Sing Songs of Praise to Our God
Tumblr media
Psalm 145:1-3
I will extol You, my God, O King; and I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.
Psalm 92:1-2
It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night.
Psalm 33:1-3
REJOICE in the LORD, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. Praise the LORD with the harp; make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy.
Psalm 104:33-34
I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the LORD.

Jewish Song of the Day #19: Psalm 24
youtube
Comments:
This week is a special week, because I have decided to post only Tehillim.
Why Psalms? Well, you see there already is such a thing as Jewish Song of the Day that's part of our daily morning liturgy. It's called Shir Shel Yom (Song of the Day) and happens at the end of the service.
Per the Orthodox Union:
One of the last prayers which are recited each morning as part of the shacharit service is the "shir shel yom", the song of the day.[1] The kabbalists teach that through the recitation of the shir shel yom we ensure that our prayers reach heaven in a favorable manner, untainted by harmful forces. It is also noted that the morning is a time of chessed – kindness - which further facilitates the acceptance of prayers that are recited in the morning.[2] Although not immediately apparent, the daily shir shel yom corresponds to the day's significance in the order of creation.[3] The idea of reciting a different song each day is alluded to in Chapter 92 of Tehillim which opens with "A song for the Shabbat day" implying that every day of the week has a chapter of Tehillim which corresponds to it. Additionally, we see from here that the practice of reciting a daily shir shel yom is quite ancient. Each shir shel yom is taken from the book of Tehillim and is reminiscent of the song that the Levites would sing in the Beit Hamikdash each day following the morning offering.[4] No less than twelve Levites would assemble to form a choir whose task was to sing these songs.[5] Although musical instruments were a prominent component of this performance, the mitzva only requires a vocal presentation.[6] Before the Levites would sing the shir shel yom they would recite a preliminary blessing as is common before performing many other mitzvot.[7] While the chapters of Tehillim which are recited as the shir shel yom are fundamentally similar to the songs of the Levites, they are not identical texts.
It seems only fitting that, since there is already a real Jewish Song of the Day, if I'm going to do my own version, I may as well honor this ancient and ongoing practice as part of it!

The book I am reading is really good! I wish I had more time to read so I could know what was going to happen next, but alas, my days are meticulously planned and piano practice gets added first if I have extra time after finishing my school work during the week. The weekends allow me the option to trade in time gaming to do other things, but my brother was able to play tonight, so I traded 30 minutes of time for reading and then got on to play with Julien when he texted that he was ready whenever I was.
This week, I get to keep track of my emotions three times a day and then make notes about what I thought may have triggered any of the strong emotions. It's actually for two weeks, but it should be interesting to see what happens at different times throughout the day and how it could be linked to things such as sleep, exercise, nutrition, or whatnot.
Tasks Completed:
World History - Worked on essay (due tomorrow)
Piano - Practiced for 3 hours in 1 hour split sessions
Duolingo - Studied for 15 minutes (Spanish, French, Chinese) + completed daily quests
CLEP - Completed Module 10 reading "World War I" 12.2.3-12.2.5
Reading - Read pages 92-186 of A Door in the Dark by Scott Reintgen
Chores - Put the dishes away + vacuumed my bedroom, the study, and the front room + swept and mopped the kitchen floor
Activities of the Day:
Church
Bible Study
Personal Bible Study (Psalm 56)
Girl Scout meeting
1 hour gaming
Journaling/Mindfulness
-
What I’m Grateful for Today:
I am grateful for my friends. I say this a lot, but it is because I am exceedingly grateful for them, especially on days we get to see each other. It reminds me how lucky I am to have had them in my life for so many years.
Quote of the Day:
People really are like houses with vast rooms and tiny windows. And maybe it’s a good thing, the way we never stop surprising each other.

devotion by Bernard Trippett, Jr
Lovingkindness in the morning, faithfulness every night.
“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night” Psalm 92:1-2, NKJV.
God is going to show you His lovingkindness in the morning. He’s going to show you His faithfulness by nightfall. Make it your mighty declaration to begin your day. Make it your praise announcement before you even step out of your door that you will see His new mercies every morning, and by the end of the day, the Father will once again be faithful.
If you feel like you’re in a wilderness experience, the Lord is going to walk you through it. Faithful is He that has called you, and He will do it. Let the truth of who your God is encourage your soul. The Father has covered your life with His lovingkindness and faithfulness today.
Prayer: Father, thank you for being good to me. I give you praise. I declare before the day starts, I declare I will see your lovingkindness this morning and your faithfulness every night. Your mercy endures forever, and Jesus reigns in me. I ask that you show up and show out in my life today. Help me to be strong in you and in the power of your might, not my own. I will stand fast and see the great salvation of the Lord today. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

