Learning to Walk Again
“Solitude is a gift from God, isolation as a tool of the enemy.” - Carey NieuwhofI
don't think I have ever seen the grief of losing a loved one summed up so truly and elegantly and simply."Getting over it so soon? But the words are ambiguous. To say the patient is getting over it after an operation for appendicitis is one thing; after he's had his leg off it is quite another. After that operation either the wounded stump heals or the man dies. If it heals, the fierce, continuous pain will stop. Presently he'll get back his strength and be able to stump about on his wooden leg. He has 'got over it.' But he will probably have recurrent pains in the stump all his life, and perhaps pretty bad ones; and he will always be a one-legged man. There will be hardly any moment when he forgets it. Bathing, dressing, sitting down and getting up again, even lying in bed, will all be different. His whole way of life will be changed. All sorts of pleasures and activities that he once took for granted will have to be simply written off. Duties too. At present I am learning to get about on crutches. Perhaps I shall presently be given a wooden leg. But I shall never be a biped again. "Still, there’s no denying that in some sense I ‘feel better’, and with that comes at once a sort of shame, and a feeling that one is under a sort of obligation to cherish and foment and prolong one’s unhappiness. I’ve read about that in books, but I never dreamed I should feel it myself. I am sure H. wouldn’t approve of it. She’d tell me not to be a fool. So, I’m pretty certain, would God.”
~ C S Lewis - "A Grief Observed"

THE GATHERING OF THE NATIONS
Tumblr media
‘Aliyah’ is the immigration of Jews from the diaspora to the Land of Israel (Eretz Yisrael in Hebrew). Also defined as “the act of going up” - that is, towards Jerusalem - “making Aliyah” by moving to the Land of Israel is one of Zionism’s most basic tenets.
The prophet Joel prophesies to future generations that a time would come. It would finally arrive when God brings His Chosen People back to the Land of Israel, returning from the diaspora (nations of the world) where they had been scattered for two thousand years, and that His Promises would begin to unfold rapidly. With the certainty of a Judge’s gavel, the Lord God of Israel states that He Will bring His people home, and we are to recognize that it is Him that is doing it. God is upholding the promise made to Avraham, Isaac, and Jacob of giving the Land of Israel. The surety that they would return and rebuild would come to pass because God is not a man that He can lie is again reiterated to us in Jeremiah 30: 3. Jeremiah is standing on the promises of the words of Moses, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that He should change his mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19, NIV). It will be termed “the latter days.”

The building up of Jerusalem – God’s promises being fulfilled.
It is interesting to note that both the Lord in the book of Joel (1-3) and Jesus (Yeshua, His Hebrew name) speak about judgment times. Judgment is at this time with the nations of the world. Their actions toward His People are the reason for the judgment. Verses 2 and 3 tell us that the reason for judgment is that the nations have “scattered” His People “among the nations” and “parted My Land.” These two monumental sins have worked against God’s People throughout history, and they are the opposite of what God has been doing in His People. He wishes to restore them to the Land from which the Greeks and the Romans banished them. He wishes to rebuild that which they lost. The time of their “warfare” is over (Isaiah 40:2), and God is “building up Jerusalem” for His Coming Kingdom in today’s world. Those nations who have stolen from His People, persecuted them, and hated them without a cause, will be judged.
Some nations took God’s silver and gold to Babylon and Rome (Joel 3:5), other countries deported His People from their Land (Joel 3:6), and God is raising them up through a modern word termed “Aliyah” (making a holy journey back to the Land), (Joel 3:7).
But what we should notice is that GOD is doing something during this time. He not only judges the nations who have cursed Israel, but He ROARS. He lets out a deep, full prolonged cry on behalf of His People, as the Lion of Judah (Joel 3:16) so loud and so powerful, like thunder from the sky, that the “heavens and the earth shall shake.” He becomes the STRONGHOLD, the HOPE of His People, and the STRENGTH of the children of Israel. This way, Israel (and the nations) will all know that HE IS GOD, and He reserves His Holy Mountain as HIS DWELLING PLACE. He will sit to judge the nations further, and Jesus the Messiah, when He Comes, will separate the “Sheep and the Goats,” Matthew 25:31-32) …. another time of judgment all based upon what reason? How the nations and individuals treated God’s Chosen People! It is all there, right in God’s Word, the Bible. Jerusalem will be “holy unto the Lord,” and Jerusalem will become the Lord’s Earthly Home.
Let’s Enter the Throne Room
Praise His Name Jerusalem is being built up by the Lord and the Jewish people are his laborers in building. “The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers together the outcasts of Israel” Psalm147:2, NKJV.
Rejoice in His Promises that the prophet Zechariah foretold of the days when Jerusalem would become a cup of trembling unto all the people round about it. (Zechariah 12:2). God has made a solemn promise to His City and People. “In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be like God, like the angel of the LORD before them” Zechariah 12:8, NKJV.
Pray that Israel will not rely on any other nation to save her from her enemies, that she, as a Nation will turn only to God. “Still our eyes failed us, watching vainly for our help; In our watching we watched for a nation that could not save us” Lamentations 4:17, NKJ. God Almighty wants Israel to look to Him alone and not to rely on other nations. He alone is their source of power and protection. “Save me, O God, by Your name, and vindicate me by Your strength” Psalm 54:1, NKJV.
Pray fervently that Israel turns to the Lord, alone...and does not follow the ways of other nations. “Turn us back to You, O LORD, and we will be restored...” Lamentations 5:21, NKJV. Please pray that every form of vice, evil and wicked way of our nations, be brought under control and outlawed in this nation. May Israel become the “holy” nation to which she has been called. Only through righteousness, repentance, and a true desire to be holy, can this come. It is the LORD who has promised, and will do it. (Jeremiah 31:34, Hebrews 8:12, and Jeremiah 33:8, NKJ).
These are exciting days where Bible prophecy is coming to pass so quickly. We see the words of the Lord jump off the pages of our Bibles, when we include Israel in our daily prayers and thoughts. We know that Jerusalem will be the City of His Coming Kingdom. It is so exciting to think about this in our days.
Until He Comes,

