Have you tried powering down the unit and hitting restart?

I was diagnosed a few years ago with something called vestibular migraines. Unlike your "everyday-run of the mill" migraine they settle on my inner ear and wreck havoc with what feels like my everything. It's my very own sensory deprivation chamber. My first wrestle with these was a 3 month battle. Coming up with a diagnosis for this meant they must first rule out everything else. I prayed a lot during this time. I was going to the doctors, asking for rides to the hospital (because I couldn't drive) and begging my doctors initially to offer me any relief. Only to be told to go home and rest. It would likely pass in a day or 2... or weeks. They weren't sure.

I felt failed by the health care system. I felt like only half a person. It often I seemed like the only one who could understand how broken I felt was God. I wondered why he wouldn't just heal me. Although I wouldn't try to barter with Him knowing that my promises are frail compared to the span of a life. I would only pray that if this was my life moving forward let it be useful. As frustrating as all that was it made me think of Paul. Who spent the later part of his life in pain in jail chained to a Roman soldier. Then I would think of Nick Vujicic who is a quadriplegic evangelist bringing so many to Christ. It gave me both hope and despair.

Since I was a child I have felt a calling to be with God. Only the Lord knows how all this plays out and although I am a willing participant in his stage I felt strong before and defeated after. I would pray with crocodile tears asking for his help because I just could not move forward. Then in the bowels of hopelessness coming to reason that all my test were negative and I was being found time again to be completely fit and healthy lying on my couch unable to move in the spin of severe vertigo I gave up my fight. That's when it hit me.... All the things I was missing.

Sometimes he's makes us pause. Like a forced shut down on my computer I think, "Did I hit save" Or "have lost/forgotten something in the manual power down". When the truth is we do loose something. But I think they are bits of us that aren't useful any longer. Like my computer, rebuilding the data lost is never quite the same. The task is grueling and often ends up feeling different somehow. I am different some how too.

Powering up from this I realize the need to be present with my loved ones, friends and coworkers alike. I began to recognize the powerful feeling it gives people when we check on them and let them know they matter. Sometimes I feel like a brain connected to limbs. Like I'm rotating in the cogs of the machine. But now when these headaches flair up - as they are right now- I power down and notice that angst is in us all. The SOS of the Lord is to power down recharge and prioritize people over myself.

In truth what God has for us , Is For Us. I know I keep repeating that but it's true. I tend to want to hurry to the next part of my life because I want to know all the people I'm going to love right now. That way I can love them longer. But I'm not ready for them nor are they ready for me. A situation forced is not God breathed but human made. I don't want anything that isn't for me. Migraines, Limbs and Roman soldiers aside when He asks us to listen we need to stop and pay attention because there is always a lesson that will take us outside of safe zone and bring us ready for the next steps.

Psalm91:1-2 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."

Worked a bit late tonight... the Holy Spirit rose up in me to first pray and sing 🎶Psalms 91... this is the tune He gave me. After I left office, and got to my car- it started to rain- like a sprinkling rain. Not s big deal- it's been doing that on and off last 4 days... By the time I got 3 miles on the winding, hilly road of Rt 249 towards Rt 33, it started getting windy, VERY dark, and skies broke loose, with lightning. I kept singing and praying... at a much reduced speed- wipers at full speed, visibility at 5% if that... when I got on top of the West Point bridge- I had to pull over and capture these #unfiltered storm clouds! Then, when I turned into Rt 14 through Adner, at a wood area, wind burst hit hard, loud crashing boom sound, and in my rear view mirror I see a huge tree limb that JUST missed hitting me! Shortly after, I get a phone call from a dear friend asking if I was ok, that the Holy Spirit had her children and herself praying for my safety cause earlier they saw my car parked at the office. Friends- my life may have been sparred tonight, because the love of a praying family who yielded themselves to the Holy Spirit to pray for me... TOPIC - Our Identity in Christ

Identity is not how we see ourselves but it’s about how God sees us. One of the richest passages about identity in the Bible is found in Ephesians 1:3-14. In this passage, Paul addresses the church in Ephesus, explaining the new identity given to a person when they are in Christ.

According to Ephesians 1, we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing; we have been chosen, adopted, redeemed, forgiven, grace-lavished and unconditionally loved and accepted. We are pure, blameless and forgiven. We have received the hope of spending eternity with God. When we are in Christ, these aspects of our identity can never be altered by what we do.

Our identities, as believers, are in Jesus. We cannot be lower than Jesus. God made it clear there is nothing outside of His saving power. Nothing, says Romans 8:38-39, “will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (NIV).

We cannot be higher than Jesus. Jesus bestows on us an identity impossible to acquire on our own.

When I am tempted to think I am better than someone else, I am reminded that all are equal in Christ. His death and resurrection caused everyone to have that same identity: no lower than Christ and no higher. With Christ, we are awarded a new identity. Our value and importance comes directly from God. He is the standard of goodness and truth, and He claims us as His own.

WHO AM I / WHO ARE WE? WHAT IS OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST?

