If it's Protege c!Tommy, at some point people learn c!Tommy is on c!Dream's side. because. well. c!Tommy sucks at keeping secrets. Probably not actually, but emotionally that's what he's like so he sends c!Tommy back to """"spy""" on L'Manberg, cue Drunz getting some breathing space and c!Tommy getting up to looney tunes shit doing his spying in L'Manberg and so obviously a traitor that everything thinks he's just doing a bit.

Very important to note that c!Tommy got his own Dream Mask (Vault did the little design with the X eyes), which he made himself, and he keeps it on the entire time he's being a """spy""".

If it's c!Tubbo he learns about the revive book way earlier on and instantly he's like "oh I know a perfect subject for experimenting I can totally lure c!Ranboo into a trap and then we could use him. It's perfect because he won't remember!"

c!Dream is both impressed by the ruthlessness and also stuck in a corner now because has to explain the c!Ranboo is actually also on their side. Which makes it very awkward when c!Tubbo meets c!Ranboo as a c!Dream ally later on.