"He heals the heartbroken and bandages their wounds." Psalm 147,3 I know it hurts so badly. It's so tough. It's so hard. Believe me, I've been there. May be exactly where you are. No one can see your pain. But Jesus does. Search for Him. Trust Him. Talk to Him. He wants you to find Him. He wants to help you. Because He loves you like crazy! Give Him a chance. It's worth more than you can imagine. Trust me. #JesusFirst #jesus #healing #heartache #psalm147-3 #pain #keeptrusting #keeppraying #keepbelieving #keepfighting #cryoutforgod

My Friday Daily Blessings
November 3, 2-17
Be still quiet your heart and mind, the LORD is here, loving you talking to you...........
Friday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time (Roman Rite Calendar)
Lectionary 483
First Reading: Romans 9:1-5
Brothers and sisters: I speak the truth in Christ, I do not lie; my conscience joins with the Holy Spirit in bearing me witness that I have great sorrow and constant anguish in my heart.  For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my own people, my kindred according to the flesh.  They are children of Israel; theirs the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; theirs the patriarchs, and from them, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm147:12-13, 14-15, 19-20
"Praise the Lord, Jerusalem."
Verse before the Gospel: John 10:27
Alelluia, Alelluia
"My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord; I know them, and they follow me."
Alelluia, Alelluia
Gospel Reading: Luke 14:1-6
On a sabbath Jesus went to dine at the home of one of the leading Pharisees, and the people there were observing him carefully. In front of him there was a man suffering from dropsy. Jesus spoke to the scholars of the law and Pharisees in reply, asking, "Is it lawful to cure on the sabbath or not?"
But they kept silent; so he took the man and, after he had healed him, dismissed him. Then he said to them "Who among you, if your son or ox falls into a cistern, would not immediately pull him out on the sabbath day?" But they were unable to answer his question.
**Meditation:
How do you approach the commandment to observe the sabbath as a day of rest to honor the Lord? The Pharisees were convinced that Jesus was a reckless Sabbath-breaker. The Gospels record seven incidents in which Jesus healed people on the Sabbath - the seventh day of the week set apart for rest and the worship of God. You would think Jesus' miracles on the Sabbath day of rest would draw admiration and gratitude from all. Unfortunately, each incident seemed to incite increasing hostility from the religious leaders who held an interpretation that went beyond God's intention for the Sabbath day of rest. They were certain that Jesus was a dangerous and irreligious man, a Sabbath-breaker, who must be stopped at all costs!
Is it ever lawful to refuse your neighbor in need? Why did the Pharisees invite Jesus to dinner on the Sabbath, after he had already repeatedly broken their Sabbath regulations? Luke, a physician and keen observer of the human condition, notes the disposition of the Pharisees as they bring Jesus into their table fellowship. Body language often communicates more truthfully than words. Luke says the scribes and Pharisees were watching Jesus, no doubt with great suspicion. They wanted to catch Jesus in the act of breaking the Sabbath ritual so they might accuse him of breaking God's law and find some way to discredit him. Jesus' attention and affection quickly turned to a person who had a physical ailment called dropsy. How did such a pitiable person get into this dinner party? In the hot arid climate of Palestine, homes were open and people freely dropped in without much fuss or attention. For the religious minded it was considered uncharitable to exclude beggars. And if a rabbi came to dinner, it would be expected for him to speak a few words. So, famous rabbis obviously drew crowds of bystanders wherever they went.
God's work of love and mercy never rests Jesus already knew that his hosts wanted to catch him in the act of breaking their Sabbath rituals. So when Jesus gave his defense for healing on the Sabbath, they treated him with cold silence. They were ensnared in their own legalism and could not understand or see the purpose of God in allowing a work of healing to take precedence over rest. Why did God give the commandment to keep holy the Sabbath and enjoined his people to refrain from work on that day? The "Sabbath rest" was meant to be a time to remember and celebrate God's goodness and the goodness of his works, both in creation and redemption. It was a day set apart for the praise of God, his work of creation, and his saving actions on our behalf. It was intended to bring everyday work to a halt and to provide needed rest and refreshment. It was not, however, intended to put a stop to love of God and love of neighbor. The law of love supersedes the law of rest! Jesus shows the fallacy of the Pharisees' legalism by pointing to God's intention for the Sabbath: to do good and to heal.
God's word has power to heal and to set us free from ignorance, error, intolerance, and prejudice. Do you honor the Lord's Day with appropriate rest and worship of God, and do you treat your neighbor with love and mercy in all situations?
**Prayer
"Lord Jesus, may I always honor you, both  in my work and in my rest, and in the way I treat my neighbor. Fill me with your love and keep me free from a critical and intolerant spirit that I may always seek to please you and to bring good to my neighbor as well."

