My Musings

Being innately empathetic I have often found it hard to put into words exactly what empathy feels like.

Empathy to me is when I’m completely feeling what someone else is feeling it is when I am overcome with second hand embarrassment. It is when I can feel the stress my friend must be feeling over a work assignment. It is when I am reading a case study of a serial adulterer who dabbles in various contrabands and addiction and I can still feel the sheer disappointment they must feel for themselves the feeling of being a failure the feeling of self sabotaging even though they know better.

However these are all moments and feelings and now though I know what empathy feels like it is enlightening to read the definitions we first saw in year one and reflect on how those words mean so much more now that I as a person have grown. This is why I am starting this account to be able to reflect on the basics, on acts so ingrained you can’t think of a definition.

É um tanto complicado definir sentimentos somente com palavras bonitas ou mesmo frases prontas. O desafio mesmo está em transmitir nas palavras toda a energia que flui desde o mais profundo do seu coração até a ponta dos seus dedos. Na verdade o que vem de dentro do peito nada mais é do que a energia cósmica que o universo nos proporciona quando decidimos enxergar o amor como ele é em essência. Somos todos feitos de energia. Essa energia flui em nossa alma, em nosso espírito, em nossos corações. Transmitimos isso ao outro de muitas maneiras. Não sabemos muitas vezes o que dizer e falar por simplesmente não termos a capacidade de definir aquilo que sentimos. Mas olha só... temos uma boa notícia. Isso tudo se chama amor. É, amor. Amor que nos permite ir além de todo egoísmo e todo individualismo. De independentes, passamos a ser interdependentes. Enxergamos e sentimos esse amor de uma maneira que talvez nunca iremos sentir novamente, porque, tendo em vista que somos seres predestinados, desde nossa árvore cósmica que determina nossos signos, uma vez encontrado o amor, assim como o tempo, ele não deve ser desperdiçado. Eu aprendi dessa maneira. Apesar de o tempo ter sido implacável como o amor foi pra mim, a cada dia que passa seu valor dentro de mim cresce ainda mais.
