Many people are jealous of Santana Lopez for being born into a wealthy family, but what they don’t know is that it, of course, came with a price. Her parents both had successful jobs so Santana spent a majority of her time as a child with her Abuela. She was a child with a ton of energy and even a bit of bottled up anger due to her parents, so her Abuela put her into dance and cheer. That ended up being how she spent a good amount of her time as a kid, needing something to help her channel and get rid of some of her energy and anger.

Santana’s high school life was one with less focus on school and more on her sizable social life. It was after a game of spin the bottle in 9th grade that resulted in a kiss with Brittany that helped Santana to figure out that she was bi. After that realization she partook in a series of one night stands and hookups with guys and girls alike. There was one person, though, that Santana had actual feelings for and that was Finn. She knew that things felt different with him than the other random hookups, but her distaste for commitment led her to break up with him a number of times and resulted in a definite on again/off again relationship.

After graduating high school, Santana went on to NYU and graduated with flying colors. She was now set to start NYU Law School with big plans to become a lawyer. She lives with her best friend, Mercedes, in New York and lives a pretty comfortable life. Her parents pay her tuition and are still in the dark about her secret job at Hooters that pretty much goes entirely to buying clothes and makeup. Santana’s only current grievance is her best friend’s upcoming wedding to the absolute wrong guy. She knows that Mercedes doesn’t really love Puck, and she hopes that the two of them open their eyes and put a stop to all of this before they end up married to the person that they aren’t meant to be with.

Finn Hudson: Santana lost her virginity to Finn during the 9th grade. After that, they never spoke or hooked up again until a tenth grade away game where they fooled around at the back of the bus. That morphed into two years of dating and breaking up constantly because Santana would never let him get close. By senior year, Finn was tired of the game, and he started dating Quinn exclusively until the summer after her freshman year of college. 

Mercedes Jones: Ever since the two were toddling around in their diapers, their parent’s knew this was a lasting friendship. As they got older, Santana helped Mercedes come out of her shell and be a bit more fearless; while Mercedes helped Santana soften up. After high school, they moved to NYC together and now Santana’s the maid of honor for Mercedes’ wedding to Puck. The thing is, she’s planning on putting a stop to it. 

Noah Puckerman: Puck and Santana were friends with benefits in high school. They always knew they could call each other up to get laid, without having to worry about feelings and commitments. This helped them develop a pretty genuine friendship. Both parties are able to have heart to hearts or joke around with the other.
