Patrick Bateman is a rich psychico but he's not a full person. He's a fuckin idiot. All his opinions are just other people's opinions. His opinions on music is just something he read in a magazine. At the restaurant he just says some generic shit about apartheid. He only wants the Dorzia reservation because of how hard it is to get in there and the prestige of it, he doesn't give a shit about the food.

This scene shows he knows fuck all about graphic design, all he knows is just some key things that sound impressive, ones he's been told make it impressive (the off white colour, the watermark etc.) but meanwhile he's missing the glaringly obvious things that are obvious to a regular person. It's almost like he's a phycopath that's pretending to understand the values of rich Americans. Like he's some sort of American Psycho.