DIVINE SATISFACTION
Mark 3:14-15 says, "Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, and to have power to heal sickness and to cast out demons."
Luke 9:1 says, "Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases."
He gave it to them. He just said, "Here, take it." And they took the impartation He gave them, and they healed the sick and ministered to everyone they met.
John 20:21-22 says, "So Jesus said to them again, 'Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.' And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit.'"
God sent Jesus out with an immeasurable anointing of the Holy Spirit. And Jesus was saying to the disciples, "Now I'm going to send you out like My Father sent Me." That means Jesus imparted an immeasurable anointing to them.
You received a measure of impartation and anointing when you were born again in Christ.  The anointing you received empowered you to advance God’s Kingdom and bear fruit that remains to fulfill your Christ calling.--  because you're His temple, you're His workmanship; and He wants to manifest His glory, His nature, His character, and His power through you.
PRE-ORDAINED FOR GOOD WORKS
In Ephesians 2:10 it says, "We are His workmanship." He's doing a work in you and has ordained good works for you to carry out your Calling In Christ, but it's never by your might, never by your ability, never by your power, but by the power of the Holy Spirit.
James 1:17 says, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of Lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." Every good gift is from the Father.
God's Word says "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened" (Matthew 7:7-8).
HAVE YOU BEEN  ASKING?
Have you been asking, seeking, and knocking (Matthew 7:7) until you come to understand God’s purpose for your life? Because you are born again in Christ you need this to be effective in building and moving forth His Kingdom in the earth. Align yourself and say, "I'm hungry. I'm so hungry for You, Lord Jesus."
Matthew 7:9-11 says, "Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him!"
HOLY HUNGER IS SATISFIED THROUGH DIVINE IMPARTATION
Psalm 63:1-4 says, "O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory."
Psalm 63:5 declares, "My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips."
We need the oil of the Holy Spirit, we need fresh oil every day. We need the perpetual ceaseless flow of His precious oil in and through our lives.
ASK RIGHT NOW
The world needs to see a people who are not walking in the power of man or what religion can give but from the power of the precious Holy Spirit.
"And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God." -  1 Corinthians 2:4-5
Let Psalm 92:10 be released right now: "But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil!"
Get ready, here it comes! Let the Rock pour out rivers of oil for you that your path drips with fresh oil and anointing (see Job 29:6)!

Wednesday, Fifth Week of Lent - Proper Readings
(see also Lazarus)
(Liturgical Colour: Violet: B (2))
First Reading Daniel 3:14-20, 91-92, 95 The Lord has sent his angel to deliver his servants.
King Nebuchadnezzar said: “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you will not serve my god, or worship the golden statue that I set up? Be ready now to fall down and worship the statue I had made, whenever you hear the sound of the trumpet, flute, lyre, harp, psaltery, bagpipe, and all the other musical instruments; otherwise, you shall be instantly cast into the white-hot furnace; and who is the God who can deliver you out of my hands?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, “There is no need for us to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If our God, whom we serve, can save us from the white-hot furnace and from your hands, O king, may he save us! But even if he will not, know, O king, that we will not serve your god or worship the golden statue that you set up.”
King Nebuchadnezzar’s face became livid with utter rage against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace to be heated seven times more than usual and had some of the strongest men in his army bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and cast them into the white-hot furnace.
Nebuchadnezzar rose in haste and asked his nobles, “Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?” “Assuredly, O king,” they answered. “But,” he replied, “I see four men unfettered and unhurt, walking in the fire, and the fourth looks like a son of God.” Nebuchadnezzar exclaimed, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who sent his angel to deliver the servants who trusted in him; they disobeyed the royal command and yielded their bodies rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.”

Gospel Acclamation cf. Luke 8:15
Blessed are they who have kept the word with a generous heart and yield a harvest through perseverance.
Gospel John 8:31-42 If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are descendants of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How can you say, ‘You will become free’?” Jesus answered them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son always remains. So if the Son frees you, then you will truly be free. I know that you are descendants of Abraham. But you are trying to kill me, because my word has no room among you. I tell you what I have seen in the Father’s presence; then do what you have heard from the Father.” They answered and said to him, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works of Abraham. But now you are trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God; Abraham did not do this. You are doing the works of your father!” So they said to him, “We were not born of fornication. We have one Father, God.” Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me.”

The Lord is my Rock
A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day.
1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto Thy name, O Most High,
2 to show forth Thy lovingkindness in the morning, and Thy faithfulness every night,
3 upon an instrument of ten strings and upon the psaltery, upon the harp with a solemn sound.
4 For Thou, LORD, hast made me glad through Thy work; I will triumph in the works of Thy hands.
5 O LORD, how great are Thy works! And Thy thoughts are very deep.
6 A brutish man knoweth not, neither doth a fool understand this:
7 when the wicked spring up as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish, it is that they shall be destroyed for ever;
8 but Thou, LORD, art Most High for evermore.
9 For lo, Thine enemies, O LORD, for lo, Thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
10 But my horn shalt Thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn; I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
11 Mine eye also shall see what I desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear what I desire upon the wicked that rise up against me.
12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those that are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing to show
15 that the LORD is upright. He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. — Psalm 92 | Third Millennium Bible (TMB) Third Millennium Bible, New Authorized Version, Copyright 1998 by Deuel Enterprises, Inc. Psalms chapter 92
1 (A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day.) It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
2 To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,
3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.
4 For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
5 O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
6 A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.
7 When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:
8 But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore.
9 For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
11 Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.
12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
15 To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
