The Lord is my Rock
A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day.
1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto Thy name, O Most High,
2 to show forth Thy lovingkindness in the morning, and Thy faithfulness every night,
3 upon an instrument of ten strings and upon the psaltery, upon the harp with a solemn sound.
4 For Thou, LORD, hast made me glad through Thy work; I will triumph in the works of Thy hands.
5 O LORD, how great are Thy works! And Thy thoughts are very deep.
6 A brutish man knoweth not, neither doth a fool understand this:
7 when the wicked spring up as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish, it is that they shall be destroyed for ever;
8 but Thou, LORD, art Most High for evermore.
9 For lo, Thine enemies, O LORD, for lo, Thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
10 But my horn shalt Thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn; I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
11 Mine eye also shall see what I desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear what I desire upon the wicked that rise up against me.
12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those that are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing to show
15 that the LORD is upright. He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. — Psalm 92 | Third Millennium Bible (TMB) Third Millennium Bible, New Authorized Version, Copyright 1998 by Deuel Enterprises, Inc. "Alegría en Sus Obras"
(Salmo 92:4)

We’ve seen it, some of us are already in it, and it can be a scary place, with many unknowns other than the end. Jan…

Daily Prayer for the Lord's Day, April 30, 2023
Prayer: Our Father, as we approach another Lord’s Day established and prepared by you for the good of your people, we are painfully aware of the struggle of this miserable, fallen world. We live in it and are journeying through it as we slowly but surely draw closer to our eternal rest. As such, our God, we are thankful for the provision of this one day in seven designed to remind us of your love…

"Give Thanks To The Lord!" -- Roy Knight
The inscription of Psalm 92 declares it to be a song for the Sabbath day. It was sung to direct the worshipper’s mind upward to God with a spirit of thankfulness. Though the author is unknown, many ascribe the psalm to David as one can readily see his life unfold throughout these verses. The theme of the psalm is found in the first two verses. Three avenues of thankfulness are mentioned. First,…

Do psalms in Hebrew count? They are songs, and they are old, and I can sing some, but I’m pretty sure I use a different tune.
please do look it up if you dont know the date bc there may be at least an approximate answer and otherwise the last option will completely dominate and this poll will be boring.
and dont be like 'but i cant sing'... just answer the earliest tune you know well enough that you COULD sing it
periods of western classical music provided only for reference

“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing.” Psalms 92:12-14
---
Flourish Like A Tree
By Jennifer Kane
The righteous flourish like a tree,
In God's own courts, they stand so tall,
Their fruit remains, forever free.
The righteous flourish like a tree,
Through every season, they will call,
In holy ground, don’t you agree?
The righteous flourish like a tree,
For in His light, they will not fall,
Their fruit remains, forever free.
The righteous flourish like a tree,
In God's embrace, they heed the call,
Like cedars of eternity.
The righteous flourish like a tree,
Still fresh and green, for all to see,
Planted by the Lord of all,
Their fruit remains, forever free.
---
In this Psalm, we see a beautiful image of the righteous flourishing like two mighty trees: the palm tree and the cedar of Lebanon. Each tree represents strength, resilience, and fruitfulness in its own way. The palm tree, often associated with victory and endurance, grows in desert places, thriving where other plants might wither. The cedar of Lebanon, known for its height and sturdiness, symbolizes long-lasting growth and majestic strength.
Just as in the poem I repeated the phrase "the righteous flourish like a tree," I invite you to remember that this flourishing is not dependent on outward circumstances but on our rootedness in God. Whether we face dry seasons of life or long stretches of growth, our strength is in the Lord.
Take a moment today to examine your spiritual roots. Are you planted deeply in the Lord, or are there areas where your faith needs watering?
