchen scissors and wirecutters for neck anchors or fiddling with the craft knife on sprue! aliexpress.com/item/32958194576.html

*Thought i’d show you my set up for hair processing: I repackage hair with either electrical ties or garden wire when I’ve run out. Metallic/fancy twistie ties can stain or not be tight enough, the cardboard ones are rubbish. Pipecleaners rust unless you can find stainless steel ones. I seperate the hair out into smaller amounts, twist those ties very tight, then place it in a large ziplock baggie, bags can be smaller for saran as it follows the laws of gravity better =p

*The 12mm eye cabochons are in 3 parts not 1 printed paper + glass. Even my most delicate attempts left the pupil on the thin printed plastic skewed so painting over them is not an option. Sis made some black punch holes for me so I can paint my own because brown, grey and otherwise dark coloured eyes are hard to find. These are to slip in 20mm half round eyes or use on my pullips with older mechs.

*I had just left a five star review for the Anlily body (recognizable by the ribbon print panties) when the leg fell off sitting her down so I do not recommend that.

*Hastily put together Pullip and Star Darling arrays. I’m looking for suggestions for Pullip Rida’s body: It needs to be pale (which rules out Liv and Barbie), slightly yellow toned and most of all: solid. Obitsu is too much hassle, I don’t care about torso articulation, just want a body that won’t buckle, that can sit and has arm articulation. She’s currently on a modded “yaoilegs” body because the cleavage suits her but I don’t mind taking a flatter body and modding it to be busty. If Hasbro or Disney have made anything close to this tone i’m interested. I’m so happy with my Papin on Liv and Custom on MTM curvy: they pose like a treat and don’t flop. The obitsus are filled with foam, arm and knee joints stiff and still find ways of falling apart. I am this close to stuffing the entire torso and hips with friendly plastic.

Then we are also selling pukipuki ante for 200 with a wig(without a faceup she is about 188 and the wig around 20)+shipping+paypal fee. Her faceup is by Delicate-reflections. But unfortunately she somehow got a stain on her lip. Which is why her price does not include the faceup. She is new, white skin, comes with her box and extra magnets(Got her in may this year) Then we are selling little bird(leeke world) for 100$+shipping+paypal fee

Obitsu fixing

First pullip doll I chose to take apart was the closest to me, Renée, the Poison Girl custom (n°5 and unsigned, from way back when she first opened commissions), formerly a Assa that was covered in superglue inside and out. Bad choice because that lead to hours of work LOL. You see, when Assa (now Renée) first arrived, my priority was getting her open as everything including the head cap was melted shut then once I realized I couldn’t save her face up as it’d been eaten by superglue, cleaning the face plate for customization. I reconstructed the broken neck hole and screw notches with two part epoxy and reinforced the cracking plastic where both plates had fused but that’s the extent of it really.

In the years since then I’ve learned so much about plastics and had access to far better tools for repair. Back then I only had access to sandpaper in large sizes via the hardware store and you’d have to buy a pack with max 3 grits, today I can choose between a magic eraser and 8 different grits of sandpaper pasted on a sponge for finger nail care. I have pry tools that mean I won’t break nails or scratch the obitsu, and friendly plastic that holds up far better than crumbling emergency sink-repair epoxy.

It’s amazing just how much you learn over time because when I went to check on Renée’s Obitsu today I  was kind of horrified that she was in such bad condition because OMG I can fix that, I can tidy this, that mod won’t hold up but here’s a better one... you know? So Renée has been a beautiful faceplate on a janky hacked together backplate until now. Now she’s a beautiful face plate on a slightly less janky but still clumsily repaired humpty dumpty of a doll.

aaaanyways, back on topic, the craft foam used in the Obitsu’s has held up and didn’t stain, it just need a little adding to for some dolls. The elastics holding the necks either crumbled or turned into solid plastic blocks so I replaced them with teflon tape. I also tidied all the hastily scraped and sanded Obitsu nipnops for nice smooth boobage.

Renée got lots of sanding, scraping and all 3 screw bits were cracking and got repaired with thermo-plastic. I’m not posting pictures of her gross yellowed glue streaked backplate because they’re kind of ew.

Rida needed the neck anchor reinforcing with teflon tape and also the tiny piece of metal that holds the round part of the anchor so that her head no longer flops.

My Melody had a body that flopped backwards so I added extra foam to the prexisting blue stuff (yellow harder foam at the top and white thinner foam inside) and a plastic spine of sorts at the bottom end.

This is when my camera stopped and wanted recharging so I switched to the phone:

Papin just needed teflon tape, her liv body with a carved neck and homemade washers are holding up great. I used plastic washers for a little more flexibility than metal here. Knees a little weak but not bad considering how heavy Papin is with her big head and rainbow wig.

This is the kind of mod I hope to do with a Barbie made to move curvy body eventually.