1. John 1:11-12 - He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.

Our first and main identity in Christ is that we are God’s children. We shouldn’t be recognized by our talents, our family name, our relationships, our jobs, our status, etc. God’s word tells us that we are His children. This is the one identity that the Satan is afraid of – that we are the sons and daughters of God. When we acknowledge that we are the children of God, then this identity, changes our talk. We no longer talk of depression, no more negative talk, no talk of defeat, etc.

The Spirit with which God anointed Jesus Christ, the same Spirit is upon you and me. We have the identity of a son/daughter and with that authority we can stand and flee the devil. We are being purchased by the spotless and blameless blood of Jesus and when we stand before the devil he knows who we are. No one can touch us because we have God’s power in us. Always confess – “I am God’s son or daughter and that heaven will open a door for me and heaven will stand for me”.

2. II Corin.5:20 - Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. In Christ, God has changed our identity and has called us ambassadors for Christ. As ambassadors, we are to convey God’s message to the world and that message is, “God’s kingdom has come near therefore repent of your sins”. As God’s ambassadors we are protected by God. For God gives His angels charge over us to keep us in all our ways (Psalm91:11)

3. John 7:38 - He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

We are the carrier of God’s power. The Scripture says that out of our hearts the rivers of living water will flow. This river is the anointing of the Holy Spirit. This river gives us the Holy experience. It gives us the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives in me and flows through me, hence we become the carriers of God’s power.

4. John 8:31 - Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.

God doesn’t work without His word. God’s word is the truth. Once you know the truth and you abide in that word you are His disciples. If you remain in the word then you will know the truth.

What is the truth? God says, “I am the Lord, the miracle working God, I am your redeemer, you are my children given authority and power, in my name there is healing, deliverance, etc”. All this truth you will know and then this truth will set you free.

Accept the truth and increase in the knowledge of the truth and be free. When we will know the truth, we will be blessed and we will be a blessing to others.

5. You are a person under the covenant of God. The Lord’s covenant of love extends to all of Abraham’s descendants, and we become a part of Abraham’s family in the same way that those first witnesses to the outpouring of the Spirit in Jerusalem did: “Repent, and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38).

Through our baptism we become “Abraham’s descendant, heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:26-29) and receive the pledge of the Spirit (2 Corinthians 1:22) as a promise of his faithfulness. The covenant with Abraham, fulfilled in Christ, is God’s assurance of his never-failing love for us.

When we are under the covenant, our weakness is turned into strength. The impossible things changed to possibilities. We remain protected by God.

What God says about us is found in His Word. Here are some things we are and have in Christ:

We are new creatures (2 Cor. 5:17).

We are the righteousness of God (2 Cor. 5:21).

We've been healed (1 Peter 2:24).

We've been made rich (2 Cor. 8:9).

We are accepted (Eph. 1:6).

We are free from sin (Rom. 6)

Psalm 23:4 says, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil." I like to say that verse like this: "Yea, though I walk through all of the mess that the devil tries to put on me, I will fear no evil. Through my identification with Christ, I can walk on scorpions and not be harmed. I can walk on anything that tries to get in my way and come out victoriously."

It's time for us to stand up and be who God says we are. And we need to let the devil know that we know who we are in Christ. Then anytime he tries to attack us, we can throw our shoulders back and say, "Don't mess with me. I'm identified with Christ!"

We thank you that we are chosen, adopted, redeemed, forgiven, loved, accepted and blessed. Work in progress. A recent trip to the Strand led to new material and thus, new work. I’m not sure where this is going but I like the bird imagery. My hope is to weave in contrasts to break the monotony of the palette and add a dark hue behind the figure or a touch of red to mimic the red of the parrot. SWITCH ON THE LIGHT.... Part 1 of 4. There is darkness all over the world, because the children of light has not switched on their lights. Darkness means absence of light. When there is darkness, all sort of immoralities and demonic spiritual activities become active, because the way of the wicked is darkness (Prov 4:29). This is why so much immoralities and crimes are committed under the cover of darkness at night, ranging from ritual killings, demonic sacrifices, enchantment, bewitchment, spells, prostitution, witchcraft and occult meetings and initiations, wild parties etc. It is also in the night when mankind sleep that the devil and agents of darkness always sow seeds of wickedness into people's lives(Matt 13:25). This is responsible for the evil dreams or nightmares many people have, which continue to rule and ruin their lives and destiny. The Bible records it that in the beginning, the earth was without form and void(empty). Why? Because darkness was ruling (over the deep)(Gen 1:2). Darkness is evil (Isaiah 5:20) and evil doers hide in darkness (Job 34:22) to carry out their evil and demonic acts. When darkness rule, there are emptiness(even in the minds of people), poverty, shame, slavery (Psalm 107:10), disorderliness, death and gloom(Job 10:22), terror (Job 24:17), blindness (Job 22:11), curse(Job 3:4), pestilence (Psalm91:6), frustration (Eccle5:17), imprisonment (Isaiah 42:7), aimlessness (John 12:35), difficulty, suffering, diseases, sin and immoralities, bondages and yokes and all sorts of evil. Satan and demonic spirits dwell and rule over the kingdom of darkness. This is why nights are well known for vigorous demonic and immoral activities. When mankind lost their light due to disobedience to God in the garden of Eden, darkness covers mankind and their generations.
