PSALMS S.O.A.P. ~ PSALM 84

SCRIPTURE:

How happy are those who reside in Your house,  who praise You continually. Selah�� ~ Psalm 84:4  Happy are the people whose strength is in You,  whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. ~ Psalm 84:5  Better a day in Your courts  than a thousand anywhere else.  I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than live in the tents of wicked people. ~ Psalm 84:10 

OBSERVATION:

Interesting opposites here:

Reside - have one's permanent home in a particular place;

Pilgrimage - a purposeful journey, often into an unknown or foreign place, where a person goes in search of new or expanded meaning about their self, others, nature, or a higher good through the experience. It can lead to a personal transformation, after which the pilgrim returns home to their daily life;

And then, 

the threshold of the house of God - implies permanence, residing...

...tents of the wicked - implies impermanence, moving from place to place...

Happy - residing and pilgriming in Him and in His presence... even for just a day...

APPLICATION:

Reside in Him;

Travel with Him;

Praise Him continually;

PRAYER:

Father God - may I travel with You, pilgrimage with You, return with You to Your house and accept my place at Your door... I ask forgiveness for my wandering... Please accept my praise and thanksgiving and worship for Your grace and mercy... through and in Jesus's Name, for Your honor... 

Happily trusting in Him... 𝖌

This is such a simple picture, but to me, it says so much. God's shield is always over us. Yes, there may be troubles, Jesus said there would be (Jn 16:33), but God will be a shield through them (Ps. 115:11).

Psalm 84:11-12 (NIV) [11] “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. [12] Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.”