My girl @slayspirituallyinc has been taking my spirit to #church today! I'm #rp this one, but all of her posts today spoke so deeply to me... Sometimes we're going through some shit inside, being challenged by this thing called life, and sometimes it gets the best of us. But we just have to remember that despite those fractured bits, those bumps & bruises, we're still accountable for our smiles, and no one will ever love us the way we love ourselves first. #selflove #wordsofwisdom #iloveme #moveforward @Regrann from @slayspirituallyinc - It is okay to be broken. Truth is all of us are. It's not okay to stay there and hurt people because you're hurt #hurtpeopleHURTpeople Accept you as you are and for who you are. Learn who not to be so that you won't mistreat people how you've been treated ❤️ Beloved....I pray healing for your heart, spirit, soul, and mind ❤️ #psalm147:3

We are a hopeful people! #KnowWhoYouAre #KreateYourHope #WeGonBeAlright #KerseWords #Psalm3:1-2 God! Look! Enemies past counting! Enemies sprouting like mushrooms, Mobs of them all around me, roaring their mockery: “Hah! No help for him from God!” 3-4 But you, God, shield me on all sides; You ground my feet, you lift my head high; W/all my might I shout up to God, His answers thunder from the holy mountain. 5-6 I stretch myself out. I sleep. Then I’m up again—rested, tall & steady, Fearless before the enemy mobs Coming at me from all sides. 7 Up, God! My God, help me! 8 Real help comes from God. #Mark4:30 He also said, “W/what can we compare the kingdom of God?31 It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; 32 yet when it is sown it grows up & becomes the greatest of all shrubs, & puts forth large branches, so that the birds can make nests in its shade.” #1Corinthians15:54-58 then the saying that is written will be fulfilled: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, b/c you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 54 Death swallowed by triumphant Life! Who got the last word, oh, Death? Oh, Death, who’s afraid of you now? It was sin that made death so frightening & law-code guilt that gave sin its leverage, its destructive power. But now in a single victorious stroke of Life, all three—sin, guilt, death—are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christ. Thank God! 58 W/all this going for us, my dear friends, stand your ground. & don’t hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort. #Joshua10:25 Joshua told them, “Don’t hold back. Don’t be timid. Be strong! Be confident! This is what God will do to all your enemies when you fight them Psalm147:11 but the Lord takes pleasure in those who hope in his steadfast love
